We can see the ingredient list on both packages of Cream Cheese, and from those, we can figure out that the extra carbs come from the more complex “stabilizers” used in the Great Value Brand.

Thankfully the answer is yes, cream cheese is certainly keto-friendly. In fact, it is loaded with dietary fats and is very low in carb. You would need to eat a whole lot of it in order to get kicked out of ketosis. For this reason, cream cheese is a staple in the keto community.
This is good news for me because I absolutely love cream cheese. In fact, almost all of my favorite keto dessert recipes are made with cream cheese. Not only does it tastes great but it also masks the negative effects of many keto sweeteners.
If you have tried some of the keto desserts online, you have likely come across some that taste minty or cool. This is due to the use of sugar alcohols and is known as the cooling effect. By adding liquids and fats you can greatly reduce this effect. That said, when I use cream cheese in my recipes I do not notice the cooling effect at all!
