Algin in Skin Care – Uses and Products with Algin

When you think about brown seaweed, skincare and cosmetics products likely aren’t what come to mind. Algin or alginic acid may change that for you. It’s a safe skincare ingredient that enhances product texture and thickness. It’s a vegan, sustainable, and brown green ingredient.

However, this ingredient has a comedogenic rating of 4, meaning it can clog pores. Take precautions before using if you struggle with acne, blemishes, or clogged pores.

What Is Algin?

Algin is derived from alginate and is also known as alginic acid. This is a naturally-occurring polymer that comes from the brown algae known as Phaeophyceae. This class of algae grows in temperate coastal marine environments throughout the world, wherever the water is less than 72 degrees Fahrenheit.

Algin is used in skincare for many product types. After processing and production, it’s typically sold in powdered, granular, or filament form. It’s often used in lotions and creams, along with other ingredients that help thicken the product and deliver moisture and nutrients to the skin. It’s a natural, plant-derived, sustainable ingredient, so it’s a favorite for plant-based and vegan skincare brands.

Algin Uses & Benefits for Skin

Algin is often used in skin care for its emulsifying, thickening, and film-forming benefits. It improves the thickness and texture in products, making them easier to use.

  • Emulsifier – Algin is an emulsifier. This means it’s able to help bind together oil and water and create a spreadable product that will not split after being packaged. This enhances the overall texture and spreadability of the skincare product, as well.
  • Water binding agent – As a gelling-polysaccharide, it is often used to help water bind with skin care products, and it helps your skin readily absorb the water and moisturizing agents contained in a gel, cream, or ointment.
  • Thickener – Algin forms a viscous gum when it’s hydrated with water, and helps provide thickness, body, and volume to a variety of different skincare and cosmetic formulations.
  • Film former – A film former is a compound that helps create a smooth, unbroken film on the skin as a cosmetic product is spread. The thickening and gelling properties of algin help with this process.

Is Algin Vegan?

Algin is 100% vegan. It’s derived from a family of brown seaweed that is extremely common throughout the world, so it’s sustainable and environmentally-friendly, too.

As always, consult with the cosmetic manufacturer and read skin care ingredient labels closely to ensure you’re using vegan products. Algin is common in many products, so it may be used alongside animal-derived ingredients in some cases.

Is Algin Safe To Use In Skincare?

Yes. Algin in skin care has no known issues related to toxicity, carcinogenic effects, allergies, or any other such risks. It’s even used in some food products for its gelling properties, and is safe for consumption. Algin is considered safe to use in skincare products, but it might not be the best option for all skin types.

Algin Acne Concerns

Algin has a comedogenic rating of 4, so it could clog your pores. It is best to avoid Algin if you have acne or struggle with clogged pores. While the comedogenic rating system has its flaws and is outdated by some standards it’s still a good metric to consider when evaluating new products/ingredients.

Products With Algin

It’s used in a wide variety of serums, essences, lotions, creams, ointments, and moisturizers.

You’ll find algin in anti-aging serums, masks, repair oil, creams, cosmetics, and more. It is used by popular brands such as True Botanicals, Dior, 100% Pure, Dr. Jart, and Juice Beauty. These are a few examples of brands with strong followings that go for natural ingredients such as algin.

Also Known As

In addition to being called algin, this compound is also sometimes called alginic acid, or may be called brown seaweed extract. In skin care, though, the term “algin” is by far the most common on ingredient labels.

90,000 Alginate mask. What’s this? How does it work? – nekrasivyihnet.ru

Korean cosmetics never ceases to amaze with their innovations. And although alginate masks can no longer be called a novelty in the full sense of the word, there are still many questions about how it works. Well. Let’s see if this product is really as good as they write in fashion magazines.

    What is an alginate mask?

Alginate mask is a cosmetic procedure based on the interaction of the skin with algin (sodium alginate, sodium salt of alginic acid), a compound obtained from seaweed.Another essential ingredient is calcium sulfate. When mixed with water, these two powdered compounds form a hydrocolloid gel, which becomes a conduit for the active ingredients, facilitating their slow migration into the skin.

What is an alginate mask for?

    • Fast skin hydration . The tandem of algin and water quickly restores the moisture balance of the skin. And this, as you know, leads to the visual smoothing of fine wrinkles, radiance and just a healthy appearance of the face.
    • Detox . Algin carries out a light exchange of oxygen in cells, helps to absorb and remove toxins from the skin surface.
    • Rejuvenation. Alginate masks contain algae that stimulate collagen synthesis, supply the epidermis with essential minerals and trace elements.
    • Since seaweed accelerates fat metabolism , they are indispensable in anti-cellulite programs for the body and face.
    • Reducing skin puffiness, tightening pores .
    • Improvement of blood circulation.

In addition, alginate masks can be further enhanced with various natural additives: powdered herbal extracts, hydrolates, various types of clay, essential oils, etc.

What type of skin are alginate masks suitable for?

Manufacturers assure that this product is universal – suitable for any type of face. But it is especially useful for dry epidermis. And, of course, this is a must-have in winter, when the air outside and indoors is very dry.

How to use an alginate mask?

If you bought a liquid mask, then simply apply the gel to a clean face for the time indicated on the package. And when the mass hardens, carefully remove the film from the face.

But with dry powdered alginate, it’s not so simple. The mixture absorbs water very quickly and is often mixed with lumps. To prevent this from happening, dilute the mask with cold water. And as soon as mixed – immediately distribute on the skin.

And one more tip to remove the frozen film quickly and without loss – smear your eyebrows with a greasy cream.

    A fly in the ointment

Cases of an allergic reaction to any of the components of the product are not uncommon, so first test the mask for skin sensitivity.

And one more thing. The popularity of alginate masks and their reputation as “good moisturizers” has led to the fact that the cosmetic market has been flooded with many similar products, proudly bearing the same name. Therefore, in order not to be disappointed, before purchasing, first read the reviews on a specific mask with alginate.

Alginate masks – is it worth trying? Definitely yes. But don’t expect fantastic effects from them right away. It is desirable to use them in a course and in combination with the use of, for example, a mesoscooter, nutrition and skin cleansing.

    90,000 Lyubov Algin. Return – Internet-magazine “Lyceum”

    Drawing by Lyubov Algina

Exhibition of early works by Lyubov Algina, open until February 22 at the Children’s Art School of Petrozavodsk, is not accidentally named “The Most Beautiful Time”.

For a young artist from Petrozavodsk, who studied here in an ordinary school and did not know about her talent, but simply drew endlessly with a pencil, pen, brush, everything that surprised, delighted and pleased her, school years, especially in the older classes, probably, judging by her work, and it was the most wonderful time.

There are not so many people who are involved in the discovery of the unique talent of our countrywoman. The wonderful teacher Serafima Fedorovna Ivanchenkova is no longer in the world. But still, many people of art remember her, thank God. Serafima Fedorovna in the fifties-sixties taught drawing and drawing at the 11th Petrozavodsk school, where Lyuba also studied. The gifted girl became one of the teacher’s favorite students. And Lyuba studied painting and drawing with Andrei Andreevich Derevensky, he led a circle of fine arts in the old Petrozavodsk Palace of Pioneers on the embankment.

Even earlier, having accidentally seen the drawings of the seventh-grader Lyuba Algina, who studied at an eight-year school on the outskirts of Petrozavodsk, Evgeny Davydov, a journalist of the youth republican newspaper “Komsomolets”, took over her patronage. From the moment of their acquaintance, drawings of a young talent, made with a pen, began to decorate the notes of children from the school of juniors at the same newspaper.

And then one day…. The all-Union publication Pionerskaya Pravda, which is very popular among schoolchildren, has announced a competition for the best wall newspaper in the country. A newspaper was sent from Petrozavodsk to Moscow, designed by the seventh-grader Lyuba Algina. Soon a reproachful, even indignant letter came from the capital that it was wrong and dishonest to “send a wall newspaper designed by an adult to the competition.” I had to prove (bring Luba’s drawings) that this was not the case.

And then everything turned out quite, one might say, fairly. As a ninth-grader, Lyuba Algina began to study at a secondary art school at the Academy of Arts in Moscow. Accurately opposite the Tretyakov Gallery. Then she entered the art faculty of VGIK. Then she taught at the Moscow Art School of the Krasnopresnensky District of Moscow, and traveled a lot, a lot with her students across the picturesque places of the USSR, in order to return to school with stacks of sketches.

The last period of the artist’s life (Lyubov passed away two years ago), one might say, is dedicated to the Kizhi and Kizhi environs. He and her husband (director of the Moscow art school Roman Solomakhin) managed to buy or rent a tiny house in the village of Malkovo. From the windows of their house overlooking the lake, the silhouettes of the two main Kizhi beauties were perfectly visible: the Intercession and Transfiguration churches, built without a single nail by unknown craftsmen, simple gifted people, natives of Zaonezhie.

We have been friends since school time and especially during our student years. And one day I learned from Lyuba the details of her meeting and friendship with Bulat Shalvovich Okudzhava.

    Lyubov and Okudzhava

They met in 1965: a 16-year-old student of a Moscow secondary art school, and already a famous 41-year-old poet. Such meetings are a gift of fate.

Okudzhava sang his poems, not knowing that a girl lives and toils in Moscow, still a teenager, who draws what he sings about.

A bunch of favorite drawings were brought to the poet by a writer who took care of a talented girl from the provinces. Lyuba herself would never even dare to call.

And he took it and called her himself. As soon as I saw the drawings. Passing them over, that kind-hearted lady told the poet that they had found a “gifted child” in one of the schools of Petrozavodsk, that it was uncomfortable for a young provincial woman in a huge city without relatives and friends, that she was living in poverty, working as a postman or as a watchman. And in the classroom at the art school he falls asleep from weakness …

For a long time I knew about their friendship with Okudzhava only that it was. And when I was in Moscow, in Lyuba’s apartment, I saw a guitar presented to her by the poet many times. To my questions, Lyuba answered every time: “Sometime later I will tell you, depending on the mood.” But this “special mood” did not come.

Until finally that quiet evening in Kizhi came, when for some reason we could not sleep. We silently looked at the dark sky, at the silhouettes of two world-famous wooden churches, they were barely visible in the windows of the artist’s small wooden house, modestly nestled near the lake. Suddenly I heard this story:

    – At that time I rented a room on the Kadashevskaya embankment. The apartment had a long corridor. One of the neighbors called me to the phone. The voice asked:

    – Are you Lyuba Algina? – Yes. – Bulat Okudzhava is talking to you. I have your drawings, I would very much like to meet with you.

He met me at the metro. Kissed the hand. Nobody kissed my hand then. I was so embarrassed that I didn’t even notice how we got to the house of Bulat Shalvovich in the area of the River Station, how we ended up in his office. Only when I saw my works – and the whole wall was occupied by them – I realized that this was not a dream.

Bulat Shalvovich introduced me to his wife, his mother, who came to visit him, I think, from Georgia, with her son, also Bulat, very beautiful, but seriously ill. Then he invited me into a cozy kitchen, sat me down at a table, pulled up a bowl of fruit and began to prepare food.

Can you imagine? I expected him to sing to me, and he began to cook for me. This now I know what is for me. Then I would be offended by this, despite the fact that my head was spinning with hunger. He cooked some Caucasian dishes quickly, as usual, deftly.Cooking, talking to me on the go, like my parents never said. On an equal footing, in an adult way. And it’s very quiet. I felt as if I had known this person all my life, and had already been once in this cramped Moscow kitchen.

The food seemed unusually tasty: fried meat, a pile of cilantro, tarragon and any other greens, which not only hadn’t tasted, but hadn’t even seen before. I looked at his small hands with graceful hands – the pale hands of an intellectual. Before this meeting, I imagined him to be a fairly tall man, and he was of medium height and very thin.
Okudzhava did not calm down until I became dull from satiety. Then we drank tea for a long time. And they talked, talked, talked … It seemed to me that I also talked a lot. In fact, I listened with pleasure to the low voice of Bulat Shalvovich.

He often smoked through the window. Apologized for the “bad habit”. Then he took a small guitar, the most ordinary, even unprepossessing. He said that as a shoemaker without boots, he does not have a good guitar.

Sang to me what I had never heard before. I never liked my name, I was even a little shy of it. And he told me that it was beautiful and even “great”. And he sang to me “Two great words.”

Now I understand. He tried to help me. He saw that I was lost, that I felt bad, lonely, that I was homesick.

He offered me money for drawings. He said that getting them for free is too generous a gift, because it is a huge work … But I was offended then. It did not fit in my head that I took money for my drawings from Okudzhava himself.

The fact that he liked them was the highest price for me.He understood my confusion, of course. But I wanted to help too.

Then we met with him again and again, and every time, having fed me my fill, he shoved me a whole package of food with the words “in the morning you have no time to cook, you need to hurry to class.” And I, eating his gifts, thought: “Why does he feed me, is it good or bad? It’s somehow not very romantic … ”.

Asked if I read Remarque, Hemingway? I remember his words: “When I read Hemingway, I am afraid for other people. When I read the Remarque, I am afraid for myself. “

He called often, we met, and every time he saved me. Then I did not quite understand this, but now I understand that he saved me not only from hunger, but also from loneliness, warned me against unnecessary acquaintances. He said that many people, including decent people with a position, use other people.

Our communication lasted, it seems, about a year. But it’s enough for me for the rest of my life. When later we met by chance in Moscow, he recognized me: “Hello, Lyubushka.” I was pleased that everything was in order: my favorite job, a caring husband, talented students, friends. And I am no longer a hungry girl whom he warmed up with his care. And at these meetings my heart ached, I wanted to be in his kitchen, to listen to his voice, in which there was something paternal and maternal at the same time: understanding, participation, which I had never met before, later and until now.

A small guitar – a gift from Okudzhava – to the shore as an expensive relic. And I just can’t believe that there is no longer a person in this world who devoted too much of his personal time to me, although he already belonged to a whole generation of his admirers, friends, acquaintances, not counting the people closest to him …

The last years of the life of Lyubov Algina and her wife Roman Solomakhina, who is also, by the way, an artist, cannot be called active. Both are still far from old, but they ache. Lyubov Alexandrovna, of course, is fully aware that she did not realize, as she could, her God’s gift. That is, she drew a lot, painted, traveled, but she invested even more in her students and generously donated her works to friends and acquaintances.

Perhaps there was no one or those who would make her work for her own name and promote her in every possible way.

Having fully quenched her thirst for distant wanderings (Love reached Kamchatka with a sketchbook), she found an earthly paradise in Kizhi, in the abandoned village of Malkovo, where it is easy to write and breathe, where her craving for nature and “natural people,” as she puts it, finally rewarded. In her watercolors, engravings and drawings, most often made in mixed media – with a pen and ink and colored pencils, human faces or figurines are always in the foreground.

Love found inspiration where many artists lose it: among people. She also managed to find children capable of drawing in the Kizhi villages.

And she happily gave painting lessons to a few local swirling boys and snub-nosed girls.

She often recalled the dark August evening, when not a single candle remained in her house by the lake. The engine whirred, three huge figures emerged from the boat, they moved along the dock like three mountains. The artist was alone and scared to death. And suddenly I heard: “Lyubov Alexandrovna, do you not recognize me? I am your former student, Stas. ” – How did you find me? It turned out based on the Kizhi sketch that they had seen in her apartment. On the left side of it is the Intercession Church, on the right – the Transfiguration Church … So they figured out that Love and Roman live on the other side, facing the temples. As such people should live on earth.

    ***

It’s hard and I don’t want to believe that Lyuba herself is no longer on earth. But her low voice sounds in my ears, I remember her humor, her habits, her generosity to friends and hospitality at any day and hour. We are left with her drawings, only a small part of which is now exhibited at the art school of Petrozavodsk (Krasnoarmeyskaya St., 18), and many are still kept by friends and acquaintances. Let’s hope that we will be able to collect them for the next exhibition.

And more. Everyone knows that often fame comes to an artist when he himself has already passed away. For different reasons. I recently learned that her students have personal exhibitions in Moscow and some of their drawings in spirit, topic, style, technique are very similar to the work of their teacher – Lyubov Algina.

Stem Cell Therapy cosmetics are based on the latest achievements of modern science, the goal of which is skin rejuvenation.

A team of doctors of sciences, chemists and biologists have worked for a long time on the creation of a cosmetic product, testing it for safety and effectiveness.
Stem Cell Therapy cream is designed to actively combat expression and age wrinkles, as well as age spots and dull complexion.
Stem Cell Therapy does not contain animal stem cells, the cream is based on herbal ingredients, including plant stem cell extracts.
With age, collagen fibers lose their elasticity, the process of cell renewal slows down, the skin becomes thinner, which leads to the formation of wrinkles.
Stem Cell Therapy – contains a perfect phytocomplex for express skin regeneration. The combination of the film-forming properties of pea protein and bamboo stem cell extract – the richest source of peptides, free amino acids, polysaccharides and mineral salts
provides the effect of “lifting” the oval of the face, giving a rested look, softens the skin, leaving the surface moisturized, evens out the relief.
The principle of operation of the cream is to activate the skin’s own cells, thereby increasing the production of collagen, accelerating the synthesis of elastin – the process of wrinkle formation stops.
The uniqueness of plant stem cell therapy is that they are more concentrated in biological properties, provide a dense epidermal connection and create an optimal condition for the normal functioning of skin cells.
Ingredients isolated from plant stem cells protect the skin from thinning, dehydration, protect against free radicals, slow down the aging process.
The cream contains three powerful components of eternal youth:
Laminaria extract – a source of amino acids, moisturizing components, trace elements, vitamins and antioxidants
Hydrolyzed Algin – a unique composition of an extract from seaweed. This component effectively protects the skin from the harmful effects of environmental factors, has an anti-inflammatory effect.
Seractin – a complex of natural peptides that smoothes wrinkles and prevents the formation of new ones
    Clinical studies show:
Visible effect of reducing the severity of crow’s feet -56%
Improving skin relief by 30% and reducing the depth of wrinkles
Increasing skin tolerance, restoring it protective functions and degree of moisture
It should be noted that all products containing plant stem cells:
Safe (excluding the content of pesticides and other toxic substances)
Available (no seasonality and climatic dependence)
    Guaranteed purity and standardization
SCT is recommended as effective remedy in the fight against skin aging in more than 70 countries of the world: Israel, Turkey, Germany, France, Great Britain, Spain, Eastern Europe, Mexico, Argentina, Singapore, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East and many others.

Mineral balls Oh K !, Chok Chok

Mineral balls Oh K !, Chok Chok

Behind the insanely beautiful name “quartz-ruby beads” are pretty balls made from a mixture of diatomaceous earth with algin and corn starch.
If marketing and design is not your heart, then from a rational point of view, these absorbent single-dose purifying masks are very easy to use. They are invented for the lazy, who do not want to measure, dilute and knead the powder. Just take the finished ball and go to the bright future face.

    Oh K !, Chok Chok, Cleansing Clay Beads, 1.12 oz (34 g)

    Rubies and Quartz
I can’t even imagine what a ruby extract is. If quartz powder is a mineral powder, then the extracted gem is a dubious substance from the point of view of crystallography, but a good trick to attract buyers. It is a pity that the manufacturer does not indicate the percentage of these treasures, otherwise they would laugh together.

    Analogue of an alginate mask
Although the balls do not contain the desired jewelry, they will not bring harm either. In terms of formulation, they come close to rejuvenating alginate masks. In them, diatomaceous earth and algin are mixed with cornstarch.
Algin, obtained from kelp kelp, softens and moisturizes the skin.
Diatomaceous earth (or, as it is called, mountain flour or simply diatomite rock) is considered not only an excellent adsorbent, but also a rejuvenating agent that smooths the skin and tightens the oval of the face.
Thanks to the combination of these two components, it is possible, on the one hand, to normalize the fat balance of the sebaceous glands, and on the other hand, to get rid of the first signs of wilting.

    Game Conditions
These balls are best played flat and crumbled. One of three colors (white, pink or lilac ball) is taken and crushed in the palm of your hand, and then this portion is stirred with a little water and applied to the face.

    Polishing and tightening
Depending on the purpose, you can act in two ways – do a small massage and immediately rinse off or leave on the face in the form of a mask for 10 minutes.
In the first case, we get smooth, polished skin, and in the second, there is a noticeable lifting effect like a regular clay mask.

    Cute panda….
The number of balls in a jar with pandas will inevitably decrease, and as the treasury is emptied, the panda’s face will become more and more sad. But seriously, this is a great travel option (it’s just a pity that you won’t be able to go anywhere right now).
