10 Myths and Facts About Water – Diet and Nutrition Center

For something so seemingly simple and essential as drinking water, plenty of myths and misconceptions exist about possible water benefits and harms.

Learn how to separate the myths from the facts about drinking water.

1. Everyone needs to drink eight glasses of water a day.

Myth. Though water is the easiest and most economical fluid to keep you hydrated, the latest Institute of Medicine recommendation is that women should strive for about two liters or eight glasses a day and men should aim for three liters or 12 glasses a day of any fluid, not just water. “No one can figure out where this ‘eight glasses of water’ came from, but I believe it came from the old RDA [recommended daily allowance] for water that matched water requirements to calorie requirements,” notes Georgia Chavent, MS, RD, director of the Nutrition and Dietetics Program at the University of New Haven in West Haven, Conn. “The new requirement from the Institute of Medicine is much more generous and includes recommendations for total beverage consumption, not just water.”

2. Drinking water flushes toxins from your body.

Fact. Though water doesn’t necessarily neutralize toxins, the kidneys do use water to get rid of certain waste products. If you don’t drink enough water, your kidneys don’t have the amount of fluid they need to do their job properly. “If the body does not have sufficient water, then metabolic wastes will not be removed as efficiently as they should,” explains Amy Hess-Fischl, RD, CDE, of the University of Chicago Kovler Diabetes Center. “In essence, the body would be holding in toxins instead of expelling them, as is required for proper health.”

3. Bottled water can cause tooth decay.

Myth. Bottled water in and of itself doesn’t cause the teeth to decay, but it usually doesn’t contain any fluoride, which is added to tap water to help prevent tooth decay. “Fluoride is an important element in the mineralization of bone and teeth,” says Constance Brown-Riggs, RD, CDE, author of The African American Guide To Living Well With Diabetes and a nutritionist and certified diabetes educator in New York City. “With the increased consumption of bottled water, which is not fluoridated, there has been an increase in dental caries [cavities].”

4. Drinking water can help keep your skin moist.

Myth. While it used to be believed that staying properly hydrated led to youthful, vibrant skin, the reality is that the amount of water you drink probably has very little to do with what your skin looks like. “Unless the individual is severely dehydrated, drinking large quantities of water will not prevent dry skin,” Hess-Fischl says. “Basically, the moisture level of skin is not determined by internal factors. Instead, external factors such as skin cleansing, the environment, the number of oil glands, and the functioning of these oil-producing glands determine how dry the skin is or will become. The water that is consumed internally will not reach the epidermis [the top layer of the skin].”

5. Drinking water helps you lose weight.

Fact. Drinking water won’t specifically trigger weight loss, but it can aid in the process. Water replaces other calorie-laden beverages in the diet, causing you to reduce your overall number of calories. Plus, it can make you feel fuller, so you may eat less at each meal. Water, particularly cold water, may even play a role in increasing your metabolism. “A new study seems to indicate that drinking water actually speeds up weight loss,” says Tanya Zuckerbrot, MS, RD, owner of Tanya Zuckerbrot Nutrition, LLC, in New York City. “Researchers in Germany found that subjects of the study increased their metabolic rates [or the rate at which calories are burned] by 30 percent after drinking approximately 17 ounces of water.”

6. Yellow urine is a sign of dehydration.

Myth. It can be, but not all yellow urine is cause for alarm. “Dark yellow urine may be a sign of dehydration,” says Zuckerbrot. “The kidneys filter waste products and reabsorb water and other useful substances from the blood, so they control the volume and concentration of urine output. Dehydration leads to increased urine concentration, turning your urine dark yellow. Ideally your urine should be straw yellow in color.” Other factors, though, such as taking a multivitamin, can also lead to yellow urine.

7. If you’re thirsty, you are already dehydrated.

Myth. If you start to feel thirsty, then you are headed in the wrong direction and should grab a drink of water, but thirst doesn’t necessarily mean you’re dehydrated. “Thirst begins when the concentration of [substances in the] blood has risen by less than 2 percent, whereas most experts would define dehydration as beginning when that concentration has risen by at least 5 percent,” notes Hess-Fischl.

8. You need sports drinks, not water, to function at a high level in athletics.

Myth. Sports drinks may have fancier advertising campaigns, but water is really all you need to get the fluid necessary to participate in most athletic endeavors. “Adequate fluid, especially water, is most important for athletes of all ages as it is the single most important way the body has to transport nutrients and energy and remove heat during exercise,” says Chavent. “A sports or vitamin beverage may taste better, but is not necessary for hydration and is expensive.” Keep in mind though that people who run marathons or compete in highly strenuous activites may need to supplement their water intake with sports drinks to offset the salt they lose due to heavy sweating over long periods of time. This doesn’t apply to most people who are simply exercising to get fit at the gym, for instance.

9. It’s possible to drink too much water.

Fact. People with certain health conditions can put themselves at risk of complications if they drink too much water. “People with some heart conditions, high blood pressure, or swelling of the lower legs [edema] need to avoid excess water,” says Hess-Fischl. “If you have a history of kidney problems, especially if you have had a transplant, consult your doctor before increasing your fluid intake.” Hess-Fischl adds that you shouldn’t drink too much water while eating, as it dilutes your stomach acid and can cause digestion problems.

10. You should not reuse plastic water bottles.

Fact. Plastic water bottles can present a couple of risks to people who drink their contents and then fill them up time and again. “These bottles leach chemicals into your water after multiple uses,” Hess-Fischl explains. “The bottle, if not properly cleaned, may also harbor bacteria from your mouth.”

Water is essential to survival — use these facts to figure out if you need to increase your intake or feel reassured that you’re drinking enough.

Water Health – How does water help remove harmful toxins from your digestive tract?

1 | 2

First of all…What are these creepy toxins that seem to invade our body?

Toxins are actually a normal part of the body intake of food and oxygen. In a digestion process, the bowel disposes of toxins from the digestive system and the liver helps clear the way for other organs to function properly and help rid of those unwanted toxins. Your body is actually able to detoxify itself in a natural manner with the use of its lungs, liver and kidneys.

Problem solved?

Not quite… When our bodies are bombarded with unfamiliar toxins, producing too many toxins, or not eliminating toxins effectively, the toxins build up and can cause health problems. Then it is time for a detoxification program—supporting the body’s natural elimination process and preventing the day-to-day buildup of toxicity with Water. Beverages such as coffee, tea, sports drinks, soda and other sugary drinks, however, will cause more problems than high blood sugar because your body needs more water to flush out these fluids from your body, leaving you dehydrated. Other than that, many of these drinks contain unnatural ingredients which add to the toxins that our bodies must help us flush out.

It’s beneficial to have certain knowledge of detoxification: understanding the link between feeling subpar and toxicity, understanding where toxins come from, and understanding what you can do to help yourself: Drinking water is instrumental in detoxification.

But how does water help remove toxins?

Water keeps our organs functioning well, it lubricates and cushions our joint, and it regulates our body temperature and metabolism. Moreover, water flushes toxins and waste from the body and transports nutrients to where they are needed. Without water, the contents of your colon can dry out and get stuck, eventually causing constipation. Water is a natural lubricant that softens stool and promotes evacuation of the bowels.

Water is also important to kidney systems. Our kidney system is unique in its filtering capabilities and totally dependent upon water in order for it to work. The kidneys remove waste products from the blood, eliminate toxic substances in the urine, and receive water-soluble toxins from the liver for processing. They filter voluminous amounts of blood each day and in doing so maintain the body’s water balance and excrete toxins and excess fluid through the bladder. Daily fluid intake is essential for our bodies to function efficiently.

Can detox waters really flush your fat and toxins away?

Slice and dice a few cucumbers, peel a tangerine and a grapefruit, toss in a few sprigs of mint, and you’ve got yourself a bona fide detox water, able to flush fat and toxins out of the body. At least, that’s what TV health personalities like Dr. Mehmet Oz and trainer Jillian Michaels have been touting. So, what makes detox water so magical?

Pretty much nothing, scientists say.

“More water makes the body’s job of flushing toxins easier,” said Cornell nutrition and chemistry professor Thomas Brenna, “but I can get that water from my tap.

Experts debate: Do we need tougher regulation of dietary supplements?

Water does help to keep your liver and kidneys in tip-top shape. The body relies on the liver to pick up toxins from the bloodstream and convert them into water-soluable substances that can be excreted in urine. The kidneys help out, too. That’s a natural, everyday process, essential for life. Plain, old-fashioned water is a crucial ingredient to keep the system working. But adding cucumbers or mint doesn’t give the water extra power. And scientists say they don’t understand what special toxins the specialty waters are supposed to be helping you flush.

“Nobody has really explained to me what toxins they’re getting rid of,” said Dr. Donald Hensrud, a nutrition researcher at the Mayo Clinic. “People talk about it as if it’s some big compound of chemicals we need to get rid of, and I’m not sure what they’re talking about.

Celebrity selfies, lax regulations drive booming supplement industry

That hasn’t stopped companies from selling detox pitchers and water bottles, or bloggers from touting lists like “20 Delicious Detox Waters to Cleanse Your Body and Burn Fat.” Health celebrities have jumped on the trend, too. Oz brought fitness personality Kim Lyons onto his show to whip up some fat-flushing water. Michaels, the trainer on the popular TV show “The Biggest Loser,” shares a recipe for detox water she claims can help you lose up to five pounds in a week.

The Kardashians are also on the bandwagon, with Khloe sharing her favorite detox water recipe (lemons, cucumber, mint) with her millions of Instagram followers.

Supermodel Miranda Kerr swears by another Dr. Oz-touted hydration trick — drinking warm water with lemon in the morning. Kerr has said the infused water “really helps kick up the digestion and it also cleanses the body and boosts the immune system.”

Others promoting the health benefits of detox water claim that the body absorbs all the good vitamins seeping into the water from those orange and lemon slices, without the calories that come with actually eating a piece of fruit. “Basically, it’s like making your own ‘vitamin water,’ but without the cost or hidden ingredients,” the FAQ page on infusedwaters.com reads.

But experts say it’s unclear how much benefit you’d actually get from drinking infused water.

“The calories in there are minimal, though I’m not sure the water has no calories,” Hensrud said, “and that suggests that the other substances in there provide health benefits that are probably minimal, too.”

Though they’re skeptical of the big claims, nutrition experts say detox waters aren’t harmful. And they may even have one benefit — they just may be tasty enough to get you to drink more plain, old-fashioned water.

Why Water is the Key to Detoxifying Your Body

Water is, quite literally, the river on which our good health flows. Water detox can be more effective than other fussy or expensive so-called detox beverages. Water carries nutrients to our cells, aids digestion by forming stomach secretions, flushes our bodies of wastes, and keeps our kidneys healthy.

It keeps our moisture-rich organs (our skin, eyes, mouth, and nose) functioning well, it lubricates and cushions our joints, and it regulates our body temperature and our metabolism, just to name a few of its many functions.

Disease prevention

Water also plays a crucial role in disease prevention. In a study conducted at the Centre for Human Nutrition at the University of Sheffield, England, researchers concluded that women who stay adequately hydrated reduce their risk of breast cancer by 79 percent.

Another study, done at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, found that women who drink more than five glasses of water a day have a 45 percent reduced risk of colon cancer compared with women who drink two or fewer glasses of water a day.

Many doctors believe that proper hydration can help prevent chronic joint diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, because water reduces inflammation and promotes cartilage health. Adequate water consumption can also slow the signs of aging and improve conditions such as constipation, diabetes, hypoglycemia, obesity, arthritis, kidney stones, dry skin, wrinkles, cataracts, and glaucoma.

2O: the Toxic Avenger

Without enough water flowing through our systems to carry out wastes and toxins, we would literally drown in our own poisonous metabolic wastes. I don’t mean to sound alarmist, but this is no exaggeration. Even slight dehydration can wear down our systems in ways that seriously compromise our overall quality of life.

Just as the liver is crucial to the digestive process, the kidneys are necessary for helping the body remove water and waste. The kidneys are a pair of small organs that are located near the spine at the small of the back. They take in about 20 percent of the body’s blood each time the heart beats, cleans it of unwanted substances and then produce urine, the fluid by which these wastes are eliminated from the body.

Normal-functioning kidneys also control the concentration levels of body fluids. If body fluids are too dilute, the kidneys expel excess water via urine. If body fluids are too concentrated, the kidneys excrete the excess solutes and hang on to the water. In short, the kidneys are all about balancing the fluids and electrolytes in our bodies so that our systems run smoothly.

If the kidneys don’t get the water they need to perform these filtering functions, our health deteriorates rapidly.

Electrolytes and hydration

Electrolyte is the scientific term for a type of salt made up of ions that are positively and negatively charged. These are the “sparks” that transfer electrical messages across cells, and this activity is what makes our bodies function. Our kidneys work to keep our electrolyte concentrations steady, since they must be replaced constantly. If they’re not, dehydration can set in, which can lead to organ damage and seizures. How can we be sure that we’re getting enough electrolytes? Do we need to buy specially formulated, sugar-enhanced sports drinks?

Many sports physiologists actually recommend water—that’s right, plain water—over the fancy sports drinks that are marketed to us. Experts have found that the difference in electrolyte content between water and sports drinks is important only to elite athletes who are competing professionally in endurance events. Since electrolytes are already plentiful in the American diet, moderate to regular exercisers don’t have to worry about running out of these salty ions. Edible sea vegetables, the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet, are a great source of electrolytes as well as of minerals and trace elements.

Wisdom from traditional Chinese medicine

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, the kidneys and bladder regulate the fluids in our bodies and make up the Water Element. Our kidneys are fantastic removers; they get rid of the waste products from protein metabolism—uric acid, urea, and lactic acid—but they need lots of water to accomplish this.

Traditional Chinese Medicine reveres the kidneys because they distribute qi, or vital life energy, throughout the body. The kidneys are responsible for removing excess hormones, vitamins, minerals, and foreign toxins such as drugs, chemicals, and food additives.

Water Fights Fat

Drinking water is hugely beneficial for weight loss. In fact, if you’re looking for a magic bullet to get your weight loss under way, there is no better strategy than to drink 10 glasses of water a day. Here’s why: Water is a natural appetite suppressor, and it helps the body metabolize fat. When the kidneys don’t get enough water and can’t function properly, the liver gets called upon to fill in and take on the role of eliminating toxins from our systems.

Normally, one of the liver’s big jobs is to metabolize stored fat into a usable form of energy. But when the liver is busy doing the kidneys’ job, it’s not available to metabolize stored fat. As more and more fat is stored in the body weight loss stops.

Paradoxically, drinking lots of water is also a best remedy for water retention. The body retains water as a response to not getting enough water in the first place. Perceiving a threat, the cells cling onto the water they have, causing swelling in our hands, feet, and legs. When we drink enough water, our cells can relax and do their job-without holding on to the scarce water.

Also, someone who is overweight needs to take in more water than someone who is thin. This is because the larger person has a larger metabolic load. To support this, more water is needed.

As you are losing weight, your body is going to have more toxins and waste to dispose of. Step up your water intake at this point, and you’ll help your body eliminate wastes more efficiently, thereby helping your weight loss along.

7 Ways Drinking Water Helps Improve Skin: Pure Luxe Medical: Medical Spa

Many people underestimate the power of drinking water and the positive affects it can have on your skin and your overall health. Your skin is the largest organ in your body, protecting you, storing lipids and water, preventing fluid loss and serving as thermoregulation. Drinking more water is the most natural way to get that beaming, glowing and healthy skin we all want.

Let’s take a look at 7 ways drinking water helps improve skin.

#1. Sagging Skin

Rapid shedding of fat or extreme weight loss may cause sagging skin. Many people tighten their skin by water fasting, but this is an unhealthy method and can actually do grave damage to your skin. By drinking ample amounts of water day-in and day-out, you can slowly tighten your skin and maintain a healthy glow.

#2. pH Balance

It is important to maintain a good pH balance in your skin. The pH of any substance ranges from 0-14 with 14 containing the most alkaline and 0 being highly acidic. A pH value of 7 is neutral and is the exact pH value of pure water. The reason you need to drink more water is to ensure that your pH value is balanced, giving you healthy skin. The reason it is important to wash your skin thoroughly with water after using face wash is to maintain the correct pH balance.

#3. Flush Toxins

Drinking water will flush out the toxins in your body, especially the harmful toxins that can take a toll on your overall health. By increasing your water intake, you can flush out the toxins in your body to improve the health of your skin and your body. Many people go on juice diets in order to flush out toxins, but maintaining a healthy diet and drinking water will help flush out toxins just the same.

#4. Reduces Wrinkles

Water keeps your body hydrated and refreshed and helps maintain your skin’s elasticity. People who drink large amounts of water are less likely to suffer from scars, wrinkles, and soft lines and they won’t show as many signs of aging as those who drink little amounts of water.  As you grow older, it is tougher for your body to retain water, so by inputting more water into your system, you are helping your body and your skin stay hydrated.

#5. Prevents Pimples and Acne

Certain kinds of toxins will clog your small pores on your epidermis and can cause issues like acne and pimples. By drinking more water, you ensure that you won’t suffer from severe pimples and acne. The more hydrated your skin, the less your pores will clog.

#6. Moisturize

Not only should you drink a lot of water, eight glasses a day to be exact, but you should also use it to clean your skin thoroughly. It may not seem ideal to take a bath or shower every day, especially during the colder months, but it is great for your skin to cleanse your body with water to clear our and unclog pores to keep your skin moist and healthy.

#7. Elasticity

If you have a lack of elasticity in your skin, it may be that you are dehydrated. To check your skin’s elasticity, gently pinch your skin and see if it bounces back. If it doesn’t bounce back, you need to drink more water to hydrate yourself and to plump up your cells. Areas such as the skin under your eyes can become dark if you lost elasticity and are not hydrated.

How much water should you be drinking a day?

The amount of water you should drink in a day depends on metabolism, weight, height and your daily routine. Generally, adults should drink between 5 and 8 glasses of water everyday, and even more if needed. Always make sure you are drinking at least six glasses a day to stay hydrated and healthy.

From helping your skin maintain elasticity, to reducing wrinkles and fine lines, water can do amazing things for your skin and for your overall health. Colon cleansing: Is it helpful or harmful?

Colon cleansing is normally used as preparation for medical procedures such as a colonoscopy. However, some alternative medicine practitioners offer colon cleansing for other purposes, such as detoxification.

But colon cleansing — also called a colonic or a colonic irrigation — for such purposes isn’t necessary. That’s because your digestive system and bowel already eliminate waste material and bacteria from your body.

During a colon cleanse, large amounts of water — sometimes up to 16 gallons (about 60 liters) — and possibly other substances, such as herbs or coffee, are flushed through the colon. This is done using a tube that’s inserted into the rectum. In some cases, smaller amounts of water are used and are left to sit in the colon for a short time before being removed.

Proponents of colon cleansing believe that toxins from your gastrointestinal tract can cause a variety of health problems, such as arthritis and high blood pressure. They believe that colon cleansing improves health by removing toxins, boosting your energy and enhancing your immune system. However, there’s no evidence that colon cleansing produces these effects or is beneficial at all.

And colon cleansing can sometimes be harmful. In fact, coffee enemas sometimes used in colon cleansing have been linked to several deaths. Colon cleansing can also cause less serious side effects, such as cramping, bloating, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.

Other potential concerns with colon cleansing include:

  • Dehydration
  • A tear in the rectum (perforation)
  • Infection
  • A change in your electrolyte balance, which can be dangerous if you have kidney or heart disease or other health problems

If you choose to try colon cleansing, take these precautions:

  • Check with your conventional medical provider first, especially if you take any medications or have any health problems, such as kidney or heart disease.
  • Make sure your colon-cleansing practitioner is reputable and uses disposable equipment that hasn’t been previously used.
  • Get a list of specific herbal ingredients and amounts in any colon-cleansing products you use — some ingredients can cause health problems.

Diet cleanses: 5 ways to cleanse your body in 1 day

While there is no such thing as a one-day miracle fix for overindulging, it can help to hit the reset button every once in a while — giving you a little push towards feeling better stat and making healthier long-term decisions.

Here are five tips to help you cleanse, de-bloat and set your diet and health back on the right track in just one day:

Start with lemon water.

Start your day by waking up with a glass of warm or cold lemon water. The pectin from the lemon aids in digestion, helping to make lemon a phenomenal detoxifying food. Water with lemon also helps curb your appetite and boosts satiety.

Energizing your digestive tract sounds like a great way to start the day, right? The bonus is the little wedge of lemon bobbing in your cup, which reminds your brain, “Hey, I’m making healthy choices today!”

2. De-bloat with breakfast.

After water, fuel yourself with food!

It will benefit your metabolism after a night of sleep. When doing a mini-cleanse, the advice I give to clients is to skip the bread, cereal or any version of them at breakfast as they will cause your body to retain more water, and instead focus your attention on protein, which will provide satiety. An egg-and-salmon scramble is a perfect combo of protein and metabolism-boosting omega-3s to start the day.

Or if you’re on the go, opt instead for an easy gut healthy smoothie.

3. Clean up your diet.

Make sure to eat breakfast, lunch, dinner and at least one snack (absolutely no skipping meals!) and ensure they consist of whole, real foods only. Eating consistently throughout the day will help you lay the foundation for ongoing healthy eating. I’m talking loads of veggies, lean protein such as grass-fed steak, chicken, fish, eggs and healthy fats from nuts, seeds or olives, avocado or coconut.

Ditch the packaged, processed foods today (even the “healthy” versions). This will ensure you are taking out excess sodium, artificial ingredients and sugar from your diet. Also, ditch the salt shaker and instead use only herbs and spices to flavor your food. You’ll find this can help make a big difference in how you look and feel. Even after one day!

4. Have an afternoon tea.

Drink a cup of dandelion root tea with your afternoon cucumber and almond snack. Trust me, this one is important. Dandelion can help improve digestion, and being properly hydrated is linked to everything from a healthy metabolism to energy and good skin health. If dandelion isn’t your thing, go for green tea for an antioxidant and metabolic boost.

5. Get moving!

Increasing your heart rate will mean an increase in blood flow. This, in turn, will help your body to flush out toxins all on its own. You don’t even need to hit a gym to get your sweat sesh in, here’s a quickie workout I do just about anywhere. The takeaway here is to rev your heart rate, break a sweat, and get in a better mindset to kick it up a notch again tomorrow.

How to cleanse the body with water – Vodovoz.RU

Comment on

What is the essence of cleansing the body with water? Strictly at the appointed hours, you must drink a certain amount of water. In 10 minutes, water cleans the intestines, in 30-40 minutes, the kidneys are cleansed, and in 2 hours, water cleans the entire body, contributing to blood thinning. Water purification is the so-called fasting days, when you cannot eat anything for 1-2 days or you must follow a diet during all fasting days. This is done so that the body does not slag again.

The longer you cleanse, the better your body will be. It can be cleaned up to a month, but the “beginner” cannot stand such long periods. The advantages of water purification are obvious: it does not require any special financial costs, the procedure can be easily adjusted to the individual regimen of the day, cleansing helps to lose weight and improve well-being.

There are several effective methods for cleaning with water. In this article, we will introduce you to three of the most popular.

1. Drinking cleansing.

The easiest way to completely cleanse the body. It is necessary to drink water every day at the same time, preferably non-carbonated mineral water without any additives. The last water intake should be 3-4 hours before bedtime.

Scheme for 3 days : Drink 3 liters of water in small doses during the day. It is better not to eat anything in these lengths, but if it is difficult to refuse food, then you can use buckwheat, apples or kefir in small quantities. This cleansing is recommended twice a month.

Scheme for the week : drink 2.5 liters per day with a light vegetarian diet. Recommended to be done every 3 months.

Scheme for a month : the daily dosage of water is taken at the rate of 30 ml per 1 kg of weight. It is necessary to reduce the size of the portions and avoid unhealthy, fatty and fried foods. It is recommended to hold it once every six months.

2.Hot cleansing.

The increased temperature of the water allows chemical compounds to be broken down, breaking them down into smaller particles, which are removed more easily and faster. Cleaning with hot water cleanses the blood, blood vessels and removes excess salts. For such purification, heated unboiled drinking water without additives is suitable.

Hot cleansing should not be carried out in case of gastrointestinal diseases, as it can damage the mucous membranes. This method is also not suitable for people with renal and hepatic insufficiency and the presence of stones.

3. Mineral cleansing.

Mineralized or mineral water not only cleanses the body, but also compensates for the lack of leachable substances. The body will constantly receive the necessary sodium, magnesium, calcium, chlorine, hydrocarbonates, sulfates.

Scheme for the week : half an hour before each main meal, drink 200 ml of water. Every hour after the main meal, drink 200 ml of magnesium mineral water.

Scheme for 10 days : during the day, drink 1 liter of mineral water and low-fat kefir. Eat oatmeal for breakfast, fresh vegetable salad for lunch, and a green apple for dinner.

Scheme for two weeks : 200 ml of water 20 minutes before meals 4 times a day.

Scheme for a month : 250 ml 30 minutes before meals 3 times a day.

It is worth carefully studying the composition of the mineral water. Too much salt can negatively affect joints, and too much carbon dioxide can lead to digestive problems.

Take care of your health and help your body to heal. You can order water both for purification and for consumption at Vodovoz.RU without unnecessary hassle and with savings for your free time and budget.

90,000 Is Eight Glasses of Water Daily a Medical Myth?

  • Claudia Hammond

If you want healthy and glowing skin, drink plenty of water. This well-known recommendation has almost no scientific evidence.

Photo author, Jez Timms / Unsplash

Any advice on skin care and a healthy lifestyle must include a paragraph about plenty of water. It supposedly cleanses the body of harmful toxins, promotes skin health.

Different sources can find different values of the minimum rate.

American doctors, for example, advise drinking at least eight glasses a day. In hot climates, you need to drink more water to replace the loss of fluid from sweating.

However, no matter how much water we are advised to consume daily, this recommendation is based on the same principle.

A sufficient amount of water in the body supposedly acts as a kind of skin moisturizer that works from the inside.

This fact seems so obvious that it is hard to believe how little scientific research has been done in this area.

But the problem is that water, unlike medical and cosmetic products, is not a patented product, so it is rather difficult to find people willing to fund such research.

The amount of water you need depends on the climate in which you live, your level of physical activity and your diet

Dermatologist Ronnie Wolfe from the Kaplan Medical Center in Israel found only one study on this topic, the conclusions of which were rather contradictory.

After four weeks of the experiment, the participants who consumed more mineral water had a decrease in skin elasticity. Those who drank ordinary tap water, on the contrary, had a denser skin.

However, regardless of the type of water, the smoothness of the skin and the number of wrinkles in the representatives of both groups remained at the same level as before the experiment.

However, this does not mean that dehydration does not affect the skin. If the body lacks fluid, the skin becomes less elastic.

This can be checked as follows. Squeeze a small area of skin with your fingers, then release and watch how quickly it smoothes out.

If the skin stays in this position for a few moments, you are dehydrated, and you need to urgently do something about it.

On the other hand, more is not always better. It’s like saying, “If malnutrition harms the body, then overeating should be beneficial.

(Not) obvious advice

Another common myth is that the body somehow retains excess water. However, it depends on how quickly you drink it.

If, for example, you drain several glasses of water in 15 minutes, it will all come out with the urine.

But if the same amount of water is slowly drunk in three hours, most of the fluid will remain in the body.

Signs to the photo,

After four weeks of the experiment, the participants who consumed more mineral water had a decrease in skin elasticity

The conclusions of one study still indicate that half a liter of water can significantly improve blood circulation in the capillaries of the skin …

But the problem is that the skin condition was assessed only thirty minutes after the participants drank water.

In addition, the experiment did not show whether drinking water improves the color and tone of the skin.

In fact, the youthfulness of the skin is influenced not only by its moisture content, but also by many other factors, for example, genetics, sun activity or smoking.

It is not clear where the theory of eight glasses of water came from at all.

Water is by far the most important nutrient for our body.On average, a person lives without water for no more than three days, and, of course, its health benefits are undeniable.

A 2010 review of studies showed, for example, that adequate drinking water intake can significantly reduce the recurrence rate of urolithiasis.

However, there is really no evidence of any other benefits of high fluid intake.

Signs to the photo,

Listen to your body!

Researchers are not unanimous about how much water should be consumed to cleanse the kidneys of toxins, and whether water helps to reduce appetite.

The amount of water you need depends on the climate in which you live, your level of physical activity and your diet.

Another myth is the idea that another liquid is not taken into account. But this is not the case. For example, regular pizza consists of 40-49% water.

The proportion of water we get from food depends on where you live.

In the USA it is 22%. In Greece, where the diet includes more fruits and vegetables, this percentage is much higher.

So, the idea that increasing the daily amount of water is good for the skin has little scientific support.

Therefore, the question of how much water we really should drink every day remains unanswered.

However, since this rate depends on the climate and your physical activity, when deciding how much water to drink, listen exclusively to your body.

Which water is better to drink: boiled or raw?

As we wrote earlier, our body needs water every day.

Each person has their own individual, but extremely important rate of simple water per day, which contributes to the correct functioning of all organs and good health. But what kind of water should you drink?

    Raw or boiled?

It is more useful for the body to drink raw water, as it contains important trace elements: magnesium, calcium, sodium, etc. After boiling, these components settle on heating elements, and the water loses its beneficial properties. In addition, heat treatment pushes an equally important element out of the water – oxygen, and therefore, water loses the property of a transport liquid and can form edema.

“Raw” is considered to be bottled still water, spring water and tap water. The best choice is water in a bottle, as its safety is guaranteed by the manufacturer. To drink tap water or a natural source with health benefits, you need to make sure it is safe – conduct a chemical analysis that will show if there are any harmful impurities or dangerous bacteria in the water. It is also a good solution to use a special filter.

Speaking about the advantages of boiled water, it is worth noting that this method of processing removes the liquid from harmful bacteria and makes the water safer. If you prefer to drink boiled water, then try to adhere to the following rules:

    • Let the water stand for 2-3 hours before boiling;
    • Turn off the kettle at the very beginning of water boiling;
    • Do not store boiled water; drink it fresh.

    Or maybe a mineral one?

Mineral water is a gift from nature. It contains many trace elements and salts from the soil. The type of water depends on the amount of minerals, it can be: dining room, medical dining room and medicinal. If the table “mineral water” can be drunk daily without harm to the body, then the medical and medical-table should be used with caution and only as prescribed by the doctor.

    Warm or cold?

It is believed that it is most beneficial to drink water at room temperature or heated. Such water is better absorbed and cleanses the body. Hot water is useful in the morning on an empty stomach, it is able to “wake up” the body, free from toxins and speed up metabolism.

In turn, cold water is absorbed worse. It lingers in the stomach until it heats up and therefore cannot effectively fulfill its main mission – hydration. In addition, drinking cold water on an empty stomach can stress the body, which can cause weakness and even decreased immunity.

90,000 Cleansing the Five Elements – Simple Tips

Sadhguru gives us simple methods to cleanse the five elements and looks at ways to detoxify and cleanse the body naturally.

Sadhguru: The body is essentially a play of five elements: water, earth, air, fire and space. In India, they say that the body is a puppet, which consists of five elements. In composition, the body is 72% water, 12% earth, 6% air, 4% fire, and the remaining 6% is space or ether.

How these five elements behave in your system literally defines everything in you. Bhuta means the elements. Bhuta shuddhi means to purify the elements, i.e. free from physical nature. Bhuta shuddhi is the basic sadhana in yoga that aims to overcome the limitations of the physical and become open to a dimension that is beyond the physical.

There are a few simple steps by which you can naturally practice bhuta shuddhi. This is not the most powerful bhuta shuddhi process, but with it you can purify the five elements to some extent.

Of the five elements, we are most interested in water. Water needs special attention, as it makes up 72% of our system and has a colossal memory. It is helpful to put a few neem or tulsi leaves in the water. They do not purify chemically, but activate the water and fill it with energy. It is also beneficial to keep water in a copper vessel – this imparts beneficial properties to the water.

The element earth accounts for 12%. From whose hands the food you consume comes from, and how you eat and how you feel about it all make a big difference. But most importantly, the food we eat is life. Other forms give their lives to support ours. If we eat with immense gratitude to all living things that have given their lives to support our lives, food will affect you in a completely different way.

Air accounts for 6%.Among those six percent, your breathing is 1% or less. Everything else happens in different ways. You are influenced not only by the air you breathe, but also by how you handle the air that is inside you. You need to take care of this one percent too, but if you live in a big city, then the choice of which air to breathe is not great. So it will be useful to go for walks in the park or walk along the lake.

Especially if you have children, it is very important to go out into nature with them at least once a month – not to the cinema, because in the limited volume of air in the cinema, the sounds, intentions or emotions that occur on the screen are imprinted in the minds of people.Instead of taking the kids to the movies, walk the river with them, teach them how to swim or climb a mountain. For this you do not need to travel to the Himalayas. Even a small hill for a child is already a mountain. Even a large stone will suffice. Climb up and sit on one of them. Children will love it and it will be good for their fitness. You, too, will improve your form, your body and mind will begin to function differently and, most importantly, you will be in contact with the creation that the Creator created.

You can also influence the fire that burns within you. Be in the sun every day because the sunlight is not yet polluted. Fortunately, no one can pollute it. What kind of fire is burning inside you – the fire of greed, hatred, anger, love, or the fire of compassion? If you take care of this, you will not need to worry about physical and mental well-being – it will all come naturally.

    Akash (Ether)

Akash is a mediator between the universe and the source of the universe.

If we properly support the other four elements, the ether will take care of itself. If you know how to enlist the support of the Akasha element, your life will be blessed.

90,000 how it happens and how to deal with wrinkles

Aging of the facial skin: how it happens and how to deal with wrinkles

Aging is an inevitable process that happens to any living organism. Now that the life expectancy of the average person has increased, but at the same time fashion standards dictate their own rules and oblige us to be young, beautiful and athletic, the topic of resisting aging is becoming more and more popular. The desire to keep your face and body attractive for as long as possible is quite natural, however, unfortunately, no one managed to avoid old age.

The processes of age-related changes in the skin affect all its layers. Cell division of the epidermis becomes slower and the skin becomes thinner and more vulnerable. The loss of moisture increases, which skin cells replenish with more and more difficulty. New collagen and elastin fibers are not produced, and those that are still there gradually lose their ability to retain water. With age, the hormonal background of the body also changes, which also leaves its mark on the processes that occur in the skin.

Everyone, when the time comes, will face the first signs of aging. For some, this will happen earlier, for others later – it all depends on hereditary factors, habitual lifestyle, ability to withstand stress, nutrition, ecology and other parameters. The first signs of aging most often appear on the skin, and primarily on the face. If the body is usually covered with clothing that protects the skin from harmful external influences, then the skin of the face, despite the care, remains unprotected. In addition, the skin on the face differs in structure from the skin of the body: both the epidermis itself and the fat layer under it are much thinner, therefore, with age, mimic wrinkles appear on the face, and the so-called gravitational wrinkles, which have arisen as a result of sagging soft tissues, and the usual static caused by a decrease in skin tone.

Age-related changes affect not only the skin – the entire body ages and wears out.Naturally, this is reflected in the face, but it often happens that the external signs of incipient aging are ahead of the internal ones, or vice versa – lag behind them. Aging can be either natural, programmed at the cellular level, or premature, which depends on external influences (lifestyle, bad habits, diets, nutrition, ecology) and various internal factors (illness, medication, active facial expressions). For example, people who spent a lot of time in the sun and wind in their youth, or who work hard and hard, will see their first signs of aging after 20 years, but those who are lucky with heredity, with the ecological situation, in the end – with a beautician, manage to look younger for a long time than their age, recorded in their passport.

Taking into account such characteristics of aging, it is customary to distinguish the chronological and biological age of each individual. Chronological age is the number that appears in the passport. But with biological age it is more difficult, its number cannot be determined and it depends on many factors: both external (stress, ecology, bad habits) and internal (heredity, medication). This makes one think: if the biological age can be less than the chronological age, then are there any regularities that determine the fact of aging, and how can this aging be delayed, having learned these regularities?

First of all, you need to find out what causes skin aging, in addition to the natural processes of slowing down metabolism and wear and tear of internal organs.

Gravity . No matter how unexpected it may sound, it is under the influence of gravity that the skin that has lost its elasticity begins to sag on the face. There is only one way to resist this phenomenon (not taking into account the surgical ones) – to strengthen the facial muscles on which the skin rests. People who regularly do massage and do exercises for the muscles of the face really look better than their peers who do not do such exercises.

Sun. Everyone knows about the dangers of ultraviolet radiation.Dangerous beta radiation can penetrate into the lower, deep layers of the skin, destroying cells and collagen fibers, causing the appearance of free radicals, reducing the regenerative capacity. Both types of radiation are present even in ordinary daylight, which should be borne in mind when leaving the house – unprotected skin is exposed, albeit insignificantly, but still dangerous to ultraviolet radiation.

In small quantities, it is even useful, but if you get too carried away with tanning, it will accelerate dehydration of the skin, which is a direct path to dryness and wrinkles.
It is not necessary to completely abandon the sun, but the skin must be protected from excess ultraviolet radiation. Even in our latitudes, the sun is enough to get burns on the beach in summer, well, and the daily portion of ultraviolet radiation that we receive when we go outside is sufficient to cause photoaging processes.

To resist the damaging effects of the sun’s rays, you need to sunbathe before 11 o’clock or after 16 o’clock in the afternoon, since at this time the activity of the sun decreases compared to the peak at noon. You need to sunbathe in a solarium little by little, for the minimum time allowed for a particular skin type. Yes, the result will not be noticeable from the very first visit to the solarium, but if you repeat this procedure once a week, then it will not harm, and the skin will give a healthy and natural color.

When leaving the house in hot sunny weather, it is imperative to cover your head, preferably a hat with a visor or brim. A cap, panama or hat will protect your head from overheating, and a shade from the visor or brim will protect your face from direct sunlight. Sunglasses will not be superfluous either. They are necessary even in winter, when the sun not only shines from above, but also reflects off the snowdrifts.

Day creams for skin care should be chosen those that include a sunscreen filter. The same applies to decorative cosmetics – most manufacturers already include UV filters in their foundations and lipsticks without fail. For daily use, it is not necessary to choose products with the maximum protection factor, an SPF with a value of 10-15 will suffice.

The disadvantage of sunscreens with chemical filters is that they can penetrate the bloodstream through the skin and can cause allergies, so you need to choose those products that contain titanium dioxide or zinc oxide. These are very finely ground mineral substances that reflect the sun’s rays, preventing them from penetrating deep into the skin, while they themselves are safe.

To many, these actions may seem unnecessary fuss, but in reality, care and protection are not superfluous.Ultraviolet is invisible and its effect may be quite insignificant today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, but over time, these insignificant doses of radiation will make themselves felt, and if there is an opportunity to delay this moment, then it is foolish not to use it. In the end, it depends only on a specific person how he will look at 50 years old. It is clear that not in the same way as at 20, but still, it is within the power of each of us not to turn into a decrepit old man or an old woman by our half-century anniversary – after all, there may be as much time ahead of an equally interesting life!

The third factor causing aging is facial expressions .There is no escape from it, like from gravity with the sun – we talk, eat, experience different emotions, and for all this we use a lot of facial muscles. It is the mimic wrinkles that appear the very first. As the expression muscles move, they stretch the elastic and collagen fibers of the connective tissues. In young skin, these fibers retain moisture, but with age their number decreases, and their ability to retain water decreases.

Fighting with facial expressions is pointless, you can only train yourself to control your habits of squinting, wrinkling your forehead, moving your eyebrows with a “house”.Botox injections can partly help in this, but this is at the request and capabilities of a particular person. Someone categorically does not accept such interventions, but someone would be happy, yes, allergies, lack of money, or a sad example of an unsuccessful injection in front of your eyes.

Nutrition also plays an important role in aging or rejuvenating the body. Everyone has known for a long time that some products are useful and some are harmful, but for some reason very few people take this information seriously. It is enough to see how many catering establishments have proliferated, where you can refresh yourself with fast food. Cola, hamburgers, all kinds of pastries, fried and spicy foods, sugar, coffee, alcohol – how often does this happen in the average person’s diet? Hardly anyone thought, but, most likely, more often than cereals, soup, vegetables and fruits, baked or boiled lean meat or fish, which are much healthier.

In addition to what we eat, it is also important how much we eat. Delicious food is attractive in itself, not to mention the fact that it is a decoration of any holiday. For some reason, it is still customary to celebrate holidays at the table, and not at a friendly football match, for example. Sweets and chocolates are an indispensable attribute of office tea parties, and they are also so good for seizing stress! Most people have a very warm attitude to food. Of course, you shouldn’t give up tasty food in favor of something unappetizing, but food is the case when you need and can limit yourself. If a person cannot cope with gravity, then he can successfully control the contents of his plate.

The fifth factor on which aging depends is the quantity and quality of drinking pure water. Fortunately, this can also be controlled. As you know, the skin needs water to maintain its normal moisture level. You need to drink at least one and a half to two liters of clean water a day, and even more in the hot season to avoid dehydration, leading to dry skin and wrinkles.

In addition, water also cleanses the body of toxins and toxins, so the water you drink should be enough for this responsible business. In addition, it must be clean – otherwise, what kind of waste disposal can we talk about?

The sixth factor is lifestyle. This includes a lot: the regularity and duration of sleep, the presence or absence of physical activity, the atmosphere at home and at work, which can be calm and peaceful, and can be the cause of prolonged stress. Ideally, you should go to bed at the same time, and you should have enough sleep to get enough rest. Likewise, at certain times you need to have breakfast, lunch and dinner.Moderate physical activity is required, which maintains muscles and blood vessels in tone and does not allow excess weight to accumulate. Excessive loads on wear, of course, will not bring any benefit. As for stress, it usually cannot be avoided, so it would be nice to enroll in a yoga class or learn how to relieve stress in a different way, just without resorting to food and alcohol. a place for work and rest, the first signs of aging will not rush.

Bad habits. This is also a very important cause of rapid aging. Cigarettes and alcohol are present in the lives of many people. Usually a drinking or smoking person is well aware of the dangers of his habit for health, but prefers to turn a blind eye to it. And in vain – the destructive effect of alcohol and tobacco is not noticeable, but, nevertheless, it is inevitable. Alcohol is a poison that causes dehydration of the body and the death of living cells. With age, they divide and multiply more and more slowly, and if they are also poisoned with alcohol – how can we talk about preserving youth? Smoking is also a short road to old age.The cells cease to receive the required amount of useful oxygen, but they receive a lot of harmful things, which makes the skin of the face flabby and dull.

There are many other reasons that bring aging closer, for example, unfavorable ecology, illness, taking medications, ruthless diets, and the like. It is not possible to protect oneself from something 100%, but it is quite possible to keep something under control. Be that as it may, following at least a few of the above recommendations will help preserve youth and health longer.

    Signs of aging facial skin:

    1. The very first signs of incipient skin aging are, of course, wrinkles. At first, mimic ones appear, then they become static, then gravitational ones appear, caused by sagging skin.
    2. Thinning of the skin. It becomes drier and more sensitive, subcutaneous vessels become visible. Dark circles under the eyes begin to appear more and more often, rosacea is possible.
    3. Skin aging. This is expressed in a change in skin color – it becomes dull, gray, its sagging begins, primarily noticeable by the deepening of the nasolabial folds.
    4. Porosity of the skin.
    5. Deformation, that is, sagging of the skin, about which it is often said that the oval of the face has swam.
    6. Senile pigmentation, papillomas.

Depending on how these symptoms appear, it is customary to distinguish four main types of aging.

The initial type of aging, with which visible age-related changes begin in all people. The bottom line is that in the morning, after waking up, the face looks fresh and rested, but by the evening, after a whole day, it becomes tired. The corners of the lips go down, the nasolabial fold appears sharper, dark circles appear under the eyes. The complexion becomes dull, and although the oval of the face has not changed yet, it is still noticeable that the face is already trying to “float” down.

This is due to the fact that the tone of the facial muscles decreases, the lymph flow is disturbed, which leads to stagnation of fluid in the tissues. Skin care during this period should consist of increasing muscle tone, nourishing and moisturizing the skin. To do this, it is necessary to perform special exercises for the face, do lymphatic drainage massage, use caring creams, which contain collagen and hyaluronic acid.

The second type of aging, as well as the next two, depends on the structure of the soft tissues of the face: how developed the subcutaneous muscles and adipose tissue. According to the second type, aging occurs in people with thin, sensitive and dry skin of the face, poorly developed facial muscles and a thin layer of subcutaneous fat. As a rule, the first wrinkles on such skin appear early. The face seems to dry out, many small wrinkles appear, the skin becomes thin, “parchment”. However, the oval of the face with such aging remains clear and does not float.

This type of aging is associated primarily with the thinning of collagen and elastin fibers, which leads to dehydration of the skin. In order to preserve and maintain dry skin, which this type of aging expects in the future, you need to take care of it from a young age: use moisturizing and nourishing masks and creams with hyaluronic acid, collagen, vitamins. Such skin, more than any arch, needs protection from wind, sun and cold.

The third type of aging is the lot of people with thin and weak facial muscles, but a developed layer of subcutaneous fat. Most people who are prone to overweight are exposed to it. They have large facial features, the skin is most often oily or combined, the muscles of the face are thin, but the layer of subcutaneous fat is developed, which is why the soft tissues of the face are massive and prone to sagging. This is exactly what happens with this type of aging: the oval of the face is deformed, so-called flews, bags under the eyes and a “hood” on the upper eyelids, a second chin appear, nasolabial folds appear sharper, the nose becomes more massive. However, those who age by the third type have few fine lines.

Aging according to this type occurs because the muscles of the face weaken, lose their tone and cannot hold the massive layer of fiber, which goes down and pulls the skin with it. To maintain the youthfulness of the skin prone to the third type of aging, any types of lifting procedures are suitable, charging the facial muscles and a massage that maintains its oval is mandatory.

The fourth type of aging is the opposite of the previous one: persons exposed to it have well-developed facial muscles, but the layer of subcutaneous fat is thin. Thanks to this feature, such faces do not age for a long time – elastic muscles easily support a small weight of fiber and skin. But at the time of the inevitable age-related changes, the entire facial muscles weakens and sags, sharp and deep wrinkles appear, the cheekbones and chin protrude sharply, the soft tissues of the face do not sag, since there is little subcutaneous fat, but as if they dry out. The oval of the face remains practically unchanged. In this case, deep wrinkles appear in place of mimic ones: on the forehead, around the eyes, near the mouth, the nasolabial folds become sharper, but the rest of the skin remains even, although its pigmentation is possible.Usually, this type of aging is characteristic of representatives of the Mongoloid race.

To care for skin prone to this type of aging, stimulation of the facial muscles is necessary. It is achieved through charging and various types of massage. Shown are creams with hyaluronic acid, collagen, coenzymes.

Basic principles of countering premature aging of facial skin

    1. Moisturizing the skin from the inside. No creams can help maintain the natural moisture levels of the skin if there is not enough water throughout the body. The recommendation to drink up to two liters of water per day is not just empty words, but very practical advice.
    2. Purification. With this, too, everything is clear – if the skin is not cleaned, then dirt from the outside and toxins from the outside will clog the pores and prevent the skin from breathing. At the same time, it is very important to cleanse the skin correctly. For example, you should not wash dry skin with soap, it is better for it to use products suitable for this particular skin type. Oily, by the way, will not be happy with soap either – it will provoke a more intense production of sebum.
    3. Humidification outside. This includes the daily use of nourishing and moisturizing creams suitable for a particular skin type, as well as homemade masks.
    4. Protection of the skin from ultraviolet radiation.
    5. Exercise to strengthen the muscles of the face.

Exercise to strengthen the muscles of the face

    1. Mandatory visit to a beautician who will help you to correctly develop a program of actions to maintain the appearance of the skin.
    2. Application of anti-aging care: both ready-made creams and homemade masks.
    3. Performing exercises to keep the facial muscles in good shape.
    4. Facial massage.

Aging is an inevitable process, but it is very important to know that it depends on a particular person when the first signs appear on his face. This means that regular and competent self-care can delay the moment when the skin ceases to be young and beautiful, and old age itself will be noble and elegant.
