Sigh. Come on, guys. Let’s play nice and get informed.

Here’s the thing. Most foods ARE keto.
It’s the amount of each food that you want to pay attention to, not necessarily the type. If you’re eating an entire watermelon on your own, pretty safe to say that’s not keto.
But even then, if you’re heavily training for a marathon and eating an entire watermelon doesn’t kick you out of ketosis because of your level of physical exertion, you’re still doing keto.

While there are foods that I would say are a definite no-no on the keto diet (grains and sugar!), almost everything else just follows the rule of moderation, including strawberries.
Even honey can be keto friendly if you use it correctly and your individual body reacts appropriately.
Or if you’re counting your carbs, they just have to fit in your macronutrient count (that means the fat, protein, and carbohydrate amounts that you’re eating in a day). In other words, IIFYM, or “If It Fits Your Macros.” (For more keto definitions, see my Keto Word Glossary.)

Taking a look at the different berries side by side, blueberries come in with the highest grams of net carbs per serving, with one cup equaling nearly 18 grams of carbs — a hefty load for a keto dieter. That’s over twice as many net carbs as you would find in a cup of strawberries. Before scrutinizing these berries for their carb count, it’s important to subtract the grams of fiber so we can get an accurate look at their net carbs.
However, both blackberries and raspberries have an even lower carb count than strawberries, closer to the 6-6.5 grams per cup range.
In truth, if you’re following a keto diet, you probably won’t be consuming a full cup of any type of berry. A half-cup serving is typically more appropriate and safe in terms of keeping your blood sugar levels low. With blueberries, however, you may want to cut that serving size down even further to one-fourth of a cup.
The fat and protein content of the berries also vary quite a bit. While none of these berries are particularly great sources of fat, raspberries offer slightly more fat than the other varieties. Throughout my Keto Diet Journey, a sweet treat I’ve had more than anything else is Strawberries and Whipped Cream.
I enjoy a bowl full most days as an afternoon sweet treat and I look forward to it every single day. I never seem to tire of this simple dessert and it always delivers that perfect sweet experience that I’m after.
Strawberries, and other berries, are the lowest carb fruit. But, they still contain carbs. So, keep it to 3 to 4 sliced berries at most.
You’ll see that I fill the bottom of a bowl with a couple of sliced berries.
Then, I top it was a generous swirl (or five) of whipped cream. You can use canned whipped cream, just watch for added sugars, thickeners or other carb additions.
You can just as easily pour some heavy whipping cream or double cream into a bowl and whip it into freshly whipped cream. If you’d like, you could even flavour your whipped cream. Here are some ideas:

Are strawberries OK on keto diet? The short answer is yes. You can absolutely have strawberries on the keto diet. AND, if I had a dollar for everyone who asked if a certain food was keto, I’d have a bazillion dollars by now. It’s really not a big deal to ask questions, though.
In case you didn’t know, strawberries are perfect for the keto diet because not only will eating them help you lose weight but they will also help you burn up any stored fat you have lingering in your system! Some of the other benefits of eating strawberries include boosting your short term memory and helping to prevent cardiovascular disease.

This crust is very easy to make, and even easier if you have a food processor! So let’s start by preheating the oven to 350F.
Add almond flour, butter, egg, vanilla and vanilla extract to a food processor bowl and stir until a dough forms.
Dig out the dough and place it in a 9-inch non-stick frying pan, then squeeze it out to the sides.
Rub the dough with a fork and cover with parchment paper and tart weights, or you can use dried beans. I use dried beans and use them over and over again. I just keep them in my food storage container and they are ready to go when I need them!
Bake for 20 minutes, then let cool to room temperature.
How to Make the Best Strawberry Filling
Wait until you see how easy it is! Basically, you put everything into the food process and mix it!
So add strawberries, mascarpone, cream cheese, vanilla extract, cloves and some heavy cream to a bowl and stir until a smooth, creamy consistency is achieved.
Add xanthan gum and continue mixing. If the mixture is too thick, add more heavy cream.
Pour this over the chilled tart crust and smooth it out with a spatula or spoon.
You can serve it as is, or you can top with chopped strawberries and whipped cream.
It doesn’t have to be so elegant, but honestly it’s that simple, why not make it beautiful?
Be sure to refrigerate in refrigerator for 1-2 hours or until completely hardened before cutting.

This recipe uses a 9 “nonstick skillet, but you can use any pie plate or skillet, and instead of making a pie, you can make a low carb pie! The tart pie has ribbed edges for a really nice crust and also has a removable bottom for easy maintenance!

Step by Step Recipe
- Place the gelatin in a saucepan of cold water and leave to soften for 5 minutes.
- While the gelatin is soft, peel the strawberries and chop until smooth with a blender.
- Add powdered sweetener to a saucepan of gelatin. Heat the mixture slightly to dissolve the gelatin and sweetener in the water. Don’t boil the mixture!
- To the mashed strawberries, add the coconut cream, gelatin and sweetener mixture and stir until smooth. Add lemon juice to the mixture if desired. Adjust the amount of sweetener in the dessert to your liking.
- Pour the mousse into dessert cups and chill in the refrigerator for at least 5 hours or until hardened.
Cooking Tips
The recipe is for 6 servings of Strawberry Keto Mousse, about 100 g each.
Dessert can be stored in the refrigerator for 3-4 days and should not be frozen.
Both fresh and frozen strawberries can be used in this recipe.
If you wish, you can substitute whipped milk cream or mascarpone cheese for the mousse when making the mousse.
