How to turn off sleep mode on your computer

Computers often “fall asleep” on their own after not doing anything for a certain amount of time, which is sometimes annoying.

Sleep mode is used on laptops to save battery power. It is extremely useful for owners of portable devices, as it allows you to effectively extend the time of their gadget.

Stationary computers do not have a battery, and therefore the “Sleep” mode can, on the contrary, bring discomfort to the user. We’ll talk about how to completely disable sleep mode below.

How to find the hibernation function

Before you can remove the hibernation function, you need to find out where this function is located in the operating system. Often, computers themselves “fall asleep” after not doing anything for a certain period of time.

However, the user can manually put the computer or laptop into sleep mode. To do this, in the “Start” menu, select “Shut down Windows” and among the options find “Sleep.”

How to turn off sleep mode on the computer

There are two main ways to turn off automatic sleep after no action on the PC: through the “Control Panel” and through the “Settings”.

How to remove sleep mode through the “Settings”:

Start menu → Settings → System → Power and sleep.
In the “Sleep” section, select “Never” when using AC power and save the settings.

How to disable “Sleep” through the “Control Panel”:

Start Menu → Control Panel → Power Options → select the power plan you are using and click “Power plan settings”.
In the “Put the computer to sleep” field, select the “Never” option and save the changes.

It should be taken into account that the changes affect only the plan that has been adjusted. If you need to change the configuration on a different power plan, just repeat the steps.

You can also set the “Sleep” mode to suit your needs. For example, extend or shorten the PC’s idle time by following the algorithms and selecting the desired values. Separately, you can turn off sleep mode and make the computer screen darken after no action.

Sleep mode itself is quite useful, allowing you to save the battery of the device, but in some cases, especially with stationary PCs, users prefer to turn it off, which is very simple.
