How to nurse a hangover: The request could not be satisfied

How to Nurse Your Hangover (and Head One Off)

Your head feels like it’s inside a bass drum, your mouth is cottony and the contents of your stomach might not stay put.

Maybe you partied hard and had a little too much to drink — or maybe a lot too much — so you turn to the internet to search for cures to a hangover.

To spare you the bleary morning-after research, here’s what you should know before you drink.

How much alcohol will trigger a hangover?

If you have to ask, count yourself lucky not to have experienced one.

Not surprisingly, the more alcohol you consume, the better your chances of getting a hangover. Binge drinking of four or more drinks for women and five or more drinks for men during any one episode increases the likelihood of a hangover, Laura J. Veach, an associate professor of general surgery at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., said in an email.

What causes a hangover?

Dr. Veach said a hangover occurs when the concentration of alcohol in one’s system is decreasing. It is at its worst when all the alcohol has been eliminated.

“Addiction specialists have often noted that a hangover is technically a form of alcohol withdrawal at its most benign,” she said.

The scientific community does not completely understand what causes hangovers, Dr. Preston R. Miller, a surgeon at Wake Forest, said in an email. Alcohol is a diuretic that causes dehydration and irritation of the gastrointestinal tract, leading to nausea and dilation of blood vessels, which can cause the headaches associated with hangovers.

Are there cures?

Unless you are going to abstain or drink in moderation, the answer is no, experts said. Some commercial products promote themselves as surefire remedies but Dr. Robert Glatter, an emergency physician at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, said in an interview: “The bottom line: When you get the hangover, there is nothing clinically proven to make it go away. There is no magic pill.”

A detailed survey of medical literature and research in 2005 concluded, “No compelling evidence exists to suggest that any conventional or complementary intervention is effective for preventing or treating alcohol hangover.

Among the commercial products promoted as cures: IV drips with a blend of saline solution and electrolyte replacement fluid, patches that are said to replenish the vitamins and acids lost when consuming alcohol, and a “natural dietary supplement,” only one dose of which is required to “prevent” a hangover, its manufacturer says.

Dr. Miller said most cures treat the symptoms, such as a headache or dehydration, “but the only way to truly get over a hangover is time.”

Dr. Marc I. Leavey, a primary care physician in Lutherville, Md., who writes a blog, “String of Medical Pearls,” said in an email that the products were “gimmicks” that either relied on a placebo effect or were no more effective than slowly sipping ice chips or an electrolyte sports drink.

“Alcohol consumption is a billion-dollar market,” he wrote. “It would seem logical that attempts to cash in on the inevitable aftermath would spawn any number of products claiming to help, despite the lack of any foundation for those claims.

Does drinking clearer liquors help?

Dr. Glatter recommended staying away from dark-colored liquors such as bourbon and whiskey. They contain more congeners, complex organic molecules that give the liquors their color and taste but also generate more intense hangovers. Better to drink clearer liquors, such as vodka and gin, which have fewer congeners, he said.

How can I ease the intensity of a hangover?

Once the damage is done, Dr. Reed Caldwell, an assistant professor of emergency medicine at the Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center, recommended hydrating with water, electrolyte drinks or coconut water, getting proper nutrition and exercise and taking a cool shower. He added that caffeine may help relieve symptoms from poor sleep but it will not reverse the effects of alcohol or a hangover.

Before you start drinking, eat some food (it slows the absorption of alcohol) and have something nonalcoholic between drinks. Before bed, take a nonsteroidal pain reliever and drink water, Dr. Glatter said.

Hangover cures remain a hotbed of research, he said, adding: “I think we’re going to get there. We’re not there yet.”

5 ways to nurse a hangover

JOHANNESBURG – Pounding head. Dry mouth. Nausea. Self-pity. This is how 2018 has started for many who partied the new year in.

Here are some non-scientifically-proven ways to cope:

5. Hair of the dog

Drinking still more alcohol may, at best, delay the inevitable. The National Health Service in England advises against it, saying that after a heavy-drinking session you should give your body a break from booze for at least 48 hours.

Can You Breastfeed If You’re Hungover? Experts Explain

If you’re a breastfeeding parent, then you’re likely already aware that breastfeeding your baby comes with its own set of guidelines to follow to ensure the safest and healthiest experience possible. One of the most well-known “rules” of breastfeeding is that alcohol consumption is discouraged. You probably already know that you shouldn’t drink heavily while nursing, but what about after drinking? At some point, many mothers will wonder if you can breastfeed while hungover, and it’s definitely a valid question.

Most doctors agree that the best thing for any nursing mother to do is to avoid beer, liquor, and wine if they know they’ll be putting the baby on their breast later on. According to official guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), avoiding alcohol is the safest option. The CDC notes that while moderate alcohol consumption (up to one drink per day) is not known to be harmful to infants, exposure to more than that through breast milk could be damaging to an infant’s development, growth, and sleep.

Should You Avoid Drinking Altogether When Breastfeeding?

This is obviously important guidance, but all of that being said, you don’t need to swear off all alcohol for the next few months (or even years) while you breastfeed. Romper spoke about this with Dr. Jessica Madden, board-certified pediatrician and neonatologist, International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and medical director at Aeroflow Breastpumps. “It is never safe to drink alcohol while pregnant, but it is safe to have an occasional alcoholic drink while breastfeeding,” Dr. Madden says. “One alcoholic drink is defined as a 12 oz. of beer, 5 oz. of wine, or 1.5 oz of distilled spirits. We know that there is no risk of harm to breastfeeding babies if their moms drink one-two alcoholic drinks per week.”

If you’re drinking more than that, many moms choose to “pump and dump,” which essentially means that they pump breast milk after drinking, then toss it instead of giving it to their little one. In the few hours after drinking, these moms will typically give their child milk they pumped before drinking, or they’ll supplement with formula, but this only needs to be done if you yourself are still feeling the effects of alcohol. “In general, if you are sober enough to drive, you are sober enough to breastfeed. Less than 2% of the alcohol consumed by the mother reaches her blood and milk,” noted the breastfeeding website KellyMom. Alcohol does not stay in your breast milk, just like it doesn’t stay in your bloodstream.

Should You Breastfeed When You’re Hungover?

OK, so it’s fine to get your drink on (to an extent) while nursing. But how long do you really need to wait before you can allow your baby back on your breast? Dr. Madden notes that it’s recommended for moms to wait at least two hours after each alcoholic beverage to breastfeed.

If it’s been more than two hours later and you’re feeling extremely hungover, you might be weary about breastfeeding. “In most cases, hangovers do not occur unless one has been drinking heavily,” Dr. Madden points out. “So, you will need to make sure that enough time has elapsed between your last alcoholic drink and breastfeeding. A rule of thumb is that you should wait to breastfeed for at least two hours per drink consumed, i.e. wait two hours to breastfeed after one drink, four hours to breastfeed after two drinks, and so on.”

Basically, if you know you’re going to be drinking a lot, keep track of how many drinks you have and what time you have them, and then do the math from there. If you had, say, three drinks, and it’s been eight hours since your last drink, you’re probably in the clear to breastfeed — even if you do feel less than great. If you still feel tipsy or intoxicated, though, skip the breastfeeding.

There are other things to take into consideration when breastfeeding while hangover. Dr. Madden says that if you choose to nurse while you’re feeling hungover, “you should take special care to hydrate yourself, make sure not to bedshare with your baby — the fatigue associated with being hungover puts one at risk of rolling onto their baby while sleeping — and to also have someone else watch your baby so you can rest and recover.”

Can Babies Consume Alcohol Through Breast Milk?

There’s no shame in a breastfeeding mom having a few drinks, but following these guidelines and waiting things out is really important. “If mothers breastfeed too soon after drinking, the alcohol can pass from mother to baby in milk,” Dr. Madden says. “This can cause babies to become drowsy, difficult to rouse, and to feed poorly.”

The CDC also notes that high levels of alcohol consumption can actually interfere with letdown. Excessive drinking over time can lead to a decreased milk production, and may cut your breastfeeding journey short. It can also affect the baby’s sleep patterns and early development.

Tips For Safely Drinking While Breastfeeding

While you should avoid getting very intoxicated any time you want when you’re a breastfeeding mom, you can still feel free to enjoy yourself. Keep these tips in mind:

  • Have 1 to 2 alcoholic drinks per week. Dr. Madden recommends trying to stick with this. Not only will it barely affect your breastfeeding schedule, but it will also keep you feeling your best.
  • Track your drinks if needed. If you’re going out and you know you’re going to have more than one drink, be careful about noting the times of each drink and how much alcohol you’re consuming.
  • Do not breastfeed or pump if you still feel intoxicated. “This means that you probably still have alcohol in your system that will pass into your milk,” Dr. Madden says. If you’re in physical pain, pump to relieve the discomfort and then toss that milk (as much as that hurts to do).
  • Don’t use pumping and dumping as a way to nurse faster. “Pumping and dumping does not speed up the time it takes for your body to metabolize alcohol,” Dr. Madden says. “So it’s not safe to plan to feed your baby after pumping and dumping if not enough time has passed between drinking and breastfeeding.” Again, only pump and dump to relieve physical discomfort.

Have a glass of wine once or twice a week if needed, go out and have fun sometimes — just be responsible at the end of the day, and you and your baby should be just fine!

How to cure a hangover: what one man found after a 10-year quest | Books

Along with a distant relative prattling on about their objectionable politics, there is one other dread at this time of year: the hangover.

Despite millennia of drinking, there is no consensus on a cure for excessive drinking. But a cure is exactly what Shaughnessy Bishop-Stall set out to find in his new book Hungover.

Drawing on a decade of research, and years more of informal research, Bishop-Stall’s quest took him around the world: drink, suffer, repeat. As he points out in the book, and as anyone who has scoured the internet for a solution to their booze-fuelled hedonism can attest, there has been little scientific research into the hangover remedy.

Bishop-Stall told the Guardian: “The most obvious reason is just a sort of moralistic one. Doctors who are pressed for time say: ‘Why am I going to waste my time on this? All you have to do is not drink.”

“And it’s kind of a hard logic to argue against. [But] at the same time it’s probably the most common malady. The economy suffers, people’s daily lives are affected. So why can’t we put a little bit of effort into figuring this out?”

Bishop-Stall threw himself enthusiastically into his research. He took part in an “extreme Las Vegas” trip – from going up in a fighter plane and piloting a fighter jet, where the G-force made him feel like he was” sweating backwards”, to leaping off the 855ft Stratosphere.

He strove to do all these things, necessarily, with a booming hangover. He achieved it via Martinis and red wine, leading him to wake up in an unfamiliar hotel room and discover in his pockets “a folding corkscrew [and] a small doorknob”.

Bishop-Stall found the Stratosphere leap, and its corresponding blast of adrenaline, particularly effective. But for those who don’t have a tall building and bungee rope to hand, there is some science behind the more traditional cures.

“One of the things that I found most interesting,” Bishop-Stall writes in the book, “was commonalities through time.

“Many of the things that the ancients used, whether pickled eggs or boiled cabbage or charcoal, they all have, we now realize, scientific footing. They’re the precursors to the things we try out to this day.”

Even the oft-suggested hair of the dog, a metaphor which, according to Bishop-Stall, dates back to Ancient Greece in 400 BCE and Antiphanes, has some merit.

“Take the hair, it is well written,
Of the dog by which you’re bitten,
Work off one wine by his brother,
One labor with another.”

Antiphanes’ suggestion extended beyond alcohol, according to Bishop-Stall – to “all forms of medical treatment” – but there is science behind it, around ethanol, which is found in alcoholic drinks and methanol, and is used in things like windscreen wiper fluid or fuel, but, Bishop-Stall writes, also finds its way into alcoholic drinks.

It might provide some solace to anyone currently suffering from a heavy night that hangovers are far from a modern problem. In fact, as Bishop-Stall points out, people have been suffering for thousands of years, from Noah, who got sozzled on wine and on waking blamed his son, to the Saxons, who “stayed up drinking before the Battle of Hastings and therefore lost England to the more disciplined Normans”.

After his 10-year quest, Bishop-Stall has settled on a cure that might have saved Noah’s son, and kept England under Saxon rule.

“It really deals with deactivating the most horrendous aspects of hangover. Nausea, headache, body pain – those large things that keep you down to your bed or couch or even sometimes put you into a doctors office. You won’t have any of those.”

His cure is relatively simple, or at least relatively simple to acquire – all the ingredients are available in pharmacies, or online.

To prevent the hangover, Bishop-Stall will quaff – after drinking but before sleep – milk thistle, for the liver; the amino acid and immune system aid N-acetylcysteine; vitamins B1, B6 and B12, which boost metabolism; and that famous gift to Jesus, frankincense – an anti-inflammatory.

So no more sickness, no more pain. No more bothering doctors. But one thing Bishop-Stall still hasn’t managed to crack is “the tiredness, lethargy and grouchiness” that has more to do with a lack of deep sleep than the booze itself.

Bishop-Stall says he is still working on a way to combat those symptoms, but is yet to find “a safe way that I would actually recommend to others”. The quest continues.

How to Treat a Hangover: Hangover 101

How to Treat a Hangover: Hangover 101

When you go out on the town, you want to have a good time. But drinking too much can make your memories fuzzy, and the only thing you’ll remember about your night out is your morning after. A hangover can knock you out flat, with sluggishness, nausea, a pounding headache, or several other symptoms.

It’s important to find speedy relief for your hangover to feel better and get back to your normal routine. Learning how to get rid of a hangover is helpful information to have so you’re not stuck in bed all day suffering until the effects wear off.

Hangover Symptoms and Causes

You probably know that too much alcohol is the culprit behind hangovers. But how much is too much? Well, that depends on several factors, such as your body composition, gender, and medication usage, among others. Alcohol’s effect is different for everyone. Too many drinks for one person may not pose a problem for someone else.

But why does alcohol have such a punishing effect on the body? There are several reasons:

Drinking dehydrates the body.

Alcohol acts as a diuretic, which makes you urinate more frequently. You’ll become dehydrated if your body loses too much fluid without replenishing it. Dehydration causes many of the same symptoms as a hangover, such as nausea, head and muscle pain, and fatigue. This diuretic effect is thought to be stronger with beverages that are higher in alcohol content, so you may get dehydrated more quickly if you’re drinking hard liquor compared to a light beer.

Alcohol affects your cardiovascular system.

Overconsumption raises your blood pressure, and that can be problematic if you already have high blood pressure. Alcohol also dilates your blood vessels, so more blood is pumping through them, and that can cause a hangover’s splitting headache.

Your stomach can’t handle too much alcohol.

Drinking too much in a short period of time triggers an elevated production of stomach acid. The lining of your stomach gets irritated, and those two factors make you nauseous.

Alcohol impairs brain function.

Alcohol acts as a sedative. After an initial burst of exuberance or euphoria, alcohol will make you drowsy, and you may not be able to think clearly. However, this sedation doesn’t last long. Hours later, you may find yourself hyperalert, the result of an alcohol-induced increase of the stress hormone epinephrine. This can interrupt sleep and make you feel fatigued and foggy. Alcohol can also activate your immune system, leading to inflammation that causes cognitive issues such as memory loss or lack of focus.

Your blood sugar levels drop.

Alcohol prevents your liver from stabilizing blood sugar levels. Too much alcohol results in low levels, and that’s exacerbated if you’re not eating enough while you’re drinking. You’ll be at risk for mood swings, fatigue, or lightheadedness.

Be Alert for Hangover Symptoms

You may experience any combination of the following symptoms after drinking too much alcohol:

  • Intense headache
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Muscle aches and pains
  • Fatigue
  • Thirst
  • Dizziness or weakness
  • Light and noise sensitivity
  • Irritability, anxiety, or other mood-related problems
  • Racing heartbeat

Serious symptoms that require immediate medical attention include:

  • Low body temperature
  • Slow or irregular breathing
  • Unconsciousness
  • Seizures
  • Skin that appears bluish or too pale

Got Symptoms? Here’s How to Treat a Hangover

Most people have a hangover “treat” that’s not based on science as much as myth, like eating a greasy meal in the morning or even drinking more alcohol. Here are some more effective ways to find hangover relief.

Replenish your body’s missing fluids and nutrients.

Water or sports drinks help quench thirst and alleviate dehydration. You can find more potent rehydration with an IV designed to help with hangover recovery. A Myers’ Cocktail, for instance, replaces vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes the body needs to re-energize and ease hangover symptoms.

Take a pain reliever.

Soothe your aching body with over-the-counter medication. The best choices are ibuprofen, aspirin, and naproxen. (Avoid acetaminophen, which can cause issues with your liver when you’ve been drinking.)

Eat easy-on-the-stomach food.

You’ll want to raise those low blood sugar levels to ease your physical and emotional symptoms related to hangovers. Focus on bland foods that won’t upset a nauseous stomach, such as applesauce, toast, or a banana. Ginger tea or hard candies can also help food go down easier by settling your stomach.

Get some rest.

Your body needs a rest after a night of overdoing it. Give yourself time to sleep after getting an IV, eating, or taking pain medication. You can wake up feeling refreshed and recharged.

Hangover Prevention

The best treatment for a hangover is not to have a hangover. Keep these strategies in mind before you go out:

Make a plan.

Set a goal to consume alcohol in moderation: That’s one drink a day for women and two for men, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It also helps to choose beverages with lower alcohol content. And keep an eye on your consumption of dark-colored drinks—they contain congeners, substances that raise your hangover risk.

Drink plenty of water.

Limiting alcohol doesn’t mean you can’t drink with your friends. Stay hydrated with water throughout the night. You can even make it fancy by asking the bartender for soda water with a twist of lime or lemon.

Don’t forget to eat.

Keep blood sugar levels elevated with some bar snacks or apps to graze on throughout the night.

Planning a ‘Drinksgiving’? Your Genes May Drive Your Hangover

Nov. 11, 2021 — Blackout Wednesday, the unfortunate nickname for Thanksgiving eve, is the busiest bar night of the year. With college students home for the holidays and distant friends and family coming together for a long weekend, the appeal of socializing sometimes overpowers the nightmares of a hangover, especially when you sleep it off with midday turkey-induced naps.

But when the consequences set in, many curse themselves and the splitting headaches they acquired. Well, there is a reason why you experience hangovers, and it’s not far from science and genetics.

In fact, “about 50% of the differences between people and how they get hangovers is driven by genetics,” says Puya Yazdi, MD, chief science officer of SelfDecode, a company that uses DNA and lab tests to offer personalized health care recommendations.

The Science and Genetics Behind Hangovers

“Hangovers are more complex than you may think. Genetics can have an impact on how you experience a hangover, and so can many other factors,” says Serena Poon, a certified nutritionist and reiki master in Los Angeles.

Thanks to these variations in genes, some people just deal with alcohol better and have less severe hangovers than others.

In fact, “a genetic variation that affects the way alcohol is metabolized may make some people have less severe hangovers than others,” says Grace Yoon, an herbalist in New York City and South Korea.

Yoon, founder of Qi Alchemy, an herb and Eastern medicine marketplace, says, “drinking on an empty stomach, mixing alcohol with other drugs, and not sleeping well after drinking” could also increase your chances of getting a horrible hangover.

There are a few genes that are responsible for how people experience hangovers: CYP2E1, ADh2B, and ALDh3.

The CYP2E1 gene codes for the enzyme that breaks down alcohol compounds. When there is a slight change in its structure, people clear alcohol out of their systems faster.

Variants in the ADh2B gene make the enzyme work faster. Generally this gene encodes part of the ADH enzyme, which breaks down alcohol in the liver.

ALDh3 normally encodes part of the ALDH enzyme, which helps clear things out of your system. Variants make the enzyme less effective, causing toxins to remain in your system longer.

Interestingly, some people are allergic to alcohol because they don’t have the genes to digest it.

“Some Asians have genetic variants that impairs their ability to break down alcohol. Sometimes they display extreme reactions like flushing, vomiting, and an exhilarated heartbeat, just after a few drinks,” Yazdi says.

Besides these changes in genes, your inflammatory response can affect your hangover. “The more you drink alcohol, the more severe these inflammatory responses are and the worse your hangover symptoms,” he says.

The Darker the Drink, the Worse the Hangover

“Science figured out that this old wives’ tale, ‘the darker the drink, the worse the hangover,’ turned out to be true,” says Yazdi.

“These darker drinks contain a substance called congeners, which gives alcohol its flavor. This is why people say light drinks like vodka and gin are flavourless while brandy and whisky have more flavor.”

“Darker liquors, such as rum and whiskey, contain more congeners than lighter liquors. When your body metabolizes these congeners, the process can create toxic substances that can increase the severity of your hangover,” says Poon.

Some examples of these congeners include “methanol and tannins, which are chemicals from the fermentation process that gives alcoholic drinks their distinctive flavor. These darker drinks contain higher concentrations of congeners, which will definitely cause more severe hangovers,” says Yoon.

What Your Age Has to Do With Hangovers

“Although we all feel as we get older, hangovers get worse, scientifically, it may not be true,” says Yazdi. “What happens is your tolerance for alcohol may have reduced because you don’t consume alcohol as much as you did when you were much younger.”

Basically, you have more energy and stamina when you’re younger than when you get older, which also includes the vibe to take alcohol.

Also, Yoon points out, “your liver may become slower to metabolize alcohol as you age, prolonging the effects of a hangover.”

However, a study that Poon quotes says that as you get older, your pain sensitivity decreases, hence you may not feel the effects of hangovers compared to your younger self.

Home Remedies and How to Avoid Hangovers

“The best way to avoid a hangover is to moderate alcohol consumption and hydrate as much as possible while you’re drinking. Avoid sugary drinks as they can disrupt your blood sugar and may decrease the amount of sleep you get,” says Poon.

“Experts usually recommend switching to water 3 to 4 hours before going to bed to allow for restful sleep. Your body heals while you sleep, and it can use extra rest while it is working to process and eliminate alcohol from your system.”

Yoon advises us to use red ginseng to reduce inflammation when you drink alcohol.

“Red ginseng has beneficial antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties,” she says. “In Korea, red ginseng has been used as a traditional medicinal plant for reducing inflammation, which helps with hangovers.”

Alcohol dehydrates your body and can cause low blood sugar levels.

Yoon says that “red ginseng extract in particular has short-term effects on ethanol metabolism and helps to reduce blood ethanol concentration, inhibiting inflammation and increasing antioxidant capacity in cells. It also helps improve blood sugar levels.”

In cases where you don’t want to drink alcohol at all, Yoon advises people try an alternative fermented tea drink called kombucha, which has very low alcohol content and beneficial probiotics.

How to remove a hangover quickly and heal

One of the phrases that characterize the state of a hangover is “if it’s very bad in the morning, then yesterday it was very good”.

Hangover syndrome is a collection of characteristic and natural symptoms caused by alcohol consumption. The reason for this condition lies in the use of a large number of alcoholic beverages, alcohol intoxication after that and a violation of the acid-base balance of the body.

Hangover (alcohol withdrawal syndrome) occurs and develops in the second stage of alcoholism and is present in the third stage. This phenomenon is manifested in the fact that alcohol is included by the body in a constant metabolism and at the end of the binge and the cessation of alcohol consumption, a person develops a withdrawal syndrome, in another way withdrawal symptoms or a hangover. The hangover is especially hard after a long binge.

Hangover symptoms

The main possible signs of such a phenomenon are headaches, cold sweats, a bad state of the body, a feeling of a strong heartbeat, tremors (tremors) of the hands, disturbances in the rhythm of the heart, increased blood pressure, anxiety and irritability, as well as irascibility, sleep disturbances occur. In addition, there is an exacerbation of all chronic diseases. Withdrawal syndrome is a serious condition for the body, which without treatment can end in dire consequences for the patient’s body. Quite often, with such exacerbations, psychiatric complications occur in the form of delirium tremens and other mental illnesses.

When ingested, ethanol (alcohol) is oxidized into acetaldehyde in the human liver. This is done by an enzyme called alcohol dehydrogenase.

Acetaldehyde is one of the most toxic constituents formed when ethanol is processed in the body. The faster it is processed into other substances, the faster it will become easier for you, since it is acetaldehyde that brings the most unpleasant sensations during the processing of alcohol in our body. That is why, when a patient is detoxified from excess alcohol decomposition products, then, first of all, we are talking about the removal of acetaldehyde from the patient’s body. Finding a large amount of this substance in the body threatens the patient’s health.

Then, in our body, and in particular in the liver, acetaldehyde is converted into acetic acid, which is quite safe for the body. This processing takes place using the enzyme acetaldehyde dehydrogenase. When the body cannot cope with the processing of acetaldehyde into acetic acid, then we will just see all the signs of a hangover.

Another reason for a hangover is acidosis – the acid-base balance shifts towards acid and the alcohol at the outlet turns into acidic compounds, which is why it is often very nauseous when drinking too much alcohol.

The body is a very “smart” design. When toxic substances appear inside the body, the body tries to get rid of them by all available methods. This can be the phenomenon of diarrhea and vomiting. In case of alcohol poisoning, profuse sweating is also observed, thereby through sweat the human system tries to remove substances poisoning the body, and shortness of breath, because excess alcohol and its decay products are also excreted with breathing.

With a hangover, magnesium deficiency occurs, which leads to a violation of the circulatory system. It is from here, in particular, that the legs of a hangover “hammer”, chills, arrhythmias, shaking hands and increased nervousness can “grow”.

Therefore, it should be recognized that with a hangover syndrome and with poisoning from the decomposition products of alcohol, there is a lack of vital substances in the body, which lead to severe sensations after excessive alcoholic libation.

And only professional drug treatment can determine which substances are currently insufficient in the body, quickly add them and bring the state of health to a satisfactory state.

Alcohol withdrawal syndrome needs treatment

Withdrawal from alcoholism develops somewhere in 6-8 hours after the last drinking. It is a shock to the body and inflicts tremendous damage on it.

A hangover must be treated, as they say, “right here and now,” as it poses a direct threat not only to the patient’s health, but also to his life. How can you cure a hangover?

A hangover must be treated, as they say, “right here and now,” as it poses a direct threat not only to the patient’s health, but also to his life. How can you cure a hangover?

Many people have a question. If alcohol is so harmful to the body, then why is it not written on the package (on the label) that it is poison. Because alcohol itself is not a strong toxic substance for humans. The products of its (ethanol) breakdown in the body are toxic. Intoxication is the result of the breakdown of large amounts of ethyl alcohol by specific enzymes.

Blood pressure is an important indicator of the patient’s condition

All health-improving processes should be supervised by a specialist – an experienced narcologist.Only he is able to correctly assess the patient’s condition, give him the necessary medications and medications at this moment, and prescribe the necessary procedures.

Here we will simply summarize the general methods and knowledge about getting out of the crisis with withdrawal symptoms. During this period, it is very important to monitor your blood pressure. If it is greatly increased, and the values exceed more than 140 by 90, then first of all it is necessary to achieve its normalization. The use of drugs, droppers and medicines under the supervision of a physician will undoubtedly ensure the normalization of pressure, pulse rate and well-being.

Using a dropper to treat a hangover

Often for such cases, doctors use a dropper. It allows you to “drip”, as experienced patients like to say, quickly change the solution for infusion, and allows you to accurately dose the medication used. It is possible to get a drink from alcohol at home with the help of our narcologist.

In addition, at the time of the onset of a hangover, in order to prevent an exacerbation of side effects, it is necessary to give vitamins of the “B” group, also in some cases, by the decision of the doctor, a glucose solution is administered, or other solutions that restore the balance of substances in the body.

If, before the use of the dropper, the patient’s complaints were almost everything, then the liver ached, then the heart jumped out of the chest, then the head cracks, then after 15-20 minutes of dripping with a dropper, the symptoms disappear and the patient feels much better.

If the patient continues to have a drunken state, then the use of a dropper is almost simply necessary for the fastest detoxification of the body and the removal of the poisonous decomposition products of alcohol from it.Intravenous administration of drugs in this case provides the maximum stable state in such a difficult period for the body, the introduction of substances that help the body to quickly remove substances poisoning the internal organs.

Treat hangover syndrome only with the help of a specialist narcologist.

It is only he who will be able to organize withdrawal from hard drinking, medical monitoring of the patient’s condition during detoxification procedures and hangover treatment and, if necessary, will provide urgent medical assistance to the patient when his condition worsens.Remember that with withdrawal symptoms, all chronic diseases are sharply exacerbated.

Folk ways to get rid of a hangover

We strongly advise against fighting a hangover on your own. Examples of folk remedies for this are given only as examples of the historical experience of the peoples of Russia in relieving the state of health with a hangover.

The following products help to quickly relieve not a heavy hangover in the morning: pickle from pickled cucumbers, salted tomato juice, a glass of kefir.

If you feel unwell after excessive alcohol consumption the day before (pronounced hangover), it is recommended to drink a lot of liquid: fruit drink, rosehip broth, tea with lemon juice, kefir or fermented baked milk.

What not to do with a hangover

Taking a bath or sauna with a hangover

It has long been believed that the bath helps with a hangover and removing toxins from the body. It significantly speeds up the metabolism, allows you to remove toxins and toxic substances through sweat, and cleanses the skin.No one can deny the beneficial and healing properties of the bath, but on the condition that it must be used correctly.

But is a bath so useful for relieving a hangover? Will a person be able to withstand high temperatures when his body is already significantly bad? Will a bath help you with a hangover?

Doctors cardiologists do not recommend using a bath or sauna as a remedy for a hangover, primarily because of the safety in relation to the cardiovascular system. Yes, the bath perfectly removes toxins and toxins from the body.Yes, the bath can significantly speed up the metabolism of alcohol and its by-products, the breakdown of ethanol by special enzymes. But the bath is always a shock event for the body. And at the moment of not the best state, when the body is poisoned by toxic substances formed after processing inside alcohol compounds, the heart is in a strong “depression”, and all organs feel disgusting and signal to the brain – “I feel bad, I feel bad.” Doctors say that an already exhausted body, and especially the cardiovascular system, should not expose itself to such a shock experiment.

Use of pickles and other products containing vinegar

First of all, it is not recommended to use pickles and other products containing vinegar to relieve a hangover. They increase the acidic environment in the stomach and may have negative effects on the stomach.

Drinking brine for a hangover

A fairly old method of partial restoration of the body in everyday life. Using pickle brine helps to restore the salt balance in the body, while adding a lot of fluid to the intake.A lot of liquid is required during this period, so it is advisable to additionally drink a lot of liquid, preferably pure water or salty mineral water.

Tomato juice

Also a very effective way to restore physical condition with a hangover. Typically, tomato juice is sold salted, which is just right for the depression of a hangover. Fluid and saline are desirable ingredients for hangover relief.

How to properly treat a hangover – Health – Home

The cause of a hangover is a chemical process: the liver cannot cope with a large amount of ethyl alcohol entering the body and does not have time to process it into water and carbon dioxide, as a result of which acetaldehyde, an intermediate substance, appears in the blood this reaction. It is he who causes all the symptoms of a hangover, since it is even more toxic than alcohol.

Of course, it is best to drink alcohol in moderation or use various anti-hangover drugs, such as activated charcoal, which absorbs alcohol and prevents it from being absorbed into the bloodstream. But sometimes it’s too late: you’ve drunk a lot and the hangover has already begun. In this case, you need to start treating it.

The essence of hangover treatment is to eliminate painful symptoms, restore water-salt balance and remove toxic substances.

It is best to get a good night’s sleep after drinking – a long and deep sleep contributes to the rapid passing of unpleasant hangover symptoms. Waking up, you should take some herbal remedy, for example, Zenalk. It minimizes acetaldehyde in the body. The drug must be washed down with plenty of water, since during a hangover the body is severely dehydrated.

After that you need to take a hot shower and eat, even if you don’t feel like it. Various hot soups or broths, which have a beneficial effect on the stomach, are especially good.

However, if there are stomach problems, it is better to refuse a hearty breakfast and replace it with fluids. Mineral water, mint tea, kefir, liquid yogurt, orange or tomato juice have a good effect on the stomach. It is better to replace sugar in all drinks with honey. In addition, cucumber pickle or sauerkraut juice helps well – they compensate for the deficiency of salts in the body.

There are also medical treatments for a hangover. Of the drugs, it is best to choose those that are specifically designed for this, but you can use aspirin or citramone. Both the one and the other drug must be taken two tablets after meals. Citramon relieves headache and dizziness that accompanies it, and aspirin thins the blood and thereby reduces blood pressure. It is also a good idea to take vitamin C tablets – it helps to reduce the amount of alcohol in your blood.

In case of nausea and vomiting, it is recommended to take activated charcoal – 1 tablet per 10 kg of body weight, and to help the liver, you can take 2 no-shpa tablets.

But to eliminate the unpleasant smell of “fumes”, you should take vitamin B6 in ampoules: open two ampoules, pour into half a glass of water, stir well and drink in one gulp.

In severe cases, you must seek qualified medical help.

Hangover | Alcoholic drinks

“Not scary fun, but scary hangover”, – says folk wisdom. And if you now involuntarily shuddered, it means that you yourself once met this misfortune face to face. Our compatriots are especially close to the pangs of a hangover: in no other country in the world has a hangover found such embodiment in folk art, in no other country have so many recipes been invented how to treat a hangover. The theme of “the peculiarities of the national hangover”, being unbearably close and understandable for the overwhelming majority of Russians, has become an endless testing ground for exercises in wit and is reflected in many books, films, plays and songs. In general, the Russian people, with their characteristic optimism, turned even such a seemingly sad story as a hangover into a joke. Perhaps the most accurate description of the situation was the Russian satirist Mikhail Zadornov, who said that “a hangover is a Russian national holiday that is celebrated in the morning.”

But do not think that foreigners do not know anything about this syndrome: in Portugal the word “hangover” literally translates as “jackhammer”, in Norway – “carpenters in the head” snout “.Yes, and own folk remedies for a hangover, as well as techniques and tricks on how to remove a hangover, are present in almost every state. The wisest in this matter, by the way, turned out to be the Chinese: they introduced a tradition of how to prevent a hangover: all spirits in China insist on green tea leaves. Recipes for the hangover of other peoples, although they are popular in their homeland, are unlikely to suit us: differences in mentality, lifestyle, and physiology in the end.

Symptoms of a hangover are familiar to everyone who has ever drunk cheap alcoholic beverages of dubious quality or consumed high-quality drinks immoderately. The signs of a hangover are well known, but they are no less debilitating from this: headache, nausea, heart palpitations, tremors, aversion to tastes, smells and life in general, weakness, dizziness, and, of course, thirst … In especially severe cases, depressed mood and even panic attacks, and the heroine of the popular American TV series, being in a similar situation, said: “Even my hair hurts!” Hair is not hair, but the state of a hangover is really disgusting, so it is not surprising that the question “How to get rid of a hangover? “Is extremely relevant.

I’ll start with the bad news: it’s the 21st century, people calmly fly into space and create robots, and scientists have never invented a cure for a hangover. But what about the massively advertised hangover pills like Alka-Seltzer and others like them? – you ask. No, “give up hope everyone who enters here”, this is also not a cure for a hangover, they just help alleviate the symptoms of a hangover a little. Therefore, I would strongly advise against abusing strong drinks and ingesting exceptionally high-quality alcohol (from a glass of real wine or a glass of good vodka, no one in the morning has suffered excruciating pain) in small quantities (if you live under the motto “I know my measure, I fell – that’s enough “, No hangover remedies will save you), with a good snack (but do not overeat!) And in a pleasant atmosphere, so that the morning with a hangover does not make you regret the day you were born.As it was said in the book by Maxim Malyavin, a writer and also a psychiatrist, “survivors of a hangover in the summer heat can boldly make faces of the Inquisition and show indecent signs of torture to the masters – more likely the second and third will give out an affect with suicide than the former will ask for mercy.” Very similar to reality! But there are ways how to relieve a hangover and survive the painful period with the least losses, and a great many have been invented.

Before talking about what helps with a hangover, you need to understand why a hangover actually occurs, and consider the remedies for a hangover in relation to factors that cause various unpleasant sensations.First, the amount of alcohol consumed may be fatal: on average, the permissible dose is 1 gram of vodka per 1 kilogram of body weight, that is, the rate of intake of alcoholic beverages into the body must correspond to the metabolic rate – the liver converts alcohol into a safe compound. Of course, for a particular person, this indicator is exclusively individual, and it is determined genetically, therefore the indicated figures are approximate. Everyone has their own norm, and all that remains is to applaud those who know and observe this norm, while the rest awaits an unenviable fate – puzzling over the question of how to treat a hangover in the morning.Secondly, chemicals that are harmful to the human body act as the culprits of the disease: fusel oils, ethers, isoamyl alcohol. These impurities are contained in low-quality alcohol, so you need to be extremely careful when choosing where and what alcoholic drinks to buy.

If you practice buying alcohol without excise stamps or, even worse, “homemade wine” from your grandmother in the market, do not be surprised that the morning of the next day after drinking will be bleak, and you will swear to yourself and those around you that you will never again what circumstances you will not come closer to alcoholic beverages than a mile away.In addition, in order not to suffer from a hangover, you should not mix different drinks – the amount of harmful compounds increases several times. Thirdly, low-quality alcohol and too large doses of alcoholic beverages negatively affect the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract. In addition, large amounts of alcoholic drinks disrupt the electrolyte and acid-base balance in the body, which leads to a lack of moisture and dehydration, provokes cerebral edema and increased intracranial pressure – which is why a hangover causes a headache. What helps with a hangover? Eliminate the feeling that the head will burst from minute to minute, drugs such as analgin, aspirin, citramone, salicylate, ibuprofen and so on and so forth will allow. But you should be more careful with the pills, so it is better to use folk remedies for a hangover like a decoction of mint, milk thistle, rosemary or dandelion, and also do not forget about cold compresses on the forehead – the pain in the head should gradually subside.

As a wise Japanese proverb says, “A non-drinker does not know how good water tastes from a hangover.”To cope with a hangover, you need to drink as much liquid as possible – this is the best help for a hangover, because this way you can not only gradually quench your thirst and make up for the lack of water, but also speed up the elimination of toxic substances from the body that cause nausea and sweating. The liquid deficiency the next morning after a “fun” night is about one and a half liters of water, but drinking the whole amount at once is not the best idea. It is necessary to drink in small portions for 1.5-2 hours. But what to drink with a hangover is an interesting and important question.Forget about tea or coffee, even if you want to quickly come to your senses and “cheer up”. The state of a hangover already implies stress for the body, and invigorating, caffeinated drinks will only aggravate the situation. Better for these purposes mineral water is suitable (it will also help to cope with toxins), preferably alkaline and with the addition of a lemon wedge (vitamin C – the whole head; if there are no citrus fruits at hand, eat ascorbic acid), as well as fresh juices (fructose promotes “burning “Alcohol, honey, by the way, has the same saving effect), bread kvass and brine. The last two drinks will solve another pressing hangover problem that causes muscle pain, weakness and decreased mental capacity – a deficiency in the body of electrolytes: sodium, potassium, magnesium and phosphorus.

But let’s take a step back and dwell for a while on the most popular, almost textbook anti-hangover drink – brine, a special conversation with it. There is a version that this drink does not save from a hangover, and the tradition of drinking it in the morning after libations went back to the days when pickles were canned with the addition of vodka.Simply put, those with withdrawal symptoms were simply hung over with brine. Be that as it may, there will be no harm from a non-alcoholic analogue: cucumber, tomato and cabbage pickles are well-balanced solutions of potassium and sodium and, in addition, contain many useful minerals.

Kefir with its fermented milk counterparts (but without fanaticism), tomato juice (one of the popular recipes prescribes mixing it with egg yolk), low-fat broth (it helps to restore the functioning of the stomach and intestines and supplies the body with easily digestible nutrients) are also considered favorable drinks during a hangover. substances), herbal decoction (be sure to include mint, chamomile, willow bark and ginger), compote and cranberry juice. To normalize acidity in a tired stomach, stir a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water and drink. A solution of mint drops also has a good effect against a hangover: 5-6 drops per glass of water. Rowan infusion, rosehip decoction and quinine-containing Schweppes will help to partially eliminate edema and reduce intoxication. But it is not recommended to drink plain water. In severe cases, the electrolyte balance will be restored by the Rehydron solution.

How to deal with a hangover if you urgently need to start thinking and get involved in work? Pills called glycine, picamilon, pantogam, mexidol, novopassit, persen, negrustin will help to “return the brain to its place” and somewhat smooth out the negative effect on the nervous system. The last three preparations are made on the basis of St. John’s wort, so you can prepare a decoction yourself, it will also be useful. Other “natural” sedatives include cocoa, milk, and non-alcoholic beer.

We sort of figured out what to drink with a hangover, but removing a hangover also implies getting rid of toxic substances that still remain in the body and mercilessly poison it. It happens that drinking plenty of fluids is not enough, then sorbent preparations will come to the rescue: enterosgel, polyphene, zorex, polysorb – there are a lot of modern medicines, but the well-known smecta and activated carbon are also suitable.I apologize for the scientific term, but all of the above refers to the so-called physical detoxification, and there is also a biochemical one. This method consists in accelerating metabolic processes by eating foods containing citric, succinic or lactic acid. By the way, hangover pills sold in pharmacies are most often nothing more than a combination of these substances. But there are also various biologically active additives (dietary supplements), positioning themselves as drugs for a hangover and designed to reduce the toxic effects of alcohol on the body: Antipohmelin, Alcohol, AlkaStop, Vascular Doctor, Folium, Bizon, Vega +, Korrda-K and many others.

And finally, some general tips on how to get rid of a hangover, what to do and what not to do in such situations, as well as the most famous folk recipes for a hangover. First and foremost: if possible, go to bed after first aid measures, because sleep is an extremely effective cure for a hangover. But if you urgently need to gain clarity of consciousness, and time is running out (for example, if you are late for work), a cool or contrasting shower will return your pep. Just do not overdo it, otherwise colds will also be added to the hangover syndromes. We have already mentioned that strong tea or coffee will not improve the state of a hangover; for the same reasons, you should not resort to stimulants like eleutherococcus, ginseng, lemongrass, leuzea. Walking in the fresh air, as well as light gymnastics and breathing exercises will provide good help with a hangover – but this is for those who have physical fitness and have enough strength for such a feat in the morning. If the morning with a hangover did not deprive you of your appetite and even after heavy libations you feel hungry, do not deny yourself a light breakfast (or lunch, that’s how it will turn out). How to relieve a hangover with food? Vegetables, fresh herbs, sauerkraut will become good allies in the fight against a hangover – feel free to use them as ingredients. But no heavy, greasy food!

But a popular mistake is a hangover bath. The poor heart does not work so well, and then he still has such a load, think again! In extreme cases, a few minutes of dry sauna or not too hot bath are permissible, preferably with the addition of essential oils (rosemary or lavender). Another, even more common and dangerous misconception is the removal of a hangover with alcohol.Never listen to “smart people” who will persuade: “Drink a glass of vodka, and everything will pass” and assert that you need alcohol to drink with a hangover – they say, they knock out a wedge with a wedge. Well-being can really improve for a short time, but this will only delay the inevitable retribution, because a new shock dose of toxins will enter the body, the supply of electrolytes will suffer even more, and everything will start all over again. For those who will now boast of their own knowledge, they say, but what about the famous hangover cure – the Bloody Mary cocktail, I will reveal a terrible secret: the original cocktail recipe absolutely does not provide for vodka, it includes tomato juice, yolk, salt and pepper. This hangover cure is really harmless. There is another threat in the “drunken” method. As the folk sages say: “If you pour a hangover with brine, it goes away quickly – if you start” treating “it, the” treatment “will take a long time.” Another common aphorism also makes sense: “Careless drunkenness can lead to prolonged binge drinking.” Seriously though, the line between “improving health” and “becoming an alcoholic” is very unstable, so do not tempt fate. Here is the opinion of a competent expert, director of the British Medical Council on alcoholism, Guy Ratcliffe: “The only effective hangover cure is time.”Alas, in order for the hangover to go away, you need to humbly wait a certain time, and, strictly speaking, it is impossible to cure a hangover.

And although there are very, very many ways how to relieve a hangover have been invented, which one is right for you is unknown. Everything here is deeply individual, besides the hangover syndrome and its course depend on the general state of health, on the amount of alcohol consumed the day before and many other factors. But the main thing that is worth remembering: a hangover is not one symptom, but an interconnected system of them, therefore, the approach to the treatment of a hangover should be comprehensive. And it is better, of course, not to get drunk to the “state of non-standing”, so that later on not thinking about how to cure a hangover. There are also a number of rules for drinking alcoholic beverages, the main ones being: drink high-quality, proven alcohol, take pauses, have a snack and do not mix everything. There are also “preventive measures” to combat hangovers, among them all kinds of means to prevent rapid intoxication and nightmarish morning consequences, but this, as they say, is from the evil one.

If you still do not exclude the possibility of this unpleasant state, then here are a few folk recipes for your hangover to pass:

1) “Bloody Mary” hangover cocktail (we already mentioned it above): in a glass of tomato juice add egg yolk and drink without stirring.

2) Combine 1 cup orange juice, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, half cup low fat yogurt, half cup ginger ale (this is a non-alcoholic ginger drink), add mint.

3) Mix brine and curdled milk in equal proportions (whey is possible). You can add a raw egg to the cocktail.

4) The recipe is similar to the previous one, only tomato juice is used instead of brine. Salt.

5) Add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of honey to a glass of cold mineral water.Instead of lemon juice, 6 percent apple cider vinegar will work.

6) Vinegar (1 tablespoon) can also be beaten with a raw egg, pepper and salt.

7) The so-called “recipe for the hangover of Peter I” is simple, like everything ingenious: 1 glass of very concentrated compote from dried fruits.

8) Another simple, but effective recipe is to grind 2 lemons (along with the zest) in a blender, add 2 teaspoons of salt and dilute with half a liter of water.

9) Boil 2-3 sliced lemons or pomegranates (can be combined) for half an hour, strain and chill the drink.

10) If you are so perspicacious that you can predict the onset of a hangover in 2 weeks, here is a miracle recipe for you: mix finely chopped white cabbage with a tablespoon of salt and grind until juice appears. Add grated carrots and 3 tablespoons of green leafy tea. Put all this stuff under oppression, and put it in the refrigerator on the eve of the celebration. Drink the resulting juice in the morning.

But I would like to emphasize once again: all these recipes are aimed at eliminating or at least partially alleviating the symptoms of a hangover, and not at treating the hangover itself – the latter is simply impossible. So buy good alcoholic beverages, drink them in moderate doses, in a company dear to your heart – and you will be happy. 90,000 How to treat a hangover: 15 recipes from around the world

90,000 How Can I Treat Vomiting Hangover?

Hangover vomiting can usually be treated with rest, fluids, and sometimes a small amount of soft food, which can help neutralize excess stomach acid.Hydration is one of the most important parts of hangover treatment due to the diuretic effects of alcohol, and inadequate fluid replacement can often prolong the effects of this unpleasant condition. Drinking alcohol above your body’s natural limit and mixing several types of alcohol in your stomach are two of the most common causes of prolonged hangover with nausea and vomiting. Although most cases of hangover vomiting go away within a day, persistent vomiting of any food or liquid swallowed for a longer period of time can be a sign of alcohol poisoning that requires medical attention.

The day after drinking a lot of alcohol, rest is a key component of improving your well-being when you are on the verge of vomiting. Don’t go to work or school; just call and let the relevant party know you are sick, without further clarification. The same idea applies to any type of scheduled meeting or engagement. Spend the day relaxing in bed, ideally where you have quick access to the bathroom during your hangover attacks. If you are sensitive to light, close all curtains in your room; in this case, bright light can worsen hangover nausea

Drinking enough water consistently before and after drinking alcohol is one of the most effective ways to minimize hangovers. While hangover vomiting is the body’s natural way of flushing out toxic alcohol by-products, it can also usually flush out any other fluids the body needs to recover.Drink small portions from a glass of water while recovering from a hangover, but do not take large sips first to avoid further stomach irritation. Sports drinks can be a good source of replacement for lost electrolytes and glucose, and weak juices like grapes or apples can also aid in the rehydration process.

Certain foods, such as soft crackers and dry toast, are effective in reducing hangover symptoms. Eating them in small amounts can help reduce the acidic effects of the decaying byproducts of alcohol, which often cause a burning sensation in the stomach and throat during hangover vomiting. These types of foods should be eaten slowly at first, ideally after you have had at least one glass of water, juice, or sports drink.

Do not hangover in any case.

Minus for minus does not always give a plus. Especially when it comes to alcohol. Having harmed the body in the evening, you will not help it at all by taking an additional portion of alcohol in the morning.

Beer, a glass of vodka or a glass of champagne drunk after a binge – is a way to overload all organs that are already actively fighting poisoning.

Do not eat fatty foods

It is believed that food is the best medicine, because it can “absorb” the remnants of alcohol. But no.

If in the morning you have no appetite and you feel nausea – food will not be absorbed and will soon come out of vomit. Since the body, instead of fighting the poisoning, will throw all its energy into digesting heavy food, your improvement will slow down even more.

Avoid coffee.

A cup of coffee, which is usually invigorating and stimulating, is an unwanted procedure during a hangover.

Coffee strongly dehydrates the body, which is already experiencing a moisture deficit after drinking .In addition, caffeine affects heart function, raises blood pressure and increases stress hormones. Therefore, instead of coffee, drink plain water. Trust that it will do more good.

No marinades

Some people confuse them with brine, but unlike the latter, the marinade contains vinegar. Annoyed alcoholic beverages stomach and so it is going through hard times, and the acid will only increase the discomfort.

Careful with medications

Another common mistake is uncontrolled medication. Not all of them help to overcome a hangover. For example, anti-nausea pills prevent the elimination of toxins in a natural way. Also, not all pain relievers can be combined with alcoholic beverages. Therefore, it is a bad idea to relieve a headache with drugs if you drank 5-7 hours ago.
