Overview

Warts are growths of the skin and mucous membranes (the mouth or genitals) that are caused by over 100 types of the human papillomavirus (HPV). The virus causes thickening of the top skin layer. A plantar wart occurs on the sole of the foot. It can look and feel like a callus. Although most types of warts are usually harmless and painless, plantar warts may be tender to walk on. Plantar warts can be small, or they can grow to cover most of the sole of the foot. They are usually painless and go away on their own, sometimes taking a few months to resolve (but can take up to 2 years).

Warts are usually acquired from person-to-person contact. The virus is not highly contagious but can cause an infection by entering through a small break in the skin. In the same way, warts can be spread to other places on your own body. The virus is rarely transferred by touching an object used by an infected person. It is a good idea to avoid sharing towels or other intimate objects and to wear shoes in public places.

Who’s at risk?

Warts can affect people of any age, but they are most common in those aged 12–16 years. It is estimated that 20% of schoolchildren and about 10% of the general population have warts. Those with HIV or organ transplants or on chemotherapy have a higher incidence of warts due to their weakened immune system.

Signs and Symptoms

The most common locations for plantar warts include:

  • Soles of the feet, especially the weight-bearing areas (the heels and balls of the feet)
  • Undersides of the toes

Plantar warts may occur singly or in clusters. They appear as thick, rough, callus-like thickenings on the soles of the feet. In addition, plantar warts often have multiple small black “dots” at the surface, which are actually tiny blood vessels.

Plantar warts are usually tender.

Infection with plantar warts can be described as:

  • Small plantar warts: one or few small, painless lesions
  • Moderate plantar warts: multiple lesions, which may be uncomfortable
  • Giant plantar warts: the warts cover a large part of the sole and may cause significant discomfort and pain

Self-Care Guidelines

Because warts can resolve on their own, it is not necessary to treat all warts. Additionally, treating warts may not always destroy them, nor will it necessarily keep other warts from appearing. Treatment can be painful and cause scars and might need to be repeated, so it should only be done in cases where the warts are highly bothersome or interfere with daily life.

  • Duct tape applied daily to the affected area seems to work for unknown reasons. The tape should be very sticky and kept on for a few days. Between changes of duct tape, the wart should be soaked in warm water, and any loose skin should be removed every few days with a mild abrasive, like a pumice stone or emery board.
  • Over-the-counter wart removers have a high percentage of salicylic acid and work by dissolving away the layer of skin infected with the virus. This treatment needs to be used daily and can sometimes be irritating if it touches unaffected skin around the wart; 40% salicylic acid self-stick pads appear to be one of the most effective types. Cut out a pad that covers the wart and then apply duct tape over the pad to secure it. Keep on for 2–3 days. Remove the pad and tape and scrub away the top layer of dead skin, now white-colored, with an emery board or pumice stone. Reapply a new 40% salicylic acid pad and duct tape. Keep removing dead skin and reapplying every few days until the wart is gone. Many plantar warts will respond in 1–2 months.
  • Over-the-counter freezing medications are available but have not been found to be very effective.
  • Family members should avoid sharing personal items such as towels.

When to Seek Medical Care

Make an appointment with a dermatologist or another physician if you have:

  • Painful or bleeding warts.
  • Rapidly spreading or multiplying warts.
  • Warts that interfere with daily life and are not responsive to self-care.

People with diabetes or a circulatory disorder should have their warts treated by a physician.

Treatments Your Physician May Prescribe

Once you have been diagnosed with a plantar wart, your physician may try one or more of the following treatments:

  • Freezing with liquid nitrogen (cryosurgery)
  • Burning with an electric needle (electrocautery)
  • Using a laser to disrupt the blood supply of the warts
  • Application of cantharidin, podophyllin, tretinoin, or salicylic acid
  • Injection with Candida antigen, an allergy-causing protein, or with bleomycin, a chemotherapy drug, directly into the warts

Plantar warts can be very stubborn, and effective treatment may take many months.

Arlington/Mansfield Foot & Ankle Centers: Podiatrists

Summer in Texas means bare feet, swimming pools, and fun by the shore. But along with sandals and exposed tootsies comes an increased risk of developing plantar warts.

Unsightly plantar warts can not only make you self-conscious about your feet, but they can cause pain and discomfort as well. Wondering if you’re at risk of getting highly contagious plantar warts?

The team of board-certified podiatrists at Arlington/Mansfield Foot & Ankle Centers explains what causes plantar warts and who gets them in this informative post. We also cover how to treat them and keep them from returning. Keep reading to learn what you need to know about plantar warts.

What causes plantar warts?

A virus called the human papillomavirus (HPV) can cause warts to develop on your skin. If you develop a wart on the sole of your foot, you have a plantar wart. Plantar warts come in different forms, appearing as a single bump or in clusters.

Some of the signs you have a plantar wart include:

  • A fleshy, rough, or grainy growth on the sole of your foot
  • A bump or dark spot that appears under hard skin
  • A growth that makes the skin on your foot change
  • Tenderness, pain, or irritation that arises when you stand or walk

Sometimes plantar warts can grow inward into the deeper layers of your skin rather than out from the surface. This happens due to the pressure your weight places on the bottoms of your feet.

Who gets plantar warts?

The virus that causes warts, HPV, is highly contagious. Anyone who comes in contact with HPV may develop plantar warts; however, some people are more susceptible than others. As with all viruses, some people react more strongly to HPV and develop warts more easily, including:

  • Teenagers and children
  • People who have weakened immune systems
  • People with a history of plantar warts

In addition, if you frequent warm, damp places, like locker rooms and indoor swimming pools, you have a higher chance of contracting the virus and getting a plantar wart — especially if you don’t wear foot coverings. People with small cuts and tears on their feet also have an increased risk of getting plantar warts because the openings allow the virus easy entry into your body.

How can I get rid of plantar warts?

The best way to get rid of frustrating and contagious plantar warts is by scheduling an appointment with a foot specialist. It’s possible to wait and let the wart resolve on its own; however, it can take years for the virus that causes plantar warts to run its course. You can also try over-the-counter (OTC) medications and remedies, which take time and deduction to work effectively.

Because warts are so contagious, the best way to eradicate these unwanted visitors is by visiting a podiatrist. Your Arlington/Mansfield Foot & Ankle Center provider examines your wart and starts effective treatment as soon as possible to help prevent the wart from spreading to other areas of your body. Possible treatment methods include:

  • Liquid nitrogen freezing
  • Prescription-strength salicylic acid
  • Surgical remove (e. g., electrodesiccation and curettage)

If your wart bleeds, is painful, or starts to look different, interferes with your ability to move around or carry out your regular activities, or if you can’t tell whether the growth is a wart, schedule an appointment immediately. You should also seek treatment from a doctor if you’ve been diagnosed with diabetes rather than use OTC treatments as they can harm your skin.

To keep plantar warts from returning, keep in mind that they’re highly contagious. The virus that causes these unsightly bumps can spread through direct and indirect contact. Avoid sharing shoes, using the same towels, or stepping on shared bathroom surfaces without shoes.

What Causes Warts? – Podiatrist in Chevy Chase, MD

What Causes Warts?

Got foot warts? Nearly everyone will have a wart at some point in their lives. Warts are typically small, hard skin growths caused by an infection with humanpallilloma virus. Foot warts are treatable. Foot warts are among the most common dermatologic conditions podiatrists treat. Read on to learn about the causes of warts.

An HPV Infection

Common warts are caused by by an HPV infection. Over 100 types of HPV exist. Certain types of HPV infection cause cervical cancer. Some types of HPV infection cause foot warts, while others cause warts that appear on the face, neck, or hands. Of the 100 types of HPV, about 60 cause common warts on areas such as the hands or feet.

Skin-To-Skin Contact

Wart viruses are contagious. You can get foot warts from skin-to-skin contact with people who have warts. However, not all HPV strains are highly contagious. You can get the wart virus by touching an object that another person’s wart touched, such as clothing, towels, shoes, or exercise equipment.

Breaks in Your Skin

HPV infects the top layer of skin and usually enters the body in an area of damaged or cut skin. Cuts from shaving can provide an avenue for infection. Getting a scrape can also bring on common warts. Foot warts are very common in swimmers whose feet are scratched by rough pool surfaces.

A Weak Immune System

In most cases, your immune system defeats an HPV infection before it creates a wart. Someone with a weakened immune system is more vulnerable and therefore more likely to develop warts. Immune systems can be weakened by HIV or by immunosuppressant drugs used after organ transplants.

If you want to get rid of foot warts, see your podiatrist as soon as possible. Many types of effective wart treatments are available. They include salicylic acid, cantharidin, cryotherapy, laser treatment, and surgery. Your podiatrist can help you get rid of foot warts once and for all!

What’s the Connection?: Neuhaus Foot & Ankle: Podiatry

While not necessarily medically dangerous, warts, especially those that develop on your feet, can pose considerable problems with comfort.

At Neuhaus Foot and Ankle, our team of podiatric health care experts specializes in the many conditions that can affect your all-important feet, from serious neuropathies to more benign problems, like plantar warts.

In the following, we review what causes warts (spoiler alert — the human papillomavirus, or HPV) — and how we can remedy the problem.

The many faces of HPV

Most people are infected by one of the hundred or so HPV strains at some point during their lives. HPV can cause a wide range of health issues, from warts to far more serious problems like cancer. Luckily, the strain that leads to plantar warts isn’t dangerous, but the infection can be stubborn and uncomfortable.

Most people pick up this type of infection because of direct contact with the virus, which prefers warm, moist environments, like public swimming areas or showers.

Recognizing plantar warts

To figure out whether you’ve been infected by HPV, it’s useful to recognize the signs of plantar warts, which are so named because warts typically develop on the plantar (bottom) side of your foot.

There are two different types of plantar warts — mosaic and solitary. Mosaic warts are groups of growths that develop close together while solitary warts, as the name implies, are single growths.

Whatever their configuration, the hallmarks of plantar warts include:

  • A fleshy and/or rough outcropping of skin
  • Patches of thick skin that look like a callus
  • Black dots at the center of the wart, which are tiny spots of blood
  • Pain and discomfort, especially when you apply pressure to the wart

Plantar warts most often form on weight-bearing areas, around the balls of your feet or on your heels, which is why they can cause so much discomfort.

Treating plantar warts

If you suspect you’ve developed plantar warts, it’s always a good idea to have us check them out. This is especially true if you have a pre-existing condition like diabetes as any problem in your feet is cause for concern.

If we confirm the presence of plantar warts, we can take several approaches to clear the infection, which include:

  • Injections that target the virus
  • Liquid nitrogen to freeze the warts (cryotherapy)
  • Topical salicylic acid medications to destroy the wart
  • Laser treatments to cut off the blood supply to the wart

If your warts don’t respond readily to these treatments, we can perform an in-office procedure in which we excise the growth using an electric needle.

Can HPV Cause Warts on Your Child’s Foot?: Hubert Lee, DPM: Podiatrist

If you’ve observed small, new growths on the sole of your child’s foot, you don’t have to panic. Your child has probably been exposed to HPV, which is a virus that can infect the skin and develop into plantar warts. Today Dr. Hubert Lee of CarePlus Foot & Ankle Specialists in Bellevue, WA is sharing information regarding these common types of warts.

Plantar warts are typically seen in patients between the ages of 12 and 16, and the HPV virus can infect numerous areas of the body, including the soles of the feet.

They are often spread via direct contact, most often when the patient walks barefoot in public showers. It’s important to remember that the strain of HPV that causes plantar warts do not spread to other parts of the body.

The gestation period for HPV on the bottom of the foot generally ranges from 1 to 20 months. This makes it difficult to determine when and where the virus was contracted. Once it does begin to develop, it can go undetected, as many patients don’t experience symptoms.

Because of the increased thickness of the skin on the sole of the foot, in its early stages, the infected area is often mistaken for a callus.

Warts can go away on their own, but not all of them will be resolved without treatment. OTC treatments can be tried in addition to keeping feet dry and clean to eliminate moisture. However, for warts that are have been there for a long time, or have become painful, you’ll need to see a podiatrist.

Depending on the length and severity of the infection time, there are several treatment options that can be utilized. The method used will be based on your podiatrist’s opinion and assessment of your child’s infection. Laser treatment is a very effective treatment method that is accurate, clean, and painless.

If you think your child may have a plantar wart as a result of contact with HPV, contact the office of Dr. Hubert Lee at CarePlus Foot & Ankle Specialists in Bellevue, WA today at (425) 455-0936 to schedule a consultation. What are plantar warts?

Warts are tiny, hard benign growths that appear at the surface of your skin. They occur when a certain strand of the human papillomavirus (HPV) infects your body, usually by entering through a cut or break in the skin. When your skin becomes infected by HPV, it causes your cells to grow at an increased rate, causing the surface layer of your skin to thicken and harden, forming a wart.

Warts can develop on any area of your body, but they most commonly appear on the hands and feet. Warts that form on the foot are known as plantar warts and typically develop on areas of your foot that bear weight, such as your heels. The weight placed on your feet can also cause plantar warts to grow inward, this is known as a callus.

Although plantar warts are typically harmless, they can sometimes cause pain. If you have plantar warts that are causing discomfort or unsightly bumps, treatment options for wart removal are available. Speak with your doctor or a foot specialist to learn more.

What causes plantar warts?

Plantar warts develop when a specific strand of the human papillomavirus infects the sole of your foot, usually through a break or cut in the skin of your foot. You can become infected with the virus by sharing certain personal items, such as razors or towels. You can also spread your own infection throughout your own body if you touch one of your warts and then touch another area of your body.

While exposure to HPV can cause plantar warts, other factors, such as the strength of your immune system, may determine how your body will react to the virus and whether you develop plantar warts. Factors that may increase your chances of developing plantar warts may include:

  • Having a weak immune system
  • If you developed warts in the past
  • Walking barefoot in certain areas, such as locker rooms

What are plantar warts symptoms?

The most notable sign of a plantar wart, or any wart, is the appearance of a small, thick, hard growth on the surface of your skin. Plantar warts can develop inward and be flat, or they can develop outward, forming a bump. The number of warts that form varies from person to person and can range from having just one to having many. Other symptoms of plantar warts may include:

  • A lesion or growth that develops at the bottom of your foot
  • A lesion in the grooves or lines of your foot
  • The formation of a callus, which indicates that the wart is growing inward
  • Tiny black dots developing in the wart, also known as wart seeds
  • Difficulty walking or standing due to foot pain

If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms or would like to learn about treatment solutions for wart removal, an appointment with your doctor or a podiatrist can help you discover more about your treatment options.

How are plantar warts diagnosed?

Plantar warts can be diagnosed by your doctor or by a foot specialist, also known as a podiatrist, who will carefully examine and assess the growth. In some cases, a skin biopsy may be needed for further diagnosis.

Can plantar warts lead to complications if left untreated?

Although plantar warts are noncancerous and do not lead to any serious complications, left untreated, they may spread to other areas of your body or cause pain when standing or walking.

How are plantar warts treated?

Plantar warts are usually not a cause for concern, and they may even disappear on their own in a few years. However, if you are experiencing foot pain or if the plantar warts are spreading and causing unsightly bumps on your foot and other areas of your body, your doctor or a podiatrist can recommend a variety of treatment options to help aid in the removal of plantar warts. Treatment options for plantar wart removal may include:

  • Salicylic acid
  • Cryotherapy
  • Immune therapy
  • Electrosurgery
  • Curettage
  • Laser treatment

Because plantar warts are caused by a virus, they may reappear even after treatment or surgical removal. Speak with your doctor or podiatrist to learn more.

If you are experiencing signs and symptoms of plantar warts, consult a podiatrist. Dr. Robert Stein is a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine who has been in practice for over 25 years and strives to ensure that adults and children live without foot pain or discomfort. Plantar warts // Middlesex Health

Overview

Plantar warts are small growths that usually appear on the heels or other weight-bearing areas of your feet. This pressure may also cause plantar warts to grow inward beneath a hard, thick layer of skin (callus).

Plantar warts are caused by HPV. The virus enters your body through tiny cuts, breaks or other weak spots on the bottom of your feet.

Most plantar warts aren’t a serious health concern and usually go away without treatment eventually. You may want to try self-care treatments or see your doctor to have the warts removed.

Plantar warts are caused by the same type of virus that causes warts on your hands and fingers. But, because of their location, they can be painful.

Symptoms

Plantar wart signs and symptoms include:

  • A small, fleshy, rough, grainy growth (lesion) on the bottom of your foot, usually the base of the toes and forefoot or the heel
  • Hard, thickened skin (callus) over a well-defined “spot” on the skin, where a wart has grown inward
  • Black pinpoints, which are commonly called wart seeds but are actually small, clotted blood vessels
  • A lesion that interrupts the normal lines and ridges in the skin of your foot
  • Pain or tenderness when walking or standing

When to see a doctor

See your doctor for the lesion on your foot if:

  • The lesion is bleeding, painful or changes in appearance or color
  • You’ve tried treating the wart, but it persists, multiplies or recurs
  • Your discomfort interferes with activities
  • You also have diabetes or poor sensation in your feet
  • You also have a weakened immune system because of immune-suppressing drugs, HIV/AIDS or other immune system disorders
  • You aren’t sure whether the lesion is a wart

Causes

Plantar warts are caused by an infection with HPV in the outer layer of skin on the soles of your feet. They develop when the virus enters your body through tiny cuts, breaks or other weak spots on the bottoms of your feet.

HPV is very common, and more than 100 kinds of the virus exist. But only a few of them cause warts on the feet. Other types of HPV are more likely to cause warts on other areas of your skin or on mucous membranes.

Transmission of the virus

Each person’s immune system responds differently to HPV. Not everyone who comes in contact with it develops warts. Even people in the same family react to the virus differently.

The HPV strains that cause plantar warts aren’t highly contagious. So the virus isn’t easily transmitted by direct contact from one person to another. But it thrives in warm, moist environments. Consequently, you may contract the virus by walking barefoot around swimming pools or locker rooms. If the virus spreads from the first site of infection, more warts may appear.

Risk factors

Anyone can develop plantar warts, but this type of wart is more likely to affect:

  • Children and teenagers
  • People with weakened immune systems
  • People who have had plantar warts before
  • People who walk barefoot where exposure to a wart-causing virus is common, such as locker rooms

Complications

When plantar warts cause pain, you may alter your normal posture or gait — perhaps without realizing it. Eventually, this change in how you stand, walk or run can cause muscle or joint discomfort.

Prevention

To reduce your risk of plantar warts:

  • Avoid direct contact with warts. This includes your own warts. Wash your hands carefully after touching a wart.
  • Keep your feet clean and dry. Change your shoes and socks daily.
  • Avoid walking barefoot around swimming pools and locker rooms.
  • Don’t pick at or scratch warts.
  • Don’t use the same emery board, pumice stone or nail clipper on your warts as you use on your healthy skin and nails.

Diagnosis

In most cases, your doctor can diagnose a plantar wart with one or more of these techniques:

  • Examining the lesion
  • Paring the lesion with a scalpel and checking for signs of dark, pinpoint dots — tiny clotted blood vessels
  • Removing a small section of the lesion (shave biopsy) and sending it to a laboratory for analysis

Treatment

Most plantar warts are harmless and go away without treatment, though it may take a year or two. If your warts are painful or spreading, you may want to try treating them with over-the-counter (nonprescription) medications or home remedies. You may need many repeated treatments before the warts go away, and they may return later.

If your self-care approaches haven’t helped, talk with your doctor about these treatments:

  • Stronger peeling medicine (salicylic acid). Prescription-strength wart medications with salicylic acid work by removing layers of a wart a little bit at a time. They may also stimulate your immune system’s ability to fight the wart.

Your doctor will likely suggest you apply the medicine regularly at home, followed by occasional office visits.

  • Freezing medicine (cryotherapy). Cryotherapy done at a doctor’s office involves applying liquid nitrogen to the wart, either with a spray or a cotton swab. This method can be painful, so your doctor may numb the area first.

The chemical causes a blister to form around your wart, and the dead tissue sloughs off within a week or so. Cryotherapy may also stimulate your immune system to fight viral warts. You may need to return to the doctor’s office for repeat treatments every two to four weeks until the wart disappears.

Some studies suggest that cryotherapy combined with salicylic acid treatment is more effective than just cryotherapy, but further study is needed.

Surgical or other procedures

If salicylic acid and freezing medicine don’t work, your doctor may recommend one or more of the following treatments:

  • Other acids. Your doctor shaves the surface of the wart and applies trichloroacetic acid with a wooden toothpick. You’ll need to return to the doctor’s office for repeat treatments every week or so. Side effects include burning and stinging. Between visits, you may be asked to apply salicylic acid to the wart.
  • Immune therapy. This method uses medications or solutions to stimulate your immune system to fight viral warts. Your doctor may inject your warts with a foreign substance (antigen) or apply a solution or cream to the warts.
  • Minor surgery. Your doctor cuts away the wart or destroys it by using an electric needle (electrodesiccation and curettage). This procedure can be painful, so your doctor will numb your skin first. Because surgery has a risk of scarring, this method usually isn’t used to treat plantar warts unless other treatments have failed.
  • Laser treatment. Pulsed-dye laser treatment burns closed (cauterizes) tiny blood vessels. The infected tissue eventually dies, and the wart falls off. This method requires repeat treatments every three to four weeks. The evidence for the effectiveness of this method is limited, and it can cause pain and potentially scarring.
  • Vaccine. HPV vaccine has been used with success to treat warts even though this vaccine is not specifically targeted toward the wart virus that causes the majority of plantar warts.

Lifestyle and home remedies

Many people have removed warts with these self-care tips:

  • Peeling medicine (salicylic acid). Nonprescription wart removal products are available as a patch or liquid. Usually, you’re instructed to wash the site, soak it in warm water, and gently remove the top layer of softened skin with a pumice stone or emery board. Then after the skin has dried, you apply the solution or patch. Patches are usually changed every 24 to 48 hours. Liquid applications are generally used daily. You may need repeated applications on a regular basis over several weeks to months to see results.
  • Freezing medicine (cryotherapy). Nonprescription medicines that freeze the wart include Compound W Freeze Off and Dr. Scholl’s Freeze Away. The Food and Drug Administration cautions that some wart removers are flammable and shouldn’t be used around fire, flame, heat sources (such as curling irons) and lit cigarettes.
  • Duct tape. Using duct tape to remove warts is a harmless but unproven approach. To try it, cover the wart with silver duct tape, changing it every few days. Between applications, soak the wart and gently remove dead tissue with a pumice stone or emery board. Then leave the wart open to the air to dry for a few hours before covering it with tape again.

Preparing for an appointment

You’ll likely start by seeing your primary care doctor. He or she may refer you to a specialist in disorders of the skin (dermatologist) or feet (podiatrist). The following tips can help you prepare for your appointment.

Prevention

What you can do

Bring a list of all medications you take regularly — including over-the-counter (nonprescription) medications and dietary supplements — and the daily dosage of each.

You may also want to list questions for your doctor, such as:

  • If I have a plantar wart, can I start with at-home care?
  • If I proceed with home treatment, under what conditions should I call you?
  • If the first treatment doesn’t work, what will we try next?
  • If the lesion isn’t a plantar wart, what tests do you need to do?
  • How long will it take to get results?
  • How can I prevent warts?

Preparing for an appointment

What to expect from your doctor

Your doctor may ask you questions such as:

  • When did the lesion first appear?
  • Has it changed in size or appearance?
  • Is your condition painful?
  • Have you had warts before?
  • Do you have diabetes or poor sensation in your feet?
  • Do you have any condition or take any medication that has weakened your ability to fight disease (immune response)?
  • Have you tried any home remedies? If so, how long have you used them and have they helped?
  • Do you use a swimming pool or locker room — places that can harbor wart-causing viruses?

What you can do in the meantime

If you’re sure you have a plantar wart, you may try over-the-counter remedies or alternative medicine approaches. But talk with your doctor before trying self-care treatments if you have:

  • Diabetes
  • Poor sensation in your feet
  • Weakened immunity

If pressure on the wart causes pain, try wearing well-cushioned shoes, such as athletic shoes that evenly support the sole and relieve some of the pressure. Avoid wearing uncomfortable shoes.

90,000 causes, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of warts

Warts are considered a sign of uncleanliness, they cause a feeling of disgust in the people around them. Meanwhile, the reasons for their appearance are far from untidiness and even from communication with toads, which we accuse from childhood of the appearance of ugly skin bumps on the arms and legs. One way or another, but you need to get rid of warts. Experienced doctors and cosmetologists of the HOMO’89 Medical Center will help you with this.

Causes of the appearance of warts

Viruses are usually the cause of warts. Moreover, there is a whole classification of warts. In it, the most common are the usual dense ones, which do not differ from the skin in color and do not grow more than 10 mm in diameter.

Plantar warts are no longer just a cosmetic defect. Composed of a bundle of threadlike papillae, they cause pain when walking. By the way, they look very much like an ordinary corn.

There are flat warts that almost do not protrude above the surface of the skin, but are still a cosmetic defect and threaten to invade neighboring territories.Genital warts, which are often called genital warts, are not at all harmless. Age-related warts are not very pleasant, in the appearance of which the virus did not participate. But the size of such formations can reach 2 cm in diameter.

Removal of warts

It is believed that warts should be removed only when they cause physical or psychological discomfort. But only a specialist can determine the origin and degree of danger of a neoplasm on the skin.Medicine knows many cases when seemingly harmless warts without treatment turned into a real nightmare for patients. Therefore, it is better to once again go for a consultation with a specialist than to risk complications.

Due to the inability to determine the origin of the wart at home, you should not self-medicate. Of course, in folk medicine there are many ways to remove such neoplasms, but not all of them are as harmless as they seem at first glance.

Here are a few symptoms that require an immediate visit to the clinic for treatment of warts:

  • the form and color of the formation change rapidly;
  • the wart is unevenly colored;
  • the boundaries of the neoplasm are blurred;
  • 90,021 pain at the site of the wart;

  • Frequent injury to the wart;
  • 90,021 increase in the number of entities;

  • bleeding warts;
  • the neoplasm itches;
  • genital warts.

The experienced doctors and cosmetologists of the HOMO’89 Medical Center specialize in the removal of warts and other skin growths. Take some time to visit the clinic – and get rid of the hated bumps on the skin forever.

What are warts on the legs with folk remedies?

Before starting treatment, there are some preparatory steps to be taken.First of all, you should cleanse the skin of any kind of contamination, dead cells of the epithelium. Many experts recommend steaming problem areas of the skin and using a scrub. After that, a few drops of the drug must be applied directly to the growth. It is not necessary to rub in the product (it itself must be absorbed into the dermis). This effect will have to be carried out 3-4 times a day (preferably at regular intervals).

The effect of using wart on the legs with folk remedies

Papillomas appear due to the ingestion of the papilloma virus into the body with weakened immunity. This then leads to the appearance of moles, warts, etc. on the skin. Despite the external manifestation of the virus, it infects the body from the inside. Neoplasms can also appear in the nose, mouth, internal organs, and genitals. It is known that almost all people are carriers of the papilloma virus. It’s just that in some people he wakes up under the influence of some reasons and external factors, while in others he lives secretly for a long time, not showing himself in any way. My papillomas appear during times of stress, strong emotional experiences. Even a movie that made you cry can be provoking. They appear in the same place all the time – near the navel. It always looks completely unaesthetic and makes adjustments to personal life..)) I tried to remove these growths with strong alkali-based pharmaceuticals. First, it hurts. Secondly, it is dangerous. What if it starts to flow into your navel? Thirdly, if you did not calculate the dose and dropped more than necessary, a burn and a scar remains afterwards. I’ve already made myself a couple of these scars, I don’t want to anymore. Therefore, I was glad to try such a remedy that works both from the outside and from the inside, and moreover is not burning. I took it according to the instructions. Small growths are gone, but large ones still remain. Probably, it was necessary to start taking it earlier as a prophylaxis… A little bigger bottle in size!

At the beginning of this year I ordered Papiderm, in comparison with many others, this product protects healthy skin and at the same time quickly removes warts and papillomas. I used to use celandine, but it injures healthy skin, and I don’t have such problems with that. It is quite simple to use, you do not need to apply a lot and there is no trace of papillomas afterwards. Where to buy warts on the legs with folk remedies? Complications from human papillomavirus

More than 100 types of human papillomavirus are known. The family of human papillomaviruses is called papillomaviruses because they cause warts or papillomas – benign (non-cancerous) tumors. Warts can appear on the hands, feet, or genital area. The types of HPV that cause warts on the hands and feet are rarely of the same type that cause it in the genital area.

In the vast majority of cases, the body’s immune system gets rid of the infection in two years.Because HPV spreads deeply into the tissue, it can stay there indefinitely. It is impossible to unequivocally determine whether it is removed or simply suppressed so that it is difficult to detect it using conventional tests. However, women who test negative for dangerous HPV types using the HPV test have almost no risk of developing serious abnormalities at the cellular level in the near future. Awareness of this fact gives peace of mind.

More than 30 species belong to genital HPV and are sexually transmitted.Only 15 of them cause cervical cancer – these are the so-called dangerous varieties of the human papillomavirus. Human papillomaviruses 16 and 18 are responsible for 70 percent of cancers.

As for the non-dangerous varieties (these include HPV 6 and 11) – they cause 90 percent of cases of genital warts, but do not contribute to the development of cancer.

HPV infection is a direct cause of cervical cancer. This disease was one of the most common causes of death among women in Yekaterinburg, but now it can be prevented. Early detection and treatment reduce cervical cancer deaths.

Women age 30 and older with chronic HPV infection tend to develop HPV, which can cause cancer or dangerous HPV types. Therefore, if they have two HPV PCR tests in a row that are positive, further tests are required, even if the Pap test is negative.

More detailed information about the human papillomavirus can be obtained from the gynecologists of the Zdorovye 365 clinic in Yekaterinburg.

Have you ever wondered that warts are contagious? Do you know how to get rid of warts? Find out more about warts!

Wart is a small growth of skin on the human body, mainly on the arms or legs.Of course, you know what a wart looks like, almost everyone had to deal with this phenomenon in childhood. How could you get it? It’s easy enough just to play with other kids. Yes, warts are contagious because they are caused by a viral infection, more specifically, one of the many types of human papillomavirus (HPV).

Children are often slightly injured – and this is an ideal situation for the human papillomavirus to affect the body in the area of damaged skin.Viruses that cause common skin warts pass from child to child, although the warts are not immediately visible: the wart may not appear until after a few months. However, in most cases, warts are not dangerous and children do not experience any physical or psychological discomfort due to their presence.

The same is true for adults, although the mechanism of the appearance of warts is not different. Very often, warts appear for no apparent reason and disappear as they appeared – on their own, without any treatment from the patient. What if the wart doesn’t usually go away? As with any skin problem, warts cause some discomfort to their owner. But people do not always treat warts, especially clinically. Unless the warts are too large and uncomfortable, people are slow to use surgery to get rid of them.

Currently treatments for warts are plentiful. Of course, as with many cases, qualified warts treatment is recommended by doctors, but people prefer painless home remedies for warts treatment.

It is sometimes easier, cheaper and less painful to treat warts at home without visiting any doctors. Here are some tips:

The most common treatment for warts is based on the use of products including salicylic acid. This applies to a variety of creams and liquids and can be purchased at every pharmacy or supermarket. These products do not provide any guarantees that the wart will completely disappear, the process is very slow, but, nevertheless, sometimes they do wonders. In addition, some doctors advise vitamin C as a very effective remedy for the treatment of warts. Another way out is to immerse the wart in warm water and rub it thoroughly with a pumice stone.

Duct tape doesn’t seem to have much credibility these days, in the age of technology. But in some cases it has been shown that adhesive tape may not be less effective than medical wart removal . Algorithm to soak the wart in warm water, glue the adhesive tape with the rubber surface. The fact is that the adhesive tape should not be removed from the place for six or seven days – then the wart will be “suffocated”; after this period, repeat the entire procedure (soaking) and reuse the adhesive tape. Freezing methods, which without a prescription include the use of sprays or aerosols, they freeze the warts at a low temperature of -57 C due to the low temperature effect, the blister forms around the wart and the dead skin falls off in about five days or less.

However, you must remember the main thing about folk remedies – do no harm. Attention: Do not use folk remedies for warts on the face and lips!

Skilled warts treatment

If a wart causes you too many inconveniences and folk remedies could not help you, then the only way out for you is medical intervention. Here are some of the surgeries that can be very effective: A doctor’s injection of bleomycin into the wart will kill the virus that caused the wart.An immunotherapy drug called Aldara will be prescribed for you – it is very effective for many types of warts. Small and laser surgery. In the first case, the doctor will cut off the wart, and the base of the wart will be destroyed using an electric needle. In the case of laser surgery, you get rid of the hated wart with a laser that will burn the tissue of the wart.
