Taking 40 mg of Cialis could be dangerous and raise the risk of side effects such as a sudden drop in blood pressure and priapism. The typical dose is 10 mg for occasional use and 2.5 or 5 mg for daily use. The typical maximum dose of Cialis for ED is 20 mg once a day.

If a doctor has prescribed Cialis for pulmonary arterial hypertension, you may be advised to take two 20-mg doses a day. But taking that much of the medication should be done only under a doctor’s guidance.

It changes more than your penis

While Cialis works for ED by affecting the PDE5 enzyme in the penis, it also affects other PDE enzymes in tissues and cells in other areas of the body. For example, PDE5 is found in tissues in the lungs, kidneys, liver, brain, and platelets.

Cialis also affects PDE11, which is found in tissues in the heart, pancreas, pituitary, skeletal muscles, testes, and corpus cavernosum.

It increases your chances of side effects

Doubling the maximum dose of Cialis to 40 mg can increase the chances of experiencing side effects, which include:

• headaches
• flushing
• dizziness
• back pain
• vision and hearing changes

It may also cause priapism, an erection lasting longer than 4 hours, damaging the penile tissue. An urgent medical evaluation is needed to prevent long-term damage if this occurs.

It’s in your system for a while and clears slowly

Another reason not to double your dose is the long lasting effects of Cialis.

The effects of Cialis last much longer (up to 36 hours) than other PDE5 inhibitors like Viagra (4 to 5 hours). So, Cialis stays in your body and clears slowly. This can increase the risk of side effects if you add doses on top of what’s already in your system.

How does Cialis work?

Cialis is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor. It limits the effect of the PDE5 enzyme in the penis, allowing blood vessels in your penis to relax so blood can flow into the penis, helping to get or keep an erection. Keep in mind that Cialis won’t work unless you’re stimulated or aroused.

Cialis, a brand-name version of tadalafil, is available by prescription in tablet form in four strengths:

• 2.5 mg
• 5 mg
• 10 mg

The dose of Cialis for ED depends on your age and if you’re taking it once daily (lower dose) or as needed (higher dose).

According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) dosing guidelines for ED symptoms, the recommended dose for Cialis once daily is 2. 5 mg to start and may be increased to 5 mg if needed.

The recommended dose for as-needed Cialis is 10 mg and may be adjusted up or down to a maximum of 20 mg.

Tadalafil is the generic name for Cialis. It’s part of a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitors and is prescribed for the following conditions:

What is the maximum amount of Cialis I can take?

First, a few words about your penis. When it’s working correctly, erections are the result of two primary processes activated by arousal. 

The first of the two primary processes: increased blood flow to the blood vessels of the penis; the second: the blood becoming trapped in the corpora cavernosa (two large storage chambers that make your penis look full and hard).

Can You Take 40mg of Cialis?

As for taking a double dose (40mg), well, bad ideas abound. 

Remember how we mentioned Cialis doesn’t give you an erection? Well, taking a second one isn’t going to change how the drug fundamentally works. 

What it will do is double the risk of mild and serious side effects like the ones we mentioned. You don’t want a doubled risk of diarrhea, let alone blindness. 

Worse yet, taking double doses can increase the likelihood of experiencing a condition called priapism —  an erection that lasts for several hours.

It can be painful, it will require medical attention and it may cause permanent damage. Of course, that’s not to say that priapism isn’t a side effect at the regular dosage.

Taking 40mg of Cialis: Not a Good Idea

Take this as a little heart-to-heart. If you’re considering double dosing on prescription medications like Cialis, you might be in bigger trouble than you know. 

For starters, more of the ED medication isn’t going to solve the problem and DIY dosages are, as we explained, potentially dangerous.

2. Cialis can be taken daily in small doses. The recommended starting dosage for this version of Cialis is 5mg, although some men need half of it. Regularly taking 2.5-5 mg of the drug, for example, every two days, after a week of taking, you can create a stable level of tadalafil in the body and no longer have to think about possible failures. Daily therapy is also used to treat prostate adenoma, which is a fairly common disease in the stronger sex.

Despite the fact that Cialis has proven to be an extremely effective remedy without particularly pronounced side effects, it is better to use it on the recommendation of a doctor, as there are quite serious contraindications. There are several conditions when it is necessary to consult a doctor before taking the drug. This mainly concerns men with kidney and liver diseases, as well as those with heart problems. Who takes pills for erection?

Contrary to popular belief, drugs like Cialis and Viagra are by no means for “oldies”. It is surprising how many older men, even in rich and developed countries, do not use any erectile drugs at all. Sales of the “love vitamin” never reached half of what experts predicted in 1998.

I was 22 years old. I sat in front of the computer, hanging out on pick-up forums, and spent a lot of time with my buddies at the bar, engaging in ridiculous chatter about how to “punch chicks.” The most amazing thing is that it sometimes worked. In hindsight, I think it helped to have some of the confidence that inspired me in memorized stories that made me attractive. As well as promiscuity in the choice of random partners. Now I don’t believe in memorizing phrases or concocted “pickup” schemes to create interest in women, but I am still grateful to the pickup community for the “introductory course” that they gave me for self-development.

During the last year I had several erotic adventures, mostly with women who were older and had their own apartments (I live with my parents). I almost always had a little drink with another partner and, I must admit, those were wonderful days. There were even girls who wanted to see me again.

Anyway, one evening I met a woman of, so to speak, “Balzac” age, who directly said “Come to me!” Before I had time to finish my glass of wine. She turned out to be very experienced, and she liked that it was just “business”. The girl wanted to have sex, and I turned out to be the guy who met her on the way that night. In addition, she was really attractive, without exaggeration, luxurious, but the way she acted worried me. Neither of us were drunk, and by the time we were in her bedroom taking off our clothes, I was pretty nervous. It all ended as quickly as it began. I didn’t even have time to get fully dressed before I got to the stairwell. Quite a lot of time has already passed, but I still cannot forget the shame I felt for my flaccid penis.

After such a fiasco, I “addicted” to Viagra, so that, as I then thought, the penis was guaranteed to get up. Contraindications did not scare me. However, after a few months I noticed that without the pills there was no erection at all. Went to see a doctor. To get rid of sexual anxiety, he recommended that I take small doses of Viagra and gradually wean myself off the “drug” over time.

After several weeks of taking 5-10 gr. doses of Viagra every time he was going to have sex, the potency returned. I cut back on doses until I stopped using them completely. I admit, Viagra helped me relax and focus on my partner, so that I could fully enjoy sexual intercourse here and now, instead of worrying about my erection.

So, after the first few weeks of taking small doses of Viagra and gaining self-confidence, for about half a year I did not touch the pills at all, did not need them – life was good anyway.

But then I met a girl with whom we began a serious relationship, and since then, afraid of disappointing her and trying to please her more, I was again nervous every time before having sex. The anxiety returned.

I tried all folk remedies to keep my penis up and didn’t want to start taking Viagra again. Firstly, I did not want to fall into dependence on her again, and secondly, the drug, as you know, is damn expensive. I heard about generics out of the corner of my ear, but did not trust them, because I was afraid to run into a fake. In addition, I was ashamed to return to the doctor, and even more so in front of my girlfriend, because Viagra is perceived by everyone as a pill for the elderly.

As a result, I found a site on the Internet that sent tadalafil in a tight, impersonal package and, according to reviews, did not scam buyers. Those little orange pills aren’t cheap either, especially if you’re buying brand name Cialis. I chose the generic, which I do not regret at all.

Took a small piece of a pill, maybe 3-5mg of a 20mg tadalafil dosage every time I had sex, and it made me feel a lot more confident. I eventually weaned myself off the pills, but it was difficult because I had been using them for over a year before.
