Uses

How to use Depo-Provera Vial Contraceptives

Read the Patient Information Leaflet provided by your pharmacist before you start using this product and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

This medication is given by injection into a muscle (upper arm or buttock) as directed by your doctor, usually once every 3 months. To make sure you are not pregnant, the first injection is usually given during the first 5 days of your menstrual period. If you have just given birth or had a pregnancy loss or abortion after the first 3 months of pregnancy, talk with your doctor about the best time to start using this form of birth control.

If you are using this medication at home, learn all preparation and usage instructions from your health care professional. Before using, check this product visually for particles or discoloration. If either is present, do not use the liquid. Learn how to store and discard medical supplies safely.

It is very important that you use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. If more than 13 weeks pass between injections, you could become pregnant. Use a form of non-hormonal birth control (such as condoms, diaphragm, spermicide) to prevent pregnancy until you can get the next injection. Your doctor may direct you to first have a pregnancy test before your next injection.

Side Effects

Nausea, bloating, headache, changes in appetite, weight gain, tiredness, swelling, acne, hot flashes, breast tenderness, or irritation/pain at the injection site may occur. Vaginal bleeding between periods (spotting) or missed/irregular periods may occur, especially during the first few months of use. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Your periods may stop completely after you have been receiving this medication for about a year. If this occurs, your periods will normally return after you stop using this medication. If you miss a period and have missed an injection, or if more than 13 weeks pass between injections and you think you might be pregnant, contact your doctor for a pregnancy test.

Remember that this medication has been prescribed because your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.

Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: nausea/vomiting that doesn’t stop, mental/mood changes (such as new/worsening depression), changes in sexual interest/ability, swelling of the ankles/feet, bone pain, unusual changes in vaginal bleeding (such as continuous spotting, sudden heavy bleeding), severe stomach/abdominal/pelvic pain, unusual weakness/tiredness, dark urine, yellowing eyes/skin, seizure.

This medication may increase your risk of breast cancer. Tell your doctor right away if you have symptoms such as a lump in the breast, nipple discharge. Ask your doctor for more details.

This medication may rarely cause serious (sometimes fatal) problems from blood clots (such as deep vein thrombosis, heart attack, pulmonary embolism, stroke). Get medical help right away if you have: shortness of breath/rapid breathing, chest/jaw/left arm pain, unusual sweating, confusion, sudden dizziness/fainting, pain/swelling/warmth in the groin/calf, sudden/severe headaches, trouble speaking, weakness on one side of the body, sudden vision changes.

A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

This is not a complete list of possible side effects. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

In the US – Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088 or at www. fda.gov/medwatch.

In Canada – Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to Health Canada at 1-866-234-2345.

Interactions

Drug interactions may change how your medications work or increase your risk for serious side effects. This document does not contain all possible drug interactions. Keep a list of all the products you use (including prescription/nonprescription drugs and herbal products) and share it with your doctor and pharmacist. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicines without your doctor’s approval.

Some drugs may cause hormonal birth control to work less well by decreasing the amount of birth control hormones in your body. This effect can result in pregnancy. Examples include griseofulvin, modafinil, rifamycins (such as rifampin, rifabutin), ritonavir, St. John’s wort, drugs used to treat seizures (such as barbiturates, carbamazepine, felbamate, phenytoin, primidone, topiramate), HIV drugs (such as nelfinavir, nevirapine), among others.

Tell your doctor when you start any new drug, and discuss if you should use additional reliable birth control. Also tell your doctor if you have any new spotting or breakthrough bleeding, because these may be signs that your birth control is not working well.

This medication may interfere with certain laboratory tests (including certain hormone levels, blood tests for clotting factors, thyroid/liver function tests), possibly causing false test results. Make sure laboratory personnel and all your doctors know you are using this medication.

Can Birth Control Make You Tired? 11 Things to Consider

Hormonal birth control can come with several benefits. As well as preventing pregnancy, it can regulate periods and help combat acne.

But some users report a range of unwanted side effects. And fatigue is one of them.

So can the pill, patch, IUD, implant, or shot cause excessive feelings of tiredness?

Well, the answer isn’t as straightforward as you might think.

“Some hormonal birth control options have stated that fatigue is a possible side effect,” says Dr. Heather Irobunda, an OB-GYN based in New York, New York.

Unfortunately, she adds, it’s unclear how many users face this side effect or the level of fatigue they experience.

Some people can even experience the opposite: better sleep and therefore better energy levels.

Fatigue is listed as a potential side effect of birth control pills, vaginal rings, and the subdermal implant, says Irobunda.

“Side effects, including fatigue, are in part due to the hormones in contraception,” explains Dr. Idries Abdur-Rahman, a board certified OB-GYN in Chicago, Illinois.

So birth control “that is either nonhormonal or low in hormones” can be associated with less fatigue.

That means contraception with higher hormone doses is “more likely to cause side effects,” he says.

“Higher dose birth control pills and Depo-Provera (the 3-month shot) are the most likely culprits (of fatigue) because they are associated with higher blood hormone levels.

It could be because fatigue isn’t a common side effect.

“I can think of maybe a handful of patients who have reported it to me over my almost 20 years in practice,” states Idries.

Or it could be because hormonal contraceptives and their side effects are still under-researched.

This is especially true when it comes to the effects birth control can have on sleep and tiredness.

Research that does exist has produced conflicting results.

A recent survey of more than 2,000 women found that hormonal contraceptive users had more insomnia symptoms and increased levels of daytime sleepiness.

People using progestogen-only methods reported sleeping less in total compared with those on a combined type.

But a 2010 study found a lower percentage of hormonal contraceptive users woke up during the night.

Similarly, in 2013, researchers noted a link between hormonal birth control and better sleep efficiency.

Sleep efficiency is calculated by measuring the total amount of time spent asleep against the total time spent in bed. The higher the efficiency, the better.

According to Dr. Jamil Abdur-Rahman, chairman of obstetrics and gynecology at Vista Health System in Waukegan, Illinois, “Fatigue resulting from the use of birth control is typically temporary.”

(Fatigue that lasts longer than 3 months is likely caused by something else.)

Birth control-induced fatigue, he says, can also often be more pronounced in the mornings and come hand-in-hand with salt and sugar cravings.

This is sometimes referred to as adrenal fatigue: a form of fatigue some medical doctors don’t recognize.

As Irobunda states, “It is important to make sure that all causes of fatigue are looked into before attributing (yours) to hormonal birth control.”

There are several theories to explain how hormonal birth control causes fatigue.

One says tiredness could be a symptom of another condition caused by birth control: depression.

But the relationship between hormonal contraception and depression isn’t fully understood.

A large-scale 2016 study found that first depression diagnosis and first antidepressant use was associated with hormonal birth control.

Yet a review of studies examining hormonal contraception’s effects on mood, published in the same year, described research on the topic as “limited.”

Another theory, explains Irobunda, is that birth control pills “can decrease the amount of testosterone circulating in the blood” which can then lead to fatigue.

Idries highlights yet another theory: Fatigue could be caused by a person’s individual response to their contraception’s hormones.

“The basal ganglia is the part of the brain that is responsible for fatigue,” he says, and birth control hormones could affect this region in some users.

Then there’s the idea that nutrient deficiencies may be the root cause.

As functional medicine practitioner and registered dietitian Dr. Kelly Bay explains, hormonal birth control can diminish levels of folate, magnesium, and zinc along with vitamins C, B-1, B-2, B-3, B-6, and B-12.

“Many of these nutrients play a significant role in energy production,” says Bay, who practices in New York, New York.

But Irobunda points out, right now, “There is not enough data to reliably know the exact reason some (hormonal birth control users) experience fatigue.”

A number of conditions can cause fatigue.

Nutrient deficiencies that have nothing to do with your birth control can result in excessive tiredness. Iron deficiency anemia is a common example.

An underactive thyroid can also leave you feeling more tired than usual.

Other symptoms to look out for include weight gain, muscle aches and pains, and changes to your menstrual cycle.

Mental health issues are another potential cause of fatigue.

Depression and anxiety can deplete your energy levels and affect your sleeping pattern by making it more difficult to sleep or forcing you to oversleep.

The way you live your life can even have an impact on your tiredness levels.

If you’re excessively consuming alcohol or eating unhealthily, you may feel fatigued.

Too much or too little exercise can also have a damaging effect, along with high levels of stress.

Sometimes, a birth control side effect will go away by itself.

It may take a few weeks or even a few months “and then improve as your body gets used” to your method, Irobunda notes.

“While your body is adjusting, make sure that you are getting enough sleep, eating a balanced diet, and staying hydrated,” she adds.

Jamil advises taking supplements of vitamins B-5, B-6, B-12, and C, as well as magnesium.

Any time you start feeling different, you should track your symptoms and how they affect your day-to-day life.

When it comes to fatigue, book a doctor’s appointment if the tiredness persists.

Show them your symptom diary and be honest about your lifestyle and previous health history.

If you think your fatigue is related to birth control, tell your doctor.

They’ll take this into account and test for any other issues that could be causing you to feel tired.

This may involve discussions about your dietary and exercise habits, as well as blood tests to check for the likes of deficiencies.

Medication may be recommended for thyroid or mental health conditions, and nutritional supplements may be advised if you’re lacking in a particular area.

If you and your doctor are struggling to find the cause of your tiredness, “Consider switching to a different form of birth control to see if your fatigue improves,” Irobunda says.

Changing your contraceptive may help, and it may not.

Jamil recommends changing to a nonhormonal method, such as an IUD, or a form that contains zero or low levels of estrogen — but only if your fatigue has lasted for more than 3 months and no other medical cause has been identified.

Always consult with your doctor before making any birth control-related decision.

Whether you want to swap to a nonhormonal method or come off birth control entirely, you should always speak to your doctor.

The final decision is yours, but they can advise alternative methods that will work for your specific needs.

They will also tell you exactly how to stop your birth control.

You’ll want to be careful about stopping the pill and the like abruptly, as this can cause a disruption in your menstrual cycle and create bleeding issues. If you have an implant or IUD, it will need to removed by a professional.

Go to your doctor’s appointment armed with a list of questions. The following may help:

  • Am I likely to experience any side effects?
  • How quickly can I get pregnant?
  • What other forms of contraception are available to me?

Halting birth control can relieve some side effects, but it can also cause others.

Your mood, libido, and menstrual cycle may be affected.

And if you’d been prescribed contraception for a condition like acne, you may see a resurgence of symptoms once the hormones have left your body.

No two people have the same experience, and you may find positive effects instead of negative ones.

To manage this hormonal comedown, embark on a fulfilling lifestyle.

Ensure you’re eating a regular diet full of nutritious foods like vegetables — and less of the processed variety.

Try to keep your stress levels to a minimum, get enough sleep each night, and don’t forget to exercise.

But if you’re having a hard time coping or finding that side effects are lingering after 3 months, chat with your doctor.

Diagnosing the cause of your fatigue may take a while, says Irobunda.

And your doctor will likely examine all other potential causes before blaming your birth control.

But that doesn’t mean you have to stick to a contraceptive that isn’t working for you.

There are plenty of options to choose from. So if you’re noticing something isn’t quite right, don’t be afraid to ask about the alternatives.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City (Xbox 360, PS3)

Uncomfortable control, selective use of cover, paralyzed paralyzes in the main roles, constant lack of ammo. They forgot to put brains in the heads of enemies, but there was a bust with “health”. Competitive multiplayer tries to improve the situation with the original Survivor mode, but the problems described above only stick out in it. In general, pass by, do not linger. Another unsuccessful, inept project parasitizing on a big name.

Resident Evil has been scaring, surprising and delighting its loyal fans for 16 years. This year for “Resident Evil” promises to be special. Applause has already died down to the portable version of Revelations, the announcement of a full-fledged sixth part has recently taken place. So that the expectation of one of the main projects of the year was not so painful, the publisher decided to stir up public interest and rolled out Operation Raccoon City. The Slant Six studio project is trying to compete with another popular zombie killer – Left 4 Dead. However, as it turns out, for success it is not enough to just make a cooperative passage for four.

The plot of the game brings back to life the dramatic events of September 1998. The “T-Virus” has been leaked from the Umbrella Corporation’s lab. As a result, most of the inhabitants of the metropolis of Raccoon City turned into the living dead and began to devour the remaining people. Terrible monsters, grown in top-secret laboratories, also crept out into the wild. A real apocalypse reigned on the streets.

Gameplay demo

No one was supposed to know about the true causes of the disaster. In order to prevent information leakage, and at the same time deal with some other cases, a Wolfpack special forces unit (Wolf Pack) is sent to the epicenter of the tragedy. These elite mercenaries report only to the top management of the corporation and are ready to carry out any order.

There is no associated narrative in the game. The detachment either chases after valuable samples of viruses, or destroys evidence, or cuts off electricity. Sometimes strange characters are wedged into what is happening, but their vague hints do not receive further development. The main characters are faceless commandos. They do not ask unnecessary questions, blindly follow from one mission to another, do not show character. For this reason, even morally difficult situations do not cause any emotions.

But the writers decided to play on the feelings of loyal fans. The game takes place in parallel with the events of the second and third parts of Resident Evil. On the screen, you can again see the giant Nemesis with a bazooka at the ready, the mutated Dr. Birkin and other cult monsters. The colonels get an amazing chance to go back in time, look at the situation from a different angle and exclaim in a fit of nostalgia: “Yes, this is the very moment with Leon and Ada!” .

But people who are not familiar with the original source are unlikely to appreciate the efforts. For them, storytelling will remain a loosely coupled set of operations.

The cleaning team includes six different heroes, but only four are sent on a mission. One can become invisible, the other relies on brute force and grenades, the third has enhanced vision and not a single trifle escapes him. In total, each fighter has several passive and active skills, machine guns, pistols, rifles and exotic guns. For experience earned during a showdown in a virtual store, it is allowed to acquire new skills, improve old ones, or expand the available arsenal.

Unfortunately, it is worth being on the battlefield, and you understand that the positive aspects of the project end in a profitable universe. The developers felt that there were few monsters from the Umbrella laboratory, and they diluted the adventure with skirmishes with soldiers from other special services. In vain.

The system of war for shelters works anyhow. The hero himself decides what object he can hide behind and what not. Often the protagonist will try to run through a box or car instead of crouching. Rolls, dashes and other useful maneuvers “wolves” are not trained. Do you want to change position? Be kind enough to stand under the bullets, run to the right place and hide again (or not hide, as you’re lucky).

Soldiers who oppose mercenaries are superior in endurance to other monsters. They can’t get shot in the head either. Although it is necessary to compensate for the lack of a brain with something other than accuracy. Enemies often don’t move at all, just stand still and catch bullets. They can calmly wait for death, cluster in a corner, or just run somewhere, forgetting about shooting.

But there are zombies here! It can’t be spoiled! Yes? After all, right? … Do not rush to underestimate the developers, these can do everything. Classic slow ghouls, for obvious reasons, are not able to provide decent resistance. They are present solely for the sake of “meat”. But during skirmishes with the fleet-footed infected, strange restrictions come to the fore. Our heroes are clumsy, they do not know how to jump and somersault. The best cadres of the corporation can only run clumsily and flop on their stomachs with a run. Moreover, one button is responsible for the fall and for the selection of valuable items from the ground. And often, instead of picking up a first-aid kit, a warrior with a running start covers it with his body.

It was necessary to try, but the authors ruined the shooting process to the heap! The authors did not exchange for animation of hits. The weapon, with rare exceptions, resembles children’s rattles, the sounds of shots are muffled. The grenade launcher was especially unlucky, which was turned into some kind of firecracker. No pleasure in the process.

Zombies are in no hurry to go to the next world, there are always not enough cartridges. Bosses do seem to be immortal. They withstand a hundred or two or three hits and continue to literally tear the squad to pieces. The automaton chosen at first soon becomes useless, you have to pick up captured weapons.

Not always the total genocide of all living (and non-living) is the only pass to continue the operation. Under certain conditions, it is enough to run to the specified point, activate the terminal or open the door. It seems to be nonsense. But when continuous shooting is tiring, such moments come in handy.

Alas, seconds of enlightenment are quickly replaced by inadequate situations. For example, the heroes are locked in a tiny patch and forced to fight a giant monster. There is no room for maneuver, the creature knocks down and does not allow to rise. The battle turns into uncontrollable chaos. It remains only to rely on luck, and not on well-coordinated interactions.

This is how the seven missions of the story campaign go. Without enthusiasm, in continuous attempts to cope with multiple shortcomings. After the completion of the seven-hour run, there is no longer the slightest desire to return to the streets of the metropolis.

Brave players who went to Raccoon City without the support of their comrades are also forced to put up with dumb-headed computer partners. The effectiveness of the actions of bots tends to zero. But they love to climb forward and obscure the screen with their body, while the enemies often do not pay any attention to them and concentrate their hatred exclusively on your person. And if your hero has been infected and is slowly turning into a zombie, you can immediately load the checkpoint. Companions are not trained to heal.

The graphics are frankly unpretentious, the animation is twitchy and implausible. But most of all, the impression of the visual component is spoiled by the lack of anti-aliasing, all objects are in “ladders”. Locations are typical laboratories, municipal buildings, dilapidated streets and other railway depots. In addition, the authors were carried away by dark rooms, but did not bother to build an intelligent lighting system. Attempts to catch up with fear through the darkness and the lack of flashlights in the characters in a cooperative action movie look at least inappropriate.

In addition to cooperative multiplayer, there is also a competitive one. There are only four modes, and it is unlikely that at least one of them deserves attention due to the wooden shooting mechanics.

In a series of traditional team confrontations and running after “flags” (G-virus samples), only one mode is original – Survivor. In it, players, divided into two teams, must fight off monsters, shoot at each other and wait for the rescue helicopter to arrive. The peculiarity lies in the fact that there are not enough seats in the helicopter for everyone, and the closer the final, the greater the tension.

Instead of making a normal third-person shooter, or at least blindly copying the ideas of Left 4 Dead, the developers began to clumsily fence the garden. Uncomfortable control, selective use of shelters, braked paralytics in the main roles, constant lack of ammo. They forgot to put brains in the heads of enemies, but there was a bust with “health”. Competitive multiplayer tries to improve the situation with the original Survivor mode, but the problems described above only stick out there.

In general, pass by, do not linger. Another unsuccessful, inept project parasitizing on a big name.

Pro:

  • The ability to look at some of the events of Resident Evil 2 and 3 from a different angle
  • Six different heroes, each with their own set of skills
  • Emotional multiplayer mode Survivor

Contra:

  • For those who are not familiar with the second and third parts of the series, the plot is of no value
  • Poorly implemented cover war system
  • Too fat enemies (especially bosses) and not enough ammo
  • Hero agility issues make fighting monsters a pain
  • A series of disgustingly made moments
  • Dumb Bots Companions and Enemies
  • Mediocre graphics
  • Terrible sound

How Albina went to the conference. Picture report.

A little late, but still I will share my impressions of the trip to the smartlab confu 🙂

But first, thanks to all the reasonable people who responded to my previous post. And special thanks to Lada and her wonderful colleagues, who not only met and drove, but also made the most pleasant company on the trip 🙂

It was a bit nerve-wracking to be in the heart of the trading community, especially since I’m more than just a beginner. However, I was afraid in vain. The people are extremely nice and pleasant 🙂  It was quite easy to approach anyone and strike up a conversation. What I did 🙂

For example, before the conference, during the morning tea-drinking, I approached my dear friend and started talking. As a result, it turned out that it was Vladimir Krekoten himself. O_o Talking to him turned out to be insanely interesting and comfortable. True, it was not possible to completely overcome the psychological barrier with addressing the elders to “you” in one evening) Well, everything is ahead!

During the lunch break, I hung out a bit with the girls, who were many times less than men at the conference 😀

Vasily Oleinik also turned out to be an extremely pleasant and cheerful comrade. Firstly, he told me about deflation 🙂 And also about inflation and risks. It was interesting and easy to communicate with him, as if I had known him for 10 years already.

In short, something, but there was more than communication at the conference) Eh, I would love to stay to hang out further …. But I was in a hurry to get on the train.

About the conference

There were many topics, I didn’t understand what was happening in all of them 😀

From the most memorable:

> it’s good))

> Larisa Morozova — a bright, smart, pleasant woman! I listened to her story with pleasure and interest. Special thanks to Larisa for posting a summary of her report with pictures on smartlab! A very interesting strategy for choosing companies that are expected to increase dividends.

> trader tatarin told us that we should stick to a clear strategy and not rush anywhere. And do everything manually, and not through a trading robot, otherwise you can easily lose the “feel” of the market. What surprised me the most in Ilnur’s speech was that he recommends not to overestimate expectations. We are so used to aiming higher in order to achieve something impressive … and here we are told to expect less in order to enjoy any success, even a small one. Interesting point of view!

> trader Maxim ‘s speech was remembered for his statement that money should not cause psychological excitement. It is not necessary to see things behind them: it is worth remaining impartial.

> Alexey Kalenkovich had an impressive presentation of the service for options traders. I don’t understand options, but I still looked with curiosity: it’s very interesting to tell) By the time the service is released, I hope to begin to navigate this.

About nature and weather

Taking into account the fact that I haven’t really been anywhere for over 9000 years, even in the suburbs of St. Petersburg, for me a trip to Moscow, and even to the suburbs, and even to the reservoir, became a real adventure.

Unfortunately, I could admire Moscow only from the window of a car/bus. But I enjoyed the most beautiful view of the reservoir and yachts with might and main.

The weather was lovely! I left +9 and drizzling rain and got into the fabulous +25 (which was transferred much easier than the St. Petersburg counterpart. In our country, at +23, I’m already lying around like a corpse). By the way, having arrived in St. Petersburg on Sunday morning, I was met with frosty +7 and steam from my mouth)

Sun, sea, wonderful people – what more could you want?)

About food 😀

What else can I write? It was delicious. Very much)

I don’t know why people stood in line a la “the first McDuck”, if it was possible to run along the side with a plate and grab some tasty treats. Which I did 🙂

Summing up!

Thank you, Timothy, for such a wonderful spiritual event! If I get a chance, I will definitely come again.
