The Best Overall Budget Blender: Oster Pro 1200
When it comes to finding the best inexpensive blender for smoothies and other kitchen tasks, the Oster Pro 1200 stands out as a top choice. This versatile appliance offers impressive performance at a budget-friendly price point, typically under $100.
Key Features of the Oster Pro 1200
- 1200-watt motor for powerful blending
- 48oz glass pitcher resistant to scratches and stains
- 24oz personal smoothie jar included
- Ability to blend hot ingredients
- Effective ice crushing for frozen drinks
Is the Oster Pro 1200 suitable for making smoothies with leafy greens? Absolutely. This blender excels at processing fibrous ingredients like kale and broccoli, resulting in smooth, well-blended smoothies and soups. It can even handle making nut butter, though some manual stirring may be required.
Are there any limitations to the Oster Pro 1200? While it’s a great budget option, it does have a few drawbacks. The main jar is designed to handle only six ice cubes at a time, which may limit batch sizes for frozen drinks. Additionally, the plastic components and overall build quality are not as robust as more expensive models, so it may not be ideal for frequent heavy-duty use or ice crushing.
Best Budget Blender with Multiple Personal Jars: NutriBullet Blender Combo
For households where multiple people enjoy daily smoothies, the NutriBullet Blender Combo offers a great solution. This affordable blender comes with a variety of jar sizes to suit different needs.
NutriBullet Blender Combo Highlights
- 64oz main pitcher for large batches
- 24oz and 32oz personal jars with to-go lids
- 1200-watt motor
- Excellent performance with fibrous ingredients
- Capable of hot blending
How does the NutriBullet Blender Combo perform with tough ingredients? This blender excels at liquefying fibrous fruits and vegetables, producing silky smooth results whether you’re making broccoli soup or a kale smoothie. Its versatility across different jar sizes makes it a convenient choice for various blending tasks.
Are there any downsides to the NutriBullet Blender Combo? While it’s great for smoothies and soups, it may not be the most versatile option for other kitchen tasks. Its ice-crushing capabilities are somewhat limited compared to other models in its class.
Best Budget Blender for Frozen Drinks: Ninja Professional Plus Blender with Auto-iQ
If you’re a fan of frozen margaritas or other icy beverages, the Ninja Professional Plus Blender with Auto-iQ might be your ideal budget-friendly choice.
Ninja Professional Plus Blender Features
- 1400-watt motor for powerful blending
- Auto-iQ preset programs for consistent results
- 72oz Total Crushing Pitcher
- Excellent ice-crushing performance
- Dishwasher-safe parts for easy cleaning
How effective is the Ninja Professional Plus Blender at crushing ice? This blender truly shines when it comes to pulverizing ice and frozen fruits. Its powerful motor and specially designed blades make quick work of ice cubes, resulting in a snow-like consistency perfect for frozen drinks.
Does the Ninja Professional Plus Blender handle other tasks well? While it excels at frozen beverages, this blender is also capable of making smoothies and purees. However, it may not produce as silky smooth results with fibrous ingredients as some other models.
Best Budget Blender Combo: Ninja Foodi Power Blender & Processor System
For those seeking maximum versatility in a budget-friendly package, the Ninja Foodi Power Blender & Processor System offers a compelling combination of features.
Ninja Foodi Power Blender & Processor System Overview
- 3-in-1 design: blender, food processor, and dough mixer
- 1400-watt motor base
- 72oz Total Crushing Pitcher
- 64oz Precision Processor Bowl
- Multiple preset programs for various tasks
How versatile is the Ninja Foodi Power Blender & Processor System? This appliance truly shines in its multifunctionality. It can handle everything from smoothies and frozen drinks to chopping vegetables, kneading dough, and even making nut butter. The variety of attachments and preset programs make it easy to tackle a wide range of kitchen tasks with a single device.
Are there any drawbacks to this combo system? While it offers great versatility, the multiple attachments may require more storage space. Additionally, switching between functions might take a bit more time compared to dedicated single-purpose appliances.
Best Budget Personal Blender: Magic Bullet Blender
For individuals or small households primarily interested in making single-serve smoothies, the Magic Bullet Blender offers a compact and affordable solution.
Magic Bullet Blender Key Features
- Compact design ideal for small kitchens
- 250-watt motor
- Includes tall cup, short cup, and party mug
- Easy one-touch operation
- Dishwasher-safe parts for quick cleanup
Is the Magic Bullet Blender powerful enough for daily smoothies? Despite its small size and lower wattage, this blender is surprisingly capable when it comes to making smoothies with soft fruits and vegetables. It can also handle small amounts of ice for chilled beverages.
What are the limitations of the Magic Bullet Blender? Due to its compact size and lower power, it may struggle with tougher ingredients or larger quantities. It’s best suited for simple smoothies and light blending tasks rather than heavy-duty processing.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Budget Blender
When shopping for an affordable blender, several key factors can help you make the best choice for your needs and budget.
Power and Performance
How important is motor power in a budget blender? While higher wattage generally indicates more blending power, it’s not the only factor to consider. Look for blenders with at least 600 watts for decent performance with most ingredients. However, blade design and overall construction also play crucial roles in blending effectiveness.
Jar Material and Capacity
Should you choose a glass or plastic blender jar? Glass jars are more resistant to scratches and stains but can be heavier and more prone to breaking if dropped. Plastic jars are lighter and more durable but may retain odors over time. Consider your preferences and usage habits when deciding.
What jar capacity is ideal? This depends on your typical batch sizes. A 48-64oz jar is suitable for most households, while personal blenders with 16-24oz jars are great for individual servings.
Versatility and Presets
How important are preset programs in a budget blender? Presets can be convenient for achieving consistent results with common blending tasks like smoothies or crushed ice. However, they’re not essential, and many users are satisfied with simple speed controls.
Ease of Cleaning
What features make a blender easy to clean? Look for models with dishwasher-safe parts and removable blades. Some blenders also have self-cleaning functions where you can add water and soap to the jar and run the blender to clean it.
Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Budget Blender
Even with an affordable blender, you can achieve great results by following a few simple tips and techniques.
Ingredient Order Matters
How should you layer ingredients in your blender? Start with liquids at the bottom, followed by soft fruits and vegetables, then add leafy greens, and top with ice or frozen ingredients. This order helps create a vortex that pulls ingredients down toward the blades for more efficient blending.
Pulse for Better Control
When should you use the pulse function? Pulsing is great for chopping ingredients or incorporating chunks into smoothies without over-blending. It’s also useful for initially breaking down tough ingredients before continuous blending.
Don’t Overload the Blender
Why is it important to respect your blender’s capacity? Overfilling can lead to poor blending results and potentially damage the motor. Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for maximum fill levels, and blend in batches if necessary.
Maintenance for Longevity
How can you extend the life of your budget blender? Regular cleaning after each use is crucial. Additionally, avoid running the blender empty or with very hot liquids, as this can damage the gaskets and seals. Periodically check and tighten any removable parts to ensure optimal performance.
By considering these factors and following best practices, you can find an affordable blender that meets your needs and enjoy delicious smoothies, soups, and more without breaking the bank. Remember that while budget blenders may have some limitations compared to high-end models, they can still provide excellent value and performance for everyday blending tasks.

Finding the best blender for the money can be tricky, especially if you’re on a tight budget. Luckily, there are affordable blenders out there that provide good overall value for their price. While they tend to be very simple in design, the best cheap blenders can still produce a smooth blend with difficult ingredients. We’ve tested over 90 blenders, and below are our recommendations for the best affordable blenders you can buy. The best budget-friendly blender we’ve tested is the Oster Pro 1200. This full-size blender has a relatively small, lightweight design and is usually available for under $100. It comes with a 48oz pitcher made of glass, which is less prone to scratches and discoloration than plastic. It also has a 24oz personal jar for smoothies. It’s versatile enough for various recipes since it can hot blend, crush ice for frozen drinks, and make well-blended smoothies and soups with fibrous ingredients like kale and broccoli. It can also make smooth, spreadable nut butter, but you must stop the blender and stir a few times.
However, the main jar is only intended to handle six ice cubes at once, so you’re limited to smaller batches compared to most full-size blenders. This blender has a plasticky design and mediocre build quality, making it less suitable for frequent ice-crushing. On the plus side, the removable blades make it easy to clean by hand, and the jars, lids, and blades are dishwasher-safe.

It’s common for full-size blenders to come with smaller personal jars, which are meant for single-serve smoothies and usually have to-go lids. The Oster Pro 1200 comes with one personal jar, but if a couple of people in your household like a smoothie in the morning, the best budget blender with multiple personal jars is the NutriBullet Blender Combo. It has a large-capacity 64-ounce main jar for big batches of smoothies or soups, plus 24oz and 32oz personal jars. They each come with a resealable lid. In any of its jars, it easily liquifies fibrous fruits and vegetables, meaning it can produce completely smooth broccoli soups and kale smoothies.
However, it’s not the most versatile blender—as is expected for NutriBullet products. Specifically, it’s not meant to crush ice without liquid in the jar. It’s not well-suited for blends like nut butter or hummus since you must stop frequently and stir the recipe to keep the ingredients in contact with the blades. It’s easy to clean by hand, and the main jar and blades are dishwasher-safe, but the personal jar’s separate blade assembly must be cleaned by hand.

If you like to blend frozen drinks like margaritas and need a big pitcher to serve a crowd, you might prefer the Ninja Professional Βlender 1000. This blender takes no time to pulverize ice cubes into snow-like crushed ice. Its 72-ounce pitcher can handle big batches of blended cocktails and frozen drinks like cocktails. The lid has a pouring spout, so you can easily serve drinks from the pitcher without spilling. It’s sturdier than the NutriBullet Blender Combo, which is especially important if you regularly use it for tough tasks like crushing ice. The sharp blades make it hard to clean by hand, but the jar and lid are dishwasher-safe.
However, it’s less versatile than the previous picks since it isn’t safe for hot blending. It also makes a grainy puree with fibrous ingredients, which might be disappointing if you want to make drinks that include fruit like pineapple. It has no blending programs, so you must start and stop the blender manually. If you like pushing a button and turning your attention to something else, you might prefer the Ninja Professional Plus Blender with Auto-iQ. It’s slightly more expensive but has a few programs, including ‘Smoothie’ and ‘Ice Crushing’. Otherwise, it performs very similarly.

The best budget food processor/blender combo we’ve tested is the Ninja Foodi Power Pitcher SS201. Even though it doesn’t come with a separate food processing bowl like some more expensive combo blenders, it’s an affordable option if you want a blender that can help with food processing. It comes with a dough blade that you can use in the main pitcher to help form bread or cookie dough. There’s an automatic blending program for dough and chopping using the main blade assembly.
It also offers a versatile blending performance since it’s easy to use for harder blends like crushing ice and making nut butter. Unfortunately, it’s not the best at blending fibrous fruits and vegetables, which results in grainy soups and smoothies. It’s also not safe to use for hot blending. It’s decently well-built but quite loud when running and, like other Ninja blenders, has sharp blades that make it tricky to clean by hand.

The best budget personal blender is the Magic Bullet Mini. If you want to spend as little as possible on a blender or want the best cheap blender for smoothies, it’s worth considering. This compact blender looks like a smaller version of pricier NutriBullet blenders, and it doesn’t need much space on the counter or in a cupboard. It does an excellent job of blending fibrous ingredients like kale and blueberries, so it can make a well-blended smoothie with most recipes. It’s also quiet for a blender, which is nice if you like to blend a drink in the morning.
However, it’s not meant for crushing ice without liquid in the jar, so it’s not suitable if you want to make crushed ice for cocktails. Compared to many personal blenders, it doesn’t come with a resealable lid for its jar, which isn’t ideal if you want to bring your smoothie on the go. Its lower price point is reflected in its plasticky, cheap-feeling build. Still, it’s worth considering if you want something inexpensive for quick blends like smoothies and protein shakes.

Notable Mentions
- NutriBullet Rx:
The NutriBullet Rx is a compact full-size blender with a small capacity. It’s fantastic for blending fibrous ingredients for recipes like soups and smoothies. It stands out from similarly-priced options like the Ninja Foodi Power Pitcher SS201 because it can heat ingredients with a seven-minute blending program. However, the manufacturer warns against using it to blend ingredients that are already hot, which is an annoying limitation.

If a smoothie is part of your morning routine or a typical post-workout snack, you’ll want a blender that makes quick work of ingredients like chunks of frozen fruit and leafy greens like kale. A good smoothie blender can handle large and small amounts of fibrous ingredients and help with a bigger variety of kitchen chores. Many full-size blenders come with personal-sized jars to blend single-serve smoothies.
The best blenders for smoothies make it easy to whip up a silky, delicious drink and are simple to clean afterward. Depending on your preferences, you may also want something with preset modes for simple one-press smoothie blending or even a battery-powered model so you can make a fresh drink during your lunch break.
We’ve tested over 85 blenders, and below are our recommendations for the best smoothie makers. This list focuses on the best full-size blenders for smoothies, but most personal and bullet blenders are intended for smoothie making, so you can also find some great options on our lists of the best personal blenders and best bullet blenders. The Vitamix 5200 is the best blender for smoothies we’ve tested. This sturdy, premium blender might be overkill if you want a blender for simple smoothies, but if you’re looking for a durable machine and the smoothest blends, it’s a great option. It comes with a 64-ounce jar to accommodate big batches and easily makes an incredibly smooth puree with ingredients that some blenders struggle with, like leafy greens or fruit skin. It only comes with one jar, but unlike many full-size blenders, it processes small batches for single-serves just as well as bigger batches. If you want a smaller jar for single-serve smoothies, you can purchase a personal-sized blending jar and to-go lid separately from Vitamix.
It’s extremely well-built and has a long seven-year warranty (depending on where you buy it). Its controls are simple, consisting of a speed dial and a switch for pulsing. That’s all you need for any recipe, but it means you stop the blender manually when it’s done. If you want features like automatic blending programs, you might prefer the Vitamix A3500. As part of Vitamix’s ‘Ascent’ Series, it’s a more expensive option, but it’s packed with extra features, including five blending programs and a companion app that you can use to access more. The A3500’s jar is also dishwasher-safe, unlike the 5200’s.

The KitchenAid K400 is a cheaper option with a similar performance when blending common smoothie ingredients, like fruit, leafy greens, and ice cubes. It’s less well-built than the Vitamix 5200 and has a shorter, one-year warranty. Still, it blends fibrous ingredients like fruit and leafy greens very efficiently, whether making a personal smoothie or using the blender’s full capacity to make multiple servings. Like the Vitamix, it only comes with its main jar, but KitchenAid sells personal jars for single-serve smoothies separately. Its controls also include a few blending programs, so you don’t necessarily need to stop the blender manually when your smoothie is done.
It’s more challenging to clean by hand than the Vitamix since it can be difficult to reach under the blades. However, that’s most noticeable with sticky ingredients, so it’s less of an issue if you make liquid recipes like smoothies. It doesn’t include a tamper and isn’t easy to use for thicker recipes like hummus or nut butter. Again, it’s fine if you only use your blender for smoothies, but if you care about overall versatility, it’s worth keeping in mind.

If you’re looking for a cheaper option (with an arguably more entertaining name) and mainly use your blender for smoothies, you might prefer the Breville the Fresh & Furious. It’s less versatile than the KitchenAid K400 or Vitamix 5200 since it can’t hot blend, but it can make an equally well-blended smoothie, even with stubborn ingredients like leafy greens. It has no difficulty crushing ice cubes, and its controls include ‘Smoothie’ and ‘Green Smoothie’ blending programs, which is nice if you want to multitask while the blender runs. It’s also quieter than the KitchenAid and easier to clean by hand since its design makes it easier to reach the jar’s bottom and clean around the blades.
While it’s well-built overall, it feels less premium than the previous, more expensive picks. It has a slightly smaller capacity than K400 and takes more blending time to produce similar results. Also, Breville doesn’t sell personal jars for single-serve smoothies. This blender is well-suited for blending small batches in its main jar, but if you want personal jars, you might prefer the Ninja Mega Kitchen System. It’s louder, bigger, and less suitable for making big batches of smoothies, but it comes with at least one personal jar that you can use to blend silky smoothies for one.

The Oster Pro 1200 is the best budget blender for smoothies we’ve tested. Unlike the rest of the picks, this blender doesn’t feel very durable. Its 48oz main jar is also the smallest, which might be an issue if you usually blend multiple servings. That said, it comes with a 24oz jar and to-go lid, so you don’t need to spend extra if you want a personal blending jar that doubles as a travel cup. When it comes to making smoothies, it doesn’t quite match the virtually perfectly smooth texture you get with all of the previous picks, but it’ll still do a fantastic job with most recipes.
It easily crushes ice, but the manufacturer says not to add more than six ice cubes at once, while most full-size blenders can handle twice that. You can remove the blade assembly from the main jar, making it easy to clean by hand. However, it only comes with one blade assembly instead of one for each jar, so you need to disassemble and reassemble it when you switch jars. Some parts of the blender feel flimsy and not very sturdy, but you can get it with a three-year U.S. warranty (depending on where you buy it), which is long for a blender.
If you’d like to see more inexpensive blenders, you might find what you’re looking for on our list of the best budget blenders.

Blending up an early-morning smoothie is less appealing if your blender is loud. You can’t avoid the fact that blenders make some noise, but you might want to avoid the loudest models if you have roommates or family members who are usually asleep when you’re blending. The best quieter blender for smoothies that we’ve tested is the Hamilton Beach Professional Quiet Blender. It uses a plastic dome to muffle noise when running, making it significantly quieter than most blenders we’ve tested. It’s also well-built, easy to clean by hand, and has an automatic program for smoothies and a wide range of speed settings.
It has a smaller capacity than the similarly-priced Breville the Fresh & Furious since its jar only holds 32 ounces. You can use the noise dome as a pitcher but not for blending, so it’s not the best blender for serving a crowd. It’s superb for making silky-smooth drinks with ingredients like leafy greens. It can make snow-like crushed ice, so it won’t struggle to process frozen fruit or ice cubes. However, you might prefer the much pricier Wolf Gourmet Pro-Performance if you’re concerned with your blender’s versatility. It doesn’t have a noise dome and isn’t as quiet as the Hamilton Beach, but it’s still very quiet for a full-size blender. It also has a bigger 64oz capacity, a better build quality, and a better blending performance since it can make silky smoothies and smooth nut butter.
If noise level is a priority, check out our recommendations for the best quiet blenders.

Personal blenders are designed for blending up individual-sized smoothies. If you don’t need a big capacity jar and don’t care as much about having multiple speed settings, the Ninja Foodi Power Nutri DUO is a fantastic option. Its short, compact motor base makes it easier to bring in and out of a cupboard or store on your counter. The pair of 24-ounce personal jars can create a velvety blend with smoothie ingredients like leafy greens and berries. Like the Vitamix 5200, it can produce a nearly perfectly smooth mixture quickly. You can take your smoothie in the same jar since each has a matching spout lid.
While its smaller capacity limits you, it’s versatile. The 14-ounce ‘Smoothie Bowl Maker’ jar has rotating arms that help a lot with thick mixtures, which is nice if you like making spoonable smoothie bowls with frozen fruits. It also easily crushes ice, meaning you can add a few ice cubes to your smoothie with no worries. However, it’s very loud. If you’re looking for a quiet personal blender for smoothies, the Beast Health Blender makes much less noise and similarly fantastic smoothies. Not all of its components are dishwasher-safe, and it only comes with one jar, but it’s better built and has a modern aesthetic you might prefer.
If you mainly want a blender for single-serve smoothies, you can also see more options on our list of the best personal blenders.

- Ninja Blender Duo with Auto-iQ BL642:
The Ninja Blender Duo with Auto-iQ BL642 is a good alternative to the Breville the Fresh & Furious if you want a full-size blender with personal jars. It comes with at least a couple of personal jars with resealable lids in addition to its main jar. However, it’s not good for processing big batches of fibrous ingredients in its main jar, making grainy smoothies if you make multiple servings at once.
See our review - Vitamix Propel 750:
The Vitamix Propel 750 performs similarly to the Vitamix 5200 for smoothies but has automatic blending programs on its dial, which you may prefer. It also has a simpler design than the Vitamix A3500 since it lacks extras like Bluetooth connectivity and a display screen. However, it’s more expensive, and the blender is unsuitable for blending small batches of fibrous ingredients.

What to look for when choosing a smoothie blender?
How to choose the best smoothie blender?
The range of blenders today is large. Manufacturers are trying to surprise with new additional options, attachments and design of equipment. But rarely where you will see that this particular blender will prepare the perfect smoothie for you in the morning. You have to analyze each option yourself. When choosing a blender for making a cocktail, we advise you to pay attention to the following criteria:
- Design . Is it a blender submersible or stationary, as mentioned above, its strengths and weaknesses will depend on this.
- Power . It affects the quality of the finished product and the cooking time. For example, if the blender has low power, it will not be able to grind large pieces or solid foods well. Plus, low-power equipment does not allow you to cook quickly. Choose a model from 600-800 W, this is quite enough for a smoothie.
- Speed set . The stronger the motor, the faster the blender blades rotate. And then the products are crushed better, the smoothie is thick, homogeneous. It is desirable that the speed was two or three. In more expensive models, their number can reach up to ten, but if the task is to prepare smoothies or mashed potatoes, this is a waste of money.
- Bowl size and material . Usually a cocktail consists of several ingredients, and the volume of the finished drink will always be less than the bowl itself. Therefore, it is optimal to choose a blender with a capacity of at least 1.5 liters. It is also worth paying attention to what the bowl is made of. Glass will last you longer than plastic. In addition, the latter wears out quickly and retains the smell of food. In more expensive models, the bowls are made of steel.
- Additional options . If you plan on adding ice to smoothies, it’s important to have an ice crusher. Users are also interested in such an option as self-cleaning of the blender.
To make your choice even easier, we offer you to explore the TOP smoothie blenders of 2023.

The main emphasis in our article will be on the analysis of the key characteristics of each of the selected models, however, we will also give a number of specific tips on choosing this household appliance.
Rank Summary: (hide/show)
How should you choose a smoothie blender in 2023?
All such units are divided into two large groups – submersible and stationary. The first ones consist of a drive to which a submersible part with a blade-shaped nozzle is connected. On the handle is the power button and speed control. Similar models differ from each other in power, which can range from 150 to 1050 watts. Such devices are great for working with any berries, fruits and even nuts, however, certain difficulties arise when chopping herbs, dried fruits, vegetables and frozen foods.
Stationary blenders are equipped with a paddle blade and the bowl is mounted directly on the blade itself. The devices are characterized by compact dimensions, the power is in the range from 150 to 2200 watts. Be sure to pay attention to the possibility of adjusting the speed of rotation and the volume of the bowl. Such devices will cost much more than stationary ones. Their functionality often includes a pulse mode, which is a series of short starts and stops – it can be used to quickly grind solid ingredients, frozen foods and just ice.
When choosing a blender, look at its power, the volume of the bowl and the material from which it is made. When we decided on the models to include in this review, we were guided mainly by the factors discussed above. However, we did not stop at them alone, but also took into account a couple of other points – price / quality ratio and user reviews. The rating includes models that are quite acceptable in terms of cost, so that they are affordable for most of our readers.
