Don’t Treat Those Bumps On Your Butt Like Acne, Because They Probably Aren’t

“Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through the links below.”

While acne on your face wins for being the most annoying (I’m looking at you, chin pimple, who decided to pop up the day of a big presentation), acne anywhere on your body can be a real downer. Case in point: When you’re ready to pull on a swimsuit for a dip and realize you have a few pimples on your butt. Whyyyyy? Well, for starters, you might find some solace in the fact that those red or puss-filled bumps on your behind are not actually “acne” per se. At least, not the same kind that form on your face.

“Butt acne is usually not true acne, but rather folliculitis, which is a mild infection of the hair follicle that leads to red bumps and pus pimples,” explains Joshua Zeichner, MD, director of cosmetic and clinical research in dermatology at Mount Sinai in New York City.

Now that you know the bumps on your other cheeks are probably not zits, it’s time to learn how to handle buttne and get your booty ready for summer. If you’re looking to understand why your peach isn’t so smooth and some derm-approved tips on how to make it baby soft, keep reading.

What causes butt acne, anyway?

Buttne is usually caused by a combination of clogged hair follicles and a bacterial infection. But, most of the time, you can blame your booty bumps on blocked follicles, says Gary Goldenberg, MD, assistant clinical professor of dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital. Below are a few reasons you might end up with butt bumps. Warning: They can range from gross to “wait, seriously?”

1. Hormones: Dr. Heather Woolery-Lloyd, board-certified dermatologist, explains that there is a hormonal component to butt acne. Even though other factors can contribute or exacerbate the overgrowth of bacteria that can lead to inflamed hair follicles (a.k.a. folliculitis), hormones can still play major role, she says. “Hormonal changes (as seen with the menstrual cycle) can make the lining of the follicles more sticky and lead to clogged pores and pimples. Androgens are the hormones that are most likely to do this.”

Story continues

2. Keeping your wet, sweaty clothes on after you’ve hit the gym: Your sweat can dry over your pores, trapping dirt and dust, and leave bumps in their wake. Change your clothes and hop in the shower ASAP after you work out. If you don’t have time for a full shower, do a quick cleanse to get rid of bacteria and sweat with a wipe, like Degree Deodorant Wipes.

2. Sitting too much: Folliculitis is often caused by friction or irritation. And too much booty-to-chair time can make things worse, thanks to the pressure from sitting. “If your job requires a lot of sitting, make an effort to stand up more frequently,” says Mona Gohara, MD, dermatologist and a member of the Women’s Health advisory board.

3. Not changing your undies daily: Not-fresh underwear puts acne-promoting dirt, sweat, and oil up close and personal with your skin. Make sure to put on a new pair every day.

4. Wearing tight-fitting clothes: Yup, your go-to skinny jeans and leggings can actually influence whether you get butt acne. Tight-fitting clothes not only cause friction against your skin but also trap sweat and oil, making them more likely to block those hair follicles.

5. Living in your swimsuit: Noticing more butt acne in the summer? Guess what else is tight, wet, and basically your underwear? Yup, a wet suit is the perfect recipe for butt acne. Change into your clothes (or a dry swimsuit) as soon as you can.

So you’ve got buttne—no biggie! Here are 8 ways to deal.

1. Hop in the shower right after exercising.

“Showering immediately after a workout can help remove sweat, oil, and dirt that accumulate on the surface of the skin,” says Dr. Zeichner.

2. Use antibacterial soap.

Dr. Woolery-Lloyd recommends CLn body wash, which was developed by a physician and packs sodium hypochlorite to kill bacteria.

If your bum is sensitive and can’t tolerate a tough cleanser, she suggests Dove Antibacterial Wash.

3. Suds up with benzoyl peroxide.

Try targeting your booty with a benzoyl peroxide body wash or cleanser. The ingredient is effective in treating both acne and folliculitis because of its antimicrobial (a.k.a. bacteria-fighting) properties. “Sing the full alphabet once you’ve applied the product so it can sit on the skin long enough to do its job, then rinse it off,” advises Dr. Zeichner. (FYI: BP can bleach colored fabrics, so be sure to rinse thoroughly and use white towels!)

4. Moisturize daily to prevent and treat.

Miami Beach Bum was specifically created with butt acne in mind. When founder and ocean sports lover Ayssa Di Pietro dealt with butt acne from basically living in a wetsuit, she turned to plant-based ingredients to help her skin rebuild its barrier and readjust its microbiome. At a pH that your skin likes, this lotion uses an aloe base to restore the acid mantle of your skin and oregano to kill bacteria and balance your skin’s ecosystem. Di Pietro told WH she uses it once a day after she showers and it keeps everything from her back to her cheeks clear and smooth.

5. Unclog pores with salicylic acid.

You can also combat your butt breakouts with a salicylic acid acne treatment. This form of beta hydroxy acid (BHA) can help remove excess oils and exfoliate dead skin cells so they don’t get trapped in your pores and follicles (which is how buttne starts). Apply this after you shower.

6. Brighten dark marks with glycolic acid or azelaic acid.

These ingredients do double duty: Glycolic acid fights acne by helping the skin shed dead skin cells and excess oil that clog pores, while azelaic acid kills acne-causing bacteria. “Both have the benefit of brightening dark spots, which may develop after pimples or folliculitis go away,” says Dr. Zeichner.

Another option is to have your doctor prescribe 15-20% azelaic acid, or grab some OTC that isn’t as strong, according to Dr. Woolery-Lloyd.

7. Shave the right way.

Yes, some people shave their butt. “Shave in the direction of the grain of the hair instead of against it,” says Dr. Gohara. “And use ample shaving cream as well as a lubricant [to avoid irritation].”

8. Check in with a dermatologist.

If at-home solutions aren’t doing the trick, it might be time to consult a pro. Your derm might suggest trying topical antibiotics like clydomycin and azithromycin lotion and, in more severe cases, antibiotics by mouth, says Dr. Woolery-Lloyd.

How To Get Rid Of Pimples On Your Butt, According To Derms

Look: Butt pimples happen. Even though no one else will see the zits on that part of your body (unless you’re wearing a cheeky swimsuit), they’re annoying — your bum is supposed to have untouched-by-the-sun, soft AF skin. And so: Want to know how to get rid of pimples on your butt? Dermatologists are sharing all the intel you need.

What’s interesting about butt breakouts is that they’re not actually considered acne. “They usually represent a condition called folliculitis rather than true acne,” says Dr. Joshua Zeichner, MD, a New York City-based dermatologist. The pesky zit appearance comes from inflammation of the hair follicle, he explains, and can show up for all sorts of reasons. “Friction, sweat, and humidity disrupt the outer skin layer, allowing bacteria to enter into the follicles and cause a superficial infection,” says Zeichner.

While these pimply bumps are certainly not desirable, the silver lining is that they’re extremely common and often harmless. “It’s nothing to be panicked about, but it can cause a lot of discomfort and can frankly be embarrassing for people,” says Dr. Seemal Desai, MD, FAAD, a board-certified dermatologist based in Plano, Texas. The only time to be concerned? “If you’re getting a lot of very painful lesions on the buttocks — the ones that almost resemble small boils — they can sometimes get really big and cause larger infections like a pilonidal abscess,” says Desai. “In that case, it’s really important to see a board-certified dermatologist to get evaluated.

As for how to quash them so your butt is smooth and healthy? Read on for the star ingredients to look for, along with editor-approved products that do the caboose zit-zapping job.

How To Treat Butt Pimples

The most important thing in your butt pimple treatment is to keep your pores clean, which means ridding the area of any bacteria that can exacerbate your inflamed follicles or lead to even more zits. Both Zeichner and Desai highly recommend using products that contain benzoyl peroxide, a potent acne fighter that targets inflammation.

“Benzoyl peroxide treats not only acne-causing bacteria, but will also lower other bacteria on the skin like Staph, which is the bug most often responsible for folliculitis on the buttocks,” says Zeichner, who recommends applying it all over the bum before bed (just note it can bleach dark fabrics, so stick to pajamas you’re not a big fan of). You could also just use a BP-based cleanser for less of a mess — Desai says there are plenty of body washes and bar soaps that contain the active ingredient and have the same zit-quashing effect.

Also key? Exfoliate. “I recommend a gentle exfoliating cleanser to remove dead cells and keep the pores clear,” says Zeichner. These can contain ingredients like salicylic acid or fruit-based chemical exfoliants (think glycolic or malic acids). Desai is a fan of salicylic as it breaks down oil and debris in your hair follicles. If you’re going this route, be sure to use this type of treatment a few days a week, depending on your skin type.

When moisturizing, steer clear of any comedogenic (read: pore-clogging) ingredients. “Be careful with moisturizers,” says Desai. “When you’re putting them on the buttocks, you don’t want them to be occlusive, so avoid anything heavy like petrolatum jelly-based products.” These can plug your follicles and lead to even more breakouts.

As for what to buy, these are the top butt pimple treatments I’ve personally tried that do the trick (and have expert-approved ingredients). Read on to shop.

Best Products For Treating Butt Pimples

The Multitasking Cream

My personal fave butt pimple treatment is the newly launched Bom Dia Bright Cream. Technically it’s an all-over body moisturizer that contains fruit-based alpha hydroxy-acids and vitamin C to brighten and gently exfoliate. After applying it to my bum after an evening shower, I woke up to see my butt zits had shrunken by four sizes – they were smoother, way less inflamed, and barely visible. It also smells like a sweet popsicle that you’d buy on a tropical vacation, so that helps too.

The Drugstore Buy

Zeichner highly recommends this drugstore find, as it uses a blend of gentle chemical exfoliants and tiny sea minerals to slough off dead skin cell buildup to soothe and clear breakouts. And, even though it’s an exfoliant, it’s gentle enough to use every day if you need it.

The Acne & Scar-Treating Option

If you’ve got marks from former butt pimples, the Topicals Faded Serum works double duty to lighten those — thanks to tranexamic acid — as it prevents new zits from forming with azelaic acid. You simply squeeze out a tiny amount of the magical glue, apply to your problem areas, and reap the benefit of a brighter, more even-toned buttocks after regular use.

The Mask

This one’s unique: It’s actually a clay mask for your booty. So if you aren’t in the right environment to lie on your stomach with your bare butt in full view for 15 minutes as the treatment works its magic, it may not be for you. For the rest of you, though? The clay in the formula functions the same way as it does in face masks and sucks gunk out of your pores to reduce acne irritation. It also contains willow bark extract, a natural source of salicylic acid, plus sodium hyaluronate for moisture.

The Zit-Vanishing Body Wash

When it comes to breakouts, it never hurts to turn to Dr. Pimple Popper — AKA dermatologist Dr. Sandra Lee, MD — herself. Her skin care line features this benzoyl peroxide-spiked body wash that takes care of the zits on your derriere while you’re in the shower, no popping required.

What Is Butt Acne? – How to Get Rid of Butt Acne 2021

Ask any pubescent teen or stressed out working adult: Facial acne is one of life’s greatest nuisances. Now imagine how much more annoying it is when you develop acne all over your body, including your derrière, especially when the season of wearing less and going out more is almost upon us. While butt acne is as uncomfortable to discuss as facial acne, it’s also very common and can be treated and prevented with a few tips and tricks from the pros. No need to panic, dermatologist Dr. Deanne Robinson has all the answers.

What is butt acne?

First things first, butt acne is a common skin condition with its own fancy medical name called folliculitis. It looks a lot similar to the regular acne that appears on your face or chest, but it’s an entirely different condition. Folliculitis is “an inflammation of the hair follicle caused by a fungal or bacterial infection (most commonly the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria) or irritation,” Dr. Robinson explains. It’s easy to spot these bumps, as they appear as shallow red bumps at the skin’s surface, which can either show up as a single bump or a cluster. “They may be itchy, and if the bacteria spreads, it may form a deeper boil or cluster of boils which can be painful,” she adds.

What actually causes pimples on your bum?

When bacteria gets trapped in the little tiny hairs on your bum, the skin around the hair becomes inflamed and causes bumps. “A breakout is usually triggered by friction, and environments that foster bacteria—damp, suffocating fabrics—which is why it’s more common to see flares in the summer months or for those who work out and don’t shower immediately afterward,” Dr. Robinson says. A common culprit? Workout leggings, as its the closet to the body and often trap in sweat.

How can you prevent butt acne?

Dr. Robinson suggests keeping your skin clean and dry as much as you can. “Change out of damp clothes as soon as possible and wash your body,” she says. Of course, using the right body wash can help keep the area clean and breakout free. Once your body is cleansed, Dr. Robinson advises using a noncomedogenic lotion “and let it fully dry before getting dressed to not trap moisture.”

For those who work out often, Arm & Hammer Invisible Body Powder Spray will be the star of your gym bag. “It contains baking soda and odor neutralizing ingredients to absorb moisture and sweat,” Dr. Robinson explains. “Spray it on before putting on workout leggings, shorts, etc.”

What should you avoid using when treating it?

Never, ever pick at the bumps. Also, using physical exfoliants can make your condition even worse. “Don’t scrub and exfoliate with a physical exfoliator that contains microbeads because it can cause bacteria to spread, as well as further inflammation and irritation and well as long term scarring.

What types of products can you use to treat folliculitis?

The same way you’d treat your facial acne is the same approach you should have for your butt. “Look for the same active ingredients as you would for fighting acne on the face, including the skin heroes salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide,” Dr. Robinson says.

PanOxyl Acne Foaming Wash 10% Benzoyl Peroxide

“The skin on our behinds is thicker and can tolerate the 10% concentration of Benzoyl Peroxide.”

CLn BodyWash Moisturizing Body Wash

“Harnesses the power of sodium hypochlorite wash to prevent the spread of bacteria, which you use in the shower and leave on for 1 to 2 mins before rinsing.”

What Can I Do About the Rough Skin on My Arms? (for Teens)

I have these rough little bumps on my upper arms. My doctor says they are something called keratosis pilaris and there’s no cure. I’m embarrassed when I wear short-sleeved T-shirts. What should I do?
– Tamsin*

Keratosis pilaris (sometimes called “chicken skin”) is a common skin condition. It happens when a protein called keratin plugs the hair follicles, causing white or reddish bumps on the skin. The tiny bumps can feel dry and rough like sandpaper. Keratosis pilaris (pronounced: care-uh-TOE-siss pill-AIR-iss) most often is on the upper arms, thighs, cheeks, and buttocks.

Like acne, keratosis pilaris is a lot more common around puberty. Often, it gets better as a person grows older. It also tends to come and go. It usually gets worse in winter.

Keratosis pilaris is genetic. So if you have it, chances are a family member has it too (or had it when they were younger). It’s not an infection, though, and it’s not contagious.

Keratosis pilaris is not a health problem. Although it doesn’t hurt or itch, some people feel embarrassed about it. You probably notice it more than other people do.

Here are some things you can try to make keratosis pilaris look better:

  • Use a mild, non-soap cleanser on your upper arms when you shower or bathe.
  • Avoid hot baths or showers.
  • Apply a mild over-the-counter moisturizer several times during the day.  Moisturizers containing lactic acid or salicylic acid can help soften bumps and decrease roughness.

If you’re not sure what product to choose, ask your doctor or dermatologist to recommend brands of cleansers or moisturizers that might work for you.

If your skin doesn’t get better after following a simple cleansing and moisturizing regimen, talk to your doctor.

12 Best Butt Acne Treatments for 2021

Anese; Maria Badescu; Green Heart Labs; Bawdy

ICYMI: Booty beauty is a thing. But not everyone’s bum is a perfectly round peach — most of us have cellulite, scarring, and even a little thing called butt acne, also known as buttne, which is totally normal!

What Causes Butt Acne?

“[Butt acne is] probably more triggered by tight clothing which leads to irritation of hair follicles, and clogging of pores just like acne in other more common areas such as the face and the back and the chest,” says Dr. Sandra Lee, aka Dr. Pimple Popper, celebrity dermatologist and founder of SLMD Skincare. “It’s not your fault — you’re not unclean. Some people just get it, you’re not alone!”

But, if the going gets tough on your rump, Dr. Lee has good news for you: In most cases, butt acne can be treatable!

“Acne can be treated on the buttock area, similarly to how you treat other areas of the body such as the face or trunk area,” she says. “In fact, you can probably be a little more aggressive, use higher-strength anti-acne products, since dryness, redness, and irritation from acne medications is usually more tolerable in that area. Also, the skin is ‘tougher’ in this area and can tolerate higher-strength products.”

For your gluteus maximus, Dr. Lee recommends using acne-fighting ingredients like benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid.

Now that you’ve got the low-down on this cheeky subject, take a look at these booty-boosting butt acne treatments below:

ADVICE: Butt pimples may benefit from a little sun

Dear Asking For A Friend,

I have a skin question. I have always had sensitive skin — I have bit of eczema during the winter on my elbows, for example, and I break out easily whenever I use a scented product. But I have never had skin irritations on my behind. Since I have been home isolating, I have been getting butt pimples – they are smallish, and red, sometimes they have pus inside (I know, sorry, TMI). Anyway, they are very unattractive. I am wondering what I can do to get rid of them.

Signed, Ugly Behind

Dear Ugly Behind,

Body breakouts and pesky flare-ups can sometimes be hard to treat, but acne-like bumps on your booty are actually pretty common and fairly easy to get rid of.

Before we get into treatment and prevention, let’s discuss the culprits. Anything that causes excess moisture and friction can lead to pimples on your derriere. That means, tight-fitting clothes like skinny jeans or sweaty yoga pants made of synthetic material can hold moisture, lead to irritation and trigger a breakout.

“For people who sit a lot, like truck drivers, or those in wheelchairs with mobility issues, or now with COVID all that NETFLIX watching, we see occlusion of the pores, and bacteria starts to overgrow resulting in pimples and pustules,” says Dr. Benjamin Barankin, Toronto dermatologist and Medical Director of the

Toronto Dermatology Centre

. “Other than wearing breathable fabrics, and ensuring you’re not over sweating (keeping the room cool), make sure to get up and walk around regularly. Also, 10 minutes a day of sun for a few days to the affected area can be quite helpful if you have a private backyard or a balcony, to avoid getting arrested.”

Unlike facial acne, bumps on your backside aren’t as stubborn. These pimples are actually folliculitis — a mild infection of the hair follicle that manifests into bumps, and they’re easier to treat. A few simple changes to your routine can help keep your tush clean, dry and blemish-free. Shower after a workout, switch to cotton underwear, wear loose-fitting, breathable clothing, and stay away from using a loofah to avoid exposure to a

buildup of nasty bacteria

. If you continue to experience bumps on your derriere, an over-the counter acne gel can help.

“A very effective treatment is to use an acne gel containing benzoyl peroxide,” advises Barankin. “You can apply a thin layer of the gel on the affected areas, let it sit for 30 to 60 minutes, put on white underwear if need be while waiting, then wash it off in the shower or with a sponge. Sulfur and salicylic acid topically are also useful ingredients in some OTC acne products.”

Breakouts on your derriere don’t feel very sexy, but they’re quite common in the summer. If at-home solutions aren’t enough to put your pus pimples behind you, a dermatologist can recommend options.

“Another option is prescription gels from your dermatologist which may be easier to use and in some cases more effective,” says Barankin. “If topical therapies aren’t enough, we sometimes prescribe pills such as antibiotics or isotretinoin.”

What is Butt Acne? Treatment Options and Causes of Butt Acne

Butt acne refers to an outbreak of pimples or blackheads on the buttocks. It’s often caused by folliculitis and carbuncles. The condition usually occurs due to hormonal changes taking place in the body. Moreover, other underlying conditions might be responsible for its occurrence.

What’s the Difference Between Acne and Butt Acne?

Acne and butt acne are both painful skin infections most commonly caused by bacteria. While they sound similar, these two skin conditions are totally different.

What is acne?

Acne, also called acne vulgaris, is a chronic skin condition characterized by the presence of oily skin with blackheads or whiteheads spread over the face, neck, back, chest and shoulders. It is a common problem among teenagers due to hormonal changes during puberty. However, people of any age may develop.

Acne is a disease of multifactorial origin. Genetics, hormone level, and the presence of certain bacterium all play a contributory role.

What is butt acne?

Butt acne is different compared to the acne that may appear on the face. It is, in fact, another type of skin infection which occurs due to bacteria, fungus, yeast, or irritation to the hair follicles.

Additionally, butt acne may also develop due to a more severe infection called carbuncle. When small boils under the skin clump together, a carbuncle is formed. Unlike folliculitis, carbuncle causes more painful butt acne.

The differences

  1. Causative microorganism: Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) is a major cause of acne. Staphylococcus aureus (Staph), a type of bacterium is most often associated with butt acne. P. acnes is a slow-growing gram-positive bacterium found on the skin surface. In addition to acne, it may also cause some infections of the eyes. Staph is also a gram positive bacteria but more common in the respiratory tract. It may also be present in the skin. Normally harmless, it can cause a range of diseases including skin abscess, sinusitis, meningitis, sepsis, endocarditis and others.
  2. Transmissibility: It is difficult to tell whether or not butt acne is contagious. Because transmissibility varies depending on the type of the causative microorganism, you should always make sure you do not share your towel or any other item with another person. Butt acne due to staph or virus is highly contagious. However, there is every chance that you may acquire or spread fungus-associated butt acne. On the other hand, regular acne is not transmissible. There is no way you can get infected with P. acnes by acquiring it from others. In fact, you already carry this bacteria but in a dormant state. Unless activated by a number of other factors, P. acnes cannot cause acne.
  3. Risk factors: There is no doubt non-specific risk factors may be common to both these conditions. But when considering the specific risk factors, there are substantial differences. The occurrence of butt acne may be influenced by chronic diseases like diabetes, kidney and liver disorders or any disease/condition that brings the immune function down. Oily skin type, genetics, and changes in hormone levels are the most influential factors for the occurrence of acne.
  4. Treatments: Many medications may treat both these conditions. They include benzoyl peroxide, tretinoin, steroids, and antibiotics. Antifungal agents have also proven to be successful in treating some cases of butt acne. On the other hand, acne treatments may include oral contraceptives and antiandrogens.
  5. Location: Butt acne is confined to the areas around the buttocks while acne may affect your face, neck, chest, back, and shoulders.

Causes of Butt Acne

Folliculitis is the inflammation or swelling of the hair follicles, which can develop on any parts of your body. Butt acne can occur due to ingrown hairs, friction from tight clothing, or bacterial infections. Folliculitis affects the surface of the skin and is often itchy, scratchy, and painful.

Carbuncles also referred to as boils cause severe pain. They occur when folliculitis becomes deeper infections or forms pus-filled knots underneath the skin surface. Having acne on your face and torso doesn’t necessarily imply that you’re likely to get carbuncles or folliculitis on the buttocks. Nevertheless, butt acne can result in detrimental scarring if not managed appropriately. Several factors contribute heavily to the outbreak of buttock acne. This include:

  • Excessive perspiration triggered by tight fitting clothes or extreme heat, So if you happen to reside in a hot and tropical zone, wearing tight fitting clothes is bound to cause an outbreak of butt acne
  • Certain soaps or detergents that cause severe skin irritation. Check with your doctor regarding substances you may be allergic to and if possible asks him to do a full panel allergy test as this can help you find out if you would be allergic to a particular product or in this case, soap
  • Allergic reactions to scented products or perfumes. If you are allergic to inhalants and certain perfumes, then chances are that you can develop butt acne
  • Presence of folliculitis or carbuncles as a result of excessive sweating and irritation. Again, this is on account of environmental factors which can cause excessive sweating along with irritation

Treatment Options for Butt Acne

Treatment varies depending on the precise cause of your condition. You could either be suffering from carbuncles, folliculitis, or both. Normally, folliculitis eruptions disappear naturally without any medication. However, if the symptoms last longer than usual, your dermatologist may recommend a combination of treatment products to clear up your skin, often topical antibiotics, which are applied to the affected areas of the skin and benzoyl peroxide. Such products have effective antibacterial properties that help in drying out the affected skin. Moreover they should help alleviate some, if not all the symptoms and even cause the acne to disappear.

For carbuncles, medication or treatment is quite intensive since carbuncles go deeper. Your doctor might prescribe an oral antibiotic to combat the infection. In addition, he/she may have to prick the boil in a sterile setting in order to drain the accumulated pus. Thereafter, the skin will be covered using a bandage. Don’t try draining carbuncles on your own, you might contract more infections.

This is vital, do not attempt to drain a carbuncle on your own since you may end up exacerbating the situation to the point that you end up with more health complications than what you had initially. Your doctor would study the carbuncle, use a local anesthetic and sterilized needle to drain the carbuncle completely. So make sure that you follow through on this and that you consult your doctor for helping you with the carbuncle.

Butt acne is not same as pimples that appear on the face, chest, or back. Normally, these pimples on the buttocks disappear on their own. In case they do not, you should consider the following treatments to get rid of butt acne.

You have to remember that the medications that you may take to treat butt acne can vary depending on the underlying cause. There are two known causes of butt acne. They are folliculitis and carbuncle.

And moreover, you might be allergic to some and may develop a mild allergic reaction when using one or another tropical lotion or ointment. So make sure you check it out with your doctor and additionally you can also do a test at your end, to see if you are allergic or not. You take the ointment and dab a small part on your elbow and check to see how your skin reacts to the same. And if your skin does not break out into hives and rashes, then it is safe to use the ointment.

In addition, the severity of the condition also determines which treatment you should consider. Severe cases need prescription medications while mild cases may respond to over-the-counter medications, commonly known as butt acne clearing lotion.

So make an appointment with the dermatologist and find out just how severe your case is so that you can get the right treatment for your current condition.

Treatment of butt acne caused by folliculitis

Butt acne caused by folliculitis is not very severe in nature and tends to improve with topical treatments.

If the pimples on the buttocks break out suddenly and are more painful, it’s most likely to be classified as acute butt acne.

Generally, these acute outbreaks respond to antibiotics and exfoliating creams that contain alpha-hydroxy acids such as lactic acid. The former medications kill the bacteria responsible for butt acne while the latter help to remove the dead, old dead skin cells.

Individuals with chronic butt acne may also achieve results by using these topical medications. However, their effectiveness varies significantly in the chronic cases. And in case of severe cases, you would need much more than a tropical lotion and you would need antibiotics along with other medications to help resolve your butt acne.

Benzoyl Peroxide lotion

This is an antibacterial formulation that you can apply locally on butt acne. You do not need your doctor’s prescription to buy this product. However, make sure you buy it from a reputed pharmacy.

The active ingredient in this butt acne clearing lotion, benzoyl peroxide, is also available in the form of soap, bar, solution, cream, pad, wash, and gel.

However, considering a larger area that butt acne affects, many prefer using the lotion. Any form of benzoyl peroxide is as effective as the rest. Make sure to check and see if you are allergic to benzoyl peroxide, and once you confirm that you can use it safely, go ahead and apply it on the affected area.

Precautions to take

  • Benzoyl peroxide causes excessive dryness, peeling, or flaking of the skin. Therefore, you should not rub your skin after washing the surface. Instead, you should pat the skin dry and avoid using medicated soaps. A mild cleanser is the most suitable in such conditions. While there may be a temptation to scratch at it, you need to avoid doing so as the skin would be extremely dry due to the lotion.
  • Apply the lotion on a small portion of the affected areas and see if you develop an allergy. If you observe no serious or troublesome effects, you can use it over the larger affected areas.
  • Do not use this butt acne clearing lotion near your eyes. If your condition does not improve or worsen after a few days of use, consult your doctor. It is important that you check in with your doctor regularly and keep him briefed about all the medications you are using to help you treat your butt acne.
  • If you have sunburned or open skin wounds, you should not use this product over these areas. Using the lotion over open wounds can cause you to experience a burning sensation. If you do have open wounds and even small ones, do not use the lotion on it.

Tretinoin

Topical preparations of tretinoin are available with or without your doctor’s prescription. You can get liquid, cream or gel forms of this medication.

Chemically, it is a derivative of Vitamin A and helps to control butt acne. It works by facilitating exfoliation of the affected areas.

Precautions to take

This is a more potent medication and you need to exercise certain precautions to avoid serious side effects.

  • Make sure you follow the instructions on the medication leaflet properly. If you have any questions, talk to your family doctor or pharmacist. Your doctor would be the perfect person for you to contact for queries regarding tretinoin.
  • Tretinoin renders the skin sensitive to UV rays, so you should avoid exposing the treated part of the body to sunlight. If you need to, make sure you use an effective sunscreen product. In addition, apply it at bedtime and do not rub. It is important that you avoid rubbing the affected area and even scratching at it. Use soft tissues to gently pat the surface post application. And apply just before going to bed, as that should help to facilitate faster treatment.
  • Avoid using any medicated soap while using this medication. While companies can advertise their medicated soap as being allergen free, the truth is that all soaps contain allergen of one kind or other. So avoid using any new brand of soaps, especially medicated ones.
  • Do not use it together with any skin product that causes dryness such as benzoyl peroxide lotion or alcohol-containing products. Do read the directions again and do not use this lotion in combination with any other.
  • Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. It is important that you keep your doctor informed of all the facts pertinent to your case. You would need to inform the doctor whether you have plans to get pregnant, or are pregnant or breast feeding an infant at this moment. All these facts can have a bearing on the medications prescribed to help you deal with butt acne.
  • Remember Tretinoin can worsen butt acne during the first week of starting the treatment. If your condition becomes excessive during this period, stop using the product and consult your doctor.

Alpha-Hydroxy Acid (AHA)

Non-prescription products containing low concentrations of AHAs such as lactic acid may be useful to treat butt acne.

Like Tretinoin, butt acne clearing lotion containing AHA also improves the symptoms by removing the layer of dead cells from the skin surface. Additionally, they also diminish scars, improve skin appearance, and make the skin smooth.

You can also get these medically-active acids from natural sources such as sour milk, citrus fruits, and sugarcane. However, using the natural forms may not always be suitable while treating butt acne.

Precautions to take

  • Consult your dermatologist if you are using products that contain more than 10% AHA. Not all over-the-counter products have labels indicating the percent of AHA in them. Therefore, it is better to use only those products that have clearly mentioned the concentration.
  • You may have skin irritation, redness, swelling and color changes while using these products. Many of these side effects will go away after a few days of use.

Oral Antibiotics to Get Rid of Butt Acne

Before you think of using an antibiotic to treat butt acne, you should consult your doctor to understand whether or not you really need it. Mild cases and folliculitis-associated butt acne often improve on their own, so usually there is not a need for antibiotic medication.

Antibiotics are powerful medications. You should never self-medicate with oral antibiotics. Using antibiotics without proper reason is a major cause of antibiotic resistance. When a microorganism becomes resistant, you become less responsive to the common antibiotics.

You should take oral antibiotics to treat butt acne only when symptoms are severe and non-responsive to topical treatments. Moreover it is important that you consult your doctor and get him to prescribe medication rather than opt for OTC antibiotics. Most of these antibiotics come with side effects and prolonged usage would soon result in the organism becoming antibiotic resistant.

Treatment of butt acne caused by carbuncle

Butt acne that occurs due to carbuncle has more severe symptoms, since the infection affects the deeper tissues. Typically, these cases are better managed by oral antibiotics. Carbuncle is also known as staph skin infection.

Notably, if the infection is serious with an accumulation of a large amount of pus, drainage may be necessary along with the antibiotics.

You should never pierce or attempt to drain the pus at home. Doing so can cause other infections. So always get your carbuncle drained at the clinic rather than doing the deed by yourself at home. This will only result in you developing additional health complications as a result of your procedure.

When do you need oral antibiotics to treat butt acne?

Oral antibiotic therapy may not be necessary in all the cases of butt acne due to carbuncle.

However, there are certain conditions which necessitate use:

  • Symptoms that last for more than 14 days, so if your symptoms have lasted for all of two weeks, then make an appointment with your doctor and get him to prescribe some antibiotics
  • Persistent and/or relapsing nature of the carbuncle, you need to bring this to the attention of your doctor for effective treatment
  • Fever accompanying the infection, if you are running a temperature while having butt acne, you need to highlight the same to your physician so that he can recommend an effective regimen of treatment for your condition.
  • Another infection at the same time or later, if you are concurrently suffering from another infection then you have to inform your doctor regarding the same. In fact, you need to share your complete medical history with your doctor and the current ailments you are suffering from, etc.
  • Extreme discomfort or unbearable pain, if you are in extreme pain and discomfort, then you need to meet up with your doctor so that he can suggest alternative therapies and even prescribe antibiotics for the same
  • Diagnosis of any chronic systemic disease like diabetes, having a chronic disease like diabetes can impair your ability to withstand carbuncles, so your doctor would probably prescribe a few antibiotics.
  • Compromised immunity due to disease or medications, since you have a compromised immune system as a result of other health issues, you need to bring this to the attention of your doctor so that he can treat you with the right medication.

Which oral antibiotics are helpful in treating butt acne?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends all the clinicians to consider identification of the causative microorganism. This involves analysis of the pus drained from the carbuncle.

Your doctor may prescribe a combination of oral antibiotics like flucloxacillin with cephalosporin. Experts recommend different practices for the prescription of oral antibiotics to treat butt acne.

Some experts prefer to use other antibiotics such as doxycycline, rifampin, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole combination, or clindamycin.

In essence, the selection of any specific antibiotic/combination is based on clinical experience and the identification of the causative bacteria.

What should you know before using oral antibiotics to treat butt acne?

  • You should take the full course of the antibiotic and follow other instructions accordingly. Read up more on the antibiotic talk to your doctor and educate yourself of the various risks and side effects associated with this drug.
  • Learn about the potential interactions of the antibiotic with food, other drugs, and supplements. All antibiotics may react in some form or manner with other substances, so make it a point to talk to your doctor regarding this and find out whether this antibiotic may react with the other medication you have been taking so far.
  • Do not miss any of the doses. If you miss a dose of your antibiotic, do not take double doses and follow the dosing schedule. This is very important, granted that there may be times when you may have forgotten to take your dosage, so take care to ensure that you do not miss out on it. And having missed out on one of your dosages does not mean that you get to double back and make up it
  • If you develop any severe side effects or allergic reactions, discontinue the drug and seek immediate medical help.
  • Store the antibiotic in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight.

Prevention of Butt Acne

It isn’t always possible to prevent the development of carbuncles or folliculitis, but the following precautions can be taken to reduce its risks:

Always wear loose clothing – tight clothing can trigger severe skin irritation that leads to detrimental folliculitis.

Work closely with your doctor – to put any serious health conditions under control. Otherwise, your body will find it difficult to fight off dangerous infections.

Regularly wash your skin with a benzoyl peroxide cleanser – this ingredient will help you get rid of folliculitis because it dries up the dead skin.

Unclog skin pores using salicylic pads – do you want an acne-free butt? Prevent prospect developments by unblocking your skin pores a few times every week using a pad soaked in salicylic acid.

Take a shower after every sweat session – sitting around with your workout clothes can increase your risks for butt acne. It’s healthy to shower right after work so as to prevent bacterial infections. Be certain to use a sonic cleansing brush, loofah, or puff to remove any dead skin cells, sweat, or bacteria that might be sitting on your skin.

If it happens that you contract folliculitis, ensure that you promptly get it under control by adopting proper management and treatment plans.

The Bottom Line

It’s common to think that both acne and butt acne are the same. However, understanding the important differences will help you manage both conditions more effectively.

There has been a long-standing misconception that acne increases the risk of butt acne. However, this too is not true. Neither of these conditions increases the risk of another.

The most important difference is that butt acne is contagious and regular acne is not. Many cases of butt acne, as well as acne, go away on their own. However, if they persist or make you feverish, you should talk to your doctor immediately.

Natural cleansers

Instead of loading your skin with chemicals, it might be best to use natural cleansers like honey and apple cider vinegar. These are not only natural cleansers but also help in maintaining the right pH levels in your skin, which is important to control excess oil secretion.

Natural toners

There are a number of toners available, but many of them are not natural. Using natural astringent toners like apple cider vinegar twice a day helps you keep your skin glowing.

Natural masks

There are a number of natural ingredients available in your kitchen that could help you heal your skin naturally. Essential ingredients like yogurt, honey, cinnamon, coconut oil, and tea tree oil can help in controlling acne and keeping skin clean.

Gently exfoliate

Acne can be a result of dead skin and clogged pores that have not been scrubbed and cleaned. Exfoliation is an important process of maintaining skin hygiene so as to remove the dead skin and open up the clogged pores. There are a number of exfoliators available, but they stand the risk of containing chemicals and artificial ingredients that can further build up in your skin, causing irritation and acne.

Eat healthy

Eating fresh fruits, drinking enough water and eating freshly cooked homemade foods are secrets to healthy skin. Excessive toxins and a disturbed lifestyle lead to several hormonal imbalances in the body that could eventually result in problems like acne.

Probiotics

Probiotics like curd are filled with natural and good bacteria that help the body fight infections and bad germs. Probiotics can help maintain the immune system as well as help keep the digestive system clean.

Over the counter medications

You may treat acne with over the counter medications. The majority of over-the-counter products for acne contain the following active ingredients: benzoyl peroxide, resorcinol, salicylic acid, sulfur, retinoids, and azelaic acid. Most of the above mentioned active ingredients are found in medications in the form of creams, gels, lotions, pads, and soaps.

Oral medications

Over-the-counter topical treatment works for occasional breakouts. When the acne is mild to severe, it becomes necessary to see your doctor for the right treatment for your skin type. Some of the oral medications your dermatologist may prescribe you are: antibiotics, anti-androgen agent, combined oral contraceptives, and isotretinoin.

It is worth using the drug for moderate to severe forms of acne. Baziron AS contains benzoyl peroxide in different concentrations from 2.5 to 10% of the main substance. To begin to eliminate problems with the skin should be the smallest concentration of the active ingredient. If this treatment fails, a stronger gel can be tried.

I struggled with acne for a long time, having tried an infinite number of drugs, but it was not always possible to achieve results. After a while, acne reappears. I also used folk remedies in action, they do not help at all. This time I decided to look for something on the Internet and came across Enlever. After reading the reviews, and they are positive, I decided why not. I understand that to solve this problem, everyone has an individual approach, but I ordered and hoped that it would help me too. And it helped. Not fast, of course. This took time and a little extra money.

It is very important that anti-acne products do not clog the pores, otherwise the skin will receive an insufficient amount of oxygen, and this worsens its condition, appearance, and promotes the spread of rashes.

Acne on the bottom | How to get rid of acne?

Acne on the butt is a very unpleasant condition that spoils not only the appearance, but also aches, itches, itches, yes, and they certainly don’t give you beauty.

Before we start getting rid of acne, it is better to immediately understand the reasons why they appear on the pope? There are practically no sebaceous glands on the skin of the priests, and those that do do not secrete a lot of fat, so standard treatment methods will not help.

Pop – this part of our body that most often comes into contact with external stimuli, which is why problems are not uncommon, the skin constantly dries out, suffers from a lack of oxygen, rubs against objects (chairs, sofas, sheets, etc., because there are different priests ). Have you noticed that people who lead a sedentary lifestyle have problems more often? Why do you think?

Dryness is a common cause of pimples on the bottom. When the skin dries up, is not sufficiently hydrated, strong keratization begins, the pores become clogged, and since the priest is constantly in contact with something, the infection, getting into the clogged pore, immediately begins the inflammatory process.

How to get rid of?

No need to buy acne remedies, you will only make things worse. Why do we need excessive dryness? All the same, the whole ass is not covered with inflammation and will not be covered, usually there are single rashes. I offer you the 3 most effective ways:

  • Method one

You will need: alcohol iodine, cotton swabs, a mirror.

If you are not allergic to iodine, then it is better to treat pimples on the bottom with it, because it is perfect.Take a cotton swab, dip it in iodine and then smear the inflammation on the bottom 2 times a day until a stain forms. It is just that the spots do not need to be smeared with iodine, otherwise they will take a long time. From iodine, inflammations go away much faster. If you just noticed that something has begun to ripen, immediately smear the pimple with iodine (with good tolerance).

  • Second method

You will need: salicylic ointment, cotton swab, mirror.

Someone advises using salicylic alcohol, but you will have to smear it for a long time and often, and wait even longer for the effect.Salicylic ointment is much better in this regard, but do not get carried away, otherwise you will burn your skin.

  • Third way

You will need: basiron, cotton swab, mirror.

If you have an arsenal of remedies for acne at home, then you can use it, but ideally, only basiron is very good for priests, because it is quickly absorbed, kills bacteria and dries up inflammation. The fact is that the rest of the acne remedies will rub over the skin, which will cause additional dryness.

How to prevent the occurrence of

  1. Avoid dry bottom. Use a body moisturizer and dab it on your bottom. If the product does not cope with dryness, look for a new one.
  2. Use body scrubs to remove dead skin flakes. Massage brushes and sponges will also help you with this, but when there are acne, it is better not to use this method, otherwise you will spread the entire infection.
  3. Avoid sweating, wear cotton underwear that needs to be changed every day.No synthetics and lace panties! If you really want to surprise your partner, then it is better to wear it before the pleasures of love, and then only cotton so that the body breathes. Likewise for men, buy only pure cotton underpants.
  4. Someone advises that if your bottom is constantly wet, it happens that a person often sweats, then ordinary baby powder will help, which absorbs all the moisture.
  5. What are you sitting on. God forbid you on leather sofas and armchairs to sit for a long time. My advice to you, on any seat, chair, armchair or something else, put a cotton fabric folded several times (for example, the fabric used for bedspreads is ideal for this, but make sure it is 100% cotton).

Of course, in each case everything is individual, tell us how you treat this problem?

Why pimples appear on the buttocks

Since there are practically no sebaceous glands on our buttocks, and even those that do exist are not prone to secreting a large amount of subcutaneous fat, the reasons for which there are many acne on the butt will be different from the appearance of acne on other parts of the body.

The main reasons why acne appears on the buttocks in men, women and children:

  1. Excessive dryness of the skin of the buttocks. As mentioned earlier, the sebaceous glands on the buttocks secrete a very small amount of subcutaneous fat, which is why overdried skin is most often observed on the pope. As a result of its contact with external stimuli, inflammation occurs. The appearance of acne on the bottom is associated with a lack of oxygen, as well as with constant friction of this part of the body against various items of clothing and places on which you often sit (chairs, armchairs, sofas).
  2. Violation of the self-cleaning process of the skin. As a result, dead scales remain on our buttocks, which over time clog the pores.
  3. In most cases, the reason for the appearance of small pimples on the butt is a permanent sedentary lifestyle.
  4. Changes in hormonal levels.
  5. Allergic reactions to food (fruits, sweets), perfumery products, household chemicals, personal hygiene products.
  6. Prickly heat is another reason why pimples on the pope appear almost immediately after birth.
  7. Hypothermia.

Large, red, cold pimples on the bottom are associated with many of us with a venereal infection. Despite the fact that a subcutaneous pimple on the bottom is often a symptom of an STD (sexually transmitted disease), its appearance on your buttocks does not mean that you have one of them.

As soon as you find out the reason where the pimples on the pope appeared in your situation, you must immediately start treatment and not let this matter take its course.Quite often, the appearance of pimples on our body indicates serious internal disorders, therefore, it is necessary to undergo an examination without delay.

If you are not allergic to iodine, then it is better to treat pimples on the bottom with it, because it is perfect. Take a cotton swab, dip it in iodine and then smear the inflammation on the bottom 2 times a day until a stain forms. It is just that the spots do not need to be smeared with iodine, otherwise they will take a long time. From iodine, inflammations go away much faster. If you just noticed that something has begun to ripen, immediately smear the pimple with iodine (with good tolerance).

  • Method two

Someone advises using salicylic alcohol, but you will have to smear it for a long time and often, and wait even longer for the effect. Salicylic ointment is much better in this regard, but do not get carried away, otherwise you will burn your skin.

  • Method three

You will need:, a cotton swab, a mirror.

If you have an arsenal of acne remedies at home, then you can use it, but ideally, only basiron is very good for priests, because it is quickly absorbed, kills bacteria and dries out inflammation.

  3. Avoid sweating, wear cotton underwear that needs to be changed every day. No synthetics and lace panties!

How to remove acne on the bottom and legs at home?

After the appearance of acne on the legs and buttocks, there is not always the desire, opportunity and time to go to the hospital or beauty salon, so you can try to cure the inflammation at home.Let’s consider the simplest, inexpensive ways:

  • Iodine. It is necessary to take a cotton swab, moisten it in a jar of iodine, smear all inflamed pimples on the pope. This procedure must be repeated until the acne is dry. Over time, a crust forms, which disappears by itself. If the surface of the skin remains uneven, it is better to use a scrub. After the scrubbing procedure, it is imperative to lubricate the skin with moisturizing body milk so that it does not dry out.
  • When treating acne at home, tea tree essential oil is essential. It, having a natural composition, miraculously relieves the skin from inflammation. This valuable and effective remedy can be used undiluted after a shower, dabbing onto pimples with a cotton swab or fingertip. It is preferable to apply the oil in the evening. Be sure to check that the essential oil does not cause an allergic reaction.

Treatment of acne with folk remedies

Once upon a time, our grandmothers did not know other methods of treating acne, except for folk. They experimented with all kinds of decoctions of medicinal herbs, prepared tinctures. Now the fashion for folk remedies is returning, because many are tired of the products of pharmaceutical companies and are drawn to natural treatment. To our time, many effective folk remedies for acne have survived:

  1. Juice from the leaves of the agave (aloe). To prepare the juice, finely chop the washed and dried aloe leaves. Put the resulting mass in a gauze bag and squeeze out the juice with which to wipe the skin daily.
  2. Plantain. Rinse plantain leaves under a tap and dry. Then pass through a meat grinder and squeeze the resulting mass through a sieve. This juice is also used to wipe the skin, alternating with aloe juice.
  3. Decoction of St. John’s wort herb. Prepare the broth according to the instructions on the box, wipe the skin twice a day.

Prevention of acne

In the photos presented, you can see the result of getting rid of acne using the methods described above: moxibustion with iodine, treatment with tea tree essential oil, rubbing with broth St. John’s wort, aloe juice. You can see with your own eyes how effective all these remedies can be in the fight against an ailment that affects the skin of our buttocks.

One day my five-year-old daughter came home from kindergarten with a big red pimple on her bottom.I decided: perhaps the child has acne on the pope due to the shared use of the children’s toilet, and that the toilet was apparently not very clean.

“The pimple has arisen from the dirt,” I thought, and anointed it with iodine for disinfection. I also paid closer attention to hygiene products: hypoallergenic shower gel, individual sponge, always clean and strictly natural linen.

However, for some reason these measures did not lead to the desired result: the object on the child’s butt not only did not disappear – on the contrary: it somehow grew and multiplied. My medical husband diagnosed herpes. He told me not to wash, not wet and stick with a plaster on a non-woven base so that the skin breathes.

She, of course, breathed, but the pimples on the pope still lived and were not going to leave the area comfortable for them. The number of pimples on the fifth point in the child increased, they themselves became more and more, reddened and ached.

… I had to see a doctor. We went to a dermatovenerologic dispensary to see a pediatric dermatologist. The doctor recommended that all the plasters be removed and strictly ordered not to glue anything again in any case.

Streptoderma turned out to be the true cause of the formation of huge red purulent pimples on the pope. She is one of the most common causes of acne on the buttocks.

Causes of pimples on the bottom

Streptoderma

This is an infectious skin disease provoked by streptococcus. It is characterized by the appearance of red scaly convex formations that tend to grow and merge into single foci.

It must be treated with a purely antibiotic ointment, pre-treating the surface of the infected skin with a disinfectant solution.

I was pleased with my own insight: the reasons for the appearance of streptoderma really lie in the mud. That is, it is transmitted through contact – most likely, the daughter received it through a shared toilet.

Pyoderma

This disease is more general than streptoderma. It is caused by pyogenic (pyogenic) cocci – staphylococci and streptococci. We can say that streptoderma is a special case of pyoderma. If the doctor cannot reliably establish the nature of purulent skin lesions, he diagnoses “pyoderma”.

With pyoderma, acne appears on the skin of the whole body, but often for the first time it occurs precisely on the buttocks. It is important to understand that this is a bacterial lesion, and a doctor is needed to treat it, who can prescribe special antibiotic ointments.

Chickenpox

In other words, it is chickenpox, familiar to all of us from early childhood. In addition to rashes, chickenpox is accompanied by high fever, pain and aches throughout the body, unbearable itching, runny nose and sore throat.

Of course, with chickenpox, small red pimples-papules appear all over the body, but the most significant are typical localizations: behind the ears, in the popliteal caps, on the elbows, under the hair of the head, on the genitals and on the priests. It even happens that the first pimples pop up just on the skin of the priests.

A thorough examination will help not to be misled about the nature of these pimples, for there is a reason they are called papules: these are small watery vesicles that, bursting, contribute to the formation of new ones on adjacent skin segments.

Chickenpox is treated symptomatically: at high temperatures – knock down with antipyretics, with severe itching – take antihistamines, with a cold – relieve the condition with sprays and nose drops, with a sore throat – gargle and disinfecting throat sprays.

Do not wash – neither in the bath nor in the shower – as water contributes to the spread of acne.

As for papules, modern medicine believes that nothing needs to be done with them. Earlier, as we remember, they were smeared with brilliant green or treated with a manganese solution. Today the decision is up to you – to dry the papules or not.

Furunculosis

This is an acute purulent-necrotic disease of the hair follicle, sebaceous gland and surrounding connective tissue, caused by pyogenic bacteria, most often Staphylococcus aureus.

Large purulent pimples (or boils) appear on any part of the skin, including the butt. They are treated with anti-inflammatory drugs, wet-drying dressings with a hypertonic solution are applied to remove pus, and then antibiotic ointments are applied.

Hormonal background failure

In women, the nuisance in the form of acne at the fifth point may occur due to the use of contraceptive drugs. This means that this contraceptive is not suitable for the body, and in order to get rid of acne on the butt, you should seek the help of a doctor.

A similar problem can occur in adolescence, as well as during pregnancy, only in these cases, fluctuations in the hormonal background will have “natural” causes. If the rash in a teenager or a pregnant woman does not go away, brings severe discomfort, begins to increase or spread throughout the body, it is worth paying a visit to a medical specialist.

Allergy

Eating unsuitable food, smoking, alcoholic excesses, improperly selected cosmetics or medications – all this can cause a rash on the bottom.Allergic reactions of the body are unpredictable and can result in unexpected manifestations.

Sexually transmitted diseases

Sexually transmitted disease is a very serious reason in which acne on the buttocks is just the tip of the iceberg. Only a doctor will help here, who will prescribe a complex antibiotic treatment. The disease will be cured – acne will disappear.

Dry skin

For this reason, inflammation often occurs on the buttocks. Failure of the sebaceous glands due to insufficient hydration of the skin of the buttocks causes the formation of acne due to clogged pores.

On the buttocks, in principle, there are few sebaceous glands, therefore, their blockage provokes acne on the buttocks. Dry buttocks rub against underwear, the skin lacks oxygen and rashes appear on it.

A sedentary lifestyle also contributes to the clogging of pores on the skin, as a result of which pimples pop up on the butt. Increases dry skin on the buttocks and wearing synthetic panties.

Prickly heat

A red itchy rash on the buttocks may appear with excessive sweating, as well as if the sweaty buttocks were not washed in a timely manner.

Most often, prickly heat occurs in babies who are dressed in diapers. But sometimes it also affects adults who neglect timely hygiene, or do not have quick access to water and soap. In adulthood, these rashes are more common in men than in women.

Prickly heat must be ventilated and dried. You can dry the rash with baby powder when it comes to babies. However, even this question is very individual: some of the children are helped by powder, while others, on the contrary, are helped by a baby cream.

Adults should also pay attention to their personal reactions: in order to eliminate rashes on the priest, on the one hand, active rubbing with alcohol-containing lotions that disinfect and dry prickly heat can help, and on the other hand, a mild cosmetic milk or a cleansing cream will be useful for someone …

Diaper dermatitis

In addition to prickly heat, babies who constantly “live” in diapers and diapers can “acquire” diaper dermatitis. This is a severe skin irritation on a child’s bottom caused by exposure to a mixture of urine and feces.

Such dermatitis should be treated in the same way as prickly heat: either dry with baby powder – or moisturize and soothe with baby cream.

Hypothermia of the buttocks

In this case, a “pimple” reaction is also possible. About this they usually say that “they chilled the ass.”

How to get rid of pimples on the buttocks?

Disinfection will help to remove pimples on the pope: spot cauterization with iodine, brilliant green, alcohol-containing solutions, salicylic ointment.

If the cause of the rash is dry skin of the buttocks, you should combine disinfection with moisturizing and nutrition. In this case, a few drops of wheat germ oil can help: they can be mixed with lotion or cream, or they can be used in pure form.

It is good to take a bath with chamomile or celandine, sea salt is also suitable.

When do I need to see a doctor?

What to do if you can’t get rid of rashes on your own? If acne does not go away for a long time, increases in size or festering, spreads throughout the body, and also if, in addition to acne on the buttocks, there are other symptoms of poor health, be sure to make an appointment with a doctor.

It is possible that the cause of the inflammation is not at all what you thought, and requires a more serious approach to treatment.

Prevention of acne on the buttocks

  1. Wear panties only from soft natural fabrics. And no synthetics. And so that in no case rubbed.
  2. Always dress according to the season, avoiding overheating and hypothermia.
  3. Do not wear tight, butt-dragging things.
  4. Do not sit on cold surfaces.
  5. Treat your buttocks with cosmetics in much the same way as your face.
  6. Periodically take baths with sea salt or decoctions of chamomile, celandine, oak bark.
  7. And most importantly, timely and obligatory hygiene of the whole body, with an emphasis on intimate parts.

Acne is a skin rash that occurs when the sebaceous glands are disrupted. Quite often, the pathology proceeds with serious complications. In this case, pimples become painful, greatly increase in size, and the skin around them acquires a reddish tint. Localized similar rashes
also in different locations. In most cases, pimples form in the face, arms or chest area, much less often they appear on the butt.

The reasons for the appearance of rashes on the buttocks in men and women are completely different. This is most often associated with physiology
development of the organism. In women, the sebaceous glands work very actively, which is associated with an unstable hormonal background.Sweat and lard are an excellent breeding ground for pathogenic microorganisms. In some cases, the presence of purulent rashes speaks of serious diseases that require medication and sometimes surgery. When the first symptoms of this ailment appear, it is imperative to contact a dermatologist to make the correct diagnosis and select the necessary treatment.

Varieties of rashes and their features

In medicine, there are several types of acne that can form on the buttocks of women. This happens quite often, especially if a woman neglects the rules of personal intimate hygiene or too often uses products with an aggressive composition. Most commonly diagnosed closed acne
, which are located quite deep under the skin. Such a rash does not cause discomfort to a woman – acne is motionless and painless.

Open rashes look like abscesses, filled with white or yellowish contents. They can spontaneously break open and become severely inflamed. If you remove pimples yourself, then you can bring a secondary infection.
and exacerbate the situation.

The following types of rash are most often distinguished:

  • Cyst is a small single pimple that looks like a swelling or slight swelling. The main cavity of the cyst grows into the deep layers of the skin and is filled with serous fluid.
  • Papule – a skin nodule that is located on the skin of the buttocks and is not filled with pus
    or serous fluid.
  • Furuncle is a large purulent pimple that causes the patient quite severe pain.Develops against the background of infection with any type of infection.
  • A pustule is a purulent element that can have either a closed or an open form.
  • A knot is a red pimple that appears on the skin after inflammatory processes in the body. Develops in a plural form.

It should be remembered that with the transfer of any disease on the skin of the buttocks, small rashes may form
, which pass on their own after a while. Thus, the decay products of the infection are released, being excreted with sweat.

Reasons for the appearance of acne

Now we need to figure out why acne on the bottom of women is formed so often. The main reason, which experts emphasize, is insufficient or improper hygiene. This applies primarily to the hygienic cleaning
and change of bed and underwear. So, it is recommended to cleanse the skin in the area affected by the rash every time after using the toilet. For such a procedure, it is recommended to use warm running water and intimate hygiene products, which should be purchased only at a pharmacy. The best option would be to buy products with lactic acid, which will help to maintain the normal female microflora.

After hygiene procedures, the skin should be wiped dry. A humid environment always creates excellent conditions for the development of pathogenic microflora, so the skin in the genital area and anus should be completely dry
.All hygiene items should be individual for each family member, especially if one of them suffers from skin diseases. Bed linen must be changed every three to four days, and underwear must be changed every day.

No less often, the causes of the development of a rash on the buttocks in women is an allergic reaction
or lack of physical activity.

Allergic manifestation of rash

The most common type of allergy:

  • reaction to aromatic pads and detergents, scented and colored toilet paper;
  • Strongly scented laundry detergents.

It often happens that rashes appear as a result of the body’s reaction to intramuscular and intravenous injections of any drugs. Therefore, if a woman is undergoing therapy, which involves the introduction of intramuscular injections into the ass, then it is imperative to monitor the condition of the skin at the end of the treatment. If rashes are found, you should start taking antihistamines.
– Suprastina, Tavegila, Zodaka.

An allergic rash on the bottom can also appear after skin contact with substances such as:

  • shower gels, intimate hygiene products that have an aggressive composition or contain harmful substances, dyes and fragrances;
  • synthetic underwear;
  • upholstery of furniture on which a woman often sits;
  • food products.

It can also provoke the appearance of a rash on the bottom and even bumps in women, excessive eating
spicy, fatty or smoked food.

Impact of a low level of physical activity

Very often a girl moves a little due to her professional activity. In this regard, blood circulation in the pelvic organs is greatly impeded. Sitting for a long time causes the skin in the buttocks to sweat, leading to irritation and pimples. In addition, other symptoms of circulatory disorders in the pelvic region join:

  • strong and rapid fatigue;
  • Pain in the muscles of the legs by the end of the working day;
  • severe edema of the lower extremities;
  • development of varicose veins at an early age;
  • pain in the pelvic region.

If acne on the butt is accompanied by these signs, then it is imperative to increase physical activity
and consult a specialist to prevent the development of more serious consequences.

Acne on the bottom and back

Very often acne appears not only in women, but also in men. So, acne on the pope in men, the reasons can be the same as those of the fair sex. But what causes rashes on the back? In this case, it is imperative to be examined by a gastroenterologist and proctologist. This will help determine the presence of diseases of the digestive tract and intestines. Indeed, most often a rash on the back appears as a result of incorrect work
intestines. The main diseases in this case are the following ailments:

  • colitis – inflammation of the large intestine and its mucous membrane;
  • Crohn’s disease – is chronic, the entire intestine is completely inflamed;
  • ulcerative colitis – inflammation of the large intestine with the formation of ulcerative rashes;
  • duodenitis – inflammation of the duodenal membranes;
  • proctitis – inflammation of the rectum.

Many intestinal infections cause rashes on the buttocks and other areas of the body. Most often, in this case, they look like a small red rash with the presence of exudate in it.

Diseases leading to the presence of a rash

Large abscesses appear due to the development of furunculosis. This pathology is caused by staphylococcal bacteria and is a multiple purulent rash. In most cases, this ailment occurs after a woman has given birth.Staphylococcus aureus, which is the main causative agent of the disease, is constantly present in hospitals in large numbers. In order not to get infected with it, you should follow the personal hygiene measures as carefully as possible.

Rashes with furunculosis are quite large, they are very large and filled with pus. In this case, it is better to open up abscesses in a surgical room, because at home there is a high probability of incomplete cleansing and secondary infection.

Another type of pathological acne is molluscum contagiosum. They mainly occur in women in the buttocks and perineum. The disease itself is of a viral nature and requires extremely long-term treatment. If the treatment is not started on time, then you will have to remove the molluscs surgically or by burning with nitrogen.

It should be remembered that molluscum contagiosum is transmitted through contact with a sick person and intimacy. Therefore, you should protect yourself and observe personal hygiene when dealing with a sick person.

Treatment of the disease

Treat such a sore as soon as possible after detection. This is the only way to get rid of the problem and avoid its recurrence. In most cases, pimples on the pope are bacterial in nature, which makes them easy to cure at home by using special ointments and antibacterial agents. All of these products should be applied to damaged areas of the skin twice a day. Put on underwear when the product is completely absorbed into the skin.

Most often the following drugs are used for these purposes:

  • Zovirax;
  • Zenerite;
  • Acyclovir;
  • Vishnevsky ointment;
  • Ichthyol ointment;
  • Skinoren;
  • Akriderm.

All preparations should be applied very gently with a cotton swab. In this case, the pimple itself should not be touched in order to avoid re-infection.

When an allergic rash develops, antihistamine-based drugs should be taken. These include Claritin, Diazolin, Suprastin.

If boils or molluscs are found, it is imperative to consult a doctor. Such problems are eliminated only through surgical intervention. After removing the rashes, the surface of the skin should be treated with zinc ointment or Levomekol in order to quickly heal the affected skin.

In order to speed up the healing process, you should exclude from the diet such foods as baked goods, spicy foods, too fatty foods. But the introduction of healthy vegetables and fruits into the daily diet will lead to a general improvement in the body and elimination of skin problems.
