According to IQVIA PharmaTrend research, Pfizer’s Eliquis® (apixaban) was recognized as the Best Prescription Brand in Russia for the second year in a row by IQVIA RX AWARDS 1 . Eliquis® (apixaban) is an oral selective factor Xa inhibitor used to prevent stroke and systemic thromboembolism in adult patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVA), to prevent venous thromboembolism in patients after elective hip or knee arthroplasty, and for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. According to the international randomized clinical trial ARISTOTLE, apixaban is the only oral anticoagulant that outperforms warfarin in patients with NFP on three dimensions: efficacy (reduced risk of stroke and systemic embolism), safety (lower risk of bleeding) and reduction in overall mortality 2 .
