It is possible and even necessary to apply ferrous sulfate in the garden in autumn to perform the following tasks:
- Fertilize the soil with iron.
- Cure rose spot, leaf chlorosis (treatment is carried out on foliage before leaf fall).
- Prevent diseases of grapes and other plants in the garden.
- Protect fruit bushes and trees from pests.
- Add to whitewash to kill pests in the bark and get rid of moss and lichen on trees.
- Restore old trees.
- In vegetable stores, spray surfaces to remove fungus.

- in 1 tablespoon of ferrous sulfate 22 g;
- in a 200 ml glass – 220 g of crystals.

Recipe:
- pour 5 liters of warm water into a bucket;
- pour 150 g of vitriol;
- stir well until the crystals are completely dissolved;
- crystals will dissolve faster and easier if they are first poured with 1 liter of warm water, and then topped up with the remaining 4 liters.
You should get a slightly rusty mixture that you can pour into a sprayer and proceed to the autumn eradication treatment of the garden with iron sulphate.
As you already understood, in order to prepare a 3% composition, you need to use 300 g of the preparation for 10 liters of water.
Accordingly, for the preparation of solutions of ferrous sulfate of a different concentration, the dose of crystals is reduced or increased.
So, for 10 liters of water:
- 100 g of vitriol to make a 1% solution;
- 200 g – 2%;
- 500 g – 5%;
- 1000 g (1 kg) – 10%.
What solution of ferrous sulfate and what to use in autumn
Autumn treatment of the garden with iron sulfate is an important procedure, but you need to know what concentration of the solution can be sprayed on which fruiting trees and shrubs.
1% ferrous sulfate solution
For treatment on foliage and young trees, shrubs of the first year of planting, the concentration should be low.
Prepare a 0. 1% solution from 10 g of the preparation and 10 liters of water. It will not burn leaves and young seedlings.
Treat healthy apple, pear and plum trees after leaf fall with a 1% solution of ferrous sulfate. Such spraying will give the trees a vital charge, that is, autumn top dressing is obtained.
Spraying with 3% iron sulfate
