The Power of Inspirational Quotes in Alcoholism Recovery
Overcoming alcoholism is a challenging journey that requires strength, determination, and support. Inspirational quotes can serve as powerful reminders and sources of motivation for those on the path to sobriety. These words of wisdom, often shared by those who have walked the same path, can provide comfort, encouragement, and valuable insights into the recovery process.
How Quotes Can Impact Your Recovery Journey
Inspirational quotes can impact your recovery journey in several ways:
- Offer perspective during difficult times
- Provide motivation to stay committed to sobriety
- Remind you that others have successfully overcome similar challenges
- Offer insights into the nature of addiction and recovery
- Serve as daily affirmations to reinforce your commitment to sobriety
The Importance of Taking Sobriety One Step at a Time
One of the most common themes in recovery quotes is the importance of taking sobriety one step at a time. This approach is crucial for several reasons:
“Every recovery from alcoholism began with one sober hour”
This quote emphasizes the importance of small beginnings. Recovery is a gradual process that starts with a single moment of sobriety. By focusing on achieving and maintaining sobriety for short periods, individuals can build momentum and confidence in their ability to overcome addiction.
“One day at a time”
This well-known phrase in recovery circles highlights the importance of focusing on the present. Why is this approach effective? By concentrating on staying sober for just one day, the task becomes more manageable and less overwhelming. This mindset helps individuals avoid becoming discouraged by the long-term nature of recovery and instead celebrates daily victories.
Understanding the Recovery Process: No Easy Solutions
Recovery from alcoholism is a complex process that requires dedication and effort. Several quotes emphasize this reality:
“There is no elevator. You have to take the steps.”
This quote serves as a reminder that there are no shortcuts in recovery. It often refers to the 12-step program, a widely used approach in addiction treatment. Why are step-by-step approaches beneficial in recovery? They provide structure, accountability, and a clear path forward, helping individuals navigate the challenges of sobriety systematically.
“Sobriety is a journey, not a destination”
This quote underscores the ongoing nature of recovery. It reminds individuals that maintaining sobriety is a lifelong process that requires continuous effort and growth. How does this perspective benefit those in recovery? It encourages a long-term commitment to personal growth and helps individuals avoid complacency in their sobriety.
The Role of Personal Responsibility in Overcoming Addiction
Taking responsibility for one’s actions and choices is a crucial aspect of recovery. Several quotes highlight this important concept:
“You’re not responsible for your disease, but you are responsible for your behavior.”
This quote draws an important distinction between the nature of addiction as a disease and an individual’s responsibility for their actions. While alcoholism is recognized as a medical condition, this perspective emphasizes that individuals still have control over their choices and behaviors. How does this mindset empower those in recovery? It encourages individuals to take an active role in their recovery journey, making conscious decisions to support their sobriety.
“If you’re not moving away from a drink, then you’re moving closer to it”
This quote highlights the importance of continuous effort in maintaining sobriety. It suggests that recovery is an active process that requires ongoing commitment. Why is this perspective valuable? It encourages individuals to remain vigilant and proactive in their recovery, constantly working to strengthen their sobriety rather than becoming complacent.
Developing Healthy Coping Mechanisms in Recovery
Many individuals turn to alcohol as a way to cope with stress, conflict, or emotional pain. However, part of the recovery process involves learning healthier ways to manage life’s challenges.
“Serenity is not the absence of conflict, but the ability to cope with it”
This quote offers a profound insight into the nature of emotional well-being and recovery. It suggests that the goal of sobriety is not to eliminate all of life’s problems, but to develop the skills to handle them without turning to alcohol. How can this perspective benefit those in recovery? It encourages the development of healthy coping mechanisms and emotional resilience, crucial skills for maintaining long-term sobriety.
The Importance of Support in the Recovery Journey
Recovery from alcoholism is not a solitary journey. Many quotes emphasize the importance of seeking and accepting support throughout the process.
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much”
While not specifically about addiction, this quote by Helen Keller resonates deeply with the recovery community. It underscores the power of collective support in overcoming challenges. Why is support crucial in recovery? Support systems, whether through formal treatment programs, support groups, or loved ones, provide encouragement, accountability, and shared experiences that can be invaluable in maintaining sobriety.
Embracing Hope and Possibility in Recovery
Hope is a powerful force in the recovery process. Many inspirational quotes focus on instilling a sense of hope and possibility for those struggling with alcoholism.
“It is never too late to be what you might have been”
This quote, often attributed to George Eliot, speaks to the transformative power of recovery. It reminds individuals that regardless of their past, there is always potential for positive change and growth. How does this message impact those in recovery? It offers hope and encouragement, particularly for those who may feel that their addiction has derailed their life goals or potential.
Recovery from alcoholism is a challenging but rewarding journey. These inspirational quotes offer wisdom, encouragement, and practical insights to support individuals on their path to sobriety. By embracing these messages of hope, responsibility, and perseverance, those struggling with alcoholism can find strength and motivation to overcome their addiction and build a healthier, more fulfilling life.
Practical Applications of Recovery Wisdom
While inspirational quotes can provide motivation and insight, it’s important to translate these ideas into practical actions in daily life. Here are some ways to apply the wisdom found in these quotes:
Creating Daily Affirmations
How can you use recovery quotes in your daily routine? Consider selecting a few that resonate with you and using them as daily affirmations. Write them on sticky notes and place them where you’ll see them often, such as your bathroom mirror, refrigerator, or work desk. This practice can help reinforce your commitment to sobriety and provide encouragement throughout the day.
Journaling for Recovery
Journaling can be a powerful tool in the recovery process. How can you incorporate inspirational quotes into your journaling practice? Try using a quote as a prompt for reflection. Write about what the quote means to you, how it applies to your recovery journey, and any insights or emotions it brings up. This exercise can help deepen your understanding of recovery principles and track your progress over time.
Sharing in Support Groups
Many recovery support groups, such as Alcoholics Anonymous, incorporate shared wisdom and experiences into their meetings. How can you use inspirational quotes in this setting? Consider sharing a quote that has been particularly meaningful to you and discussing how it has impacted your recovery journey. This can spark valuable discussions and allow others to benefit from the wisdom you’ve found helpful.
Overcoming Challenges in the Recovery Journey
The path to sobriety is rarely smooth, and individuals often face numerous challenges along the way. Inspirational quotes can provide guidance and encouragement during these difficult times.
Dealing with Setbacks
Setbacks are a common part of the recovery process. How can inspirational quotes help in these moments? Quotes that emphasize perseverance and the ongoing nature of recovery can be particularly helpful. They remind individuals that a setback doesn’t negate all the progress they’ve made and encourage them to recommit to their sobriety journey.
Handling Triggers and Cravings
Triggers and cravings can be significant challenges in maintaining sobriety. How can recovery wisdom help in these situations? Quotes that focus on personal responsibility and the importance of active choice can be powerful reminders in moments of temptation. They can help individuals pause, reflect, and make conscious decisions that support their recovery goals.
Maintaining Long-Term Motivation
As time passes, the initial motivation for getting sober may fade. How can inspirational quotes help maintain long-term commitment to sobriety? Quotes that emphasize the ongoing nature of recovery and the benefits of a sober lifestyle can help renew motivation. They serve as reminders of why the individual chose sobriety and the positive changes it has brought to their life.
In conclusion, inspirational quotes about alcoholism recovery offer more than just feel-good messages. They encapsulate hard-earned wisdom from those who have successfully navigated the challenges of addiction and sobriety. By reflecting on and applying these insights, individuals in recovery can find strength, motivation, and practical guidance to support their journey to a healthier, alcohol-free life. Remember, recovery is a personal journey, and different messages may resonate at different times. The key is to remain open to the wisdom offered by others while forging your own path to lasting sobriety.
10 Inspirational Quotes About Alcoholism Treatment
Quitting drinking can be a lengthy and difficult process. You didn’t develop an alcohol problem overnight, so overcoming alcoholism will not happen overnight either. As tough as it is, it is not impossible and you should not give up. While you are quitting drinking, it is important to stay strong, get support, and seek alcoholism treatment when needed. It also helps remember you’re not alone in your struggle.
Many people struggle with alcoholism daily and everyday people get sober and stay so sober and so can you. While on your journey to sobriety it may help take some advice from people going through the same thing as you.
Here Are Some Inspirational Quotes to Help Get You Through Recovery
“Every recovery from alcoholism began with one sober hour”
You have to start somewhere and it might as well be right now. Every person who ever quit drinking had to start at the beginning. It starts with one hour, then it becomes one day, then a week and before you know it you are on the road to recovery. No one starts off with a year of sobriety behind them and neither will you. Start slow and keep moving forward.
“One day at a time”
Getting sober isn’t easy and the urge to drink will not go away. You have to take it one day at a time. You can quit drinking and you can remain sober, but you have to take it one step at a time. We have no certainty for any day, but today so use today to quit drinking. Use today to remain sober. You cannot change the past or the days you spent drinking, but you can control how you live daily from now on.
“There is no elevator. You have to take the steps.”
There is not going to be an easy way out. When quitting drinking you are going to come across challenges and struggle, but you can do it. Following a twelve-step plan is a common tool for becoming sober. The 12 step program is a trusted and common method of getting sober and staying clean. It has helped many people and continues to do so daily. When you decide to quit drinking, it is a good idea to speak with professionals who can help you determine what is your best course of action. The twelve-step program can help you, but you have to work the program. If you want to recover, then you have to take every step necessary.
“You’re not responsible for your disease, but you are responsible for your behavior.”
You are not responsible for your alcoholism. It is a disease and should be treated as one. You can choose how you behave though. You always have a choice even when you are an alcoholic. You did not choose to be an alcoholic, but you can choose whether to drink. When you quit drinking it is important to understand the difference between what you can control and what you cannot control. You have no power over being an alcoholic, but you do have power over how it affects your life. You can choose to drink and let alcoholism take over your life, or you can choose to acknowledge your problem and quit drinking. You are responsible for your life even when you do not have control over every aspect of it.
“If you’re not moving away from a drink, then you’re moving closer to it”
To quit drinking you must first accept that you have a drinking problem. If you do not acknowledge your problem then you are never going to fix it. If you are not trying to fix the problem, then you are only going to get worse. You have to move away from your past life as a drinker and move forward to a sober life. Staying in the situation you are in will only further your drinking.
“Sobriety is a journey, not a destination”
Quitting drinking and getting sober is a lengthy process. There are going to be times when it is tough and times when it seems downright impossible, but you must keep at it. Staying sober is a lifelong process with no end in sight. Alcoholism is something that never goes away whether you are drinking or not. Sobriety is not a destination because you will never be fully cured of your alcoholism, but that doesn’t mean you can’t remain sober.
“Serenity is not the absence of conflict, but the ability to cope with it”
Many people turn to drinking to cope with the hardship or conflict in their lives. This often has the opposite effect and instead of helping people cope, drinking actually makes matters much worse. Life will never be completely perfect and there will always be times when conflict arises, but that does not mean you have to drink in those situations. Drinking your problems away will not work and you will never find peace through drinking. Instead, it is important to find healthy ways to cope with conflict and stress in your life. Finding serenity in your life won’t happen when you have no conflict in your life, but instead when you cope with the conflict in a healthy and sober manner.
“It is never too late to be what you might have been.”
Regret is a powerful emotion that can keep people from moving on with their lives. When it comes to substance abuse, this is particularly true. People may want to seek treatment, but they may feel as if they are too far gone to get clean and that their ideal lives have already become impossible.
While it is easy to see how people with drug or alcohol addictions come to this point, it is crucial to avoid this defeatist attitude, particularly while in recovery. The road may be long and tough, but that does not mean it will not end at a destination that former drug and alcohol users have been searching for their entire lives.
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
The prospect of seeking treatment for a drug or alcohol addiction is a significant event in a person’s life. However, much refuse help not because they believe they do not need it, but because they do not believe they can live without their substance of choice. To these people, a life without drugs or alcohol is one that they are not strong enough to achieve.
This is nothing short of a self-fulfilling prophecy. It does not matter what people have experienced with drugs and alcohol, just as it does not matter that recovering from substance abuse is complicated – if people believe they can lead healthier lives, they will.
“You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”
Though there is no single cause for addiction, low self-esteem and other emotional issues that cause people to have a negative view of themselves often contribute to the development of substance abuse. These thoughts can also keep people from seeking help, as they may believe that a life of drug and alcohol abuse is all they deserve.
It goes without saying that this is not true. Everyone is worthy of respect and love, but that cannot happen until the person struggling with substance abuse learns to afford him- or herself the same.

ALCOHOLISM QUOTES
quotations about alcoholism
Alcohol addiction stunts the spiritual, emotional and mental growth of a person. For the alcoholic, they literally stop wanting to learn or advance themselves on any level other than the one they are already on. This is why many alcoholics are emotionally stunted and are unable to contain their emotions. Many alcoholics believe that once they are sober for a few months they are cured. Nothing could be further from the truth. An alcoholic is not cured just because they stopped drinking. Remember, “the drinking” for the alcoholic is only a symptom of an underlying problem within him or her. Total sobriety takes more than abstinence–it takes a spiritual and mental awareness through healing and growth. I have never yet read about, or heard of a case where an alcoholic stopped drinking, but then years later they were able to drink one or two drinks and stop.
ANGIE LEWIS
A man who drinks too much on occasion is still the same man as he was sober. An alcoholic, a real alcoholic, is not the same man at all. You can’t predict anything about him for sure except that he will be someone you never met before.

I felt empty and sad for years, and for a long, long time, alcohol worked. I’d drink, and all the sadness would go away. Not only did the sadness go away, but I was fantastic. I was beautiful, funny, I had a great figure, and I could do math. But at some point, the booze stopped working. That’s when drinking started sucking. Every time I drank, I could feel pieces of me leaving. I continued to drink until there was nothing left. Just emptiness.

Everything I Never Wanted to Be: A Memoir of Alcoholism and Addiction
To understand why alcoholism is a disease, it is important to know about the neurological effects of alcohol on the brain. Simply put, heavy drinking over time causes changes in neurotransmitter activity that the brain must adapt to. In people physically predisposed to alcoholism, this adaptation eventually turns into a fixed craving as the body finds it cannot live without the effects of alcohol. Something that started out voluntarily and enjoyable turns into something more serious–a physical dependence that can cause horrible withdrawel symptoms. This explains why alcoholics cannot just quit drinking like their nonaddicted counterparts can. Thus, it is not the behavior of drinking that is defined as an illness. It is only when the craving to drink becomes involuntary that alcoholism can be thought of as a disease.

All excess is ill, but drunkenness is of the worst sort. It spoils health, dismounts the mind, and unmans men. It reveals secrets, is quarrelsome, lascivious, impudent, dangerous and mad. One of the most important facts to remember about alcoholism is its progression. Alcoholism begins in an early stage that looks nothing at all like a life-threatening disease, proceeds into a middle stage where problems begin to appear and intensify, and gradually advances into the late, degenerative stages of obvious physiological dependence, physical and psychological deterioration, and loss of control.

Alcohol ruined me financially and morally, broke my heart and the hearts of too many others. Even though it did this to me and it almost killed me and I haven’t touched a drop of it in seventeen years, sometimes I wonder if I could get away with drinking some now. 8 Quotes from Famous People Who Stopped Drinking Like a Boss
Written by The Coleman Institute
January 30, 2020
I carry a pen around at work (even though I have had to resign myself to using electronic medical records. ..sigh) because my patients in recovery say the most profound things.
I mean, they’re not even trying to—and astonishing, inspiring things come out of their sober mouths as they work through an accelerated opioid detox or alcohol detox. I grab whatever I can to write on, often the back of a prescription pad, and beg them to, “Slow down! I want to capture this word for word!”
As part of my job to write blogs, I can find any kind of facts and research on Google, but hearing real people say real things is what truly gets my writing mojo going.
Just because most of my patients are everyday, real people (although we’ve treated a few celebs in our time at the Coleman Institute for Addiction Medicine), doesn’t mean their words aren’t powerful. I will collect them in a blog article at some point, but I wanted to share a few notable words from some notable people that have found incredible contentment in recovery.
- “The priority of any addict is to anesthetize the pain of living to ease the passage of day with some purchased relief. ” — Russell Brand
- “I remember grey miserable nights. I was in a coma for most of it, so I missed the whole decade, including the Beatles. One day I just thought, ‘I’ve had enough of this.’ It was simple. I didn’t want to go on feeling bad. I don’t miss drinking, not at all. I don’t want to ever go back there.” — Anthony Hopkins
- “I tried to drown my sorrows in alcohol, but the bastards learned how to swim.” — Frida Kahlo
- “I am more successful than I have ever been. I feel very positive where I never did before, and I think that’s all a direct result of getting sober.” — Jamie Lee Curtis
- “I got sober. I stopped killing myself with alcohol. I began to think: ‘Wait a minute, if I can stop doing this, what are the possibilities?’ And slowly it dawned on me that it was maybe worth the risk.” — Craig Ferguson
- “I decided that the single most subversive, revolutionary thing I could do was to show up for my life and not be ashamed. ” — Anne Lamott
- “But like most drunks that had gotten sober, I got to the point where I was deteriorating faster than I could lower my standards, you know? So, I was getting to a point where I was living in a way that involved waking up sick and with a lot of shame and just kind of animal confusion.” — Anne Lamott
If you need help to stop drinking alcohol, inspiration is all around you. At the Coleman Institute for Addiction Medicine, our focus is getting real people safely off alcohol, opiates, and benzodiazepines. Please call us if we could be of service.

I always have for all areas of my life, whether that’s for business success through to motivational quotes for my love of running and the same is true for my sobriety journey. From the interaction the quotes I post online receive, it is clear that I am not alone, so if you too love an inspirational quote, then this blog post is for you!
I wanted to put together some of my favourite inspirational quotes which have provided me with a positive boost for embracing my sober life and I hope they help you!
#1 Rob Lowe
I am absolutely love this quote from Rob Lowe. For those that don’t know, Rob Lowe is an American actor who has been in shows such as The West Wing. Throughout his life he has struggled with addiction and he was reported for saying the above quote on his views of addiction and recovery.
Why do I like it?
When I first read this quote, it literally felt like the words were written for me. My sobriety does genuinely feel like a gift I have given not just to myself, but to my family and friends as well. I’m a better person sober. More focused, alive, happier, a better husband and father. When I posted the above image to my Instagram followers, it also generated some fantastic interaction from others who also seemed to really appreciate the words from Rob Lowe and that’s why it takes the top spot!
#2 Winston Churchill
No matter what you think of the Winston Churchill, this quote from him can be applied to anyone facing any challenges in their life. At times, removing alcohol and opting for a positive life of sobriety can be extremely hard. The addiction wants to remain in control and it can feel like an impossible hell. However, this pain will not last. Do not give up.
Why do I like it?
This is one of those quotes that I remember frequently and use it when I am facing challenges and I can’t see an end in sight. It reminds me that the negative situation I am currently facing will not last and I just have to keep going forward day-by-day and things will improve. It helped me at the start to stick to my sobriety journey, knowing that I was doing the right thing by getting rid of the booze. This quote was also liked by a large following on my Instagram community so I wanted to also share it here with you.
#3 Eric Thomas
Eric Thomas is a motivational speaker and mentor who has been through some tough experiences growing up, which includes being homeless. He has now built an extremely successful career and is known worldwide. If you have not heard his full speech before to a classroom which includes the above quote, then please take a few minutes out to give it a listen HERE.
Why do I like it?
I love the whole speech that Eric Thomas delivers to a classroom of students. It’s a mixture of tough love and also motivation to succeed in life. The quote above can be used for any life situation including facing addiction. It’s reminding yourself that the pain you may be experiencing now will not last forever. However, if we quit our sober journey because of this temporary pain of removing alcohol from our lives, then the pain of addiction will remain in our lives forever.
#4 Dalai Lama
Again, whilst this quote isn’t based on sobriety, it’s something that is incredibly important for anyone who is struggling with addiction. The underlying message here delivered beautifully by the Dalai Lama is that your addiction is caused by an underlying unresolved issue. This may be something way back in past from your childhood or could be something more recent. Until this issue has been discovered and resolved can true sobriety begin. Looking inward first and dealing with your problems will allow for your sobriety to flourish.
Why do I like it?
The resonates with me because I had issues through childhood which I firmly believe caused problems with an addiction to alcohol in my adult life. It was only once I truly looked at this that I was able to make peace with my past and not let it negatively impact my future.
#5 Unknown
From my own personal experience of recovery and from speaking with my sober community, we can often be too hard on ourselves when making a life changing commitment – recovery. It is not a straight line upward of success, there will be set backs and day’s where it seems impossible which includes relapses. However, the important thing to remember is to keep pushing forward. It doesn’t have to be perfect; you just need to be keep taking steps in the right direction.
Why do I like it?
I love this quote because it perfectly states what a lot of people in recovery need to remember. We are often too hard on ourselves and then make the commitment to sobriety seem impossible and out of reach, but it’s the everyday small acts of saying no to your addiction that are the most important things and keep you pushing forward to a life of sobriety.

I try and take a walk each morning as I find it good for the soul and a great way to start the day.
This morning an elderly lady was walking towards me with her dog, she was struggling up a steep hill as she leant on her walking stick and looked incredibly frail as she hauled herself slowly towards the summit.
But she didn’t stop…
Once she had started up the hill she kept going, even though it was obvious she was struggling.
I think there is a lesson in this about the importance of us continuing to put one foot in front of the other and continuing to move forward, even when it feels tough.

The first few months of sobriety can feel like a honeymoon period, they certainly did for me. But what happens when that comes to an end? Here’s how you can navigate an alcohol-free life long-term.
Some people find themselves feeling flat or emotional and don’t know what to do for the best. This can happen anytime after 3-6 months sober, although, some people don’t experience this issue.
In this video I explore the reasons why we can feel flat after stopping drinking and what we can do to ensure we stay on track and never return to drinking again.
The video is taken from my YouTube channel, you can find a link to my channel (and also the book mentioned in the video) by following the link in my profile bio.
Share your own experience of what happened when the honeymoon period of sobriety came to an end. I would love to hear about it and learn how you navigated this tricky period of the journey.

When I was younger there was a guy who used to sell drugs to kids in the local area, he would always offer them a few free samples in order to get them hooked on his product, as a kind of try before you buy strategy, which I am sure landed him plenty of lifetime customers.
I saw this outside a local wine shop a couple of weeks ago and it brought back memories of that same guy.
Maybe I am being harsh and not everyone will agree, but the strategy the wine shop are using seems the same to me.

I am in London recording my audiobook this week and walking around the streets it never fails to shock me how many people are boozing, on every single street there are people guzzling wine and necking pints.
They are tightly crammed into dingy pubs, fighting for space and holding onto their glasses as though their lives depend on it.
Why would you want to dull your sense to views like this?

It is impossible to sew anything to Chernomyrdin.
What to say about Chernomyrdin and me?
These elections turned out to be an ordeal for us. This should never happen again.
This is not the organ that is ready for love.
This ghost … wanders somewhere out there, in Europe, but for some reason it stops here. We’ve had enough strangers.
I would not want me to blame someone there today or not recognize there. This is already a matter for the prime minister.
I always thought why Kosygin walked gloomy, never smiled, although everyone around was smiling and kissing passionately. And then, when I myself became prime minister, I realized how hard it is …
I am ready and will unite. And with everyone. You can’t, excuse the expression, all the time in a splash.
I am ready to invite everyone to the cabinet – both white and red and colorful. If only they had ideas. But they only show their tongue and something else.
I cannot take offense at Zyuganov. And I’m not offended. We don’t take offense at such people.
I’m not a diplomat. And I’m not going to be a diplomat. And the fact that we have reached an agreement is absolutely non-diplomatic. Absolutely. (about the Balkan conflict)
I don’t think that the governor should work in such a way as to harm.
I am not a person who lives on satisfaction.
I won’t say anything, otherwise I’ll say something again.
I just want to say to make it easier for everyone and understand that we are not inventing anything new. We formulate our country.
I will be able to work with Seleznev, but with individual members … I do not see them point-blank for their actions.
I also carry a heavy load. And my voice sat down too. And I didn’t even drink yesterday. And he did nothing else. I would love to do that.

Isn’t Apple going too far
As you know, Apple fans are ready to pay any price for owning products of their favorite brand, even if the price is clearly too high. But who could have believed there would be people willing to pay $ 19 (over 59 shekels) for a microfiber cloth? Writes about this on Monday, November 1, the site Ynet.
Turns Out It’s Possible: The New York Times reports on the incredible popularity of its recently introduced Polishing Cloth. But even if you manage to order this demanded product, the delivery time is striking no less than the sky-high price. Your napkin will only be delivered … in January 2022, 10-12 weeks after ordering.
What’s so special about a 16 sq. cm?
According to the description on the company’s website, “the polishing cloth is made of a soft material that does not scratch and is designed to clean the screens of Apple devices, including nano glass. Safe and effective.”
The manufacturer has detailed the models of devices for which this napkin is suitable. And while this all sounds very impressive, if you’ve previously wiped your iPhone with a regular microfiber cloth or even an eyeglass cloth, your screen is probably in excellent condition without a new Apple product.
However, many users are still willing to fork out: “I just spent $ 4000 on a laptop. What will change another $ 19?” your Macbook Pro.
Walter Gonzales, CEO of Goja, which makes MagicFiber wipes for $ 9 for 6 pieces, admits that only Apple can do this: “You have to give them credit for their insolence (quote from the original) – demand $ 19 for this thing.” …
An Apple employee, who wished to remain anonymous, told the publication that the company was “not surprised” by the increased demand for a napkin. According to her, the product is of very high quality and has a special design and color (gray). The item is custom made, she adds.Apparently, the company has once again managed to understand and meet the needs of its own customers.
Previously, radioactive water was considered a cure for all diseases
Believe it or not, there was a time when the rich and powerful spent small fortunes on radium-fortified distilled water, which was touted as a cure for a variety of diseases, reports kratko-news.com.
Knowing what we now know about radioactive elements and their effect on the human body, most of us would not dare to touch a bottle of radium-containing water, let alone drink it, but at the beginning of the twentieth century, the so-called “Medicine” was in vogue among wealthy secular people.
Raditor and other radioactive elixirs were marketed as harmless drugs that could fight fatigue and treat all types of ailments, from cancer to impotence. Unfortunately, in reality they were slowly killing the very people they were supposed to heal.
Raditor, which is distilled water containing two radioactive substances, radium and mesotorium, is probably the most famous example of radioactive quackery, most likely because it is also the only one that can be unambiguously associated with someone’s death. It was sold in small 2-ounce bottles and was guaranteed to contain at least 1 microcurie of Ra-226 and Ra-228.
Manufacturer of Radithor, Bailey Radium Laboratories of East Orange, New Jersey, claimed that the expensive tonic gives users a boost of energy and cures dozens of illnesses, including anorexia, hysteria, and insomnia. This turned out to be completely false, as the horrific fate of Radithor’s most devoted consumer makes clear.
Eben Byers, a wealthy American socialite and industrialist, began taking Raditor on the advice of his physician. He injured his arm on a party trip after the Harvard-Yale football game and was prescribed Radithor to help with the healing process. In December 1927, he began drinking about three bottles of radium-infused distilled water daily and continued to drink for the next two years.
Convinced that the Raditor deserves praise for his energy and general well-being, Eben Byers could not praise the tonic enough. He sent boxes of him to friends and business partners, made sure his girlfriends always kept him close at hand, and even fed him to his racehorses. It is believed that he drank 1,400 bottles of Radithor before 1930, when his teeth began to fall out.
Eben Byers was in his 50s when the radioactive “energy drink” began to take its toll on his body. It all started with his teeth, but it was only the beginning of the end. In 1931, when Robert Heiner Wynn, a Federal Trade Commission attorney, was sent to interview Byers as part of a case against the manufacturer Radithor, he was shocked by the businessman’s fortune.
According to Wynn’s report, when Eben Byers opened the door of his mansion to greet him inside, his entire lower jaw and chin disappeared, rotted from radium poisoning. The 51-year-old man had only two teeth protruding from a piece of bone below his nose, and his skull even had holes to expose his brain.
“It’s hard to imagine a more horrible experience in a more magnificent setting,” Winn wrote in 1932 Time Magazine.
“Young by years and mentally alert, he could hardly speak. His head was bandaged. He underwent two consecutive surgeries, during which he removed the entire upper jaw, with the exception of two front teeth, and most of the lower jaw.All the remaining bone tissue of his body slowly disintegrated, and holes actually formed in his skull. ”
Eben Byers died in 1932, and it was his death that marked the beginning of the end for Radithor. The industrialist’s own version of the tonic was heavily influenced by Bailey Radium Laboratories, and the subsequent FTC lawsuit was the final nail in the coffin. Despite the setbacks, Radithor still had its share of supporters, even among medical professionals, but the government’s order to “stop and abstain” fortunately ended its production as a “healthy” tonic.
The
Radithor was produced from 1918 to 1928, and apart from the death of Eben Byers, the extent of consumer damage is largely unknown. Experts believe that the fact that it was an expensive cure for all diseases limited the damage it could do, as only the wealthy could afford to consume it in large quantities.
When Eben Byers died, he was placed in a lead-lined coffin to block radiation from escaping from his bones, and in 1965, when a scientist at MIT exhumed his remains to measure their radioactivity, he was surprised by the level of radiation.
Robley Evans, an expert on the measurement and mathematical modeling of radioactivity in the human body, calculated that Byers’ bones had a radioactivity of about 100,000 becquerels when he was buried, and since the half-life of radium is 1,600 years, the scientist calculated that the exhumed remains would have the same the level of radioactivity as before.
