Common Skin Rashes | Everyday Health

A skin rash is an area of skin that has become swollen, inflamed, or irritated. Skin rashes can include skin bumps that look like pimples or sores; blotchy, scaly or red skin; and itchy or burning skin. Allergens, heat, and certain medical conditions (some more serious than others) can all cause skin reactions like these. Some skin rashes occur right away, while others take some time to develop. Some tend to occur on the face while others flare up on the arms, legs, or torso. Location, appearance, and color of a skin rash are all factors in determining the right diagnosis and the right treatment.

It’s important to note that the word “rash can mean a whole lot of things to a whole lot of different people,” says Whitney High, MD, the director of dermatopathology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver, and a spokesperson for the American Academy of Dermatology. “To a dermatologist, rash is an extremely broad term, ranging from connective tissue disease like lupus, to infections, to something very obvious” — for example, after using a new laundry detergent, you notice redness and irritation in your underarms; when you switch back to your old detergent, it goes away.

Some rashes may be relatively harmless and easy enough to take care of at home while others can be more problematic. So how do you know when to see your doctor for medical treatment? Isabela Jones, MD, a dermatologist at McLean Dermatology and Skincare Center in McLean, Virginia, recommends seeking medical attention if any of the following symptoms are also present:

  • Fever, which “can indicate the presence of an infection, serious reaction to a medication, or rheumatologic disease,” says Dr. Jones.
  • Blisters or open sores on the skin, mouth, or genitalia. “Some benign rashes, like poison ivy, can cause small blisters in the skin. However, many times blisters and open sores can indicate a serious or life-threatening condition that requires immediate intervention,” she notes.
  • A rash that is painful and that is all over the body or spreading rapidly.
  • A rash that has not improved with home care.

Dr. High notes that if you’re feeling well and the condition is not interfering with your quality of life, it’s fine to try reasonable home remedies, such as hydrocortisone cream. But if the irritation persists, however innocuous it may seem, it’s a good idea to check with your doctor. “Usually, if a rash has not improved within two weeks of starting home care, seeking medical care would be recommended,” says Jones. “Contacting a dermatologist or primary care provider is never a bad idea if someone is uncertain about how to treat the rash, or is generally worried about the appearance of the rash,” says Jones.

If you’re suffering from a skin rash, check out the following images to see if it could be one of these. (Warning: A few of these rashes might be a little tough to look at.)

Bed Bug Bite

Is this your child’s symptom?

Symptoms of Bed Bug Bites

  • Usually cause itchy, red bumps in a group or line
  • Often they look like a hive or mosquito bite
  • Bite may have a red dot (puncture) in the center. This is where the bed bug bit through the skin.
  • Occasionally, a small blister can occur in the center
  • Bites are usually on exposed skin (arms, legs and face)
  • Bites are usually first noted in the morning

Diagnosis of Bed Bug Bites

  • Live bed bugs hide and are not usually seen. Close inspection of the mattress may find some.
  • They are ¼ inch (6 mm), flat, oval shaped, reddish-brown bugs.
  • Suspect bed bugs if over 3 red bumps in a row are on exposed skin. The bumps or bites are very itchy.
  • Bed bug waste is found on bedding or mattress seams. It looks like dark brown flecks or coffee grounds.
  • A blood stain on the sheet may sometimes be found. This is from a bug smashed after feeding.

Cause of Bed Bug Bite Reactions

  • The skin bumps are the body’s reaction to the bug’s saliva.
  • While the bug is sucking blood, some of its secretions get mixed in.
  • Bed bugs are small visible blood-sucking bugs. They are about ¼ inch (6 mm) in length.
  • During the day, bed bugs hide in the corners of mattresses. They may also be found in bed crevices, floors, and walls.
  • At night, the bed bugs come out of hiding. They feed on humans for about 5 minutes.

Prevention of Getting Bed Bugs

  • Over half of bed bug infestations within homes start after recent travel.
  • Avoid hotels and hostels where bed bugs have been reported.
  • When you check into a hotel room, look for signs of bed bugs. Look for flecks of their waste (like coffee grounds) in the bedding and mattress. If present, ask for another room.
  • Keep your luggage and clothing on a luggage rack off the floor.
  • When you return from a trip, place all travel clothing into the clothes dryer. Run the dryer for 20 minutes. (Reason: The heat will kill any bed bugs or their eggs that are present). One pregnant bed bug can spread bed bugs to an entire house.

Frequent Questions (FAQs)

  • Can bed bugs transmit HIV or hepatitis? This is highly unlikely. It has never been reported.
  • Do bed bugs like dirt? Not really. What bed bugs like is the warmth of the human body. Dirty and cluttered spaces just give bed bugs a place to hide.
  • Are bed bugs too small to be seen? No. You can see adult bed bugs. They are about the size of an apple seed (4-7 mm; ¼ inch).
  • Are bed bugs scared of the light? They do prefer darkness. But keeping the light on will not stop bed bugs from biting you.

Care Advice for Bed Bug Bites

  1. What You Should Know About Bed Bug Bites:
    • Bed bug bites cause itchy red bumps.
    • They are usually less than ½ inch (12 mm) in size.
    • Some are larger (like a hive). These are normal reactions to a bed bug.
    • A large hive does not mean your child has an allergy.
    • The redness does not mean the bite is infected.
    • Bed bugs do not carry any infectious diseases.
    • Don’t panic: You can get rid of bed bugs from your home.
    • Here is some care advice that should help.
  2. Steroid Cream for Itching:
    • To reduce the itching, use 1% hydrocortisone cream (such as Cortaid). No prescription is needed.
    • Apply 3 times a day until the itch is gone.
    • If you don’t have, apply a baking soda paste until you can get some.
  3. Allergy Medicine For Itching:
    • If the bite is still itchy, try an allergy medicine by mouth.
    • Benadryl is a good one. No prescription is needed.
  4. Try Not to Scratch:
    • Cut the fingernails short.
    • Help your child not to scratch.
    • Reason: Prevent a skin infection at the bite site.
  5. Bed Bug Repellents – Not Helpful:
    • Insect repellents do not keep bed bugs from biting.
    • Repellents containing DEET (used on skin) and permethrin (used on clothing) do not help.
  6. Removing Bed Bugs from Your Home:
    • Getting rid of bed bugs requires a licensed pest control service.
    • Look in the phone book or on the internet under Pest Control.
  7. What to Expect:
    • Any pinkness or redness usually lasts 3 days.
    • The swelling may last 7 days.
    • The itch may last for 2 weeks.
  8. Call Your Doctor If:
    • Bite looks infected (redness gets larger after 48 hours)
    • Large red bumps last more than 7 days
    • You think your child needs to be seen
    • Your child becomes worse

And remember, contact your doctor if your child develops any of the ‘Call Your Doctor’ symptoms.

What to do after a tick bite

Removing the Tick

You can’t get sick from a tick that is crawling on you but has not yet attached. Ticks must bite you to spread their germs. If the tick is attached it will be hard to pull off.

Tick attachment time is important. Removing ticks as soon as possible reduces the risk of infection. If you or a loved one is bitten, remove the tick promptly. Here’s how:

  • Grasp the tick’s mouthparts against the skin, using pointed tweezers.
  • Be patient; the long mouthpart is covered with barbs, so removing it can be difficult and time consuming.
  • Pull steadily without twisting until you can ease the tick head straight out of the skin.
  • DO NOT pull back sharply; this may tear the mouthparts from the body of the tick and leave them embedded in the skin.
  • If this happens, don’t panic! Embedded mouthparts do not transmit Lyme disease.
  • DO NOT squeeze or crush the body of the tick; this may force infected body fluids from the tick into the skin.
  • DO NOT apply substances such as petroleum jelly, nail polish, or a lighted match to the tick while it is attached. They may agitate the tick and force more infected fluid into the skin.
  • Once you have removed the tick, wash the wound site and your hands with soap and water, and apply rubbing alcohol or antiseptic to the site.
  • If you have found a tick on you, it’s a sign there may be others. Do a careful tick check.
  • Observe the bite site over the next two weeks for any signs of an expanding red rash or flu-like symptoms. (see below)
  • Consult with your PCP about sending your tick to a lab, such as TickCheck or TickEncounter, to be tested for pathogens. (see below)

Tick Testing

Consider the utility of sending the tick for identification and analysis of the potential infectious agents of Lyme disease and other tickborne pathogens.

CDC strongly discourages using results from these tick tests when deciding whether to use antibiotics after a tick bite. Positive results can be misleading. Even if a tick contains a pathogen, it does not mean that you have been infected by that pathogen. Negative results can also be misleading. You might have been bitten unknowingly by a different infected tick.

What to do after removing an attached tick that has bitten you.

In general, the CDC does not recomment taking antibiotics prophylactically after tick bites to prevent tickborne diseases. However, in certain circumstances, a single dose of doxycycline after a tick bite may lower your risk of Lyme disease. Consider talking to your healthcare provider if you live in an area where Lyme disease is common to discuss prophylaxic doxycycline and other options.

What to do in the weeks following the tick bite

Recognizing the Rash After a Tick Bite

It is important to understand that a rash is not always present or easily recognizable in early Lyme disease, and this can lead to delayed diagnosis and treatment.

Please refer to our poster of varied Lyme disease rash manifestations as a helpful identification tool.

When present, it is wise to take a picture of the rash with the date for your medical record, since a rash compatible with erythema migrans rash should prompt urgent evaluation and treatment. Lyme disease is most successfully treated in this first stage.

If you have a suspicious rash or your symptoms persist, please seek medical care immediately.

The erythema migrans Lyme disease rash is:

  • Round or oval, enlarges in size over days/weeks, & will not fade in a few days
  • Usually greater than 2” inches in diameter, often 6-8”
  • Usually uniformly red
  • Sometimes but not often, a “bull’s eye” rash with a red ring surrounding a clear area and red center
  • Minimally tender, minimally itchy (much less itchy than poison ivy), and sometimes warm
  • Often confused with spider bites

The incubation period from tick bite to rash is usually 3-10 days but can be 30 days.

The Lyme rash can spread through the bloodstream to other areas of the skin.

Sometimes blisters develop in the center of the rash.

Tick bite reactions are often confused with the rash of Lyme disease.

Tick bite reactions:

  • Are small red bumps, less than 1-2” in size
  • Appear at the site of the bite, often in the groin, belt area, arm pits, or behind the knee
  • Do not expand in size when observed over 24-48 hrs
  • May feel warm and tender to the touch
  • Can last days, even weeks

Requesting and Receiving Care For the Tick Bite

If you have a tick bite, watch for an expanding red rash or lesion at the site of the tick bite or an unexplained feverish, achy, fatiguing illness within 1 to 4 weeks after the tick bite. If you are concerned about symptoms or a rash, take a picture of the rash and contact your physician.

Diagnosing Lyme Disease:

  • Lyme disease is a clinical diagnosis made by a doctor or nurse by examining the patient.
  • Acute Lyme disease is not a laboratory diagnosis; a negative Lyme blood test does not exclude Lyme disease in the first few weeks of the illness.
  • Many with Lyme disease have a flu-like illness and NO rash.
  • Fever, aches, and abrupt and severe fatigue can be the main symptoms of acute Lyme.
  • Lyme disease is different from a respiratory “cold”.
  • A runny nose and prominent cough are NOT symptoms of Lyme disease.
  • Blood tests do not accurately diagnose Lyme disease in the first few weeks of infection, so being vigilant about looking for symptoms is a more reliable way to identify an early case of Lyme disease.

If you have additional questions, please contact your Primary Care Physician or health care provider to discuss.

Common lumps and bumps on and under the skin: what are they?

As we age, the smooth skin of childhood gives way to all sorts of mysterious lumps and bumps. In a high-UV environment like Australia, we need to be very alert to the possibility of skin cancers. But most of the skin lumps we develop will be benign. Here are some of the most common, and how to tell them apart.

Moles

Moles, or naevi, are the most common skin lesions. They are formed by a cluster of melanocytes, the skin’s pigment-producing cells. They can be brown, black, pink, the same colour as the surrounding skin, or even blue if the melanocytes are clustered deep in the dermal (inner) layer of the skin. Most moles are flat but they can also be raised.

While some people have moles at birth, they usually begin to appear during childhood and keep developing through to your 40s, when they start to slowly disappear again. The number of moles you have is partly controlled by genetics, but is also influenced by your environment. Lots of sun exposure leads to more moles, and so can using certain medications, such as those that suppress your immune system.

Moles themselves are harmless, but around 25% of melanomas arise in an existing mole. Many more look like moles in their early stages.

It’s a good idea to get any new or changing mole checked by a doctor, who will usually examine the mole with a dermoscope, a hand-held microscope that uses polarised light to see just under the skin surface. If the lesion is asymmetrical, multi-coloured or has other signs of melanoma, the doctor will excise it for further testing.

A dermoscope helps your doctor see if your mole has hidden melanoma signs, or if it’s nothing to worry about.
UQ

Having many moles is the strongest predictor of a high melanoma risk, so people with many moles are often advised to have regular skin checks with a dermatologist. For the rest of us, self-examinations are recommended.

Seborrhoeic keratoses

Seborrhoeic keratoses, sometimes inelegantly called senile warts or barnacles, are another common benign skin lesion. These are considered part of the normal skin ageing process.

These wart-like growths can begin to appear in your 30s and 40s. By the age of 60 around 90% of people will have at least one seborrhoeic keratosis. They can erupt suddenly after a sunburn or a bout of dermatitis, or gradually appear for no discernible reason.

If many itchy seborrhoeic keratoses erupt suddenly, it is occasionally a sign of an internal cancer. Very rarely, basal or squamous cell carcinomas arise within a pre-existing seborrhoeic keratosis. Seborrhoeic keratoses themselves are harmless, but can be prolific – some people have hundreds – and they increase in number as the years go by.

Some people develop lots of seborrhoeic keratoses, both big and small.
UQ

Seborrhoeic keratoses can be flat or raised, and often look as though they’ve been glued onto the skin instead of growing out of it. Their colour ranges from pale yellow to black. They can be waxy, warty or scaly, and anywhere between 1mm and several centimetres across.

Those that are dark and large can look alarming, but when seen under a dermoscope they usually have a characteristic brain-like or banksia-like appearance and are easily distinguished from skin cancers. If in doubt, your doctor will take a biopsy to investigate further, since a melanoma can occasionally simulate a seborrhoeic keratosis.

Seborrhoeic keratoses can be annoying if they snag on clothes or get in the way of your razor, and some people find them unsightly. In these cases they can be removed by freezing, cutting them off, burning, laser surgery, chemical peels or excision with scalpel or scissors.

This lesion looks alarming at first glance, but under a dermoscope it’s obvious by the banksia-like appearance that it’s a benign seborrhoeic keratosis.
UQ

Cysts

A cyst is a round lesion made of a capsule filled with keratin (the structural material that makes up the outer layer of our skin), sebum (the oil from our skin), fluid or pus-like material. Firm or squishy to the touch, they are totally benign. At least 20% of adults will have a cyst of some sort in their life.

Sometimes cysts form when injured skin gets tucked in to form a pocket and the maturing and dying skin cells build up inside it. Other cysts are formed when epidermal cells, normally found on the surface of the skin, proliferate in the deeper dermis and fill up in a similar way.

Some cysts form when a hair follicle, sweat duct or mucous gland becomes blocked and fluid builds up behind the blockage. Ganglion cysts form when fluid from nearby joints leaks into a capsule under the skin. Several genes can make you more susceptible to forming cysts of various sorts.

The material inside a cyst can range from watery to soft-cheese-like, and can be odourless or smelly. A central pore may be visible on the cyst, but beware of trying to pop and drain the cyst yourself – it can become infected if you don’t clean it adequately.

Usually the only way to get rid of a cyst permanently is to surgically remove its encapsulating wall. If it is only drained of fluid, it will just fill up again.

Fortunately, a dermatologist can usually remove a cyst in a short procedure with a little local anaesthetic. This is demonstrated in the weirdly popular videos of Dr Pimple Popper (which, by the way, you might not want to watch at lunch).

Haemangiomas

Haemangiomas are another benign, usually painless skin lesion, formed from an excessive growth of blood vessels in the skin. They are usually firm lumps and can present as cherry angiomas, venous lakes or spider angiomas. Depending on how deep in the skin they are, they can be red, purple or even deep blue.

The author’s collection of cherry angiomas.
Glen Wimberley/UQ

Cherry angiomas are round or oval, sharply defined, bright red bumps, usually less than half a centimetre wide. If found on the lip, they are called venous lakes.

Spider angiomas also have a tiny central red lump, but with red lines (capillaries) wriggling outwards like the legs of a spider. They usually appear on the face and upper body.

If many spider angiomas suddenly appear, it can be a sign of high oestrogen or poor liver function, but, as a rule, isolated spider angiomas are not a cause for worry.

Rarely, angiomas mimic amelanotic (non-pigmented) nodular melanomas. These need to be excised for further testing.

The rest don’t require treatment except for cosmetic reasons. In that case, the angioma can be frozen with liquid nitrogen, burnt off with electrosurgery, or treated with lasers.

Dermatofibromas

Dermatofibromas are firm small nodules, which are sometimes itchy and might be mistaken for an insect bite. In fact, most probably they also evolve from some types of insect bites.

They are usually 1cm across or smaller, seem to be in the surface layer of the skin and, if you pinch one, a dimple will appear in it. On pale skin, they range from pink to light brown, and on darker skin from dark brown to black, and can be paler in the middle.

Dermatofibroma.
Glen Wimberley/UQ

They are caused by a benign proliferation of fibroblast cells (the main cells in connective tissue), perhaps in response to a mild skin injury, but it’s not clear why this happens. The immune system seems to keep them in check, as several new dermatofibromas can appear when a person’s immune system is suppressed.

Like seborrhoeic keratoses, dermatofibromas are harmless but can be annoying. In this case, they are removed by simple surgical excision. If they are ulcerated, have recently become bigger or are unusually coloured, your doctor will excise them to check they aren’t melanomas or basal cell carcinomas.

Lipoma

Lipomas are not, strictly speaking, a skin lesion at all. Often appearing similar to cysts, lipomas are actually slow-growing tumours of fat cells surrounded by a fibrous capsule. They don’t actually grow in the skin, but in the subcutaneous layer underneath.

Two large lipomas on the back.
James Heilman, MD

Like cysts, they are very common and not malignant. Many people with lipomas have a family history of lipomas, so there’s probably a genetic cause. Some lipomas might arise after a blunt injury to the site, but the mechanism causing that is not well understood.

The egg or dome-shaped lipoma usually feels rubbery and moves around easily under the skin. This makes them easy to diagnose clinically, though doctors sometimes use a deep skin biopsy to be sure.

Most lipomas are not painful to touch, but they can grow as big as 10cm across and restrict movement of nearby muscles or joints. If that’s the case, or you are bothered by its appearance, lipoma can be treated by surgically removing the whole tumour, liposuction to drain the inside, or simple squeeze technique, where a doctor makes a small incision in the skin and squeezes out the fat tissue.

When to get it checked

Any lump, bump or lesion on your skin is worth showing to a doctor if it’s worrying you, but there are some red flags that should prompt you to make the appointment sooner rather than later.

A newly appeared mole or an existing mole that starts growing or changing colour should be checked. If the lesion bleeds very easily – at a touch – get it looked at as soon as possible. Painful lumps are another sign all is not right.

Here’s Exactly How To Know If A Tick Bite Could Be Lyme Disease

I randomly found a tick on my side earlier this week and did what anyone would do: I had a minor freak-out, ripped it off my body, flushed it down the toilet, and texted my husband about how gross the experience was. But, even though the tick is long gone, I’ve been silently spazzing about it ever since.

After all, I’ve repeatedly read about how Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Foster, along with her daughter Bella Hadid, and singer Avril Lavigne have been left incapacitated by the tick-borne Lyme disease, and I have an aunt who has battled the disease for years. The small, itchy red bump the tick left behind is a constant reminder that Lyme disease, the tick-borne illness caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi, could happen to anyone—including me.

Now that the weather is warmer and we start to spend more time outdoors, there’s a greater chance that we’ll all be more exposed to ticks—and potentially Lyme disease. Is my freak-out justified?

Maybe, says board-certified infectious disease specialist Amesh A. Adalja, M.D., an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. While approximately 30,000 new cases of the disease are reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) each year, Adalja says everyone’s personal risk really depends on where they live. “In Pennsylvania, for example, the ticks have a high prevalence of Lyme disease, so there’s a high likelihood,” he says. “But if you’re not in one of those areas, the likelihood is less.”

The CDC has a map online that breaks down high-risk areas, which are largely concentrated in the northeastern U.S., as well as parts of Wisconsin and Minnesota. Nancy Troyano, Ph.D., an entomologist with Rentokil pest control, warns that “the prediction for this season is a higher prevalence of ticks than we usually see around this time.”

It also matters how long the tick is latched on to your body Adalja says. “It has to be attached for 48 to 72 hours—it won’t instantly pass” the bacteria, he says.

While Lyme disease isn’t the only disease that can be passed from ticks (Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Ehrlichiosis are two notable tick-borne illnesses), you shouldn’t automatically assume that you’ll get sick from having a tick bite, says William Schaffner, M.D., an infectious-disease specialist and professor at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. “There are many tick bites and, even taking all of the tick-borne illnesses together, relatively few illnesses,” he tells SELF.

Schaffner urges prevention—namely in the form of wearing insect repellent with DEET when you’re going to be in bushy or wooded areas. But, if you spot a tick on your body, he recommends staying calm and following the proper procedure to get rid of it. That means getting a tissue, grabbing the tick firmly as close to the surface of your skin as possible, and very slowly pulling it out, perpendicular to your skin. “You don’t want to yank it—you can leave the head embedded,” he says. “Pull it out slowly and steadily.” (I definitely pulled a little too enthusiastically and now have two little holes where the tick had latched on.)

You may have a little redness or a bump for three to four days afterward, but it should go away, he says.

However, if you were bitten by a tick carrying Lyme disease, you can start to experience symptoms within week or so, says Adalja. Those include flu-like symptoms like a fever, chills, and rash, and often a “bulls-eye rash” with a red dot in the center and a ring around it that spreads outward. (According to the CDC, the rash is rarely itchy or painful.)

If you notice any of these symptoms after removing a tick or being in an area where ticks are prevalent, call your doctor. Early detection is important with Lyme disease, Schaffner says: “Antibiotic treatment can eradicate it if you catch it early.”

To lower the odds it will happen to you, Adalja recommends doing a bodily inspection after you’ve been outdoors in a rural area or your yard. “If you inspect your body every 24 hours, it’s unlikely you’ll contract Lyme disease,” he says.

Cellulitis is an infection caused by a bacteria, typically streptococcus or staphylococcus, entering through a crack or break in your skin. It may also enter through areas of dry, flaky, or swollen skin.

Cellulitis causes red, painful, tender, hot, swollen skin and may or may not be accompanied by oozing, blisters, red spots, or skin dimpling. It may spread quickly. While it typically presents as a rash on the lower legs, it can also occur as a rash on the arms, face, and other areas.

A severe infection may cause fever, chills, and red streaks. The infection can spread to the lymph nodes and bloodstream, so cellulitis requires immediate medical attention because it can become life-threatening.

If you have symptoms of cellulitis with a fever or a rash that is changing rapidly, seek medical attention immediately.

Chickenpox is a virus that causes itchy, red, fluid-filled blisters all over the body accompanied by a fever, body aches, a sore throat, and loss of appetite 10 to 21 days after exposure to the virus. It is extremely contagious until every blister has crusted over and it usually lasts for five to 10 days.

Children afflicted with chickenpox should be kept out of school to avoid spreading it to other children.

Contact your doctor if the rash spreads to one or both eyes; the rash gets very red, warm or tender; the rash is accompanied by dizziness, confusion, rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, tremors, loss of muscle coordination, worsening cough, vomiting, stiff neck, or a fever higher than 102° F; or if anyone in the household is immune deficient or younger than 6 months old.

Today, there is a safe, effective vaccine that can prevent chickenpox.

Contact dermatitis is a rash that appears within a few hours to a few days after your skin comes into contact with an allergen or irritant. The rash has a visible border where your skin came into contact with the offending substance. Your skin will be itchy, red, raw, or scaly and may have blisters that weep, ooze, or become crusty. While it isn’t contagious or life-threatening, it can make you pretty miserable.

You should try to identify what caused your reaction and avoid it in the future to prevent future occurrences of contact dermatitis. It may take two to four weeks after getting rid of the item that caused the contact dermatitis for the rash to clear up. Cool, wet compresses and anti-itch creams can help relieve symptoms in the meantime.

A diaper rash is a common form of inflamed skin that occurs on areas of the body which are in contact with a diaper. The skin may look wet, red, or irritated and may feel warm to the touch. Afflicted babies will often fuss during a diaper change.

This itchy rash on the buttocks is a common rash for infants and toddlers to suffer from, although it can afflict anybody who wears a diaper, and is usually caused by spending too much time in a dirty diaper. although it can also be caused by chafing and skin sensitivity.

Diaper rash can usually be treated at home by air drying, changing diapers more frequently, and using ointments. Take your baby to the doctor if the rash:

  • Is severe or unusual
  • Gets worse
  • Bleeds, itches, or oozes
  • Is accompanied by a fever

A drug allergy causes a rash that may occur several days or even weeks after taking a medication. It causes a mild, itchy, red rash and may be accompanied by a fever, an upset stomach, and small red or purple spots on the skin.

Potentially life-threatening symptoms may include hives, a racing heart, swelling, itching, and trouble breathing.

If you have symptoms of a drug allergic reaction, you should seek immediate medical attention.

Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, looks like white or yellow scaly patches of skin that might flake off. Hair loss may occur within the rash, and the area may be itchy, red, oily, or greasy. Eczema typically affects people who suffer from asthma or allergies. While it is more common in children, it can happen to people of any age.

There is no cure for eczema however, self-care measures such as avoiding harsh soaps, moisturizing regularly, and applying medicated creams or ointments can relieve itching and prevent new outbreaks.

Fifth disease, also known as “slapped cheek disease,” is a viral infection that causes a bright red round rash on the cheeks, upper arms, and legs as well as a headache, fatigue, low fever, sore throat, runny nose, diarrhea, or nausea.

Children are more likely to develop this lacy-patterned rash, which may be easier to see after a hot bath or shower. While typically mild in children, fifth disease can be more severe for pregnant women or anyone with a compromised immune system. Fifth disease in pregnant women, for example, can cause life-threatening anemia for the unborn baby.

Symptoms of flea bites appear immediately after being bitten by a flea. The itchy red bump is typically surrounded by a halo and often appears in clusters on the lower legs and feet.

Fleas reproduce quickly, especially in homes with pets, and they can be difficult to get rid of, occasionally requiring the assistance of a professional exterminator. Flea bites will get better without treatment, but only eliminating fleas from your home can prevent future bites. Fleas can’t fly, but if they were human, they could jump over skyscrapers in one leap

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a mild, contagious viral infection which typically affects children under the age of five. It may cause red spots that are either flat or raised on the palms of the hands, soles of the feet and possibly the butt or genital area, along with painful, red blisters in the mouth and on the tongue and gums.

A fever is often the first symptom of hand, foot, and mouth disease, appearing three to six days after contact with the virus. Sores in the mouth appear a day or two later, followed by a rash on the hands and feet a day or two after that.

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is typically mild. Your child should see a doctor if sores in the mouth prevent drinking or if symptoms worsen after a few days.

Kawasaki disease typically affects children under the age of five. It can cause a red, swollen “strawberry” tongue; a high fever; swollen, red palms and soles of the feet; swollen lymph nodes; and bloodshot eyes.

While it typically improves on its own, it can lead to an aneurysm of the coronary artery as a complication, which can be fatal.

If you or a loved one are showing symptoms of Kawasaki Disease, seek urgent medical attention.

Symptoms of measles, a viral respiratory infection, include a fever, sore throat, red or watery eyes, loss of appetite, cough, and a runny nose with a red rash that spreads from the face down the body several days after the rest of the symptoms begin. Tiny red spots with blue-white centers may also appear inside the mouth.

Measles can be very serious and still kills about 100,000 people a year, mostly children under the age of five.

While measles used to be common, it can almost always be prevented by receiving the measles vaccine. According to the CDC, “The best protection against measles is measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine. MMR vaccine provides long-lasting protection against all strains of measles. Your child needs two doses of MMR vaccine for best protection: The first dose at 12 through 15 months of age and the second dose at 4 through 6 years of age.

Psoriasis is a process that speeds up the life cycle of skin cells, which causes scaly, silvery, sharply-defined skin patches which are typically located on the scalp, elbows, knees, and lower back. The patches are itchy and may be painful.

There is no cure for psoriasis, and it is a chronic problem that may come and go. Treatment revolves around trying to slow down the life cycle of the skin cells. Lifestyle changes such as moisturizing, quitting smoking, and managing stress can help.

Ringworm gets its name from the distinctive shape of the rash and has nothing to do with worms. It is caused by a fungus and creates itchy circular, scaly rashes with a raised border and healthy skin in the middle of the ring.

The same fungus that causes ringworm also causes jock itch and athlete’s foot. Antifungal creams or medications are required to treat ringworm.

Scabies is a contagious, itchy skin disease caused by an infestation of the microscopic Sarcoptes scabiei mite, which lives in and burrows into your skin, where it lays eggs. It may take four to six weeks for symptoms to appear.

Symptoms include a very itchy rash that may be pimply, scaly, or made up of tiny blisters as well as raised white or flesh-colored lines.

Scarlet fever is an infection due to group A Streptococcus bacteria that involves a bright red rash which covers the entire body (apart from the hands and feet) and shows up during or soon after a bout of strep throat. The red bumps of the rash are so rough that they may feel like sandpaper. Scarlet fever will also cause a bright red tongue.

Scarlet fever is most common in children from five to 15. Antibiotics are usually effective, but left untreated, scarlet fever can result in more-serious conditions that affect the heart, kidneys, and other parts of the body.

Seborrheic eczema or dermatitis is a type of eczema that commonly affects the scalp, although it can affect the ears, nose or mouth. It appears as white or yellow scaly patches of skin that flake off or cause stubborn dandruff. Affected areas of the skin may be red, itchy, greasy, or oily and may have hair loss. It’s known as a crib cap when it happens to babies.

Seborrheic dermatitis may clear up without treatment, but it may also resist treatment or keep coming back. Cleaning the area daily with a gentle soap or shampoo can reduce oiliness and dead skin buildup.

Shingles causes a rash involving clusters of fluid-filled blisters that break easily and weep fluid. The rash is extremely painful and may burn, tingle, or itch, even if there are no blisters present. The rash occurs in a striped pattern commonly on the torso but occasionally on other parts of the body including the face. The rash may be accompanied by a low fever, chills, a headache, or fatigue.

The varicella-zoster virus causes chickenpox, then lies dormant. It may reactivate as shingles many years later.

SLE is an autoimmune disease which displays various symptoms and affects multiple body systems and organs. SLE is often accompanied by a classic butterfly-shaped face rash that crosses from cheek to cheek over the nose which may appear or get worse in the sun.

Other symptoms may include a wide array of skin and mucous membrane symptoms that range from rashes to ulcers.

A tick bite can cause pain or swelling in the affected area with a rash, burning sensation, blisters, or difficulty breathing. Ticks may stay attached for a long time, and bites typically don’t appear in clusters.

The greater concern with tick bites is that they can cause a wide variety of diseases including Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever.
If you get bitten by a tick, remove it immediately, being careful to get the entire head out and not just the body, and contact your healthcare provider for assistance.

Don’t See Your Rash?

If you don’t see your rash in the pictures above and are looking for a diagnosis, we recommend booking a video appointment with a PlushCare doctor. The doctor will look at your rash and be able to give you an official diagnosis and treatment plan.

Rashes can have a variety of different causes. Common causes of rashes include:

  • Coming into contact with something that causes an allergic or otherwise adverse reaction, such as soap, laundry detergent, beauty products, latex, rubber, elastic, dye in clothing, or poisonous plants
  • Medications
  • Bug bites
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Fungal infections
  • Skin irritation
  • Bacterial infections
  • Infestation of mites
  • Viral infections

Many mild rashes can be treated at home. To help relieve discomfort and promote healing, try the following:

  • Use mild, unscented soaps and cleansers
  • Wash your skin and hair with lukewarm water instead of hot
  • Pat rashes dry instead of rubbing
  • Avoid covering rashes when possible. They heal better when they can breathe.
  • Stop using new products that may have triggered the rash
  • Avoid scratching – it can lead to potentially-serious infections
  • Itchy rashes can be soothed by hydrocortisone cream or calamine lotion
  • Take an oatmeal bath
  • Over the counter pain relievers such as acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Motrin) can help relieve minor pain associated with a rash.
  • Joint pain
  • A sore throat
  • A slight fever above 100.4° F
  • Red streaks or tenderness
  • A recent tick or animal bite
  • Increasing pain or discoloration of the rash
  • Tightness or itching of the throat
  • Trouble breathing
  • Swelling of your face or limbs
  • A high fever
  • Confusion
  • Dizziness
  • Severe head or neck pain
  • Vomiting or diarrhea

What you can expect during an appointment exploring the type and cause of a rash

Your doctor will look at the rash, and ask you about:

  • When the rash started and how its progressed
  • Your medical history
  • Your diet
  • What products or medications you have recently started using
  • Your hygiene

While only a medical professional can diagnose the cause of your rash, hopefully, you now have more information about what’s causing you to itch.

Remember, the top online doctors at PlushCare are available for same day appointments and can treat your rash without you needing to leave home.

90,000 when surgical methods of removing hemorrhoidal inflammations are needed

Surprisingly, until now many people who consider themselves modern and liberated, out of embarrassment try to avoid visits to the proctologist.

At the same time, such behavior in the case, at a time when a person suddenly has a lump near the anus, can lead to the formation of important complications as well as irreversible consequences.

In this article we will tell you what exactly there is a growth or a ball that jumped out near the anus and demonstrate what hemorrhoids look like, so that you can compare your manifestations with the manifestations in photo

If a person has a lump near the anus and, at the same time, he feels itching and burning near this area, or at the end of a bowel movement there are traces of blood on toilet paper, it is possible with a high degree of possibility to assume the presence of hemorrhoids.A lump on the anus is also possible as a result of thrombosis of the external hemorrhoid.

and the presence of a ball in the anus immediately behind the internal sphincter. But a lump near the anus can turn out to be both paraproctitis and such an important pathology as cancer. A growth on the anus may represent a polyp, and a pimple on the anus is fully possible perianal papilloma.

A small pimple near the anus may turn out to be genital warts:

But, however, much more often if a lump appeared near the anus, it is, in most cases, light blue and small, in fact, does not cause discomfort, then this is one of the most common indicators of developing hemorrhoids:

A growth, a ball or a lump near the anus with hemorrhoids are venous nodules, the size of which depends on the degree of their filling with venous blood.

In hemorrhoids, rectal veins are pathologically enlarged, unfortunately, this process is irreversible at an advanced stage of the disease.

The appearance of a growth or a ball near the anus is due to an increase in pressure in the rectal veins, therefore, such seals often appear, for example, in women during pregnancy, at a time when there is increased intra-abdominal pressure.

Constipation contributes to an even greater increase in pressure in the veins of the rectum.Often, patients reveal that a lump quickly arose in their anus, almost immediately after the act of defecation, if they had to push along with this.

A small ball in the anus does not actually cause any particular discomfort, does not hurt, and in most cases is found by chance during hygiene procedures.

If a huge lump near the anus has come out, it, in most cases, causes pain and also often complicates the procedure for emptying the intestines.

In the case of more important than hemorrhoids, the circumstances due to which such a lump appeared, and with the development of important complications, they begin to bleed. Sometimes bleeding in the anus is severe enough.

Treatment and prevention

At the end of the diagnosis clarification, what exactly is the growth that jumped out near the anus and the exclusion of a malignant process that requires a mandatory operation, it makes no sense to start immediately prescribing drug therapy.The patient needs to start treatment with a diet.

He must exclude from his diet all fatty foods and smoked meats that contribute to the appearance and aggravation of constipation. With frequent constipation, laxatives are needed.

In addition, it is directed to abandon spices, spices and alcoholic beverages that provoke an exacerbation of the inflammatory process.

It is extremely useful for improving venous circulation systematically to exercise and expand physical activity.Classes in the swimming pool are especially needed.

If the work requires a long stay in one position, you need to take short breaks to warm up.

Time should be given to regularity of the stool, on the basis of this, with prolonged constipation, it is possible to prescribe laxatives.

If hemorrhoids are bleeding, then doctors prescribe drugs with a hemostatic effect. In addition, drugs that affect the tone of the venous walls, the so-called venotonics, are prescribed without fail.

Of the surgical methods used in case of complications or when the process is neglected and resistance to drug treatment, preference is given to minimally invasive techniques.

Sclerotherapy and ligation of cones with latex rings are performed much more often.

In case of their insufficient effectiveness, bandaging or excision of the growth is done; from time to time, plastic of the anal sphincter is needed.

Speaking about the treatment of lumps in the anus, it is also directed to say about such circumstances of their appearance as paraproctitis and coccygeal cyst.Pathology in order for the character to constantly require treatment from a surgeon.

What treatment is needed if a lump appears on the anal?

A lump on the analities in men and women is a very unpleasant symptom. It is extremely rare for people with a similar education to consult a proctologist. And the point here is not at all the rarity of the disease, but the fact that only a few can really overcome the embarrassment and come to the doctor’s office.For most people, going to a proctologist becomes a serious challenge, even for strong, self-confident individuals.

Many male representatives simply decide that a lump is a sign of common hemorrhoids, and therefore refuse to visit a specialist, hoping to get rid of the disease on their own. The only problem is that the bumps near the anus do not always appear due to hemorrhoids.

If a person has a lump in the anus, or not far from the anus, while there are additional symptoms in the form of itching, burning and traces of blood, then with a high degree of probability we can say that it is hemorrhoids.

In this case, the location of the lump directly in the anal canal indicates inflammation of the internal hemorrhoid.

If the lump is located somewhat away from the anus, then it is likely that the cause of this was thrombosis, which forced the hemorrhoidal node to come out.

However, hemorrhoids are not the only disease that can be accompanied by the appearance of bumps.

Sometimes the appearance of a ball near the anus indicates the development of paraproctitis – a disease in which tissue suppuration near the rectum occurs.In addition, a lump near the anus can be an oncological neoplasm, representing a malignant or benign tumor from the inside.

Also, a lump in the anus can easily turn out to be a polyp, that is, an unnatural proliferation of tissues. Such formations are often found over the mucous membranes. In general, polyps do not pose a great danger, they only cause discomfort. Such cones are removed quite simply – with the help of liquid nitrogen.

Sometimes the bumps turn out to be papillomas or warts. These are formations in the form of warts with an inflammatory nature. As a rule, they appear with inflammation of the mucous membranes.

It is only an experienced specialist who has on hand all the necessary results of analyzes and laboratory studies to determine which cones were formed, and what caused their appearance.

Therefore, self-treatment of bumps in the anus at home is prohibited in order to avoid deterioration.

What does a bump look like on the anus with hemorrhoids?

An interesting feature of hemorrhoids cones – they practically do not cause any discomfort. Therefore, at first, the patient may not even notice the appearance of bumps in himself. Such neoplasms are small in size, blue in color. The fact is that cones appear near the anality from venous tissue, their size depends on how much they are filled with blood. If we allow too much expansion of the veins, that is, ignore the treatment of hemorrhoids, the resulting pathology will become irreversible.

Most often, bumps appear in cases when the pressure in the veins around the rectum rises. It usually occurs in pregnant women later in pregnancy, as well as in other women and men with constipation.

Symptoms of education near the anus

Since the appearance of bumps does not cause any particular inconvenience, most often patients accidentally find them when washing or other hygienic procedures. In parallel, you can feel itching and burning in the anal area.The bumps themselves do not cause pain, but painful sensations can accompany the process of defecation. In addition, small traces of blood are often left on the paper.

In some cases, large bumps appear near the anus. Such a neoplasm is difficult not to notice, as it causes discomfort, interfering with the usual life processes, and delivers painful sensations to the patient.

Treatment

If a person has a lump on the anal and hurts, then first you need to contact a proctologist to diagnose the problem.After the cause of the appearance of the lump is accurately established, you can start treatment. Today there are many drugs that can get rid of hemorrhoids. It should be noted that drugs are most effective in the early stages of the development of hemorrhoids, neglected cases, as a rule, are treated only by surgery.

Often, even before the appointment of drug therapy, doctors advise the first thing to change the diet.

The patient is prescribed a certain diet that reduces the load on the intestines and the entire digestive system.

Since the main cause of hemorrhoids is malnutrition and a predominantly sedentary lifestyle, the patient needs to exclude fatty and heavy foods from the diet, remove all spicy and salty foods.

From now on, cooking must be done with steam or by boiling. The basis of the diet should be vegetables and light soups. You can also eat cereals, lean meat and lean fish.

It is also very useful to increase your activity during the treatment period. You need to walk and move more.It is not recommended to visit the gym and exercise with a lot of weight, this can only increase the development of hemorrhoids. During a long working day, it is advisable to do a little exercise every 1.5 hours, especially trying to stretch the pelvis.

With regard to drug treatment, as a rule, therapy in the treatment of hemorrhoids consists of two parts – a systemic process and local treatment. Systemic therapy is designed to affect the body as a whole, increase the level of immune defense and improve the functioning of the digestive tract.

In addition, agents are sometimes used to stimulate the digestion process. Local treatment involves pain relievers and antiseptics that act directly on the source of pain and discomfort. For local therapy, as a rule, rectal suppositories, creams, ointments and enemas with healing properties are prescribed.

Treatment of an anal lump at home

Traditional recipes often complement the basic therapy well, however, it is by no means necessary to rely entirely on traditional medicine only.The means offered by folk wisdom help relieve symptoms, remove pain and discomfort in the anus, but you cannot completely get rid of hemorrhoids with their help.

Trays with potassium permanganate are an excellent remedy for traditional medicine. To carry out this procedure, you need to prepare a weak solution of manganese, it should be slightly pinkish in color.

After that, the solution is poured into a special medical bath, if any, or into an ordinary basin.Then you need to lower the anus into the solution and hold it for 15 minutes.

At the end of the procedure, wash yourself with cool water and wipe dry with a soft towel. This solution can also be used for lotions.

A decoction of chamomile and calendula is also good for taking baths for hemorrhoids. It soothes the skin, relieves itching and burning, and also helps to heal wounds and cracks that form on the skin faster.

Causes of the development of anus inflammation and treatment and prophylactic measures

Perianal dermatitis or inflammation of the anal sinuses (anus) is a problem that occurs at any age. Various reasons can contribute to the development of the disease: bacteria, fungi.

Also, inflammation can develop against the background of allergies or be of a contact nature.

In adults, inflammation most often occurs as a result of a violation of the microflora of the intestine, large intestine, or during the formation of hemorrhoids, cracks in the anus.

Why does inflammation happen

If you list the causes that contribute to inflammation of the anus, then the most common is poor hygiene and irritation to the area in the anus.

Prolonged diarrhea, hemorrhoids are also causes of inflammation.

Damage to the skin around the anus increases the likelihood of infection, the development of dermatitis, provoked by bacteria, infections.

A predisposition to allergic reactions can provoke the appearance of contact dermatitis in the anus.

The anus becomes inflamed with a decrease in the body’s defenses, in this state the barrier function of the skin decreases, which contributes to the penetration of pathogenic microorganisms into the anus.

Therefore, dermatitis near the anus can be caused by various reasons, in particular, prolonged treatment with antibiotics, corticosteroids.

Symptoms and types

Diseases of the anus arise as a result of all kinds of pathological changes in the rectum and the area around it.The causes of anus inflammation can vary. The clinical manifestations of the condition also differ. For example, if the anus is inflamed due to a crack in the anus, then the patient will be disturbed by pain during emptying, spasms and bleeding.

If a rectal ulcer is diagnosed, then there is a mass in the anus, difficulty in defecation is noted, anal bleeding and mucus separation from the anus is possible. Inflammation of an infectious nature is accompanied by severe soreness, swelling of the skin near the anus, as well as its compaction, redness.There is an increase in body temperature.

General features

The general symptoms of anal dermatitis, regardless of the type of disease, include changes in the skin near the anus, which are characterized by soreness, redness and swelling. Itching is a fairly common symptom, which gets worse as the disease progresses. In the acute form of inflammation of the anus, pain and itching are complemented by bleeding.

There is a deterioration in the state of health, sharp pains appear, the body temperature rises.An abscess forms in the anal area. In the chronic course of the pathology, fistulas appear, the painful condition is accompanied by aching sensations, discomfort.

If such symptoms occur, you should consult a proctologist as soon as possible, who will conduct an examination and find out the causes of the development of an inflammatory disease.

Diagnostics

To establish the cause and make a diagnosis, as a rule, an external examination, collection of biological material and examination of the patient’s complaints are sufficient.In case of complications, advanced cases, the doctor, before treating the disease, will conduct a number of additional examinations.

If there is reason to assume the infectious nature of the disease, then it is necessary to conduct a bacteriological study to determine which excite has provoked the inflammation.

Based on the result, the proctologist will prescribe treatment, taking into account the sensitivity of the pathogenic microorganism to a certain type of antibacterial drugs.

General recommendations for treatment

When treating inflammation of the anus, it is necessary to take into account the nature of the development of ananal dermatitis.Particular attention should be paid to the requirements of personal hygiene in the anus. It is important to give preference to wearing cotton underwear that is non-irritating. To eliminate itching, antihistamines are taken.

Local treatment consists in the use of a special dermatological cream containing zinc, antiseptic substances. Baths with herbal decoctions will help to remove the external manifestations of inflammation.

In case of bacterial dermatitis, the abscesses should be opened, the wounds should be treated with a special solution, and antibacterial ointments should be applied.

Treatment also consists in the use of rectal anti-inflammatory suppositories, medicinal enemas.

Treatment based on the cause of the disease

Any treatment is determined by the type of disease, its stage and accompanying factors. If inflammation of the anus occurs against the background of the development of rectal ulcers, often taking a chronic form, then therapy is mainly aimed at adhering to the dietary regimen, preventing constipation. The diet should be dominated by foods high in fiber.

Treatment of a fissure in the anus requires excluding excessive stretching of the sphincter, it is recommended to monitor nutrition to avoid constipation.

Restrained hemorrhoids are treated with cold compresses, sometimes hemorrhoidectomy is required. Subcutaneous inflammation is healed after opening the abscess and subsequent drainage.

Treatment of hemorrhoids involves sclerotherapy, cryotherapy and hemorrhoidectomy.

Mandatory requirements

Until treatment is completed, you should refrain from using ordinary toilet paper.It is better to replace it with water washes, the use of wet wipes is allowed. It is worth noting that the earlier therapy is started, the faster the recovery process will take place.

A neglected disease leads to serious consequences: a feverish state, suppuration of soft tissues, severe bleeding, which can be very difficult to stop.

Abundant blood loss causes weakness, dizziness, increases the risk of blood clots, the development of rectal cancer.

A remarkable effect is provided by the use of an enema. The liquid should not be hotter than 18 degrees and have a volume of 60 ml for adults and 30 ml for children. The sooner the causes of the disease are clarified, the sooner the treatment course will be determined. Self-medication in this, as in many other cases, is unacceptable, since it can lead to fatal consequences.

Preventive measures

Any painful condition is easier to prevent than to select and carry out treatment.To exclude progressive inflammation of the anus, remember the following rules.

Observe the correct diet. The diet should be diversified as much as possible, made balanced. It is useful to include a large amount of vegetables and fruits in it.

It is advisable to give preference to soft toilet paper to avoid damage to soft tissues. It must be used carefully, without strong friction. It is important to remember the requirements of personal hygiene, to use quality detergents.

Attention should be paid to the drinking regime. The body must receive the optimal amount of fluid. Periodic herbal baths will also be helpful.

It is advisable to avoid wearing too tight clothes, due to pressure on the anus, friction of the area around it. Plays the role and activity of life. The benefits will be from any physical activity: fitness, running, dancing.

It is important to control the regularity of the stool and the condition of the stool. The feces should not be too dense or, conversely, too liquid.Prevention should include the timely detection and treatment of diseases of other organs.

Conclusion

An inflammatory process in the anus can occur for various reasons. If one or more signs of this disease are detected, you should immediately contact a proctologist, a specialist in this field.

The sooner the examination is carried out, the causes and the exact diagnosis of the disease are established, the more effective the treatment will be.

In this case, self-medication is completely excluded, since inflammation can be the result of serious diseases, if not treated, it can be very dangerous.

Lump in the anus: causes, consequences

Danger of pathology formation

A ball that appears at the posterior opening should always alert a person, because in the near future the patient will begin to experience symptoms such as:

  • burning;
  • severe itching;
  • painful sensations;
  • appearance of blood on toilet paper;
  • discomfort.

In any case, a person needs to go to the hospital, since a lump in the anus may indicate the presence of other diseases.

For example, about thrombosis in the hemorrhoid or the primary stage of an oncological neoplasm. It can also be the development of papilloma or condyloma.

A mass near the anus, which is a hemorrhoid, always differs in signs from other pathologies. First of all, it is necessary to note the bluish tint.

These growths are venous nodules that are filled with blood. Depending on the degree of filling, the ball begins to grow. At the last stage of the disease, the veins of the rectum begin to expand, which gives the patient excruciating pain.

Reasons for the formation of a lump

A lump near the anus can appear as a result of prolonged constipation, because nodules begin to fill with blood in the intestine with pushing.

In addition, during emptying, the feces come out rather hard, and this contributes to scratching and irritation of the rectal mucosa.To prevent this, it is necessary to eat more liquid foods.

Even if the first formation has already appeared near the anus, you need to urgently change your diet.

In some cases, even stressful situations can trigger the formation of hemorrhoids. People who are horseback riding or sedentary are at great risk.

Therefore, it is very important to exercise at least periodically.But the hereditary factor should not be ignored.

If a lump comes out near the anus, the cause may be excessive use of alcoholic beverages, laxatives or oral contraceptives.

Pregnant women are also at risk. The fact is that during pregnancy there is a great load on the venous system.

Among other things, the expectant mother becomes overly irritable, and this further provokes the appearance of a lump. Serious complications can develop during childbirth.

Therefore, it is simply a necessity at the first sign to go to the attending physician who will prescribe the appropriate treatment.

Prevention and treatment methods

You need to start treating a lump with a special diet. First of all, you need to balance your diet. Of course, depending on the cause of the formation near the anus, a certain diet is prescribed.

Why does a lump appear in the anus during pregnancy

Lumps during pregnancy are a hassle-taking phenomenon. Try to get rid of them before they start to hurt you.

About 60% of all pregnant women suffer from this ailment before childbirth, about 30% after. Most often, formations appear in the second half of the term, as the fetus and uterus increase. The reason for this statistic is the constant pressure on the veins that carry blood from the anus. Because of this, nodes are formed, which can be both internal and external.

Try to get rid of the bumps before delivery, as irreversible complications may occur in the process. Lead a healthy lifestyle, eat right, and spend plenty of time outdoors so that the disease doesn’t bother you.Mostly young women who give birth for the first or second time suffer from hemorrhoids.

Cause of lumps in the anus

Pregnancy is a provoking factor for the appearance of hemorrhoids, and as a result of cones. Due to the increased venous pressure in the small pelvis, the picture of the disease is aggravated. The likelihood of the appearance of bumps in those women who suffer from varicose veins. Most often, bumps appear in the middle of the second or third semester.

Causes of cones:

  • Specific substances that a woman’s body produces during pregnancy stimulate the contraction of the intestinal walls.Because of this, the degree of activity of the rectal muscles decreases. Constant stagnation of digested food puts pressure on all venous outflows in the small pelvis.
  • During pregnancy, the uterus enlarges significantly, which compresses the intestines and veins. Blood circulation is impaired, stagnation is formed. All this leads to a violation of peristalsis – constipation appears.
  • When a woman is carrying a child, her body undergoes autoimmune and allergic changes, the endocrine system is disrupted, which can also lead to the formation of bumps in the anus.
  • Emotional background in pregnant women is extremely unstable, which is also the cause of frequent constipation. Doctors have long ordered that the psychological factor can be decisive in the appearance of certain diseases.

Symptoms of the appearance of a lump in the anus

Symptoms of the appearance of lumps in the anus depend on the stage of the disease. At the very beginning, a woman may find a slight swelling in the anus. In general, discomfort and slight itching appear immediately.

Significant pain syndrome is also felt during bowel movements.With the course of the disease, the lump increases in size – it fills with blood.

Severe pain appears even at rest, blood may be discharged from the anus during bowel movement.

The best means of prevention of hemorrhoids for pregnant women

If a dark cherry lump falls out of the anus, it must be adjusted. As this disease progresses, the woman will feel that the intestines are not completely emptied. The pains can both subside, as well as renew again.Try to get treatment right away so the attacks don’t become chronic.

Common symptoms:

  • Severe itching, swelling in the anus;
  • Acne all over the body;
  • Pain and bleeding during bowel movements;
  • Perianal swelling;
  • Serious skin and mucous membrane irritation.

Danger of lumps during pregnancy

Hemorrhoids, which appear in many women, can easily complicate the process of bearing a fetus in the last months, and also complicate childbirth.Complications that can occur during childbirth significantly slow down postpartum recovery.

Do not let the course of the disease take its course, because due to treatment not started on time, anemia may occur, which adversely affects the mother and her baby. You also need to be wary of the appearance of problems with the musculoskeletal system and the genitourinary system.

As soon as a pregnant woman is diagnosed with a lump in the anus, it is necessary to immediately begin treatment. There is no need to wait for complications, to admit the chronic nature of the disease.Remember, you are responsible not only for your own, but also for the health of your baby.

The best remedy for hemorrhoids during pregnancy

Treatment of cones in the anus

In most cases, bumps in the anus of a pregnant woman do not require surgery. For treatment, doctors prescribe various medications: rectal suppositories, ointments, gels.

The most effective suppositories are Procto-Glivenol, Anestezol and Nigepan.Heparin ointment has proven itself in the fight against hemorrhoidal cones, which restores blood circulation and relieves blood clots. In parallel with the use of all these drugs, doctors prescribe tablets: Troxevasin and Detralex. These agents strengthen the walls of the venous vessels, which helps to exclude the occurrence of blood clots.

If drug treatment has not brought the proper results, surgical methods are used:

  • Sclerotherapy . A special solution is injected into the lump, which glues the walls of the formation.Because of this, the bump gradually begins to dry out, as a result of which it completely disappears. On average, full recovery takes 1-2 weeks. This operation is painless and does not take much time. After 20-30 minutes, the patient can leave and go about their daily activities.
  • Infrared photocoagulation . The hemorrhoidal lump is cauterized with a laser beam, which stops the supply of power to it. In a few days, it dries out, after which it disappears itself. The procedure is completely safe for mother and baby; it is carried out in inpatient clinics under local anesthesia.
  • Latex Ring Ligation . This treatment works well with internal bumps. A lump is drawn into the working tube of the ligator. One or two rings are thrown at its base, which impede the flow of blood into the lump. Over time, it dies off and falls off. Only one bump can be treated in one procedure, the session is repeated after 2 weeks.

Getting rid of bumps in the anus with a scalpel

If drug treatment does not help and the bumps continue to grow, it is necessary to go under the surgeon’s knife.Such procedures are prescribed only at advanced stages. At the site of the formation of the cone, a part of the mucous membrane is excised, the cone itself is not cut off. After that, part of the tissue is lifted and sutured to the rectum.

Blood ceases to flow into the lump, so soon they die off. This method is only suitable for outside buds. If education torments you inside the aisle, they use the traditional method – they simply cut it off.

Prevention

The main goal of preventing the occurrence of lumps in the anus is aimed at eliminating constipation and normalizing digestion.A woman should follow the basics of proper nutrition, eat often, but in small portions. Try to give preference to cereals, but not rice and semolina.

Eat more fruits and vegetables, but forget about potatoes – because of the large amount of starch, they cause constipation. It is necessary to completely abandon smoked, fatty, spicy, alcoholic beverages. Try to spend more time outdoors and exercise. To prevent hemorrhoids from tormenting you, do exercises to strengthen the abs and anus muscles.

Traditional medicine will help to cope with the initial stages of the course of the disease. For prevention, make special baths of potassium permanganate or chamomile decoction. Carefully follow your personal hygiene in the perineal area: wash yourself with cold water for 15-30 seconds after each act of bowel movement.

Do not spend a lot of time sitting at the wheel or computer – try to take a horizontal or vertical position more often. Do not panic if you have a lump in your anus – reconsider your lifestyle and contact a qualified specialist.

Lump near the anus folk remedies

Pay attention! When complications develop, every minute counts. Therefore, the treatment must be quick and intense. And this can only be done with drugs.

Like medicines, folk remedies help:

In this case, external bumps can be treated with ointments, lotions and sitz baths.The inner ones are hidden in the depths of the anus, so ointment tampons, microclysters and suppositories are suitable for them.

Bleeding from the knot and folk remedies

When there is no way to make a bath, a cold lotion will help out. Fold a wide bandage in several layers, take a piece of gauze or soft cloth, moisten with cold water and attach to the knot. If necessary, periodically moisten the cloth and reapply to the lump until it stops bleeding.
It is more convenient to treat bleeding from an internal lump with ice candles, which should be kept in reserve.Making them as easy as shelling pears. Take a thick sheet of paper or soft cardboard and roll a “funnel” the size of a pharmacy candle.

Pour cold water into it and place in the freezer. In case of bleeding, free the ice from the paper, insert the prepared candle into the anus and leave it in the anus for a few minutes.
Pay attention! Any procedures using cold are contraindicated when there is inflammation of the genitals, kidneys or bladder. It is not recommended to treat bumps this way during pregnancy.

Propolis also has a hemostatic effect – due to the ability to cauterize tissue. It must be dissolved in water and lubricated with external components. And the internal ones in the depths of the anus should be irrigated with microclysters.

In parallel with local remedies, you can take inside decoctions of hemostatic herbs – nettle, knotweed, yarrow, shepherd’s purse. For 1 glass of boiling water, 1 tablespoon of the herb is enough. The poured raw materials are infused from 30 minutes to 1 hour and filtered.Ready infusion is drunk in equal portions 3-4 times a day.

And finally …

Unconventional methods of treating hemorrhoidal cones are really effective, and this has been proven by many years of practice. However, you need to know when to use them and when not to. Indeed, in certain situations, even the best traditional method of treating hemorrhoids is absolutely useless. Then it will not be possible not only to cure the disease, but even to reduce its manifestations.

Lump near the anus

After hemorrhoids become chronic, a lump appears near the anus.This is a common phenomenon, they can be localized inside the intestine or outside next to the sphincter. If you find the first manifestations, immediately consult a doctor, in the future the bumps will increase in size, bleed, hurt. In the absence of timely treatment against the background of pathology, other diseases develop, the consequences of which are unpredictable.
The transition of hemorrhoids into a chronic form is accompanied by the formation of cones near the anal canal.

Causes of the appearance of lumps in the anus

A hemorrhoid lump is an expansion of the venous walls of the vessels located near the anus, an irreversible process, periodically exacerbated. Formed in chronic hemorrhoids near the anus. If a lump jumped above the anus, we can assume that the fistula is ripening. The lump has similar symptoms. The size of the formation depends on the severity of the disease and blood filling. Reasons for the development of hemorrhoids:

  • heredity;
  • overweight;
  • constant stress;
  • work associated with great physical activity;
  • bad habits;
  • frequent constipation;
  • taking laxatives;
  • pregnancy, childbirth;
  • Oncology in the pelvic area;
  • venous insufficiency;
  • infectious diseases in the anus;
  • injury to the rectal mucosa.

Symptoms

At the initial stage of development, the lump is painless, does not cause discomfort. Due to the stagnation of blood in the small pelvis, the lump grows and increases in size. In addition, there are a number of characteristic symptoms:
Lumps around the anal passage provoke pain, itching, bleeding, and foreign object sensation.

  • Itching and burning. If a lump has formed near the sphincter, then the secreted fluid will irritate the skin.
  • Bloody discharge.With external localization, the red plaque is constantly in contact with clothing, as it grows, the skin becomes thinner, causing mechanical damage in the form of cracks. If there is a lump in the anus, then the discharge appears on laundry or paper after a bowel movement.
  • Loss of knots outside. This indicates the progression of the disease, the leg holding the knot becomes thinner and weaker, after exertion or attempts (during childbirth), it falls out.
  • Painful sensations. The knots bring discomfort and unbearable pain, this is due to the fact that when the leg falls out, it is pinched and the blood flow is disturbed.It turns purple and hard.
  • Sensation of the presence of a foreign body. A small bump near the anus will not be felt, but with an increase it will cause discomfort with any movement.

Stages of the disease

The disease is classified in stage:

  • Initial hemorrhoids – a small bump jumped out in the anus or on the wall of the rectum, it is dense, painless, does not cause discomfort. Treat effectively with medication.
  • Progressive – the first symptoms are felt, with heavy loads, the tumor falls out, but falls into place by itself.
  • Developed hemorrhoids – soreness and throbbing, as well as burning and itching are added to the symptoms. The blue lump near the anus is set by hand, bleeds and hurts.
  • Launched – inability to fix in a sitting position, severe bleeding, a lump near the anus has come out, is swollen and cannot be adjusted, swells.

Features during pregnancy

Due to the increased load on the pelvis, a pregnant woman may grow bumps near the anus.
In pregnant women, the problem of hemorrhoids often occurs later in life due to increased stress.

An education can be detected by a gynecologist during a routine examination. This suggests that the vein in the anus has enlarged and requires treatment. A pregnant woman often has an internal lump during repeated childbirth, if a sore swelling on the pope has swollen, use an herbal suppository. And also a hard process can be smeared with sea buckthorn oil and aloe juice, this will relieve inflammation, but will not get rid of the formation. At home, candles are made from potatoes, which will relieve soreness and burning.Danger of hemorrhoids in women:

  • premature birth;
  • Complicated delivery;
  • the lump in the anus progresses rapidly after childbirth;
  • against the background of pathology, problems of the genitourinary system develop;
  • pathological changes in the skin around the anus.

Many people are interested in why hemorrhoidal cones appear, and there are a lot of reasons, but the main one for which cones appear in the anus is the exacerbation of hemorrhoids.

We can say that the main reason for the appearance of hemorrhoids in the anus is the exacerbation of chronic hemorrhoids.

The causes of the appearance of hemorrhoids are associated with the chronic stage of hemorrhoids and its exacerbations because in the first stages of hemorrhoids disease, the resulting bumps themselves return to the intestines. Only with an exacerbation of the chronic stage of the development of hemorrhoids, the formed hemorrhoidal cones, nodes begin to cause clinical manifestations.

What are the differences between the initial stage of development of hemorrhoids and its chronic stage, when hemorrhoidal cones begin to form? In the later stages, unbearable pain appears in the anus, which is localized in the places where the intestines are most affected, where hemorrhoids have formed.Bleeding from the anus appears, which is exacerbated with renewed vigor during the act of defecating a person.

If a hemorrhoidal lump has fallen out, you should immediately seek the help of a doctor, since the process of prolapse of the lump is not only a complication of hemorrhoids, but may also indicate the presence of a rectal tumor.

If a hemorrhoidal lump has fallen out, then it is quite easy to recognize it. A prolapsed hemorrhoidal lump looks like a sac-like, blood-filled formation.

Hemorrhoid cones treatment

Moreover, before using any drug, doctors recommend thoroughly washing the anus and only then start using the antihemorrhoid drug.After applying gels, creams or suppositories, a person should be at rest, lying down, for at least fifteen minutes.

The duration of such conservative treatment is about 10 days or more, depending on the degree of neglect of the disease.

As an additional therapeutic action, the patient is prescribed drugs that have a beneficial effect on the restoration and strengthening of the venous vascular wall.

Such drugs are especially effective in the first stages of treatment of hemorrhoidal cones, this group of drugs is called venotonic.

Traditional methods of treatment of hemorrhoids, which include special herbal lotions and baths, will also be useful. But the use of such methods of treating hemorrhoids should be discussed with the attending physician in order to protect oneself from harm during self-medication and the choice of deliberately false methods of treating hemorrhoid cones of the anus.

It will be useful to use candles that contain only natural ingredients.

What to do if hemorrhoids fall out?

If hemorrhoids fall out, it is necessary to correct them, and for this it is necessary to resort to the help of a specialist doctor, proctologist.It is necessary to correct the fallen out hemorrhoids so that the process of pinching and the subsequent process of necrosis of the hemorrhoids does not occur.

Anemia of the hemorrhoidal lump. A process such as hemorrhoid cone anemia is very dangerous for human health and requires the appointment of special antianemic therapy. This procedure requires close medical supervision, and in some cases it may even need a blood transfusion to the patient with a very strong drop in the hemoglobin level in the blood.

Prevention of hemorrhoidal cones

The most effective ways and methods of preventing the formation of hemorrhoidal cones in the anus is the timely treatment of hemorrhoids and a number of specific rules that will be listed below. But the most basic means of preventing the formation of hemorrhoid cones is the timely treatment of hemorrhoids and the prevention of the onset of the formation of complications of hemorrhoids.

Diet for hemorrhoids. Diet in the prevention of hemorrhoidal cones of the anus is one of the basic conditions.Such a diet should exclude spicy, smoked and salted foods, special attention should be paid to the prohibition of alcohol consumption.

If a person has the initial stages of hemorrhoids, he needs to use only soft toilet paper, it will be especially useful if washing the anus after each bowel movement is used.

If possible, these instructions should be used, but if a person does not always have such washing of the anus during the day, he can do it in the morning and in the evening, of course, after going to the toilet in large quantities, after completing the defecation process.

Prevention of hemorrhoids can be carried out by preparing special trays, which can be prepared according to special recipes from herbs such as calendula, string or chamomile, you can also use a regular solution of potassium permanganate, which will be of a very weak consistency. Such baths are especially effective during an exacerbation of the disease, but do not forget to discuss the use of such procedures with your doctor. Moreover, an experienced doctor will offer the most complete complex of hemorrhoids treatment in terms of effectiveness in your particular case.

As a prophylaxis of hemorrhoids, hemorrhoidal cones of the anus, permanent soft stools can be used. This means that we will protect the affected areas from increased pressure on them, which means irritation.

Soft stools significantly reduce the risk of hemorrhoidal cones bleeding.

In order to provide it, it is necessary to eat laxative foodstuffs, it will be useful to drink a glass or more of kefir at night, and sutra, for example, have breakfast with a salad, which will be made from the main ingredient, boiled beets.

Surgical methods for removing hemorrhoidal cones of the anus

Surgical methods of treating hemorrhoidal cones are resorted to only last, when other methods of treatment are no longer able to give the desired positive results.

As a rule, conservative, that is, without the use of surgical intervention, methods of treatment are very effective, their effectiveness sometimes reaches 80% of all existing cases with the appearance of complications in the treatment of hemorrhoids.

Usually, conservative methods of treating hemorrhoids begin to bring the desired results within the first month of treatment, but if they do not give the desired result, only then doctors resort to surgical methods of treating hemorrhoids, including hemorrhoidal cones of the anus.

Today, there are also non-operational methods for treating hemorrhoids, which involve the use of special drugs that allow for the complete death of hemorrhoids or their degeneration processes, which allows them to get rid of without any risk to the patient’s health.After such methods of treatment, the patient undergoes a special rehabilitation course of treatment, which is prescribed by an experienced doctor, a proctologist. Such a course usually involves getting rid of the patient from heavy physical exertion and overvoltage.

Today, the treatment of hemorrhoidal cones of the anus is carried out quite effectively with the help of laser treatment, the use of latex rings and sclerotherapy.

DIY decorative lamp made of cones

This cone lamp looks more like a bouquet of glowing flowers. Because the center of each flower is a light bulb from an electric flower garland. Scales from cones are glued to the plastic petals of flowers, the result is, as in the photo, beautiful and unusual.

Materials:

  • Cones;
  • Garland;
  • Hot glue;
  • Vase;
  • Insulating tape;
  • Floristic wire.

How to make a cone decoration :

  1. To each petal of plastic flowers from our electric garland we glue scales from a pine cone. 5 petals – 5 scales in two rows.
  2. We wrap the wires going from both sides to the flower bulbs with floristic wire. This is how the “stems” of flowers are obtained.
  3. The resulting flowers are collected in small bunches, which are wrapped with electrical tape. Several cones are tied with floral wire.The end of this wire forms a stem about the same length as the flower stems made earlier.
  4. Bunches of flowers are put together, complementing them with cones on the stems. We wrap the bouquet with electrical tape and put it in a vase. We arrange the flowers in the bouquet in the way we like, put the lamp in a suitable place and plug the garland into the outlet.

Now it remains to admire the resulting decoration!

How to save buds for future use

The cone is a ready-made decorative material produced by nature itself. You can make many different things from cones, beautiful and unusual.

But how to save cones for future use , for example, for winter crafts? It’s no secret that natural materials need to be collected during the season.

The season for the fall of cones is mid-autumn, you can collect them in the spring. I would preserve their charm for several months!

So method one : soaking

  1. Action one – collect cones. What you want, closed, open, not entirely clean, everything will be corrected later, in the process of processing.
  2. Cleanse seeds, moss, pine needles from your prey. Use tweezers, a brush, but do not be too zealous: this is only a preparatory stage.
  3. Soak the buds in a bowl with a mixture of water and vinegar. The proportions are different, since vinegar also comes in different percentages. You can use dishwashing liquid instead of vinegar. The size of the pot depends on the number of buds you are going to place in it.
  4. After about half an hour, remove the buds from the water and spread them on a newspaper or cloth to dry overnight.
  5. Wet buds close and open when dry.

Second method : drying

  1. Preheat the oven to 120 degrees (Celsius).
  2. Place the cones on the baking sheet so that there is some distance between them. Cover the baking sheet with parchment paper or cling foil to protect the baking sheet from the tar released when the cones are heated and from debris from which they will be cleaned.
  3. When the bumps are open, remove them from the oven. This can happen both after 30 minutes and after 2 hours.All this time, cones should not be left unattended in the oven. They are highly flammable, and you need to be ready at any time to snatch them out of the oven.
  4. After removing the cones from the oven, leave to cool for 10 minutes, as long as possible. After cooling, the buds are ready for further use.

Instead of the oven, they also use the microwave, turned on at full power, leaving the cones in it for 1 minute.

Many cone lovers are faced with the fragility of their favorite material.A little collected cones lie, and then you look – some have rotted, others have dried up, as they say, “to no”. Therefore, conservation of cones , or rather their condition, is so important. Even soaked and dried buds need to be strengthened. They can be stored for a long time by sealing them with varnish or wax.

Dye is less preferred in the sense that it will give the buds color. But perhaps the color is exactly what you want. Let’s take a closer look at the required steps.

  1. Decide which bud sealing method is best for you. The preparation of the workplace depends on this. To paint the cones with a brush or dip them in varnish-wax-paint, it is enough to cover the table with an old newspaper. It is best to work with a spray outdoors.
  2. The easiest and fastest way to preserve buds is to spray them with a sealant. If you don’t have a special spray, use regular hairspray. The method is so simple that it seems primitive, but it is effective, and the appearance of the buds after such processing is quite natural.
  3. The coating with marine varnish is more durable, it is better to paint with a stiff brush and let the cone dry for 30 minutes. You should work with gloves, instead of painting with a brush, you can simply dip the cone into the varnish. So the coating will turn out thicker, the cone must be tied to a string, holding by it, dipped in varnish and allowed to drain off the remnants, and then hung to dry.
  4. Wax is a good substitute for paint or varnish. It should be melted and cones should be dipped in it. By repeating the procedure several times, you can achieve a thick, very noticeable layer of varnish on the bump.It is worth remembering only that after dipping in any sealer, the cones can close again, although sometimes this turns out to be a very desirable effect.

Decorations from cones 100 photos

And floats over the Kama Kotlovskaya bump

Published: 23.07.2015 00:00

We had to get to the top of a high mountain covered with blackberry thickets on our own, leaving the car below, at the very foot.Kotlovskaya bump is the highest place not only in the Yelabuga region, but throughout the entire Kama – one hundred and fifteen meters above the level of the river surface. Climbing to the very top, I take a breath, I look around the Kama open spaces spread below.

Boats with fishermen seem quite small from here, like toys. The opposite bank is in full view. If you look at it through twelve-fold binoculars, you can see how the landlords of the apartments of the Nizhnekamsk high-rise buildings hang linen on the balconies.From this point, the Kama is visible to the east and west for many kilometers. And it is no coincidence that the nomadic Bulgars, who came to these lands in the 8th century, immediately appreciated the favorable strategic location of the “lump”, having arranged their observation post on it. Over time, it became a border outpost on the northeastern outskirts of the Volga Bulgaria.

LIGHTS ON KURGANS

From here, from the height of the steep hill, many centuries ago the Bulgar warriors were looking at the ships sailing along the Chulman River (as the Kama was called in ancient times), leaning on the shafts of their long battle spears.And in case of danger, a huge bonfire was made at the top of the mountain, the flame of which was clearly visible from afar. So, thanks to the “fire” signaling system, the ancient inhabitants of these places warned each other in advance about the approach of enemy troops. The enemy barely had time to approach the fortress, engulfing it in a dense ring of his troops, and in the main cities of Bulgaria they already knew about his invasion and gathered soldiers, sending detachments to the rescue of the besieged.

Judging by the finds, the surroundings of the Kotlovskaya cone were inhabited long before the arrival of the Bulgar tribes on these lands.At one time, archaeologists have discovered as many as two ancient settlements here. The oldest of them dates back to the middle of the first millennium AD.

For the first time, archaeological excavations were carried out here at the end of the 19th century by Kazan historians Alexander Spitsyn and Philip Nefedov. During the Soviet years, Anna Sbrueva’s archaeological expeditions worked, and later Alfred Khalikov, the “father” of Tatarstan archeology, dug here. They found mainly fragments of ceramic vessels and traces of large fireplaces, ancient women’s head jewelry, buttons made of copper and bronze, fish hooks …

But it seems that the main findings of scientists are still ahead – significant areas of two settlements in the vicinity of the village of Kotlovka have not yet been thoroughly examined.

BURLATSKAYA PARKING

In later times, in the “rebellious” XVII century, the hill was chosen by robbers – runaway peasants, who exchanged the joyless share of serf slavery for the Kama freemen. In those turbulent times, the Kama was teeming with ushkuiniks – river robbers. Until now, there are many stories among the local population about chests filled with coins hidden in secluded coastal grottoes, about treasures buried on sandy islands. They began to search for them several times, but I did not hear about the found treasures.

The name of the village located to the east of the “bump”, in a lowland on the Kama bank, according to one version, is associated with a giant basin in which the first settlers set up their huts.

According to another version, there was a parking lot of barge haulers, who pulled merchant barges with goods along Mother Kama. Here, on the shore, they stopped for the night. Dry wooden branches crackled merrily in the fire, kulesh – burlak porridge gurgled appetizingly in a large, smoked cauldron. And the hungry crewmen, tired of the straps, kneaded their stiff muscles, gradually, without haste, sat around the fire on the coastal stones, crossing themselves, took out wooden spoons from their bosoms, slowly starting to eat …

IN THE BOILER OF THREAT EVENTS

Since those distant times, a lot of water has flowed under the bridge in the beautiful Kama.Kotlovskie shores witnessed terrible events. During the Civil War, the village found itself in the very center of hostilities: volleys and shells exploded here. Red detachments of divisional commander Azin, with the support of the revolutionary sailors of the Volga flotilla, fought from the direction of Mamadysh to Yelabuga, captured by the Kolchakites.

In the vicinity there are many graves from the times of the Civil. One of them is located in Kotlovka behind the altar of an old abandoned church – here six Red Guards who died in the offensive found their last shelter.

The Temple of Elijah the Prophet, built in the 19th century, was closed in the 1930s, at the height of the “godless five-year plan”. For a long time, a grain warehouse and a collective farm mill were located here – to this day, huge round stone millstones lie in the premises of the dilapidated church.

And today the temple premises look rather gloomy – a rusted roof, crumbling paintings on the walls, empty openings of doors and windows. But who knows, maybe over time they will restore the desecrated shrine. And again the solemn bell chime will float over the bright waters of the Kama.

PERSONS OF KHAN KUCHUM

About two years ago, in Kotlovka, I met a local resident, Leonid Kuchumov. I remember then I was immediately attracted by his unusual “historical” surname.

– My paternal ancestors are Siberian Tatars, subjects of Khan Kuchum, who moved here after the conquest of the Siberian Khanate by Yermak, – he claims. – So my distant great-great-grandfather ended up on these shores. I remember my paternal grandfather well – he had a Tatar appearance: a high-cheekbone face, brown, slightly slanted eyes, a resin mustache with a bracket …

By the way, near the neighboring village of Svinogorya there is a place that residents call the Shirokiy Log.There, according to historians, there was a winter quarters, where Ermak’s Cossacks were preparing to conquer the Siberian land. Archaeologists have discovered here the remains of dugouts, weapons and antiques.

– My grandfather Vasily during the tsarist period was the village headman for two years, – Leonid Semyonovich recalls. – Previously, the postal road passed through Kotlovka and Svinogorye. One winter two local guys stopped a sled on a forest road. Threatening with a gun, they wanted to take away the money. Yes, only the postman was not one of the shy ones: he grabbed a revolver, fired into the air – and they fled.The postman delivered the mail, and reported the incident to the headman. Soon, according to signs, the peasants brought first one of the robbers to the board, then the other …

They beat them with the whole world – by force they managed to calm down the dispersed crowd. Presumably, after such a “lesson” the desire to go out on a dark night on the high road with a flail in their bosoms no longer arose.

AND THE GARDENS WILL BLOWER …

They tried to create a collective farm in Kotlovka back in 1929, but local residents flatly refused to join it.“We can’t plow and sow with our hands,” they said. “Kama herself has been feeding us from time immemorial …”

However, the collective farm was nevertheless created, uniting two villages – Kotlovka and Svinogorye. They were engaged not only in dairy farming, but also in gardening – on the southern slopes from the outskirts to the spring, which the locals call Gremyachy Klyuch, there were shady apple orchards.

Today only memories are left of them. After the collective farm was “finished” in the early nineties, oil workers came to the Kotlov lands, setting up a subsidiary farm.However, it lasted only until the end of the nineties – soon the new owners had financial problems, and they curtailed their activities.

Will a real owner come here in the person of a large investor or farmer, will they revive the village? Then, you see, the cows on the local farms will snort, and the pigsties in the pigsties will grunt. And there – who knows, maybe they will recreate the famous apple orchard near the Rattle Spring.

So far, the residents of Kotlovka can only dream about it …

90,000 Treatment of abscesses and tumors in guinea pigs

Contents of article

Incredibly peaceful character, charming appearance ensured high popularity of guinea pigs.These pets are undemanding to care, rarely get sick. But there are diseases that need to be detected in a timely manner and quality treatment carried out in order to exclude progression and serious consequences. These include benign and malignant tumors, abscesses.

Cause of abscess and its symptoms

An abscess is an inflammatory focus in which pus accumulates. It is formed as a result of the penetration of infection, the multiplication of pathogenic microorganisms.This is a dangerous disease, with its development, the spread of the focus, a lethal outcome is not excluded.

In some cases, the animal’s body itself copes with the inflammatory process, pus comes out, the wound heals. But if the focus is deep, infection provocateurs multiply rapidly, the abscess progresses rapidly, urgent treatment is needed.

The causes of infection can be damage to the skin by hay, or a bite from other animals. If the wound is not treated, microbes and bacteria that provoke inflammatory processes enter it.Outwardly, the disease is manifested by the formation of a lump. Its location is determined by the cause of the inflammatory focus:

  1. When two individuals are kept in the same cage, fights can occur between pets. As a result of bites, infectious abscesses appear on the back and back.
  2. In the process of eating hay, micro-injuries can occur. They cause neoplasms in the head area.
  3. In case of ingrowth of molars into the bone, a periapical formation forms in the jaw area.

If the mass is small, you can try to treat the abscess at home. It is necessary to initiate the process of pus going out, for which an iodine mesh is made on the tumor, compresses with Vishnevsky’s ointment are applied. In most cases, surgery is required to treat abscesses. In addition, the tumor can appear in other diseases. Therefore, it is better to contact a veterinary clinic.

There are several stages in the development of the disease:

  • the occurrence of swelling in the affected area;
  • tumor growth, pain during mechanical action;
  • The appearance of a hole for the release of pus.

Treatment of abscesses

The main method of abscess is resection of diseased tissues, disinfection. It is performed under general anesthesia. After it, for complete recovery and exclusion of relapse, the following are prescribed:

  • treatment of surgical sutures within 2 weeks;
  • antibiotic injections during the week;
  • Rinsing of the abscess capsule, if it remains after the operation.

Periapical abscesses are particularly difficult because they prevent the pet from eating.After their removal, the following are added to the main treatment regimen:

  • anesthetics;
  • forced power supply;
  • course of corticosteroids.

If there are complications, infusion therapy is prescribed.

Various types of tumors, their localization

Guinea pigs over the age of five are at risk for cancer. Malignant tumors in these animals are diagnosed quite often. The appearance of neoplasms is provoked by various reasons.It can be a hereditary predisposition, stress, obesity. The appearance of a tumor can be caused by food containing chemical dyes and preservatives. They can occur on mucous membranes, organ tissues, bones.

A benign tumor, unlike a cancerous one, does not spread throughout the body. These neoplasms are dangerous in that as they grow, they press on neighboring organs, disrupt their functions. Large tumors can completely immobilize the animal. These formations are easily cured by surgical removal.

A malignant tumor not only grows, but also forms metastases that penetrate into healthy tissues. If such a disease is diagnosed, euthanasia is recommended, since the cancer cannot be completely cured. You can not kill the pet, let him live out his term. In this case, the guinea pig needs quality care, good nutrition, and pain relievers.

Most of the neoplasms in pets appear in the following zones:

Breast

Older female and male guinea pigs are at serious risk of developing a neoplasm in the mammary glands.Most often these are benign tumors. When a pathology appears in the lower abdomen, a lump appears that is not connected to the tissues of the subcutaneous tissue, which has a dense structure.

A malignant tumor differs from a benign one:

  • swelling;
  • the formation of infectious foci, abscess;
  • by connection with subcutaneous tissue.

Neck

A tumor that appears on the neck can be of a different nature. Tumors appear due to the formation of abscesses, inflammation of the lymph node, an increase in the size of the thyroid gland.They may be evidence of the presence of a malignant neoplasm of lymphosarcoma. Finding a lump on the neck of a guinea pig is a reason for a visit to the veterinarian. It is necessary to diagnose the pathology, to identify the cause.

Back and sides

Swellings on the sides and back appear when a neoplasm forms on the internal organ. In most cases, these are cancers. A lump can appear on the side if the liver, kidney, spleen, intestines, and lung are affected by a malignant tumor.

In addition to the formation of a tumor in the presence of malignant neoplasms, the following symptoms are observed in an animal:

  • Loss of appetite;
  • lethargy, apathy;
  • discharge of blood from the mouth, its appearance in the urine, feces.

Leather

Benign tumors are usually formed in skin tissues. The main sites of localization are the testes in males and the anal area. If there is an education on the organ of the reproductive system, you need to contact the veterinary clinic urgently.Swelling of the testicles is observed during puberty, as well as in the presence of a subcutaneous formation, a hair ring. Surgery is required.

Cheeks

Bumps on the cheeks can appear in malignant and benign neoplasms. Tumors have a dense structure, may have the form of a tubercle, bone growth. The animal’s appetite worsens, and aggressive behavior may appear.

Bones

In most cases, osteosarcoma malignant tumors form on the bones.In this case, there is a thickening of the ribs and limbs. If the examination does not reveal metastases, the doctor may amputate the injured limb.

Connective tissue

Neoplasms in connective tissues are called wen or lipoma. These are benign tumors that look like dense bumps that form under the skin. If the formation does not cause discomfort to the guinea pig, does not grow, no treatment is carried out. With a rapid increase in neoplasm, impaired motor activity, surgical removal is prescribed.

90,000 New Year’s crafts FROM CONCRETE (45 ideas for children).

Good afternoon, today I want to show you what interesting crafts you can make from cones for the New Year. Pine cones are free natural materials that can be used to create original Christmas tree decorations. Pine cones can be used to decorate the New Year’s table setting. New Year’s cones painted with paints can become part of the festive composition in the decor of the house for the New Year.Many crafts are suitable for children. And also ideas for adult cone design. Let’s see what kind of New Year’s crafts you can create with your own hands based on cones (pine and spruce).

DIY toys

from cones with your own hands.

For those who know how to knit (crochet or on a knitting needle), or sew from felt, it will not be difficult to create such winter men on skis or on sledges. We make the body of the little men from an opened pine cone. Head made of a ping-pong ball or a small foam ball tinted in beige gouache.We make skis from ice cream sticks, ski poles – simple toothpicks, fluffy wire handles. Children’s New Year’s creativity from natural material is a good idea for homework or in labor and activity classes at school.

By the same principle, you can put snowmen or penguins on skis. The head of a snowman can be made of a fur white pom-pom (as in the photo of the New Year’s craft below). Or you can make a head from a foam ball, from cotton wool (mix cotton wool with PVA glue and roll a round lump, dry it and use it as a head of a cone-shaped snowman.

And here are the author’s penguins – small (from a pine cone) and large (from a long spruce cone). The penguin’s head is made of a white foam ball painted with black gouache. Headphones made of wire wrapped in woolen thread and two small fur pom-poms. Black penguin wings are cut out of felt or formiam.

You can make a whole flock of penguins in red New Year’s caps from pine cones .. Penguin wings can be made from black plasticine, or pieces of tree bark (as in the photo below).Children will love this DIY craft.

And if you glue big round eyes and a hook nose to a round pine cone, then we get an OWL. We make the wings from felt, or formam, or from a piece of leather (leatherette). Caps for an owl can be glued from bright paper napkins with a New Year’s pattern (this is how our cone owls will look festive).

If you buy pieces of felt (it is sold in sheets, like paper, and you can buy small sheets of different colors) – then you can create a whole series of funny New Year’s animals based on a pine cone.

Pine cone pendant toys

On a Christmas tree with your own hands.

And here’s another idea for the New Year, where pendants are made from cones to decorate the New Year tree. Here everything is done according to the principle – a bump at the bottom, a character’s head at the top. Big-headed bumps are do-it-yourself crafts available for classes with children.

The simplest thing is to take a foam ball, stick the nose and eyes of the buttons on it. The nose can be cut out of a thick piece of orange felt.Or the nose can be sculpted from cotton wool soaked in PVA glue, when solidified, such pva-wool becomes hard like wood (convenient material for handicrafts, especially since you can mix any color of gouache into the pva glue and we get not only a strong part, but also what is needed for you colors).

With the help of felt or fluffy wire, wings can appear at the cone, and then such a craft can be decorated like an angel or a fairy.

Christmas characters,

made from cones.

If you paint the cone with gouache red, you get the basis for Santa Claus’s crafts. It is better not to paint the cone with a brush. And immediately completely dipping it into a plastic cup with paint. Pour PVA glue into a glass – add red gouache there. We dip the whole bump in this coloring mess.

Important! Save your money. Don’t buy PVA in small tubes from office supplies. Go to the construction department of the store and buy PVA in a liter bucket (at a price it will be 4-7 times cheaper).

Crafts made of cones look very beautiful, in which elements of red color are added – ribbons, beads, felt. These are a great idea for Christmas pine cone crafts – and simple and quick and easy for a child.

You can also make CHRISTMAS crafts from cones and other natural and improvised materials. As wings for angels, you can use lush ribbons, lace patterns. You can crochet fishnet angel wings with your own hands if you have ever knitted napkins.You can make a whole Christmas scene with a newborn baby Jesus in a cradle out of cones and pieces of felt (or fleece).

Decorative Christmas cones

Do it yourself.

And here are samples of handicrafts with pine cones decorated for the new year. As a decoration, we use sprigs of needles from a Christmas tree, green leaves from indoor plants, or torn from a bouquet, small alder cones, pieces of moss, beads, balls, bells, bright ribbons and shiny paper.

Decorated cones that have been pre-painted (by dipping them into a glass with colored PVA glue) look very beautiful and festive. After painting and drying, the bump should be sprinkled with hairspray – the color will become brighter and the bump will begin to shine like glossy. And you can quickly sprinkle glitter on the bump wet from the varnish (sprinkle for nails is suitable).

You can buy small bird figurines at the craft shop. They will look great off the top of your New Year’s bump.Birds can make nests from fir-tree needles, decorate them with red beads.

And also the cones themselves can be decorated with beads from beads, or small balls-pom-poms, pushing them between the scales and fix with hot melt glue.

And more cones can be folded together – in a snowball star. We lay out six snowflakes on the table – butts together – tips apart. And glue them with hot glue from a gun. Cover the gluing place with a snowflake cut out of cardboard, spruce legs, beads or a small cone (the tip cut off from a large cone).

Christmas crafts

from SCALES of cones.

And here is an interesting way to make crafts from cones for the new year. If you take and pull out the scales from the cone. Then from them you can (as from natural puzzles) collect any pattern or volumetric shape.

For example, let’s cut a star out of cardboard. And we lay out the scales on the glue along the contour of this star, gradually, row by row, getting to the middle. This craft will appeal to school-age children – only the scales need to be pulled in advance.

You can simply lay out a flower from the scales of a cone on a round piece of cardboard. You also need to start with the EDGES of a cardboard circle, and row by row to reach the middle of the flower. We glue fabric lace or paper snowflake to the back of the flower. We get an elegant openwork craft for the New Year.

You can also decorate a paper cone with scales from a cone. So we get a Christmas tree craft from natural pineal material (as in the photo below).

And here’s another interesting New Year’s craft.We take milk cartons (small size). We paint them in white gouache, and draw black stripes over them (we imitate the color of birch bark). Cut a round hole in one of the sides of the box. And glue the top of the milk box (it is shaped like a roof house) with cone scales on hot thermo-glue from a pistol. And we get just such (photo below) New Year’s craft in the form of bird houses. Very beautiful and unusual.

And also the scales can be pasted over the foam plastic tummy of a snowman – put on such a fur coat made of cones.A beautiful craft for older children.

Cones on wreaths

and New Year’s panels on the wall.

Very interesting decorative panels can be made from cones. If you put together any shape from the rails (for example, a star), then you can glue it over with cones – and you get an original New Year’s craft that can be hung on the wall, leaned against the wall next to the tree. You can wrap this cone star with a garland, make the backlight with bulbs.

Armed with glue from a pistol, you can collect an openwork snowflake craft from cones. And also use it as a panel on the wall.

And if you have a small number of cones, you can make a wall panel from another natural material, and use the cones as an additional decoration.

Christmas wreaths can also be made from cones. To do this, they can be painted in any color (dipped in glue-glue, tinted with gouache, or covered with paint from a spray can).

We make a wreath on the basis of a wooden or cardboard ring. We attach the cones to the base ring with glue.

New Year’s compositions

With cones.

for table decoration.

Also, cones can become part of the New Year’s composition that decorates your festive table on the New Year. You can simply spread the colored buds on the table between the dishes and glasses.Or you can hang it from a chandelier by bright ribbons or hang it on the edge of the table (as in the photo below).

You can also make a serving boutonniere from cones to decorate the plate of each guest.

Looks beautiful if you match the color of the cone with the same color of the shiny dressing. Make the buds sparkle and sparkle like frosty patterns on a winter window.

You yourself can come up with various compositions with cones and other materials. Your fantasies, interesting “unnecessary things” found in your desk drawer can become a source of original exclusive do-it-yourself cone crafts.

Candlesticks with cones

Do it yourself.

Likewise, candles can be included in your tabletop New Year’s composition of cones. You can simply place candles in a beautiful dish and lay out cones around them, painted in shades close to the color of the candles.

If you are making a craft where all the cones are glued to each other, then when assembling such a glue cone pile, insert pieces of plastic tubes inside – you can insert candles in these places.When gluing, make sure that the tube holders for the candles are glued strictly vertically – otherwise your candles will not stand in even columns, but in a curve and obliquely.

You can do it easier. Put a glass on a cardboard circle. And around it, on cardboard, attach cones, pine branches, berries, stars carved from birch bark and orange peel to the glue.

That is, any decor method is suitable for creating a candlestick. Or we put a candle inside a ring of cones and natural material.Or we glue (tie with a ribbon) natural material to the body of the candle itself. Or we put a candle inside a tall glass and put cones and other tinsel around it right into the glass (as in the third photo below).

Christmas trees-crafts

From pine cones.

And also your New Year’s compositions from cones can be decorated as tall PYRAMID-FIRES. Such Christmas trees can be folded from ordinary cones, from painted in gold paint from a spray can.And you can decorate them with ribbons, felt flowers, small Christmas balls (also glue them with thermal glue).

These are the ideas I have for the New Year 2018. Let these works inspire you. And let your buds bloom with do-it-yourself ideas in your skillful hands.

Successful New Year creativity.
