Worms itchy bum. Pinworm Infection: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment for Itchy Bum
What are pinworms and how do they cause an itchy bum. How can you identify a pinworm infection. What are the most effective treatments for pinworms. How to prevent pinworm reinfection in your household. Why are children more susceptible to pinworm infections. What is the life cycle of a pinworm. How long does it take for pinworm treatment to work.
Understanding Pinworm Infections: The Common Culprit Behind Itchy Bums
Pinworm infections, also known as threadworm or Enterobius vermicularis, are the most prevalent type of human worm infection in Australia. Despite their unpleasant reputation, these parasites are relatively harmless and can be treated easily. However, they can cause significant discomfort, particularly in children.
Pinworms are tiny, yellowish-white worms measuring about one centimeter in length. They require a human host to survive and complete their life cycle. While anyone can contract pinworms, children are more susceptible due to their tendency to put their fingers in their mouths, facilitating the ingestion of pinworm eggs.
Why are pinworm infections more common in children?
Children’s habits and behaviors make them more prone to pinworm infections. They often play in areas where pinworm eggs may be present, such as sandboxes or playgrounds. Additionally, children are more likely to:
- Put their hands in their mouths without washing them first
- Share toys or other objects that may be contaminated with pinworm eggs
- Have close physical contact with other children, increasing the risk of transmission
- Scratch their bottoms more frequently, potentially spreading eggs to their hands and surroundings
The Life Cycle of Pinworms: From Ingestion to Infestation
Understanding the life cycle of pinworms is crucial for effective prevention and treatment. The process begins when pinworm eggs are ingested, typically through contaminated hands, food, bedding, or clothing.
How do pinworms develop inside the human body?
Once ingested, the pinworm eggs follow a specific developmental path:
- The eggs travel to the intestines, where they hatch and mature
- Adult female pinworms migrate to the anus, usually at night
- Females lay eggs on the skin surrounding the anus
- The female pinworm dies after laying eggs
- Eggs cause itching, leading to scratching and potential reinfection
This cycle takes approximately four weeks from ingestion to egg-laying. Pinworm eggs can survive for several days in suitable conditions, increasing the risk of transmission to others or reinfection of the same individual.
Recognizing Pinworm Infection: Key Symptoms to Watch For
While some pinworm infections may be asymptomatic, several signs can indicate their presence. Being aware of these symptoms can help in early detection and treatment.
What are the most common symptoms of a pinworm infection?
The primary symptoms of pinworm infection include:
- Intense itching around the anus, especially at night
- Restlessness and difficulty sleeping due to itching
- Visible worms in stool or around the anal area
- Irritability and behavioral changes
- Reduced appetite
- Mild abdominal discomfort
- In females, possible vaginal inflammation
It’s important to note that the severity of symptoms can vary from person to person. Some individuals may experience all of these symptoms, while others may have only one or two.
Diagnosing Pinworm Infections: The Tape Test and Beyond
If you suspect a pinworm infection, it’s crucial to get a proper diagnosis before starting treatment. Healthcare providers have several methods to confirm the presence of pinworms.
How do doctors diagnose pinworm infections?
The most common diagnostic method for pinworm infections is the tape test. This simple procedure involves:
- Pressing a piece of clear adhesive tape against the skin around the anus
- Performing the test first thing in the morning before bathing or using the toilet
- Repeating the process for three consecutive days
- Submitting the tape samples to a laboratory for microscopic examination
In some cases, doctors may also perform a visual inspection of the anal area or request a stool sample for analysis. These methods can help confirm the presence of adult worms or eggs.
Effective Treatment Strategies for Pinworm Infections
Once a pinworm infection is diagnosed, prompt treatment is essential to eliminate the parasites and prevent reinfection. Several medication options are available, and treatment typically involves all household members, even those without symptoms.
What medications are used to treat pinworm infections?
Common treatments for pinworm infections include:
- Mebendazole: An anthelmintic medication that paralyzes the worms
- Albendazole: Another anthelmintic that works similarly to mebendazole
- Pyrantel pamoate: An over-the-counter option that paralyzes the worms, allowing the body to expel them
Treatment usually involves two doses of medication, given two weeks apart. This schedule ensures that any newly hatched worms are eliminated. It’s important to consult with a healthcare provider before starting any treatment, especially for pregnant women, young children, or individuals with certain medical conditions.
Preventing Pinworm Reinfection: Essential Hygiene Practices
Successful treatment of pinworm infections requires more than just medication. Implementing strict hygiene practices is crucial to prevent reinfection and stop the spread of pinworms to others in the household.
How can you prevent pinworm reinfection in your home?
To minimize the risk of reinfection, follow these guidelines:
- Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water, especially after using the bathroom and before eating
- Keep fingernails short and clean
- Avoid scratching the anal area and discourage children from doing so
- Change and wash bedding, pajamas, and underwear in hot water daily during treatment
- Vacuum carpets and upholstered furniture regularly
- Clean bathroom surfaces, including toilet seats, with disinfectant daily
- Ensure all family members are treated simultaneously, even if asymptomatic
Maintaining these practices for at least two weeks after treatment can significantly reduce the risk of reinfection and help break the cycle of pinworm transmission within the household.
Long-Term Management of Pinworm Infections: Beyond Initial Treatment
While pinworm infections are generally easy to treat, some individuals may experience recurring infections. Understanding long-term management strategies can help prevent future outbreaks and maintain a pinworm-free environment.
How can you manage pinworm infections in the long term?
Long-term management of pinworm infections involves:
- Maintaining good hygiene practices even after treatment
- Regularly inspecting children for signs of reinfection
- Washing bedding and clothing in hot water weekly
- Educating family members about pinworm transmission and prevention
- Considering periodic preventive treatment in high-risk environments
- Addressing any underlying conditions that may increase susceptibility to infections
By implementing these strategies, you can significantly reduce the likelihood of recurring pinworm infections and maintain a healthier household environment.
Pinworms in Special Populations: Considerations for Pregnant Women and Infants
While pinworm infections are generally harmless, special considerations may be necessary for certain populations, such as pregnant women and infants. Understanding the risks and appropriate treatment options for these groups is crucial for safe and effective management.
Are pinworm treatments safe for pregnant women and infants?
Treatment considerations for special populations include:
- Pregnant women: Consult a healthcare provider before starting any treatment
- Infants: Treatment may be necessary but should be supervised by a pediatrician
- Breastfeeding mothers: Some medications may be safe, but consult a doctor first
- Individuals with compromised immune systems: May require specialized treatment plans
In these cases, healthcare providers may recommend alternative treatments or modified dosing schedules to ensure safety and efficacy. It’s essential to disclose all relevant medical information to your doctor when seeking treatment for pinworm infections.
Understanding pinworm infections, their symptoms, and treatment options is crucial for effective management and prevention. By implementing proper hygiene practices and following medical advice, you can successfully combat these pesky parasites and maintain a healthy, itch-free household. Remember, while pinworm infections can be uncomfortable, they are generally harmless and easily treatable with the right approach.

The most common type of human worm infection in Australia is pinworm. Other names for this parasite include threadworm and Enterobius vermicularis, or the common term ‘worms’.
Children are more likely to pick up an infection than an adult, probably because of children’s tendency to put their fingers in their mouths. However, once a child is infected, other members of their household are also likely to get pinworms unless strict hygiene practices are observed. Despite the unsavoury reputation, a pinworm infection is relatively harmless and can be easily treated.
Worms require a host in order to survive. In the case of pinworms, the human acts as the host.
Life cycle of a pinworm
Infections begin when pinworm eggs are eaten, usually directly through contaminated hands or indirectly through contaminated food, bedding, clothing or other articles. The eggs then travel to the gut where they hatch and mature. A grown pinworm is yellowish white, slender and about one centimetre long.
Around four weeks after ingestion, the adult female moves down the gut and exits the body via the anus to lay a batch of eggs on the surrounding skin, often at night. The worm then dies, her reproductive mission complete.
The eggs may cause intense itching, especially at night, so children can easily reinfect themselves by scratching the anus and scraping eggs under their fingernails. These eggs can then be transferred to the mouth and the whole life cycle of the pinworm starts again. The eggs can survive for several days in the right conditions.
Symptoms of pinworm
Pinworm infections often produce no symptoms but, when they occur, symptoms can include:
- itchy bottom, especially at night
- reduced appetite
- feeling mildly unwell
- inflammation of the vagina
- adult worms can sometimes be seen in the faeces, and eggs may be seen clinging to the skin around the anus
- irritability and behavioural changes.
Treatment for pinworm infection
Your doctor might want to perform a test to make sure the problem is a pinworm infection. This is done by collecting the eggs from around the anus using sticky tape first thing in the morning. Medication is available to kill the worms and this is usually prescribed for the person who is infected and all other members of the household. Usually, one dose is followed up with a second dose two weeks later to take care of any surviving worms.
Although the medication is safe for humans, you should consult your doctor or chemist before commencing treatment.
Preventing another pinworm infection
Suggestions to prevent another infection during treatment include:
- All family members should wash their hands and nails thoroughly with soap and water, particularly after going to the toilet, after changing nappies, before preparing food and before eating food.
- Discourage scratching of the bottom and nail biting.
- Keep fingernails short.
- Daily bathing and showering.
- Wash all sheets, bed linen, pyjamas and sleepwear in hot water to kill any pinworm eggs.
- Clean the toilet seat regularly with disinfectant (remember to store the disinfectant out of reach of children).
- All family members should take the medication, regardless of whether they are experiencing symptoms.
Where to get help
Things to remember
- Pinworm is the most common worm infection in Australia.
- The major symptom is an itchy bottom, particularly at night.
- Treatment usually includes a two-dose course of medication that should be taken by all members of the affected household.
- If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.

Threadworms – NHS
Threadworms (pinworms) are tiny worms in your poo. They’re common in children and spread easily. You can treat them without seeing a GP.
Check if it’s threadworms
You can spot worms in your poo. They look like pieces of white thread.
You might also see them around your child’s bottom (anus). The worms usually come out at night while your child is sleeping.

Other symptoms can include:
- extreme itching around the anus or vagina, particularly at night
- irritability and waking up during the night
Less common signs of worms include:
- weight loss
- wetting the bed
- irritated skin around the anus
A pharmacist can help with threadworms
You can buy medicine (mebendazole) for threadworms from pharmacies. This is usually a chewable tablet or liquid you swallow.
Treat everyone in your household, even if they do not have symptoms.
Tell the pharmacist if you need to treat a child under 2, or if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding. Treatment might not be suitable and you may need to speak to a GP.
Things you should do at home
Medicine kills the threadworms, but it does not kill the eggs. Eggs can live for up to 2 weeks outside the body.
There are things you can do to stop becoming infected again.
Do
wash hands and scrub under fingernails – particularly before eating, after using the toilet or changing nappies
encourage children to wash hands regularly
bathe or shower every morning
rinse toothbrushes before using them
keep fingernails short
wash sleepwear, sheets, towels and soft toys (at a hot temperature)
disinfect kitchen and bathroom surfaces
vacuum and dust with a damp cloth
make sure children wear underwear at night – change it in the morning
Don’t
do not shake clothing or bedding, to prevent eggs landing on other surfaces
do not share towels or flannels
do not bite nails or suck thumbs and fingers
Nursery, school and work
If you or your child has threadworms there’s no need to stay off nursery, school or work.
How threadworms spread
Threadworms spread when their eggs are swallowed. They lay eggs around your bottom (anus), which make it itchy. The eggs get stuck on your fingers when you scratch. They can then pass on to anything you touch, including:
- clothes
- toys
- toothbrushes
- kitchen or bathroom surfaces
- bedding
- food
- pets
Eggs can pass to other people when they touch these surfaces and then touch their mouth. They take around 2 weeks to hatch.
Children can get threadworms again after they’ve been treated for them if they get the eggs in their mouth. This is why it’s important to encourage children to wash their hands regularly.

Pinworms | Caring for kids
What are pinworms?
Pinworms are tiny, white, thread-like worms that live in the rectum. The worms crawl out of the anus (bum) at night and lay their eggs on nearby skin. Pinworms can be uncomfortable but they do not cause disease. People who have pinworms aren’t dirty. Children can get pinworms no matter how often they take a bath.
How common are pinworms?
They are very common in children and spread easily among children in child care.
How do pinworms spread?
Directly: An infected person who scratches the itchy area can get pinworm eggs on the fingers or under the fingernails. If that person touches another person’s mouth, they will spread pinworms.
Indirectly: Eggs can get from an infected person onto objects, such as toys, toilet seats or baths, clothes or bedding. By sharing these objects, other people can pick up the eggs on their hands and then put them into their mouth.
Eggs can live for up to 2 weeks outside the body, on clothing, bedding or other objects.
What are the symptoms?
Usually children with pinworms have no symptoms. Some children get very itchy around the anus and vagina, especially at night. If the infection is bad, your child can lose sleep and become cranky.
What can parents do?
If you think your child has pinworms, contact your doctor. A simple test will check for pinworms. They can be treated with an oral medication that can take up to 2 weeks to work. Itching can continue for at least a week after taking the medication. Your doctor may give your child a second dose after 2 weeks.
Try to keep your child from scratching. Bathing your child in the morning will help get rid of many of the eggs.
How can I prevent pinworms from spreading?
Pinworms can come back if your child comes into contact with pinworm eggs again. They can stay alive in your home for up to 2 to 3 weeks.
- Make sure everyone in your family washes their hands carefully after going to the toilet, changing diapers, and before preparing or eating food.
- Wash your bed linens and clothes. Don’t shake them because this can scatter the eggs.
- Keep everyone’s fingernails short and avoid nail-biting.
- The eggs are sensitive to sunlight. Open blinds or curtains in bedrooms during the day when your child isn’t sleeping.

What are pinworms?
Pinworms (Enterobius vermicularis) are small roundworms that live in the lower digestive tract of humans. They are also called threadworms, enterobiasis and oxyuriasis. Infestation or infection with pinworms is most common amongst school-aged children, in some communities affecting up to two-thirds of children aged 5-10 years.
What are the symptoms of pinworm infestation?
The most common symptom caused by pinworms is itching around the anus, also called pruritus ani. The itchiness tends to be worse at night and can cause trouble sleeping. The itching is caused by an inflammatory reaction to the adult worm and eggs on the skin.
The adult worms sometimes migrate to the vagina instead of returning to the bowel. This may result in a itchy vaginitis with a mucous or blood-stained discharge.
Scratching may lead to bacterial infection (impetigo) with crusting and oozing.
Severe infestations very rarely result in abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting.
Why are pinworms so itchy at night?
At night, the female adult pinworm leaves the anus to deposit eggs onto the skin around the anus. After exposure to the air, the microscopic eggs mature and are typically infectious within a couple of hours. They can survive for up to 2 weeks outside the body.
How do pinworms spread?
The main way that pinworms spread is through swallowing the eggs. When someone with pinworm scratches their anus, the eggs get lodged beneath their fingernails, and are then deposited on clothing and furniture. Uninfested individuals can come in contact with pinworm eggs and ingest them unknowingly. Infested individuals continue to ingest the eggs (auto-infection).
Other family members are at particular risk of pinworm infestation.
How is pinworm infection confirmed?
The adult worms can sometimes be seen with the naked eye, as thin, white, wriggling threads about 1-2 cm in length. Look at the anus at night or at the surface of bowel motions.
A ‘sticky tape’ test involves sticking a piece of clear adhesive tape to the crease of the anus, and is best carried out at night. The tape should catch any pinworm eggs, which can confirmed by looking at the tape under the microscope.
Pinworms
How are pinworms treated?
It is important to prevent the spread of infection by maintaining good hygiene (hand washing with soap and water, keeping fingernails short, taking a shower or bath daily), washing linens and clothes, and trying not to scratch in order to prevent contact with the pinworm eggs.
Mild infections can clear by themselves. However, pinworm infection is usually treated with albendazole or mebendazole. A single dose has a relatively high cure rate. A second dose two weeks later helps to prevent recurrence of the infection. After each dose bed linen should be changed and the bedroom vacuumed.
Because re-infection is common, it is sensible to treat the whole family at the same time to prevent recurrence and spread of infection to others.
90,000 6 reasons why your butt itches
And what to do about it.
When itching starts in the ass, it is very difficult to resist the temptation to scratch it. However, this not only does not solve the problem, but can also greatly spoil your image in a decent society, writes Men’s Health.
“Anal itching is a fairly common problem that can get pissed off,” says Mitchell Burstein, specialist in bowel surgery. “Some people start itching even in their sleep, which only exacerbates the situation. ”
Anal itching is of two types – “primary”, when the anus itches for no obvious reason, and “secondary”, when it is caused by some kind of anorectal disease (hemorrhoids, anal fissures, bacterial infections, etc.).
Getty
Here are 6 possible reasons for this unpleasant phenomenon:
1. You are not wiping thoroughly enough.
Getty Images / diane39
If you do not pay enough attention to hygiene, fecal particles remain in the anus, which can cause itching. You may not be wiping thoroughly enough. Or you drink too much coffee, which relaxes your anal muscles and can cause stool to leak.
The solution to this problem is simple: take a shower and thoroughly rinse your anus. Good means with soap. Just use the wrong soap with which you wash your face and body. A “mild” soap works best.
2. You wipe yourself too thoroughly.
Getty Images / Tijana Stepic / EyeEm
Yes, anal itching can be caused by too much wiping.
The skin around the anus is very sensitive. Rubbing it too hard with dry toilet paper can damage it and cause itching. And some types of paper crumble, and tiny particles of paper in the skin can also cause scabies.
If you think this is the case, try an alternative, such as a bidet, if you have one. If not, wash yourself in the shower.
3. Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
Getty Images / Image Source
Another possible cause of anal itching is STDs, especially herpes, gonorrhea and chlamydia. These diseases are quite common, especially among those who have anal sex without a condom.
They cause inflammation of the rectal region, often accompanied by itching. Warts can also occur with herpes and HPV, which can cause additional itching and burning. All of these STDs often lead to rashes, discharge and pain in the penis and scrotum.
If you suspect an STD, see your doctor. When you are cured of the disease, you will get rid of itching.
4.Eczema.

Sometimes scabies in pants can be the result of eczema, a skin condition characterized by a red, scaly rash and persistent itching.
The exact cause of eczema is unknown, but it is associated with an overreaction of the immune system and may be due to allergies and asthma. Sometimes eczema appears due to external factors such as weather changes or contact with cleaning agents.
When stressed, eczema may worsen.Stress activates inflammatory processes in the body, and this often turns into bouts of scabies.
Eczema is usually treated with topical steroid ointments. They quickly relieve itching by acting directly on inflammation.
5. Fungal infections.
Getty Images / KATERYNA KON / SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY
Fungi are constantly present on our skin, but they usually prefer warm and humid places that are not ventilated by air. For example, underwear.
As a rule, the body successfully copes with foreign organisms, but if you have recently been ill, are experiencing severe stress or excessive sweating, the fungus may linger. In this case, redness and inflammation forms around the anus, as with eczema.
See your doctor for a topical or oral antifungal treatment. We also recommend changing your underwear for something more “breathable”, because a sweaty butt is a real breeding ground for germs and bacteria.
6. Washing powder.

If you have an itchy rash on your butt, your laundry detergent may be the culprit.Washing powders and liquids contain irritants that can cause dermatitis. This is especially true in places where clothes become damp with sweat – for example, in the groin.
To protect against contact dermatitis, buy detergents without fragrances or dyes.
What to do with anal itching?
Whatever the cause, if itching lasts more than two weeks and all else fails, see your doctor.
There is always the possibility that itching is a symptom of something more serious, such as anal cancer. However, this probability is very small – this cancer, as a rule, causes bleeding, and not just itching.
Yes, this cup will blow you!

External crack.
Anal fissure. Conservative treatment of anal fissure
Anal fissure is a violation of the integrity of the mucous membranes of the anal canal in the form of cracks or ulcers. The disease in terms of prevalence among all pathologies of the colon takes the 3rd place after hemorrhoids and colitis.
Often, cracks in the anus are combined with internal hemorrhoids, which requires special treatment. The most common cause of anal fissures is frequent constipation.
This is a pretty amazing operation, and for those who have had severe pain after every bowel movement – sometimes for months or years – this can be a godsend. Lateral internal sphincterotomy can often be performed under local anesthesia; however, in some cases this is best done in a hospital under general or spinal anesthetic. The choice depends on the particular anatomy of the patient and the relationship between the patient and the surgeon and their experience.
Most patients with fissure in the anu will never need surgery. Simple conservative measures, such as recommended changes in diet and hygiene, will be enough to get rid of this problem. Chronic itchy butt can be a socially embarrassing condition, but there is really a lot you can do to get rid of it quickly. Do not neglect it casually, understand the reasons for its healing.
Views
There are acute and chronic anal fissures. If left untreated, an acute fissure becomes chronic or can cause serious infection of the intestines and peritoneum.
- Sharp. The duration of the disease is up to 6 weeks. Pain and discomfort occur only after bowel movement, and their duration does not exceed 20 minutes. Blood, strong discharge is possible. It has a pronounced spasm of the sphincter muscles.
- Chronic. The duration of the course of the disease is more than 6 weeks. Pain appears most often after bowel movements, physical exertion, and dieting. No pronounced muscle spasm is observed. Blood can be seen in the stool. There are periods of exacerbation and remission.

The itching sensation may occur only after a bowel movement or may persist depending on the causes of the itchy bottom. You may feel irritation, burning, or soreness. The skin around the itchy hole may turn red. All of these anal itching problems can be relieved and removed with home remedies.
What Causes Your Butt Itching And How To Stop It?
There are a number of causes of anal itching. Do not cleanse the anal area enough so that after a bowel movement may cause infections or too much cleaning may cause skin irritation. Either due to diarrhea or in old age, some faecal elements can leak from time to time and cause irritation to the skin around the anus.Constipation or Hemorrhoids – Straining during a bowel movement due to constipation can cause temporary skin irritation and can cause hemorrhoids. An anal fissure is an elongated ulcer in a fissure or anal canal. cause itching. Wormworms – These tiny worms may have developed inside the stomach from eating unhygienic food, can live inside the intestines and lay eggs when the anus is opened, causing irritation.
- Lack of proper hygiene.
- So be careful and make sure you don’t itch.
- Loose faeces.
There may be many other specific causes related to your particular situation, but most of these causes of anal itching are basic and can be treated naturally at home.
It is impossible to visually notice the anal fissure. During palpation with chronic anal fissures, you can feel a small tubercle.
At the initial stage, signs of cracks may be absent, and the disease manifests itself only as unpleasant painful sensations that suddenly arise and pass.
Although rectal cancer can also cause anal itching, you may have other symptoms such as bleeding and weight loss, etc. check it with your doctor if you have any doubts. But most of the time, don’t worry too much, just put your act together to combat a condition that can be easily managed at home.
Here’s what you can do at home to heal anal itching
Basic precautions, habit changes, and some simple remedies can help you heal anal itching. Clean to stop anal itching. Regardless of the methods you use to cleanse your rectum after you have completed bowel movements, make sure you do it correctly. Practice good hygiene by gently cleaning the anus without leaving any traces of feces. Avoid harsh and aggressive wiping that could damage the sensitive skin of your rectum.
Reasons for the appearance of
Anal fissures in men and women occur due to damage to the mucous membranes, which can occur as a result of:
- Fecal injuries.
- Frequent constipation.
- Childbirth.
- Strenuous exercise.
- Damage to mucous membranes by enemas and various medical instruments.
- Unconventional sex.
Very often anal fissures appear after childbirth, as a woman has to push hard. Diseases of the digestive and vascular systems increase the risk of rectal pathologies in women and men.
Do not use any chemicals to wipe your bottom. Clothes are comfortable under the clothes. Tight underwear can irritate the skin, especially in wet conditions. Wear soft, comfortable underwear. Sometimes, the detergent used to wash your underwear may not be compatible with your skin. Any traces of detergent on clothing will cause skin rashes. So if your butt is itchy, and other parts of your body also have a skin rash, then it’s most likely a cleanser. Switch to another brand and see if you improve.
Diagnostics
In most cases, it is enough for the doctor to conduct a visual examination and question the patient in order to make a diagnosis. In order to confirm it, you may need to go through the following procedures:
What you need to know about the treatment of an anal fissure
An itchy sensation usually tempts you to scratch the affected area for instant relief. A scratch will irritate the skin further and you will be in a sticky cycle of scratching and itching. Avoid all temptations to scratch. Apply natural ointments or creams to soothe itching. Aloe vera gel may be a good option, but use what you have and what suits your particular case.Do not use buttercream to avoid irritation around it.
Anal Fissure Treatment
They can give you instant relief from anal itching, but will affect the sensitive skin of the anus in the long term. Dust Anus area with powder for children. Which suites are right for you and for you. To dry your anus and anal canal, you can gently cleanse the area with baby powder. Take the powder on a cotton ball and hang up the area.
- Anoscopy.
- Irrigoscopy.
- Rectoscopy.
What should a patient do?
If you suspect anal fissures, you should seek qualified help and in no case self-medicate.
There are many diseases that have similar symptoms, so only a doctor can make a correct diagnosis.
Anal fissure surgery
You can do this every time you visit the toilet for a bowel movement or just make it a habit to do it twice a day. One after the bath and one before going to bed. Taking a shower early in the morning is a good practice of hygiene from all sides. Not only do you feel refreshed after a shower, you get rid of the wastes that are produced by our skin.
If you have a skin condition such as psoriasis, eczema, anal fissure or fungal infection, then treat them. If, after taking all of the above precautions and remedies, if your anal itching is still there, see your doctor.
The following ointments are recommended:
- Levomekol.
- Solcoseryl.
- Bepanten.
- Relief.
- Proctosan.
In case of severe pain, pills and injections may be included in therapy. So, blockade is used to relieve muscle spasm and eliminate pain. The most popular is novocainic alcohol, which is injected under the base of the crack. This pain reliever gives immediate results and is indicated only for acute pain. The therapy also includes laxatives and anti-inflammatory drugs.
An anal fissure is a small, painful tear on the skin that lines the anus. Like hemorrhoids, anal fissure can occur when dry, hard, or large stools pass, with constipation or prolonged bowel tension, with chronic diarrhea, or during childbirth. Anal sex can also cause anal fissures. We have treated thousands of anal fissure patients without surgery. They are often misdiagnosed and inadequately treated with topical steroids. Many of these patients told other doctors that they would need surgery.
The healing time of cracks depends on the severity of the disease and the presence of complications. Usually, the medicine gives a positive result after a week of use. On average, fissure healing takes about 3 weeks – and in 70% of cases, excision is not required.
How do I know if I have a crack?
Fissures are most often located posteriorly on the side of the caudal bone of the anus. There may be a related tag called the sentry stack. Symptoms of anal fissures include pain during a bowel movement, pain after a bowel movement lasting up to several hours, and bleeding. There may be a visible crack and an associated skin tag called the sentinel stack. The pain can be sharp and severe, often described as like passing glass. Babies can be prone to anal fissures, as well as women who have just given birth or those with Crohn’s disease.
If the mucosal defect does not respond to therapy and the crack does not heal, you can get rid of it surgically – removal is carried out using excision or sphincterotomy.
Rehabilitation after excision takes 5-7 days.
Traditional methods
In traditional medicine, there are several ways that can alleviate the condition. They can be used if the cracks are without blood:
Anal fissures are also found in the elderly and the elderly.Self-help measures include warm water baths, stool softeners, and lubrication. Fissures are often associated with internal hemorrhoids. The combination of hemorrhoids and fissures can be very painful. Our treatment can lead to very rapid improvement. We are often told that this is a “miracle”.
The internal sphincter is a smooth muscle like the heart. The internal sphincter helps in preservation. He lies under the crack and in response to irritation a spasm enters, resulting in severe pain. Surgery for fissures was often recommended in the past. This is not necessary and can lead to incontinence. We found that most cracks respond to our non-surgical treatment. Don’t settle for a possible unnecessary operation until you try it.
Flax helps with cracks in the anus.
It is used both internally and externally. Sea buckthorn oil has a similar effect. Various decoctions of medicinal herbs are recommended, but chamomile and nettle give the best results.
Anal fissure surgery – excision surgery
Relaxation of the internal sphincter allows the fissure to heal.Your doctor may recommend topical medications such as nitroglycerin or diltiazam, which relax the smooth muscles. Botox can sometimes be administered for difficult cases. These types of fissure treatments reduce the pressure of the rectal muscle, making it easier for the fissure to heal.
Ligation of associated hemorrhoids also reduces rectal pressure, which helps in fracture healing. The ointment lasts for at least 8 weeks to prevent recurrence of the crack. Our doctors have high quality customized compound ointments that they can prescribe. When the body tries to heal a crack, it can form a lump around the outside of the crack, the sentinel heap. These tags can be cut, which can be done under local anesthesia in the office.
Nutrition and Diet
During treatment, it is necessary to refuse salty, smoked and fried foods. The diet should be cereals, lean meats, vegetables and fruits, broths.
Carbonated drinks, alcohol and coffee must be discarded.
High-calorie confectionery, fast food, and spicy foods will not be beneficial. In the quality of food processing, preference should be given to cooking and steaming food. If you do not change the diet, then no remedy for cracks can provide the proper help.
In the rarest and most severe cases of anal fissures, surgery may be required, which involves contracting the underlying muscle. This operation is called an internal sphincterotomy. This is done in the operating room under general anesthesia. The patient should be aware that there is a small chance of incontinence with surgery, but this usually improves over time.
Fissures are small columnar fissures in the skin or mucous membranes. As a result of the lack of elasticity of the skin and mucous membranes, these cracks can easily occur. Normally, scratches heal on their own. However, healing occurs in an extremely slow healing process. Sometimes, however, the odds can also lead to unpleasant and painful symptoms, so treatment, even without acute complaints, makes sense. In addition, frequent and increased cracking can have serious health reasons, which in some cases makes medical brightening appropriate.
Exercises
It is advisable that a specialist appointed gymnastics for cracks. At home, you can do the following exercises:
- Lie on your back, draw in your stomach while inhaling and push it out while exhaling.
- Raise your legs and cross them, increasing the angle of inclination.
- Any abdominal exercise.
- Contract and unclench the muscles of the buttocks.
Prevention
Prevention of colon diseases includes:
Cracks are small cracks that can penetrate all layers of the skin.Such cracks can also affect the mucous membranes. Fissures in the mucous membranes occur primarily in the corners of the mouth, anus, or intestines. When the mucous membranes are affected, these fractures are also called fissures. Rarely, the chest or nipples are prone to crushing. In these cases, they are usually a continuation of breastfeeding.
Legs and corners of the mouth appear most often. Small columnar tears can range from a few millimeters to several centimeters. They are always wider on their surface than inside fabric or leather. In extreme cases, these cracks can penetrate into the deep layers of the skin or even into the bones.
- Normalization of nutrition and prevention of constipation.
- Moderate physical activity.
- Timely treat hemorrhoids and other bowel diseases.
- Correct management of childbirth during pregnancy.
- Quitting bad habits.
What is the danger of the disease?
If untreated or self-medicated, an anal fissure can cause:
- Inflammation of the rectum.
- Paraproctitis.
- Insufficiency of the sphincter.
- Cicatricial narrowing.
- Severe bleeding and pain.
The consequences of anal fissures are negative. A person not only will not be able to lead the usual way of life, but also risks getting an acute inflammation of the intestines with the development of purulent processes. With serious inflammatory processes, it is almost impossible to remove the pain syndrome, the temperature rises.
It is important that when cracks appear near the anus, or inside it, immediately seek help in order to prevent any serious complications that may arise.
Anal fissure is considered one of the most common diseases in proctology. According to statistics, one in three faces this pathology, regardless of age and social status. Often, a rectal fissure is diagnosed even in children, but most often the fair sex suffers from this ailment, which is associated with the anatomical features of the female body.
A rectal fissure is a rupture of the mucous membrane in the anus. The damage occurs in a tissue called adenormus. It lines the anus and contains a large number of sensitive nerve endings and small blood vessels. That is why anal fissures are very painful and their appearance is often accompanied by bleeding.
In the acute development of the disease, the crack looks like a linear rupture; in the chronic course of the disease, due to inflammation and tissue edema, the rupture takes the form of a deep ulcer. The tears most often appear in the front or back of the anus and range in length from a few millimeters to 2 cm.A fissure is considered “acute” if the disease lasts no more than 6 weeks. An anal fissure that takes longer to heal is considered chronic.
Causes of the development of the disease
Specialists proctologists identify several main causes of anal fissures:
- Mechanical injury.
May occur due to the passage of compacted feces with constipation or as a result of a foreign body entering the rectum.Sometimes anal intercourse is the cause of the injury. - Inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
The risk of a crack is significantly increased with cholecystitis, gastritis. Often or diarrhea, which causes irritation of the mucous membranes and bacterial contamination of erosions. - Hemorrhoids.
Hemorrhoids are easily injured during defecation, and due to circulatory disorders and blood stagnation, the walls of the anus are significantly weakened, which leads to the appearance of anal fissures. - Pregnancy and childbirth.
During pregnancy, the uterus constantly presses on the perineum. This disrupts the nutrition of the mucous membrane and leads to increased vulnerability of the rectum. - Pathological spasm of the rectum.
Prolonged increased rectal tone leads to exsanguination and disturbance of innervation. In this case, the disease takes on a chronic form. - Sedentary lifestyle or vice versa, excessive physical activity
- Weakening of the pelvic muscles
- Frequent and uncontrolled use of laxatives
In children, most often the appearance of an anal fissure is associated with a disease of helminthic invasions (helminthiasis). The worms lay eggs in the anus, causing severe itching, and the lower intestine becomes inflamed and swollen. A child, scratching the anal area, can injure the mucous membrane, and with the act of defecation, the gap will worsen.
Symptoms
The main symptom of anal fissure is severe pain in the anus, which appears during bowel movement and continues after a bowel movement for some time. With a chronic anal fissure, the pain is less intense, but more prolonged and can occur not only during bowel movements, but also during prolonged sitting.
Another symptom of both acute and chronic anal fissure is bleeding from the anus. The bleeding is usually light, the blood is scarlet. Its appearance is due to the fact that dense feces injure damaged parts of the intestine.
Difficulty in defecation caused by intense pain is a characteristic symptom of the disease. The pain during the passage of hardened stool can be so severe that an anal spasm can reflexively occur. In the chronic course of the disease, there may be a fear of defecation, which only complicates the patient’s position due to constipation. In advanced cases, when emptying the intestines, pus may be released from the anus.
Painful sensations give a person significant discomfort, cause irritability and insomnia. Pain in the perineum and sacrum can often occur, leading to urinary problems.
Treatment – basic methods
Treatment of anal fissure consists of a whole range of measures. This is adherence to a special diet, the use of medications (suppositories, ointments) and, if necessary, surgical treatment. The purpose of the therapeutic measures carried out is:
- Elimination of pain
- Relief from constipation or elimination of chronic diarrhea
- Removal of inflammation and healing of mucous membranes
- Treatment of diseases associated with pathology
In order to establish regular soft stools, the patient is prescribed a dairy-vegetable diet.Vegetables and fruits contain fiber, which increases intestinal motility and helps the body get rid of waste products. Dairy products containing beneficial lactobacilli help restore normal microflora. Flour, spicy, salty, fried foods and alcoholic beverages are excluded from the diet.
Patients are advised to eat vegetable salads seasoned with vegetable oil for breakfast. This will make the gastrointestinal tract work actively and relieve constipation. During the day, it is useful to eat apples, carrots, boiled beets, dried apricots, and prunes. For constipation, ordinary fish oil helps, in addition, doctors advise taking drugs containing lactulose (dufalak, prelaxan) and probiotics (lactobacterin, linex).
Treatment of rectal fissures with drugs
Pain relievers and anti-inflammatory drugs (, ointments and gels) are effective in conservative treatment of cracks. Microclysters with a weak antiseptic solution and warm sitz baths give a positive result. It is recommended to add decoctions of herbs to warm water: chamomile, yarrow, sage.
Spasm of the sphincter helps relieve local anesthetics () and antispasmodics (No-shpa). The inflammation is perfectly removed by suppositories with sea buckthorn, methyluracil or benzocaine, rectal suppositories Hepatrombin G. To facilitate defecation and healing of the mucous membrane, suppositories with glycerin are prescribed. In most cases, drug therapy is beneficial.
But in some cases, in the chronic course of the disease, which is accompanied by the growth of scar tissue, more radical measures are needed. In these cases, doctors are forced to resort to surgical methods of treatment.
Surgical treatment of anal fissure – excision surgery
In the case of a persistent chronic course of the disease and with the formation of a significant defect in the mucous membrane, they resort to the classical surgical operation, which is performed under general anesthesia. Its essence consists in dissection of the sphincter and excision of the crack, followed by suturing of the wound. After the operation, anti-inflammatory therapy is carried out for a month. At the same time, it is imperative to follow a diet that helps to achieve soft stools and eliminate constipation.
In milder cases, the operation to eliminate the anal fissure is carried out using modern minimally invasive methods, which include the cryodestruction procedure and the operation with a surgical laser. These are bloodless operations that do not require general anesthesia and a long recovery period in the hospital. Let’s take a closer look at how the laser treatment procedure is performed.
This operation involves excision of the crack with a semiconductor surgical laser. The operation is performed under local anesthesia. A rectal speculum and a tampon soaked in an antiseptic are introduced into the patient’s anus. The crack is grasped with a clamp and excised using a laser. When spasms of the sphincter appear, a sphincterotomy is performed.
Dissection of the muscle fibers of the anus excludes the occurrence of relapses. After the procedure, a tampon soaked with antiseptics is inserted into the anus, after each bowel movement, an antiseptic treatment is performed and the patient’s nutrition and stool are monitored.
An improvement in the patient’s condition is noted the next day after the operation, and the complete healing of the wound occurs in a month. The advantages of the laser method are the short duration of the operation, minimal trauma and blood loss, insignificance of pain and absence of edema in the postoperative period. In addition, the likelihood of complications and relapses of the disease decreases, and a rapid recovery of the patient’s health and ability to work is noted.
In any case, be it a conservative or a surgical method, the method of treatment is selected by a specialist individually, taking into account the patient’s condition and the stage of the disease. If symptoms of the disease occur, it is better not to self-medicate, but to seek advice from a proctologist in time, he will help to avoid unwanted complications and cope with the disease.
Folk remedies
In the treatment of rectal fissures, folk remedies give a good effect in combination with drugs.Various herbal decoctions, infusions, medicinal baths, microclysters are widely used. To improve the digestive tract, they brew and drink medicinal teas based on chamomile, St. John’s wort, and sage. Bran, fish oil, plant foods and dairy products help fight long-term constipation.
- Treatment bath.
For its preparation, 4 onions are poured into 500 ml. milk, and simmer. The hot broth is poured into a container, which is closed with a lid with a hole.To avoid burns, make sure that the steam is not too hot. The patient should be positioned over the hole so that the vapors enter the affected area. The procedure can be done once a week, it is enough to sit over the steam for 10-15 minutes. - Infusion of sweet clover.
For its preparation, a tablespoon of herbs is steamed with 200 ml of boiling water and let it brew for two hours. The infusion is drunk warm, 1/3 cup three times a day. - Quince poultices. Considered to be the most effective remedy for quick cure. Wet poultices are made from quince pulp or quince juice. The procedure can be done daily.
- Herbal candles.
Recommended for the treatment of advanced rectal fissures. For the preparation of candles, take a teaspoon of plantain, motherwort, chamomile flowers. Melt about 150 g of beeswax, pour the prepared herbal mixture into it and stir thoroughly. From the resulting mass, 10 pieces of candles are made. They relieve itching and inflammation well. Store candles in the refrigerator.
Separately, it is necessary to dwell on the need to comply with mandatory hygiene measures in the treatment of anal fissure. After each bowel movement, wash the anus with cool water and use only soft toilet paper. With exacerbations of the disease, it is recommended to completely abandon toilet paper, replacing it with washing.
90,000 Pinworms in children symptoms, distribution, life cycle, PI
Pinworms are very common in children. What children often call “itchy butt” can be a symptom of pinworm infection. It is not a serious condition, but it is very common among young children. However, older children, adolescents and adults may also be at risk of contracting so-called “baby worms” if they live with infected children or have close contact with them. Sometimes there are no symptoms. In other cases, symptoms may not be as obvious as bottom itching. But every parent with young children should know about pinworms.Pinworms in children is the topic of the next article on the pages of gastritinform.ru.
What is pinworm
Pinworm is a type of parasitic worm (helminths) that is found in the human intestine. The correct scientific name for this worm is Enterobius vermicularis, but it is also known by other common names such as pinworm or sessile worm . They are roundworms, and there are many similar types of worms that can cause infection in the human intestine and sometimes in other parts of the body. Most pinworm infections occur in children, and it is the most common parasitic intestinal worm infection in the United States.
Pinworm is a white thin roundworm (nematode). Females are longer than males, on average about 10 mm compared to the average for males about 4 mm. This can be seen with the naked eye and sometimes on the skin around the anus. Pinworm infection does not cause serious complications and is often asymptomatic. In symptomatic anal itching (anal itching) is usually the main symptom and often the only symptom.
The correct scientific name for pinworms is Enterobius vermicularis
Life cycle of pinworms
Eggs (ova) of pinworms enter the intestines through the mouth. It hatches as it passes through the upper intestine, eventually emerging as larvae around the duodenum (the first part of the small intestine). The larvae migrate to the last part of the small intestine (ileum), the cecum, the appendix, and the ascending colon of the large intestine. During transport, it molts twice to eventually become an adult worm. The lifespan of females is about 5-7 weeks, while that of males is about 7 weeks.
Male and female pinworms mate in the ileum, while the pregnant pinworm remains at the junction of the small intestine and large intestine (ileocecal region) until ready to lay eggs. It then passes through the colon and rectum, exits the anus, and pierces the skin with a pin, laying eggs. The larvae that hatch from these eggs may enter the colon through the anus (retrograde infection) or the eggs may enter the environment before they hatch.
Spread of pinworms
Pinworms can be passed from one person to another. It is transmitted by eating pinworm eggs by an uninfected person. These eggs can be transmitted through direct contact with an infected person, food, or inanimate objects. Doorknobs, towels, bedding, toilets, crockery and cutlery, furniture, and various surfaces can act as fomites. Consequently, the risk is increased if you live with a person infected with pinworms or are dealing with children such as daycare workers or babysitters.
Pinworm eggs (ova) enter the intestines through the mouth
On these surfaces, pinworm eggs can survive for 2 to 3 weeks. Adequate hygiene measures are required both at home and in kindergarten or school. In addition, the child should be taught to wash his hands thoroughly after using the toilet and not to scratch or touch the bottom. Reinfection is when an infected child consumes new eggs after treatment, and this is a common occurrence with pinworm infections during childhood. Therefore, it is necessary to treat family members and other close people at the same time to prevent further spread.

Pinworm symptoms
Pinworm infection is not always symptomatic. Usually there are no symptoms when the worms are in the ileocecal region of the body. Symptoms become noticeable when the worms emerge from the anus and begin to lay eggs, or when eggs in that area then hatch. These symptoms may include:
- Anal itching (itching of the anus or itching at the bottom), and sometimes vaginal itching in women.
- Difficulty sleeping with irritability and anxiety for no apparent reason.
- Sometimes there is abdominal pain and nausea, but this is generally rare.
Symptoms are more common in children, but most of those infected are asymptomatic. Itching is not always present, and sometimes a person may feel a tingling sensation rather than itching.
Pinworm tests
An adult female pinworm can be seen with the naked eye around the anus (perianal region), but the eggs are microscopic. The presence of eggs is the best indicator for confirming the diagnosis of pinworm infection. This is done using a strip test.
Tape Test
Mobile phone adhesive tape is used to fix eggs for microscopic examination. This is done by applying the sticky side of duct tape to the skin around the anus. This procedure should be done in the morning when the person wakes up, but before bathing or using the toilet. It is best to repeat this procedure for at least three consecutive days, as three tapes have 90% sensitivity compared to 50% sensitivity of one tape. After this, the tapes should be handed over to the doctor.
Stool test
Stool analysis may be required for persistent perianal pruritus and recurrent infections. There are other possible intestinal parasites that could be causing this, not pinworms. The stool sample is sent to the laboratory for detailed analysis. It is extremely important that parents collecting stool samples for their children use gloves and wash their hands thoroughly with a disinfectant. During such procedures, there is a high risk of pinworm infection.

Medicines for pinworms
Pinworm infection is very easy to treat with anthelmintic drugs. This is a medicine that specifically destroys parasitic worms in humans. Different antiparasitic drugs can have different effectiveness against certain worms. Young worms can sometimes be resistant to these drugs, but eradication is still possible. For pinworm infection ( Enterobius vermicularis ), the following two drugs are most commonly used:
- Mebendazole.
- Albendazole.
Pinworm infection is very easy to treat with anthelmintic drugs.
The optimal approach is three doses of anthelmintic, separated at three week intervals. Re-infection is common and for this reason it is recommended that all loved ones be treated at the same time. The parents, siblings of any other child / adult family member must receive treatment.

90,000 what parasites cause itching in the anus, how to remove
The term parasites refers to a large group of parasitic microorganisms that can enter the human body – lice, ticks, helminths, viruses and bacteria.Choosing the human body as their home, parasites actively multiply, disrupt the work of internal organs and systems, lead to numerous pathologies and unpleasant symptoms.
When a small child tells his parents that my butt is very itchy, the first thing they suspect is, of course, worms (scientifically, helminths). As practice shows, it is much easier for children to get rid of worms, since parents go to the doctor for examination, and then give the child the recommended drugs.
With an adult, when he says that my anus is very itchy, and I can’t stand this condition, everything is much more complicated. The fact is that itching in the anus and in the rectum is a very delicate topic that adults do not want to discuss even with a doctor.
When the anus itches, it not only causes serious discomfort and inconvenience, but also significantly reduces the quality of life. And in the area of combing, scratches, cracks remain, the skin is irritated, as a result of which painful sensations join. There are many reasons for this condition, and the reason does not always lie in the worms.
If you wash the anus with warm water and take other hygienic measures, the itching disappears, but this does not mean that the problem is solved. If it has arisen at least once, the likelihood of its secondary occurrence is not excluded. It is necessary to figure out which parasites cause itching in the anal area, what to do in such a situation, and what treatment will help get rid of an extremely unpleasant symptom?
Causes of worms
Contents of the article:
In nature, there are many parasites that, having penetrated the human body, are capable of causing numerous negative symptoms, such as itching in the anus (but no worms are visible), increased body temperature, fever, headaches, as well as severe allergic reactions in the form of spots on the skin, rash, urticaria.
If a child says that my anus is itchy, then most likely they are pinworms (as in the photo). As a rule, the priest itches to such an extent that there is no strength to endure.
Based on statistical information, we can say that pinworms are most often found in young children than in adults. Helminths can enter the body of an adult or child through close contact with an infected person.
The situation is aggravated by the fact that if the baby is in the children’s collective, then even after a complete cure, the likelihood of secondary infection is quite high. The fact is, if worms are found in one child, it is recommended to undergo treatment for the whole team.
Worms can enter the human body in the following ways:
- Through dirty hands.
- Through household items that were touched by a sick person.
- Bed linen, dishes, items of clothing.
Pinworms provoke severe itching in the anus, as a result of which the patient says that I cannot tolerate such a condition, it is imperative to comb the itchy place in order to relieve my condition at least for a short time.Having scratched the anus, many eggs of worms remain on the hands of a person.
If you do not wash your hands, then the eggs of parasites (as in the photo) remain on all objects that the sick person touched. Under a microscope, one can see that one touch of an infected person is enough to leave up to 200 viable eggs of worms in this place.
As for the child, when it says that my butt itches, it is necessary to get tested as quickly as possible. Not all children realized the importance of hygienic measures, and they will certainly scratch their bottom, as a result of which the whole family will have to be treated.
Helminths: symptoms
Penetrating into the human body, parasites hide for a long period of time, without causing certain symptoms. If everything is easier with pinworms, and, having felt itching in the rectum, one can assume their presence, then other types of helminthic invasions proceed in a latent asymptomatic form.
However, there are parasites that not only provoke itching in the rectum, but also cause disruption of the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, resulting in nausea, diarrhea and vomiting; painful sensations in the abdomen are also observed, body temperature rises, general malaise is present – weakness, lethargy and apathy.
Almost all parasites are capable of provoking allergic reactions of varying intensity, then the patient complains that not only my butt itches, but the whole body. Allergies can manifest themselves in different ways: spots on the body, redness, rashes of unknown etiology, small pimples, extensive dermatoses.
The symptomatology is very differentiated and depends on the intensity of the helminthic invasion, the type of helminths, their number, the state of the human immune system. There are several characteristic signs of helminths according to patient complaints:
- Roundworms cause increased body temperature, which can persist for a long period of time.
- In the presence of Trichinella, the patient complains that my muscles and joints hurt, but I cannot relieve the pain with painkillers, they do not help.
- In the presence of pinworms in a child, his butt itches constantly, he says that I have itching in the anus, becomes whiny and irritable.
- An adult feels pinworms as the strongest itching in the rectum, but at the same time, it also does not do without scratching, which only aggravates the situation.
Many people wonder how pinworms provoke itching in the anus? In order to fully answer this question, it is necessary to tell about the life cycle of the roundworm.
Initially, the eggs of the parasite penetrate the oral cavity, then end up in the stomach, and after a period of time, they penetrate the small intestine, where they turn into small larvae within 20 days.
When they turn into adults, they can travel through the body, as a result of which they end up in the large intestine. Males die, but females leave the anus and lay eggs around the anus.
It was during this period that they emit a toxic substance that acts as an irritant, as a result of which the patient voices such complaints as my butt itches, I cannot tolerate constant itching and discomfort.
What to do if the butt is very itchy?
When constant itching in the rectum is pursued – these are really uncomfortable sensations, the patient says, I just cannot stand it, and scratches the mucous membrane of the anus, which leads to pain and other negative symptoms.
However, if the priest itches, in order to eliminate such an unpleasant symptom, it is necessary to cleanse the body of worms. The doctor can recommend anthelmintic drugs of a narrow or wide spectrum of action, but only after passing tests, based on their results.
Self-medication of itching in the rectum is not worth it, some drugs are capable of acting exclusively on one type of parasite, without exerting the desired effect on other types.
In addition, all drugs are highly toxic, have their own indications and contraindications for use, and a number of side effects are alarming. Undoubtedly, the situation should not be ignored, something must be done to relieve the patient from itching and alleviate his condition.
The doctor can recommend the following anthelmintic drugs:
- Decaris.
- Albendazole.
- Mebendazole.
- Pirantel.
To reduce the severity of symptoms, you can do herbal enemas, but first you need to make sure that there is no allergic reaction to them.
To alleviate the condition when the patient says that I have a lot of itching and I can’t stand it anymore, we can recommend a cream with an analgesic effect:
- Pramoxin.
- Lidocaine.
- Zinc oxide.
All these drugs not only relieve itching, but also help restore irritated skin, relieve redness, pain, burning. As a rule, the funds are applied to the affected skin several times a day.
After recovery from helminths, it is necessary to pay special attention to hygiene procedures, to carry out general cleaning at home using disinfectants; when eating vegetables and fruits, it is advisable not only to wash them, but also to scald them with boiling water; refuse raw water, drink only boiled; deworming pets.
In summary, it should be said that neither a small child nor an adult is insured against infection with helminths. The main thing is to detect their presence in the body in time, and start appropriate treatment to help avoid serious consequences in the future. The video in this article will tell you what to do to avoid catching worms.

“I don’t like to eat mutants,” said Juha, spreading a leathery wing with a small, almost human handle at the end with the end of a knife.- It is not known what is wrong with them. Eat – and you will be poisoned.
“If you don’t want to, stay hungry,” Yves snapped.
– I didn’t say: I won’t. I said: I don’t.
– Anything baked can be eaten.
– What a pity that I scared off the deer, – Juha sighed with exaggerated remorse and squinted a sly eye at Willow: is he still angry?
– Spit. It’s good that I didn’t shoot you.
Eve added nothing more. He was kind, for which the little one adored him.
Yves was angry with Yukha not for the deer, but for the fact that he secretly followed. The boy sneaked from the village itself, hiding very skillfully.
When Yves aimed at the deer, Juha realized that it was time to show up. Having obtained a lot of food, Yves will be delighted and will not become very angry with Yuhu, because you cannot be happy and angry at the same time.
Willow’s attention was focused on the line between the end of the arrow and the shiny deer’s eye. Taking advantage of the opportune moment, Juha crawled closer, and then the knot under his elbow broke with a crash.Yves instantly threw the point of an arrow onto the bush that hid Yuhu. With a shout: “Eve, it’s me,” the boy sprawled on the ground, falling face down into a thicket of stinging sticks, which made him scream even louder. An arrow smacked and sank into a branch above him, sprinkling leaves.
A frightened deer could be heard breaking through the thicket.
Yves pulled Yukha by the collar, wanted to give a crack, but saw the unfortunate face distorted by crying, all in the seeds of stinging, let go of the collar, chewed the end of the stick and silently began to peel off the small sticky grains from Yukha’s skin.
Yves and Yukha, like all the orphans of the Village, grew up in the Common House. More precisely, Yves grew up, and Juha had to grow for another five years before he was considered old enough for testing.
Yves has already passed the initiation, and now, as usual, he was going to get married.
To be honest, he didn’t know why he needed a wife. But it was supposed to be so.
In order to somehow decide, Yves wandered between the houses, critically examining the women of the village. The brides were brought in from different places. Most of all were Zarechnykh. You don’t even need to follow them – you swam across the river, transported your wife on a log – and live! There were red-haired Goryanka. Tireless and courageous, but willful. There were low-growing quiet Lesovichki. Of course, a little wife is easy to feed … But Yves wanted something different. What – he himself did not know.
Biryuk Den, who lived on the outskirts, brought his wife from the Lugovye. That was a wife, so a wife! Yves asked when she pounded grain in a mortar with a whole log:
– Shru! Are all the women in your village so hefty?
Sru gleefully bared her cast teeth, strong as a bear’s.
– I’m still frail! Why do you want to take ours? Take it, it’s a good thing – I will have someone to pamper with!
Perhaps such a wife: half a head taller than himself and twice as wide, you can have. She can easily carry off the carcass of an elk, and Willow himself at the same time, if the elk crushes. Helpful wife in the household. And you can not get married tomorrow – because the Meadows are far away, go there and go, through the Thickets and Swamps. Before settling down and living with his home, Yves wanted to travel, but he was afraid that he would be condemned for frivolity.
He asked Schru in detail about the road, wrapped a present in a mole skin: he had picked up real iron arrowheads at the Settlement. The trip there completed the initiation. He took a knife – an iron one, also from the Settlement; faithful bow, which he made himself; wrapped his legs with pieces of strong elk skin and went.
While walking through the Light Forest, I sang at the top of my lungs – my places were not dangerous, the road was easy, but in the Thicket I stopped talking and began to listen sensitively. The look in the back and the rustling of branches on someone’s sides were wonderful… Well, that’s why they are overgrown. It’s full of strange creatures. Suddenly, through the foliage, among the flying sun glare, I saw – standing ones. He stopped himself and froze. I saw a white spot, a light head with a pair of horns … Deer! Yves silently laid an arrow, took aim, and then there was a crackle in the nearby bush. What an evil spirits! In the thickets, if you want to stay alive, you must first shoot, then sort it out.
Okay, Juha managed to fall in time, otherwise his little life would have ended right there.
Yves cleaned his frosty face, pulled an arrow out of the tree, and Yukha rubbed the off-road vehicle leaves in his palms and smeared his cheeks so that they would not itch so much.
– In the morning, – said Yves, – I will take you to the Light Forest and give you a kick so that you can run to the Village itself and not look back. Truncated?
– Usek, – said Juha. And he himself thought that before dawn, how long is it. Something will happen.
At dusk, Eve shot the fly. They scared the normal game.
– Blow for brushwood. There must be at least some benefit from you. Be careful, look! You are not at home here!
Juha went into the bush and did not pick up even a couple of branches, when he saw a nest of a golden grain – a hole covered with a weakly glowing cobweb. At another time, Yukha would not have come close to her, but now, shooting at the sides with his eyes and sticking out his tongue, he carefully crept to the very edge and, before stepping into the web, yelled. It came out naturally, because he was really afraid. The golden spider attacked with lightning speed, biting painfully, the body blackened and swollen from its bites: a weaker person could die.
Zolotinka appeared instantly. Just now it was not – and here it is: round, shiny, patterned, the size of a large raincoat, with a whole bunch of sharp, tenacious legs. Now Juha shouted in earnest and began to shove the gold with the ends of his sticks. Yves grew up on the edge of the pit, squeezed the spider’s cephalothorax with his fingers and cut off the abdomen with one movement of his wonderful knife.
Then he pulled Juhu out of the hole by the collar – a piece of gold and a cut could bite.
– Juha, what a fool you are! How can I send you alone if you almost died out of the blue two times in a row? And if I come back with you, the whole Village will laugh. I went to fetch my wife – but brought Juha! Well, what to do with you after that?
Juha has never heard Eve talk so much.He must have gotten really angry.
– And you take me with you! – he squeaked and curled up into a ball.
Yves already howled, sat down with a swing, put his elbows on his knees, rubbed his face with his palms.
– You are a fool, Yushka! Think for yourself, well, how I will take you! This is not to go to the Near Streams. It’s dangerous here. No wonder in our village only Biryuk brought his wife from Lugi.
– Maybe the rest of the girls just don’t like it?
– Aha! You understand a lot! Okay, let’s cook the food. There, you can eat the ass of gold, since you don’t want to fly.
– No, she’s yours – you killed him!
They without incident lit a fire and roasted the mutant. They ate tough, as if jerky, meat, and then divided in half the oozing spider belly – a rare delicacy.
Friends lay by the fire on a heap of ferns under a willow cloak. The heat with a soft ringing ran over the coals, the smoke in a gray trickle stretched towards the stars, looking at the two children. The bonfire seemed to Juha a kind-hearted old grandfather with a long narrow beard.
The boy clung to the Willow and sometimes rubbed his itchy cheek after the burning on his clothes. Yves breathed through the soft hair. The skin under the baby’s hair smelled like home and some good resinous herbs. And, although Yves was annoyed with Yukha, his soul was warm because his friend was near.
– When we get to the Lugovs, will you tell them that I am your brother? – Juha muttered sleepily.
Uh-huh, – answered Yves. Of course, he is his brother, who else, although they are not at all alike: Yves with his dark straight hair hanging down his cheeks, and Yukha with a fluff on his head like a brown squirrel.Probably, Juha’s mother was from the mountain women …
In the morning, Eve said:
– Okay, Juha, goblin with you, stay. Just look: to obey. The places here are really dangerous.
“Otherwise, I don’t know,” Yukha answered, his face beaming with a spotted face from the burning.
For three days they made their way through the Thicket. The further we went, the thicker the thicket became. Yves shot an unfamiliar fat bird with a white stripe across its tail. It was enough for two days. Juha found a whole clearing of wild carrots and caught a lemming entangled in the grass. The thickets were teeming with food. But it was difficult to wade through the windbreak, intertwined with flexible branches. For some time they walked along the boar path, bending under low-growing branches, but the path turned sideways from the direction shown to Shru, and they had to climb over some fallen trunks and crawl under others again.
Yves hoped it would be easier when they got to the swamps.
Whatever it is! As soon as the thickets thinned out, it began to squelch underfoot. At first, they walked around the puddles, drowning in damp moss ankle-deep, then knee-deep, then they had to jump from bump to bump over the water covered with a brown film.
Yves cut off strong sticks for both of them, unwound the rope from his belt – he left one end on himself, the other tied to the boy across the body. If he falls into a swamp, he will pull him out.
It’s too bad that Eve didn’t find the signs that Schru told about. Of course, many years have passed since they walked through the swamps with Biryuk, a lot could have changed. But it doesn’t matter! The direction is known, but with a certain skill it is possible to get over the abyss.
At the edge of the island formed around the gray skeleton of a huge tree (apparently, a great forest once grew in these places) I had to stop. The next dry place was far away. Yves figured that alone he would have jumped with a stick to a snag sticking out of the water, from it to another, and then to an island with bushes, but that would not work with Yukha. He poked the bottom with a stick, awakening bubbles with a nasty smell.
– Let’s go back. We must look for another place.
– Eve, let me climb a tree and see what’s around. Just give me a boost.
Soon, stepping on Willow’s folded arms, and then on his shoulders and head, Juha was already climbing dry branches no worse than the brown squirrel, whose name he was called.
– Eve! There is a road! Or a bridge! The boy shouted from above. – Straight through the swamp! With trees!
It is unclear whether this was good news or bad, but it was worth seeing. The travelers hurried through the thickets, stepping on the branches, under which the water splashed.
Of course, it was not a road at all, but a strange tree that grew lying down. Roots extended from the trunk went into the dark water, branches rose up, some as thick as a birch from the Bright Forest, and the trunk stretched into the depths of the dead forest, no one knows where above the water itself.Branches, so as not to shade each other, grew sparsely and sparsely, so a good bridge turned out from the trunk. True, he took to the west, and the Meadows lay to the south, but Yves decided that it was better to make a detour across the open area on the other side of the swamp than to climb straight ahead.
The ancient trunk was overgrown with mosses, some kind of bubbly leaves, twigs, transparent funnels, inhabited by every little thing. Various creatures fled from under their feet in panic. Among them there could be poisonous ones. Eve wanted to let Yukha go ahead at first, so that he could always see him, but changed his mind and ordered him to go from behind, slightly tugging at the rope – they say, here I am, I haven’t gone anywhere.
Gliding along the overgrown trunk, they made their way forward, from branch to branch.
The tree seemed endless.
The sun covered the sky with orange feathers, danced goodbye between the trunks. It started to get dark. Something whitish slid in the water under the tree bridge. Eve blinked – was it imagining? Then Juha pulled the rope – he also noticed a ghostly movement.
– Have you seen it?
– But you never know there are creatures! Just in case, don’t put your hands in the water – it will suddenly gobble up.
“We will eat it ourselves,” said Juha.
And then the second creature, larger than the first, swam under the lying trunk. It was a colorless worm in bandages. Two more followed him.
– Oh you! – said Juha and looked at Willow with round eyes.
– Get down!
They spanked and moaned along the trunk, not paying attention to the scattering trifles, and then garlands of white, similar to living intestines, worms rushed in the dark water. Some raised eyeless ends above the water with mouths in the form of funnels covered with teeth, although why is not clear. They were blind. They must have felt a shiver from the steps.
A powerful branch with a fork rose up ahead, Yves decided that he needed to climb on it, away from the water, watch the creatures and wait out the darkness.
A powerful dash nearly knocked him off the tree. If the bitch had not grabbed the piece, it would have flown away into the swamp.
Looked around: how is Juha? And I was stunned when I saw a concave disc covered with bony teeth at the shoulder with a hole widening in the middle! A huge worm aimed to devour him.The rope went straight into the mouth hole. Where is Juha ?! Trying to free himself, a monster in a raincoat of splashes jumped out of the water in order to rush down from acceleration, and then, through its translucent shell, Yves saw Yukha! First – a palm with spread fingers against the background of a dark lump, and next to it – an inverted face with an open mouth pressed against the shell.
Yves managed to wind the rope weakened during the worm’s jump on a piece of a branch and hung down. He tried to rip open the shell over Yukha with a knife, but was afraid to hurt the boy.The worm darted into the depths and left, but the good rope would not let it go, and it spun and jumped like a loach on a hook. Waves washed over the trunk.
Eve could not resist and slid right onto the slimy back. Half blind from the dirty water, he began stabbing and hacking the translucent body beating nearby. It was like cutting open resin. The flesh was joining just behind the knife. He lost Juhu.
Worms of all sizes swarmed around. Apparently something oozed from the wounds of the monster.Although the tormented worm fought and wriggled furiously, they managed to stick around it like leeches, stick to the cuts. Pushing himself away from the clinging mouths, Yves somehow crawled out onto the tree and began to pull the rope, hoping to pull Yukha out of the giant devoured by his relatives. The rope didn’t budge. Unable to resist, Eve plopped down on the other side of the tree, the front part of the tortured worm stretched out and, a fragment of the same saving bitch ripped his side. Juha’s limp hand fell out.
What happened next, Eve did not remember. He came to himself at the fork of the same branch, which he had looked at earlier as an observation post. Like a howling mum, he hugged Yukha to him. The man writhed, coughed and convulsively, with a whistle, sucked in air. So he is alive.
A piece of rope dangled from a belt. Yves tied him and Yukha to a branch. A black-and-white porridge of water and worms was boiling below. The smallest ones jumped into the air, but they could not reach the travelers. Yves stuck the knife into the tree, the swamp with worms and the sky in dying feathers spun furiously, while remaining in their places.Willow vomited, he flew into the multi-colored swirling darkness, and then completely ceased to exist. He must have swallowed poisonous swamp goo to the point of losing his senses.
He woke up in the twilight, but already gray, morning. Juha, hugging him and clinging to his whole body, trembled and whined like a puppy. Willow was shivering too. Still, without the sun, but in wet clothes. He hasn’t been so cold for a long time!
The water below was as black and calm, as if they had just dreamed of worms. Apparently, the terrible creatures hunted at night.
– Juha! Are you alive?
– While alive, but about to die from the cold. Let’s go already?
All things, except a knife and a piece of rope, are missing. It was especially a pity for the bow, and the cloak would be useful now. Yves looked around longingly: not a piece, not a fragment.
Of course, it would have been safer to sit at the fork until full dawn, but there was no longer any strength to freeze. Stretching their numb limbs, they somehow slid down and, holding hands, hurried along the trunk.
When the trunk bifurcated, Yves invariably turned south.
Juha spanked behind. His stomach grumbled, but the kid did not complain. If this goes on, you will have to catch and eat the footsteps of the creatures.
The breeze brought an inviting aroma. Not edible, no, but so … addicting! For no apparent reason, Willow suddenly had a fantasy to take someone by the hand and look into the eyes … The guy frowned. He knew that some marsh plants lure small animals with the smell – what if these too? But in any case, while they are walking along the tree, the plants cannot reach them.A picture presented itself: a fat plant giant, munching its roots, wanders through the bog – but that was nonsense: after a terrible night and swamp poison, all sorts of nonsense seemed to appear. Yves shook his head, driving away the darkness. Just in case, he tightened his grip on Yukhin’s hand, and they moved on, involuntarily enjoying the scent. The guys started to get warm from the movement. The trunk was raised higher on the support-roots. Bushes grew under it – apparently, the tree crawled into shallow water.
Suddenly, around the next bend, the sun flashed dazzlingly.Frowning and squinting, the travelers looked at the island, overgrown with tall grass.
– Is this Meadows? – asked Juha.
– It doesn’t look like it.
Shru said that between the Swamp and the dry Meadows stretches a strip of Thickets, and here, right from the water, a common reed grew in a dense forest. On the hill, it gave way to flowering grasses.
The trunk of the tree went around the island at some distance from the coast, but the branches, catching the sun, spread over the panicles of the reeds.
It was very tempting to dry out, bask in the sun, find something edible, spend the night far from dangerous swamps.
Yves carefully slid into the water, took Yukha in his arms, and soon they, waist-deep in the bottom mud, got out onto the dry shore.
Berries were growing in the grass, fat edible grasshoppers were jumping, and the roots of a wild carrot on wet soil were waved out of the palm. Juha grazed like a little hog, Yves did not forget to look around.
And yet, Juha was the first to see the village. In search of something to eat, the boy climbed higher and higher, and suddenly collapsed into the grass. He began to wave his hand invitingly. Yves crawled like a snake, and they, lying side by side, gazed for a long time at the incomprehensible village on the other side of the hill.
There were round huts on the slope. Quite miserable, but decorated with sultans of flowers with the same alluring aroma. Willow’s nostrils fluttered, and unkind suspicions settled in his soul.
From the top to the base, the huts were covered with dry, wide leaves. It seems that the flower trunks served as supports for them. In the arrangement of the huts, if desired, a circle could be discerned, but on the whole they stood quite randomly. The Big House was nowhere to be seen. Well, the inhabitants are completely wild? The dwellings were connected by overgrown paths, and a little to the side was a green glade with low grass, either mown, or trampled, or eaten, or just a different kind.Yves and Yukha watched for a long time, but the strange village seemed to have died out.
– Where is everyone? – Yukha asked in a whisper.
Willow first of all thought that everyone had been eaten by worms, or carried away by the perfume, intoxicating with the scent. He shook his head. Again uninvited fairy tales climbed into it, like a vision of a wandering predator plant. Although in an unfamiliar place you must keep your guard.
– It looks like the village was abandoned.
Most likely, these are temporary dwellings. People come here to perform rituals and leave until next time.Painfully uninhabited view of the village.
– Aha! Let’s see, huh?
– So it is, Juha. There – not a foot. Collect edibles, but only on this side of the hill, while I will weave a box. It will be seen further.
While Yves was cutting the reeds and making a kind of a cone-shaped basket out of it, Juha brought in a whole bunch of tops and roots, got two lizards, a clutch of eggs, and also collected large shells, which they ate raw, as Yves feared that the smoke of the fire would attract the inhabitants of the village. Yves set aside the strongest shells for future arrows.
During their labors the air became blue and pensive, and apparently the edge of the sky lay a dark strip. The sunset promised good weather and a chilly night. You can, of course, pick up herbs and bury yourself in its heap.
They gurgled and flopped in the swamps. Someone was hunting. Even on the high bank, the guys felt uncomfortable. Where is it safer to settle for the night: on a tree by the water or at the top of a hill? Or in the hut of an abandoned village? She stands empty, with no signs of life. For the whole day, no one moved in the houses.
Maybe Willow’s caution borders on insanity? The attack of the worms shocked him much more than Juhu. It seemed that the boy had forgotten that he was swallowed and almost died, or maybe he just fainted and did not remember anything. Or could his memory not contain the immense horror and simply rejected it? Eve didn’t want to remind him of the nightmare.
The village has ceased to seem so dangerous to him.
– Juha, how about spending the night in the hut?
He quickly nodded quickly. For a long time he wanted to inspect the village, but he was silent, since he promised Iva to obey in everything.
Treading soundlessly, they descended to the outermost hut. The flower sultan dried up above her, grimaced and rested against the soil. The entire structure barely exceeded Juha’s height. Close up, it became clear that this was not a hut, but just a large plant with foliage to the ground. Yves was annoyed with himself: fear has big eyes. Wow: I was scared of the flowers! What have I come to! But how to explain the paths and the trampled meadow nearby?
– This is a plant, Juha.
– Yeah, I thought so. You can sleep under the leaves.
– Watch out – snakes may live there.
Loudly rustling to drive away possible inhabitants, they parted the leaves and crawled under their canopy. The ends of the upper leaves hung down to the ground, the lower ones fell off and covered the ground. Probably, some animal made a lair here: dragged dry grass under a leafy canopy. A heap of hay was piled up behind the pockmarked stem from the fallen cuttings. The miner Juha immediately began to investigate it on all fours.Carefully, to give the snakes time to crawl away, he began to blow up a pile from the side.
Here Eve froze, because a white head with black eyes rose from the heap. The creature looked at him, sighed convulsively, and hid.
Eve pulled Juha by the leg. He also heard a sigh, so he did not resist and froze, pressing his back to Willow. They looked at each other.
– Shhhh, – Eve whispered barely audibly and pointed with his chin at the pile. – There is a woman.
Juha goggled and looked like a brown squirrel.
Only a pile of hay moved and rustled. Apparently, the stranger tried to bury herself as deeply as possible.
“Don’t be afraid of us,” Yves said, softening his voice as best he could, “we came in peace.
Hay continued to rustle. A black-eyed vision stood before Yves’s eyes.
– Yves. I’m afraid.
– She herself is afraid of us.
– Let’s still better leave, huh?
The friends got out, looking around, crept up to another plant hut and peered inside with all the precautions.Obviously no one lived here. Dried lower leaves curved and obliquely partitioned off the space. Trying not to make noise, Yves and Yukha cut them off, made a bed for themselves and buried themselves in the rustling heap no worse than the inhabitant of the neighboring plant.
Juha giggled with pleasure. Before the closed eyes of the puzzled Willow stood a pale black-eyed face and the deeper he fell into sleep, the more beautiful it became.
Eve woke up because Juha was pushing him in the side. Morning has not yet arrived.Seeing that his friend woke up, the boy stopped pushing and crouched in the gap between the leaves.
– What’s in there? Eve asked, barely audible. Juha was silent. As soon as Eve looked out, he, too, was speechless.
The moon was full, and the dewy grasses shone towards it. The meadow became a quiet lake. White creatures were dancing on the trampled ground. They gave off a dizzy scent.
All beings wore long white robes. These were the relatives of the white woman from the first hut.
Silent shining people floated in a circle, raising and lowering their hands – in dance or prayer. They converged in the center, then parted again. The spin didn’t end. Yves swayed in time with the mesmerizing movements. Suddenly he found that only the back of Yuha was sticking out of the side of the hut. The boy was crawling towards the dancers. Eve grabbed his pants.
People dispersed across the clearing, and then translucent wings opened at once behind their backs. The white robes turned out to be wings! That was incredible! Willow imagined that the dancers had two pairs of hands. White people danced with their wings spread. Then they froze, and their wings fluttered at once, crushing the moonlight.
The guys looked spellbound. They did not notice that they got out into the free air and now stand near the hut. A long creak was heard from behind. They looked around. The old woman creaked. She also went outside. Her body was inflated so that the wings could not hide the shapeless womb. The legs barely supported the bulky torso. She squeaked for a long time.
The dancers folded their wings, and busily, in a chain, one by one, reached out to the woman. The pregnant woman could not resist on her thin legs and settled into the grass. The first ones who came up broke off her wings. The crowd then lifted the bloated body onto their shoulders and carried it away. All the participants in the procession were already creaking excitedly.
– What are they? – Yukha asked fearfully. Yves could not answer. The procession passed them like an empty space.
The friends followed, feeling invisible.
A string of beautiful white creatures carried the pregnant woman to the water. Those that were left without a load walked around, creaking and cracking their wings. On this side, the reeds were trampled or removed, opening the way to the backwater, bounded by bushes. The upper part of the worm rose above the bushes and fell into the water with a loud splash. Juha clung to Willow. The friends stopped. From where they stood, everything was visible at a glance.
The winged creatures entered the pool and lowered the pregnant woman into the black water. Behind the bushes, invisible worms gurgled and gurgled. The pregnant woman swam across the black surface like an overturned boat. White figures shook water droplets from their wings.
– Eve, let’s save her, – Juha whispered into Willow’s stomach, squinting outward with one eye.
Eve just shook his head.
– They have their own customs.
As enchanted, they looked at the receding white island, and now it has already disappeared behind the bushes. The winged folk also disappeared.
The sun was rising. The island seemed uninhabited again.
– Eve, did they sacrifice her to the worms? – whispered Juha.
– These are not people, Juha. This is someone else.
– Fairies?
– There are no fairies. These are the tales the old women tell
90,004 girls, – said Eve too sternly, because he himself almost believed in a fairy tale.- Let’s go while it’s light.
They came down the hill, heading for a lying tree.
Suddenly, Eve stopped. A thick branch bent over the broken reed to form an arch. Under the arch, smeared with resin, hung upside down the corpses of worms. Huge, they almost touched the water. Others were smaller, probably withered. Some of the mummies appeared to Yves as crumpled human bodies smeared with resin and wrapped in threads.
White people worship worms? Solemnly buries? Together with people? Is this a common cemetery?
– Yves, I’m scared, – Juha managed to simultaneously snuggle up to Willow and pull him away.
“Don’t be afraid,” said Eve. – Already leaving.
Suddenly one of the humanoid mummies hanging upside down moved and burst. A white head with blind eyes protruded from a crack in the shell, then four hands came free, resting on the shell in an effort to get out. The creature bent over, freed its whitish back, clung to the bark with its hands and began to slowly stretch the body with rags behind its back. Juha howled in horror and hid behind Willow. He laughed softly.
– Stop screwing up your eyes! You will miss the most interesting.
A soft, whitish little man crawled out onto a branch, grabbed it and froze. His eyes gradually acquired shine and blackness, the rags behind his back grew, straightened, strengthened, until they turned into sparkling white wings with a mesh pattern.
– Dead Soul! – gasped Juha. Behind his older friend, he felt quite confident.
– Aha! Man-eating ghoul! Pale lure! How! Lie more! Have you ever seen dragonflies hatch? Or butterflies?
– Is it a butterfly? – Yukha asked incredulously, looking out from behind the Willow.
– Well, yes! Six legs, wings, solid eyes. And the worms are their caterpillars. The Winged did not kill their companion, but simply sent them to lay their eggs.
– Uh! These are butterflies! – said Juha, finally detaching himself from Willow and gaining independence. – Why are they so similar to people?
– The fly also has human fingers. You never know who looks like who. Ayda, – Eve threw a basket of supplies over his shoulder. – So, Juha! We no longer go to the Luga!
– Why ?!
– Because we are going to the sea! Did you hear what the men say?
Pomors have the most beautiful girls! I will bring a wife as beautiful as anyone has ever seen! White and smelling of flowers!
They climbed a recumbent tree and turned east at the nearest fork.

Pinworms | Mamology – about your child’s health and development
When an itchy bottom sounds
You hear a voice coming from the darkness next to your bed, and it does not belong to the announcer reading the morning news. “I can’t sleep,” he says in the whimpering tone you know so well. You turn on the light and see your child standing by and scratching the pants of his pajamas. This is the third morning that it turned into a walking alarm clock, lifting you, even before the clock showed half past six, with its complaints of itching. Your child has pinworms.
Pinworms are a type of intestinal nematode (roundworm) that only lives in humans . This is the most common helminthological disease. Pinworms are the predominant helminth, says Robert Pond, M.D., a physician with the Epidemic Intelligence Service at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.Studies show that they affect between ten and thirty percent of children.
Because pinworms lay microscopic infectious eggs that spread from person to person, they are easy to get infected, says J. Owen Hendley, MD, professor of pediatrics who heads the department of childhood infectious diseases at the University of Virginia School of Medicine in Charlottesville. Pinworms take up residence in the colon of an infected child. At night or early in the morning, female pinworms descend to the anus and lay eggs on the surrounding skin. When your child scratches the itchy area, pinworm eggs end up on his hands and under his nails.
Then, if he does not wash his hands, pinworm eggs fall on everything the child touches, including toys and other household items. Other children come, touch the same things and the eggs fall into their hands. If they stick their fingers in their mouths without first washing their hands, says Dr. Hendley, they can swallow eggs, become infected, and soon their butts, too, begin to itch.
After the doctor is convinced that the child has pinworms, he will probably prescribe a medicine. In the meantime, here’s what you can do yourself.
When to see a doctor?
One recommended way to get rid of pinworms is to take medication as prescribed by your doctor, says J. Martin Kaplan, MD, professor of clinical pediatrics at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. Therefore, you should show the child to the doctor when the first signs of infection appear.
Prescribed medicine – mebendazole (Vermox) is a tablet that your child will take once or twice, depending on the doctor’s instructions. This medicine expels pinworms during bowel movements. Treatment with mebendazole is usually successful, says Janice Whalley, MD, a pediatrician in private practice in Mercer Island, Washington.
In very rare cases, pinworms can enter the vagina and cause vaginitis, says Dr. Kaplan. If your little girl has pain or discharge, be sure to tell your doctor.
Calm your child down. The mere thought that you have worms can upset anyone, especially a child. Therefore, it is important to explain to him that this does not mean that he is bad or unclean and that he does not need to be embarrassed about it. Many children have worms.
These worms have virtually no mouth, no teeth and cannot bite, says J. Martin Kaplan, MD, professor of pediatrics at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. He advises to tell the child the following: “There is nothing to be afraid of. You won’t be hurt. The only thing that will bother you is itching, and the medicine that the doctor will give will relieve you of that too. “
Use water to combat itching. If your child is very itchy, bathing or wiping his anus with a wet tissue will provide temporary relief, says Janice Whalley, M.D., a pediatrician in private practice in Mercer Island, Washington. But this napkin must be removed immediately so that other family members do not accidentally use it, and thoroughly wash your hands if you touch it.
Buy soap in the form of figurines for your child. You can stop pinworms from spreading and prevent re-infection by keeping them perfectly clean.Hand washing is especially important, says Dr. Kaplan. If your child is going through a potty training period, encourage hand washing. Buy him a curly soap, with such soap the child will play and be interested in him.
You must carry out the detective investigation yourself
Experts believe that the best method to collect reliable evidence against pinworms is in the hands of the parents themselves.
When your baby is asleep, spread his buttocks and look at the anus with a flashlight.Sometimes it is possible to see female pinworms – they are whitish, 6-8 mm long. They are like a small piece of cotton, says J. Martin Kaplan, MD, professor of clinical pediatrics at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia.
If you manage to grab one of them with tweezers, stick the culprit in a vial or plastic bag and take it to a doctor, advises Dr. Kaplan. But even if you do not show proper dexterity and will not be able to grab the worm, be sure to tell the doctor that you have seen it.
You may be able to collect pinworm eggs from a sleeping baby by pressing a piece of duct tape against the skin near the anus. You won’t see the eggs themselves, but if they exist, they will stick to the tape. Seal the potential physical evidence inside a glass slide (you can get it from your doctor or buy it at the pharmacy) with the adhesive side down. Take this to a doctor who will examine it under a microscope for pinworm eggs.
Usually, with detective work like this, kids don’t even wake up, says Dr. Kaplan. You can also check this when your child wakes you up complaining of itching, or first thing in the morning before the child has bathed.
Watch your nails – they should be short. Keeping your child’s nails neatly trimmed can help solve the problem, Dr. Wally adds. Long nails provide pinworm eggs with convenient hidden travel spots. Cutting them shorter will make it easier for your child to rinse them thoroughly and wash off the eggs.
This is a family business …
Since pinworms are so mobile, there is a possibility of infection for all family members if a child becomes infected. I usually treat the whole family on the first visit because everyone is very likely to be infected, says Janice Whalley, M.D., a pediatrician in private practice in Mercer Island, Washington. The usual medicine for every family member is mebendazole (Vermox) tablet.
Other doctors only treat an infected child, at least first. But if pinworms appear again, then the whole family is tested. If reinfected, all family members should be screened because there is the potential for a ping-pong reaction where pinworms simply pass from one family member to another, says Donald Gromish, MD, professor and chair of the pediatrics department at the county medical center. Nassau in East Meadow, NY, and professor of pediatrics at State University of New York, located in Stone Brook.
Since thorough hand washing helps prevent re-infection, ensure that all children in the family wash their hands with soap and water. Also, remember that once you get infected, you don’t get immunity from re-infection, says Dr. Wally, so stick with good habits.
Avoid being overly zealous
Emphasize the need for hygiene, but do not be overly zealous. You can rinse a child’s anus with water, but don’t rub too hard to get ultra-clean, says Donald Gromish, M.D., professor and chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow, N.Y., and professor Pediatrics at the State University of New York, located in Stone Brook.Rubbing this place will only cause harm, because the baby’s bottom is irritated.
