The Promise of Hypnotherapy for Smoking Cessation

Quitting smoking can be a daunting challenge, and many smokers have tried a variety of methods in their quest to kick the habit. From nicotine replacement therapy to counseling, the search for an effective solution often leads some to consider hypnotherapy as a potential option. But does the research support the use of hypnosis as a reliable means to stop smoking?

The History of Hypnotherapy in Smoking Cessation

Hypnotherapy has been employed in psychological treatment since the 1950s, when psychiatrist Milton H. Erickson demonstrated the potential of hypnosis as an adjunct to traditional therapy. The medical community recognized hypnotherapy as a valid procedure in 1958, and the first documented use of hypnosis to help people quit smoking was reported by Dr. Herbert Spiegel in a 1970 journal article. Spiegel’s “Spiegel technique” involved focusing on three key ideas: smoking is poisonous to the body, the body is needed to live, and respecting and protecting the body is essential.

What to Expect from Hypnotherapy Sessions

During a typical hypnotherapy session, the therapist will begin by gathering information about the client’s medical history and the issue they are seeking to address. They will then provide an explanation of hypnosis and guide the client into a trance-like state. The therapist may teach self-hypnosis techniques to reinforce the suggestions made during the session. Multiple sessions are often recommended to solidify the desired changes.

The Cost and Accessibility of Hypnotherapy

The national average cost for a hypnotherapy session is around $85, but rates can vary significantly across different regions, with costs on the East and West coasts sometimes reaching up to $125 per session. Individuals interested in exploring hypnotherapy for smoking cessation can seek referrals from professional organizations or their healthcare providers to find qualified and accredited hypnotherapists in their local area.

The Effectiveness of Hypnosis for Smoking Cessation

While some individuals have reported success in quitting smoking with the help of hypnotherapy, the scientific evidence on its effectiveness is mixed. A review of existing studies found no conclusive evidence that hypnotherapy is more effective than other smoking cessation aids or no treatment at all. The success of hypnosis may depend on the individual’s faith in the therapist and their willingness to be in a passive, suggestible state of mind.

Weighing the Pros and Cons of Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy can be a useful complementary therapy when used in conjunction with other treatments for issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, and pain. It does not involve the use of any medications, which may appeal to some smokers. However, the major criticism of hypnotherapy for smoking cessation is the lack of robust scientific evidence supporting its efficacy. Additionally, hypnotherapy is not considered a valid treatment for individuals dealing with substance abuse or mental health disorders, such as alcoholism, drug addiction, or psychotic episodes.

Finding a Qualified Hypnotherapist

When considering hypnotherapy for smoking cessation, it is essential to work with a licensed and certified mental health professional who has received specialized training in hypnosis. Professional organizations, such as the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and the National Board for Certified Clinical Hypnotherapists, can provide referrals to accredited hypnotherapists in your local area. Your healthcare provider may also be able to recommend a trusted and qualified hypnotherapist.

Conclusion

In summary, while some individuals have reported success in quitting smoking with the help of hypnotherapy, the scientific evidence on its effectiveness is mixed. Hypnosis may be a useful complementary therapy, but it is not considered a proven or valid treatment for smoking cessation on its own. Individuals interested in exploring hypnotherapy should work with a licensed and certified mental health professional, and consider it as part of a comprehensive approach to overcoming nicotine addiction.

Will Hypnotherapy Help You Stop Smoking? – Smoking Cessation Center

There are so many ways to quit smoking, and in their quest to stop, many smokers try everything from quitting cold turkey to one-on-one counseling to nicotine patches and gums — or combinations of all of the above. If these stop smoking methods haven’t worked for you, or you just want to take a more holistic approach, you may want to try hypnotherapy.

Research does not support hypnotherapy as a proven means to help people stop smoking. A scientific review of existing studies found no evidence to suggest that hypnotherapy worked better than other smoking cessation aids or no treatment at all.

However, some individuals have reported success in quitting smoking with the help of hypnotherapy. For hypnosis to be successful as a way to stop smoking, the person has to have faith in the therapist and be okay with being in a passive and susceptible state of mind.

A History of Hypnotherapy as Treatment

Hypnotherapy has been used in psychological treatment since the 1950s, when psychiatrist Milton H. Erickson showed the potential of hypnosis as an aid to traditional therapy. The American Medical Association and the American Psychological Association recognized hypnotherapy as a valid medical procedure in 1958.

The first use of hypnotherapy to help people stop smoking was described by Dr. Herbert Spiegel in a 1970 journal article. His hypnotic strategy has become known as the “Spiegel technique” and involves concentration on three main ideas:

  • Smoking is poisonous to your body.
  • You need your body if you want to live.
  • If you want to live, you need to respect and protect your body.

Today, hypnotherapists will suggest that smokers associate cigarettes with unpleasant tastes, odors, or sensations — for instance, that cigarette smoke smells like bus fumes, that the smoke has a nasty taste, or that it will cause you to suffer from dry mouth. They might also suggest that smokers believe that they have lost the desire to smoke and can easily cope with their nicotine withdrawal symptoms.

What To Expect From Hypnotherapy to Stop Smoking

Your hypnotherapist will begin your first session by asking questions about your medical history and the issue that brought you in. He will likely give you an explanation of hypnosis and how it works, and then will guide you into your first trance. The therapist will also probably teach you some self-hypnosis techniques, so you can reinforce the hypnotherapy on your own. Hypnotherapy sessions typically last about an hour.

Multiple sessions to reinforce the suggestions being provided by the hypnotherapist are usually recommended. Most people begin to show progress after four sessions, although hypnotherapy can continue as long as you need to have the suggestions reinforced.

The national average cost for a hypnotherapy session is about $85, but the cost varies widely across the country, with rates on the East and West coasts reaching up to $125.

Pros and Cons of Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy can be successful as a combination therapy, used in conjunction with other treatments for such conditions as stress, anxiety, depression, and pain. Hypnosis also does not involve the use of any medications, which might appeal to smokers who aren’t interested in using drugs or nicotine replacement products.

Keep in mind that hypnotherapy is not dangerous. The hypnotist cannot make you do something you don’t want to do. The greatest risk usually involves the unintended creation of false memories based on suggestions from the hypnotherapist.

As for the drawbacks, the major criticism of hypnotherapy for smoking cessation is that no research to date has proven it works. Also, hypnotherapy is not considered a valid treatment for people who are alcoholics or drug addicts or are dealing with hallucinations and psychotic episodes.

Finding a Hypnotherapist

Hypnotherapy should be performed by a mental health professional who has been licensed and certified and has received special training in hypnosis. Several professional groups can put you in touch with accredited hypnotherapists in your area:

Also ask your doctor, who might be able to recommend a known and trusted hypnotherapist.

Hypnosis to Quit Smoking: Benefits and Risks

Quitting smoking can be a real challenge. But it’s one of the best things you can do for your health. Smoking is a dangerous, even deadly habit. It’s a leading cause of cancer. It also increases your risk for heart attacks, strokes, lung disease, and other health problems, including bone fractures and cataracts.

If nicotine lozenges, patches, chewing gum, counseling, and other smoking cessation methods haven’t helped you kick the habit, don’t give up. Ask your doctor if hypnosis is an option for you. Some studies have shown that hypnosis may help certain people quit smoking.

What Is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is defined as an altered state of awareness in which you appear to be asleep or in a trance. Clinical hypnosis may be used to treat certain physical or psychological problems. For instance, it is frequently used to help patients control pain. It is also used in a wide range of other conditions such as weight issues, speech disorders, and addiction problems.

There is debate about how hypnosis works. Some people believe that when you are hypnotized, you relax and concentrate more, and are more willing to listen to suggestions — such as giving up smoking, for example.

Even though you appear to be in a trance during hypnosis, you are not unconscious. You are still aware of your surroundings, and — despite what many stage performers may claim during an entertaining show — you cannot be made to do anything against your will. In fact, brain tests performed on patients during hypnotism sessions have shown a high level of neurological activity.

Hypnosis for Smokers

During hypnosis for smoking cessation, a patient is often asked to imagine unpleasant outcomes from smoking. For example, the hypnotherapist might suggest that cigarette smoke smells like truck exhaust, or that smoking will leave the patient’s mouth feeling extremely parched.

Spiegel’s method is one popular smoking cessation hypnosis technique that focuses on three main ideas:

  • Smoking poisons the body
  • You need your body to live
  • You should respect your body and protect it (to the extent you’d like to live)

The hypnotherapist teaches the smoker self-hypnosis, and then asks them to repeat these affirmations anytime the desire to smoke occurs.

Does Hypnosis Work?

Hypnosis, in general, does not work for everyone. About one in four people are not able to be hypnotized. When successful, the intensity of hypnosis can vary from person to person.

How well hypnosis works to help people stop smoking depends on who you ask. Study results have been mixed. In 2010, a systematic review of published studies found that there wasn’t enough evidence to support the use of hypnosis. Another review published in 2012 said that studies do support a possible benefit from the use of hypnosis. In discussing alternative methods for quitting smoking on its web site, the American Cancer Society says that while controlled studies have not supported the effectiveness of hypnosis, there is anecdotal evidence that some people have been helped.

Despite some web sites and promotional materials that say otherwise, hypnosis is not an approved therapy by the American Medical Association (AMA). The organization does not have an official position on the use of hypnosis. A position statement regarding the use of the technique for medical and psychological purposes was rescinded by the AMA in 1987.

Researchers who have studied hypnosis say more, well-conducted studies are needed to determine if hypnosis really helps smokers kick the habit for good, but add that hypnosis remains a hopeful approach and has many other benefits. However, the best way to quit may be to combine several techniques. Patients often require several different strategies along the way.

How to Find a Hypnotherapist

If you want to try hypnosis to help you quit smoking, ask your health care provider to recommend a good hypnotherapist.

Here are some tips when looking for a qualified hypnotherapist:

  • Make sure they are licensed, trained, and credentialed. Hypnosis for smoking cessation and other medical or behavioral reasons should only be done by someone who has a current license in a health care field, such as medicine, psychiatry, psychology, or nursing.
  • Ask some tough questions. Ask about their professional training. The American Society for Clinical Hypnosis also suggests asking: “Is this practitioner able to help me without using hypnosis?” If the answer is no, you should look elsewhere.
  • Beware of too-good-to-be true claims or guarantees. Hypnosis does not work for everyone.

Remember, it’s never too late to quit smoking. Doing so has immediate health benefits. And, if you quit smoking before you turn 50, you’ll cut the risk of dying in the next 15 years in half, compared to those who keep lighting up.

How Much Does Hypnosis to Quit Smoking Cost? Is It Affordable?

In this post, we will be talking about hypnosis, how it can help you stop smoking, and how much does a hypnosis session costs to quit smoking? In addition, we’ll share with you free and effective tips to quit smoking.

You’ve been told a million times that smoking doesn’t do any good to your health. It is a deadly habit that you should stop now. Smoking increases your risk of developing 50+ serious health conditions. As they say, every time you light up a cigarette, you’re deducting one minute of your life. Should you stop now? That’s a resounding YES!

Not later, not tomorrow, not next week, NOW! Yes, quitting will be a big challenge, but your willingness will always be more powerful than your desire to smoke. You can do this! There are many methods you can do or products you can try to stop smoking now.

What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis, also called hypnotherapy or hypnotic suggestion is a therapy session on being in a half-conscious state (trance-like state). The person is placed in a state of heightened attention, focused concentration but reduced awareness. Hypnosis is usually done with a hypnotherapist or also called a hypnotist therapist or hypnotist. This form of therapy uses mental images, positive suggestions, self-hypnosis techniques, or guided hypnosis audios.

Others perceive it as mind control or being under a spell, but it really is not. What you see on television, where a hypnotherapist controls a person to do silly things, is not true. Hypnosis is more about being in a meditative state so a person can be more focused. The hypnotherapist or guided audios can help give suggestions on how you can reach your goals.

As for the use of hypnosis to stop smoking, studies and some medical papers suggest that hypnosis, when combined with other smoking cessation techniques, can reduce a person’s craving to smoke, deal with nicotine cravings, and help reduce the negative effects of nicotine withdrawal.

What Are the Benefits of Hypnosis for Smokers?

  • Reduce your desire to smoke or vape
  • To address psychological aspects of smoking addiction
  • Reinforce your desire to stop smoking
  • Can help stick to your smoking cessation goals
  • Help you deal with nicotine withdrawal
  • Beneficial for mental and emotional health

What to Expect From Hypnotherapy to Stop Smoking?

In your first hypnosis session, you can expect your hypnotherapist to ask you basic questions like your medical history, how long you have been smoking, or why you want to quit smoking. Then, expect your hypnotherapist to explain how hypnosis may help quit your smoking habits and how it works.

In the first session, expect your therapist to put you in a trance-state (hypnotized state). Your therapist may also teach you self-hypnosis techniques you can do at home. The whole session may typically last for one hour.

Multiple hypnosis sessions may be recommended if you plan to stop smoking. Hypnotherapists claim that most of their patients show significant progress on the fourth session. However, patients have the freedom to have more sessions to avoid relapse and deal with nicotine withdrawal.

What Is the Success Rate of Hypnosis for Smoking Cessation?

There are different studies and results that suggest the success rate of hypnosis about quitting smoking. May it be quitting smoking cigarettes or smoking weed. Although enough evidence is still needed, many medical studies show the effectiveness of hypnosis in quitting smoking. Here are some of the studies related to hypnotherapy to be successful for quitting smoking:

  • A study conducted in 2019 has linked self-hypnosis to 6-month smoking abstinence for 20-35% of the participants. – A Medical Study by the University of Oxford.
  • A 2017 research states: Hypnosis in combination with other smoking cessation techniques (like nicotine patches or nicotine gums) helped the participants quit smoking and prevent relapse. A randomized controlled smoking cessation trial was conducted at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Out of the 140 participants, 102 of them were able to quit smoking after three days of hypnosis. – Evidence Presented by American Journal of Clinical Hypnosis
  • A 2008 randomized trial study concluded that nicotine patches combined with hypnosis are more effective in quitting smoking long-term compared to standard behavioral counseling. – Evidence presented by San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center

When it comes to the success rate of hypnosis for smoking, it’s safe to say that it may vary from person to person. It will depend on the person’s willingness to quit, state of mind, and having faith in their therapist. Because no matter how many hypnotherapy treatments you attend, if you don’t have the willingness to stop, this is a recipe for disaster.

As for the duration of the treatment, since hypnosis is a solution-based treatment, you can expect the results to be quick. But then again, this will depend on the person, and other combined smoking cessation techniques followed. For some, treatment is achieved on the first session, while it may be longer for some.

I Went To Hypnotherapy To Try To Quit Smoking

“Have you ever been hypnotised before?” she asked while scribbling on a clipboard. No I hadn’t. “…It’s not like TV at all. It’s not going to be like that.”

I stopped looking around the room for a stack of pendulums or giant black and white vortex coins.

“Well I guess you’ve done a lot of reading about it?”

No. I hadn’t done that either. I feel that hypnotism works if you want it to work and I wasn’t about to do a stack of research that might turn me into a sceptic. I really wanted this to work.

I sit back on a long black recliner lounge. The type you imagine in a stereotypical therapist’s office. I notice a waste paper bin next to me filled with half-full packets of cigarettes. Most of them were my favourite brand. What a waste, I couldn’t help but think…

“So you’re here because you’re a smoker?”

Like most smokers, I’ve always thought about quitting and always wanted to. I’ve tried to give up several times with varying levels of success. Once I managed to kick the habit for four months. The last time I tried, I lasted a painful 26 hours. I’ve tried the unpleasant nicotine gum and the absolutely foul nicotine mints. I’ve tried switching to fancy electronic cigarettes. I’ve tried gritting my teeth and going cold turkey. Nothing has worked.

Then I heard that being hypnotised might help to axe the addiction. A friend had told me that his uncle tried it and went from being a pack-a-day smoker to a non-smoker overnight. Another friend told me his room-mate tried it and it made no difference.

At this point, hypnotism was the only thing I could see that I hadn’t tried. So despite the mixed reviews and the $500 (Australian!) price tag, I booked an appointment. I found a practice that has a load of success stories and also has a lifetime guarantee — meaning that if I ever start smoking again I can go back for free. That inspired a bit of confidence.

My hypnotist had the type of strong but soothing voice you’d expect from someone who works in hypnotism or neuro-linguistic programming. Right from our preliminary planning and assessment session, her voice was relaxing.

“You’re quite young to have been smoking for 10 years. How did that start?”

I started smoking when I was 14 years old. Sometimes on the weekends I used to hang out in reserves and carparks with my friends and have one or two cigarettes. It seemed grown up and cool but harmless. One or two cigarettes in a week wouldn’t hurt.

But by the time I was 20 I could no longer hide behind comforting labels like “social smoker” or “occasional smoker”. I was smoking five cigarettes a day plus a whole packet on Friday nights and another whole packet on Saturday nights.

“When you smoked your first few cigarettes that probably didn’t feel so good but it was off-set massively by those other good internal feelings that we get. That feeling of belonging and rebellion. They’re very strong feelings in our subconscious and then we want to repeat those feelings.”

I’d never thought of it like that. I’d always assumed cigarette addictions were to do with a chemical dependency on nicotine. I’d never given a thought to the possibility that I was psychologically addicted. It was an insight I hadn’t expected.

“If cigarettes have become positively associated for you, every time you feel a negative your body tries to move away from that. Your brain will ask ‘what can I do to feel good? Oh yeah, smoking.’ That suggestion becomes almost impossible to ignore.”

When it was time for the session to begin, she turned on a soundtrack of soothing music. The kind you hear in elevators.

“Hypnotism just feels like a relaxed state — like when you’re falling asleep at night and your body relaxes and your mind starts to wander.”

The music transitioned into a montage of waves breaking on the shore.

“All I need you to do is two things, the first thing is just relax and the second thing is just agree with the suggestions. You can do that, can’t you?”

I nodded, feeling nervous.

“We’re going to get down here, to the unconscious mind to change your positive associations. We’re going to change the way you feel about smoking.”

We started with breathing exercises. She asked me to take five deep and measured breaths. I already was feeling very relaxed.

She spoke deeply and slowly as she guided me through a series of images and imagery exercises designed to relax the brain. I followed a leaf blowing in the wind. I stood at the top of spiral staircase and walked down it slowly.

“If you have any errant thoughts, just let them drift away.”

I tried to throw away the thought that a cigarette would go down beautifully right about now.

The rest was a little fuzzy. I drifted in and out of consciousness. At times I was very alert and aware of my surroundings. There are also periods of blankness. But I remember feeling very relaxed, almost like I was floating.

She often pulled me back into consciousness by asking questions I had to answer.

“You see a door. What colour is it Mia?”

Red.

“Does the door open inwards or outwards?”

Outwards.

“Visualise it. Can you do that?”

Yes.

When it was time for me to wake up, she simply counted backwards from ten and told me to open my eyes. I was surprised to feel tears on my face and that a whole hour had passed — it felt like ten minutes. And I didn’t remember crying.

As I sat up, she asked me to open my purse and throw my cigarettes in the waste paper bin with all the other rejected packets. I did.

As I was walking out of the office, I assessed myself and tried to see if I felt any different. I drove home in a sort of trance wondering if it had worked or not. It was too early to tell. Although I later realised that I forgot to have my standard car cigarette. It was a good sign.

~

It’s been a month now. Has it stopped me smoking? Well, no it hasn’t. I had a cigarette the day after my session. I was a little disappointed. The session definitely did not deliver on all of its promises.

The mental shift and positive reassociation that is promised by neuro-linguistic programming doesn’t appear to have worked on me. I still desperately crave cigarettes when I’m bored, hungry or sad. Something that was supposed to have disappeared.

On the upside I do feel a lot more motivated to quit and my attitude has definitely changed. Her explanation and breakdown of the levels of smoking addiction changed my perspective entirely.

Previously, the thought of going a whole day without cigarettes made me feel anxious and shaky but now that thought makes me feel empowered. Every cigarette I don’t have feels like a win instead of feeling like I’m being deprived.

The reason I turned to a hypnotist in the first place is because the mere thought of quitting was just too hard. Every time I pondered quitting, the thought would make me so anxious that I reached for a cigarette to calm my nerves.

I don’t feel like the habit or the addiction is gone. But I’m certainly viewing it in a completely different way. Whether or not that is simply a placebo effect I can’t begin to tell.

This experience has opened my eyes to the fact that my smoking addiction is psychological not just physiological and habitual.

Smoking is a choice I’ve been making. It’s not a compulsion that I have no control over. It’s something I can and will take responsibility for.

I Tried to Stop Smoking Through Hypnosis

I’ve been smoking off and on (mostly on) for 40-plus years. I once quit for a year and a half, but long after the physical cravings were gone, a voice in my head kept nagging me to just have a few.

I’ve hired David Wright to kill (or at least muzzle) that voice. Wright, known as “The Motor City Hypnotist,” got my attention via a press release promoting a “secret weapon to improve your golf game.” I’m a terrible golfer, but I also noted he’s helped people quit smoking.

Since Wright performs hypnosis comedy stage shows in southeast Michigan as well as across the country, I thought he’d like the joke I sent asking if I could get a “two-fer” and fix both of my issues simultaneously. (He advised on taking it one at a time.) I decided to start with the smoking habit. Then I got to thinking: Is hypnosis even legit?

I emailed my friendly Providence doctor. Had he ever prescribed hypnosis? (No.) Did he think it was “bunk?” (He’s often urged me to quit smoking and is for anything that works.)

I also checked to see if paying for this service was allowed with a tax-deferred medical card. (Yes.) Would insurance cover it? That’s a bit fuzzier.

There are mixed signals about hypnosis. The American Medical Association takes a wimpy “no-official-position” stance. The Mayo Clinic gives it thumbs up. Health service giant Cigna states: “Hypnosis is not intended to cure disease but rather to relieve symptoms of illness. Hypnosis has been effective in relieving pain associated with surgery, paralysis, and childbirth. Also, it is widely used to control addictions to drugs, alcohol, food, and smoking.”

Hypnosis is sometimes covered by health insurance (not mine, unfortunately), but it varies by policy and individual case. Locally, Beaumont offers HypnoBirthing to help women through labor and delivery — a method reportedly used by Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, for her three royal births. It involves a combination of breathing exercises, deep relaxation methods, and visualization techniques along with positive thought.

So perhaps it’s all in your head? (Just like that voice urging me to smoke.) I decide to give it a try.

The Skeptics

First things first. I’m a cynical person. That’s OK. So was Wright.

“Believe me, 30 years ago, I was a skeptic before I did this,” he says. Wright graduated in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, then got a master’s in counseling. As a master’s level clinician, he used relaxation and visualization techniques, like “close your eyes, take a deep breath,” he says. “At some point I’m like, ‘You know what, I really am doing hypnosis … getting [clients] into that relaxed state [and] going through suggestions. … Why not just get my certification?’”

There’s no governing body for hypnosis in the United States, and some hypnotists simply get “certified” online. Wright would welcome stricter forms of licensing. “I’m a practicing clinician, [and] I went to school for six and a half years,” he says, adding: “The fact that I have a mental health background … makes it more valuable.”

For now, there’s a semi-sanctioning body. The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis calls itself the “largest U.S. organization for health and mental health care professionals using clinical hypnosis.” Members must be licensed healthcare workers and have a master’s degree.

The crux of hypnosis is about getting into such a relaxed state that the hypnotist can make suggestions to your subconscious mind.

Getting Really Relaxed

“It can work for everybody,” Wright tells me on my first visit. But there needs to be buy-in from the client. If someone says they’re only at four on a scale of one to 10 in their desire to quit smoking, for instance, he’ll tell them to call back when they’re at eight or nine.

“This analogy I use a lot with clients is that when you drive your vehicle, you don’t have to think about consciously all the things you have to do to drive,” he says. “You’ve done it so long. It’s an automatic process. It’s embedded in your subconscious.” He cites an “internal conversation” you might have about smoking, such as: “Oh, I need to quit. If I quit, it’s going to be difficult.”

“We can shut that all down and just get to the root and say, ‘OK, smoking is an inner subconscious habit,’” he says.

Wright knows there are a lot of misconceptions about hypnosis. “The classic … ‘Somebody’s going to make me jump up and down like a chicken or something,’” he says with a laugh. But really, the crux of hypnosis is about getting into such a relaxed state that the hypnotist can make suggestions to your subconscious mind.

Smoking cessation is among Wright’s highest success rate, followed by treatment for anxiety, panic attacks, and insomnia. The goal is to teach you a technique to “shut your mind down and just turn off the gears,” he says.

Wright’s website (motorcityhypnotist.com) notes a cost of $125 per session or three for $325. It states that “most issues can be resolved in two to three sessions with many issues being resolved in just a single session.”

The goal is to teach you a technique to “shut your mind down and just turn off the gears,”
— David Wright, The Motor City Hypnotist

Message Received

“You just are telling your subconscious mind right now that you want to quit,” I hear Wright tell me once he’s got me in a hypnotic state. I know that I’m in that state because I start laughing when he tells me my eyes are feeling so heavy, I can’t open them. (He tells me later that he knew he had me “because you laughed a little bit when I said you can’t open your eyes.”)

Some more messages he suggests:

  • “There are a lot of associations connected with smoking. … When you’re driving … when you’re having coffee. … These connections have been made in your subconscious thinking, but today, we’re removing those connections.”
  • “Simply tell yourself, ‘I was a smoker at one point in my life, but at this point, smoking is just simply something I used to do.’”
  • “There is always something to do that’s better than smoking.”

After the session, he points to a garbage can and asks if I’m ready to throw away my remaining cigarettes. When I hesitate, he asks the “one to 10” question. I admit to a six or seven.

“Typically, I would have said, ‘You know what, let’s wait until you’re a nine … and I’ll have you come back in,’ ” he says.

We decide on a “step-down” approach. “If you’re smoking a pack a day, for the next month, you’re only going to smoke three quarters of a pack a day,” he says. “And then after that you’re going to smoke half a pack a day…” and so forth.

Success! (Sort of)

After that first session, I didn’t immediately light up after leaving Wright’s office. And throughout the day, I felt fewer urges to smoke than normal.

Wright also emailed me an MP3 to listen to. To my surprise, and again, amusement, I found I was able to hypnotize myself at home, simply by following prompts on the nearly 30-minute tape and staring at an old clock on our fireplace mantle.

I went back the following week and did a second session. Another is planned in a few weeks.

The bottom line? At press time, I’m smoking nearly half of what I used to — without feeling mental anguish. Normally, I’m also a pretty hyper guy. My wife says that Wright’s ability to simply get me to sit still and relax for nearly a half hour a day is in itself totally worth the money.

So, I’ll try another session and keep scaling back on the smokes. And then? Maybe I’ll go back and fix that lousy golf game!

How Much Does Hypnotherapy Cost In 2021?

What is a Hypnotherapist?

Hypnotherapy is a type of hypnosis used by health professionals to help you overcome a mental or physical condition, including trauma and addiction. It can also help build positive habits. If you want to try hypnotherapy but you’re concerned about how it works, your hypnotherapist is there to answer any questions before you commit to anything.

Initially, you’ll have a friendly chat about the problem you’re facing and the methods that will be used to address it during the hypnotherapy. After that, your therapist will bring you into a relaxed state where you will work on what you want to change. Your therapist will then bring you out of your trance. Always make sure you discuss your intention to start hypnotherapy with your doctor first, as it isn’t advisable for people with certain health conditions.

What’s the average cost of Hypnotherapy?

The cost of a hypnotherapist can vary widely depending on the type of service and how long you need it for. To give you a clearer picture, we’ve put together a handy breakdown of average hypnotherapy costs based on Canadian professionals:

Average cost (per session)$175
Minimum cost (per session)$150
Maximum cost (per session)$200

Factors influencing costs

The cost of your hypnotherapy session will be impacted by a few key factors, including:

Type of Hypnotherapy

There are different types of hypnotherapy to resolve different problems. Some of these are more expensive than others. For example, specific hypnotherapy programmes to stop smoking or lose weight are sometimes more expensive than general hypnotherapy sessions.

It’s a good idea to be clear about what you want to get out of the session from the outset so that your hypnotherapist can provide you with the best service for your situation.

Location

Hypnotherapy sessions tend to cost more in major cities, to reflect the higher cost of living. Here’s a rough breakdown of average costs in three major cities across Canada:

LocationAverage cost (per session)
Vancouver$170
Toronto$150
Montreal$105

Online vs. in-person sessions

You might be surprised to hear that hypnotherapy is a service that can be effectively carried out online. This may be a better option if you’d prefer to have the session from the comfort of your own home. It’s also cheaper as the hypnotherapist doesn’t have to factor in travel costs!

Experience

It is important to opt for a professional who is suitably certified to practice. Hypnotherapy training varies widely, from home how-to videos to a weekend workshop and more intensive training programmes that require a certain number of hours of training.

As a general rule of thumb, the more experienced and qualified your hypnotherapist is, the more they’ll charge. If you’re unsure, always ask for proof of certification and testimonials from past clients.

How to keep Hypnotherapy costs to a minimum

If you’re looking to hire a hypnotherapist on a budget, here are our top tips and tricks for keeping costs down:

  • Ask for price packages – Many hypnotherapists will reduce the hourly fee for your hypnotherapy sessions if you buy them in bulk rather than individually. Before committing to multiple sessions, make sure you have an initial consultation with your hypnotherapist to make sure that their approach suits you.

  • Ask if your hypnotherapist operates on a sliding scale – A sliding scale is something that therapists use to determine their price based on your income. If you are a student or on a low-wage, you may be able to get a discounted price.

  • Opt for a newly qualified hypnotherapist – If your hypnotherapist is just starting in their career, they may want to build their experience and client base, which means they might charge you a discounted fee.

Smoking and You

When’s the last time you read the Surgeon General’s warning on a pack of cigarettes? Did you know there were four of them? Maybe you’re just unaware of them, or maybe you have just chosen to ignore them. One of them says,“Smoking Causes Lung Cancer, Heart Disease, and Emphysema” .It doesn’t say, “May Cause, or Sometimes Causes, or “ Occasionally Causes! ” It says, in no uncertain terms, that cigarettes cause those diseases. In fact over 443,000 people die prematurely from smoking and smoking-related causes each year.

You and the Nicotine Habit

The average smoker has tried the patch, gum and lozenges but with no success, usually because one type of nicotine is just replaced by another. And often the cravings continue when you stop any of the replacements.  According to the Center for Disease Control, there are over 174,000 people who smoke in New Hampshire (NH). Are you one of these statistics? I have helped hundreds of people quit smoking with hypnosis in NH.

The Easy Way to Stop Smoking, Forever

Hypnosis is a cost effective form of treatment and research shows that it works. It is also non-pharmacologic and noninvasive.

I have combined my many years of experience, with smoking cessation through hypnosis and with my education to formulate a proven, unique method, that will insures success. The hypnotic techniques I use will increase your level of confidence and sense of control over tobacco and will reduce withdrawal symptoms from nicotine. Any cravings for tobacco will be significantly reduced or absent. The moment our session is over you will immediately enjoy the sensations of being a non-smoker.

If you bring in a flash drive you will be given a free relaxation recording to reinforce all positive suggestions. Most individuals don’t need to use it but love the relaxing effect it has on them.

If you are a long time smoker ( more than 30 years without ever quitting ) I may send you a self-hypnosis recording before you come in to help you get started before your appointment.

90,000 Smoking Hypnosis | Tobacco smoking treatment with hypnosis

In the modern world, smoking has long become an integral part in the lives of many people. Unfortunately, being carried away by cigarettes, no one thinks about the harmful effects of nicotine on the body. Starting from 1-2 cigarettes a day, people after a short period of time increase their daily “norm” to 20-30 or more. Getting rid of addiction on your own is quite difficult, so the best solution is to contact a specialist. One of the most effective non-drug ways to quit smoking is through hypnosis.

Basics of smoking treatment with hypnosis

Hypnosis is one of the most ancient practices of influencing a person. Since ancient times, hypnosis has been tried to reduce pain, at the end of the 19th century it was successfully used to get rid of alcoholism and drug addiction. And then – for the treatment of smoking.

Hypnosis implies the introduction of a person into a kind of trance state, in which the protective reactions of consciousness are turned off, and the psychotherapist gets the opportunity to put information into the subconscious – it is this area that is responsible for the formation of reflexes. At the end of the session, the patient begins to follow the received guidelines, he develops an aversion to cigarette smoke, or the desire to smoke completely disappears.

Today in the arsenal of psychotherapists there are several methods of hypnosis from smoking, therefore, before carrying out the procedure, the doctor must interview the patient, find out his psychotype, experience of abuse, the number of cigarettes smoked daily, the presence of chronic diseases and other points. And only after that determines the most suitable method of exposure.A test for hypnotizability – susceptibility to hypnosis – is mandatory. It is necessary because, according to statistics, it is impossible to impose someone else’s will on 25% of people.

During the session, you will not only be instilled in attitudes towards life without cigarettes, but will also carry out additional work with the subconscious, which will help:

  • Feel comfortable among smokers;
  • Not feeling annoyed or angry about quitting smoking;
  • do not gain excess weight.

As practice shows, more than 80% of patients after hypnotherapy do not experience any negative emotions, they simply do not want to smoke. But some of the addicts (especially with a long smoking experience) develop a slight withdrawal syndrome. To alleviate it, a little effort of the will of the person himself or herself or an additional session with a psychotherapist will be required.

Techniques of hypnosis, practiced in the clinic “Ugodie”

To help our patients, we use several methods of hypnosis tobacco smoking treatment:

  • Classic method .It implies the impact of someone else’s will (the will of the psychotherapist) on a person’s consciousness. With the help of special techniques, the patient is immersed in a trance – a kind of state between sleep and reality, in which the hypnotherapist instills the mindset to quit smoking. The fact is that, while in a trance, the brain is not able to receive and process information, as in ordinary life. If we are given an order, we will not obey unquestioningly, but first think about whether it is beneficial, what the consequences will be, etc. Under hypnosis, the addict does not have this ability, his will is completely suppressed for the duration of the session, and the doctor’s words are perceived as law , which is simply necessary to follow.During a session, a specialist can instill a complete disgust for cigarettes, tobacco smoke will be perceived as something terrible, and the sight of a cigarette can cause a feeling of disgust or horror. Thus, a person will lose the desire not only to smoke, but even to see cigarettes.
  • Ericksonian Hypnosis. This is a softer method than the classic one. It is even considered by many to be one of the most effective and graceful methods of hypnotherapy. During the exposure, the person is not put into a deep trance, the psychotherapist adapts to the patient and helps him to form in his subconscious mind an aversion to smoking.Every day, without knowing it, we go into a trance, in which our psyche is as open as possible and ready for positive changes. For example, in deep thought or half asleep before falling asleep. In the session, a similar state in the addict is caused with the help of leading questions from the hypnotist. The doctor begins the conversation with a story, anecdote, parable or fairy tale, in which messages are skillfully hidden for the consciousness of the person sitting opposite. Listening, the patient imagines heroes, scenes of the development of the plot, while remaining fully conscious, he sees, hears and feels everything. The hypnotherapist gently guides the person, sending more and more new images, offering many options for the development of events, until the solution to the problem comes to his ward “from the inside,” in the form of a sudden insight.

Smoking coding with hypnosis can be accomplished using any of the above methods. For it to be successful, the desire of the person himself is necessary. Only in this case, the psychological impact can be effective and long-term.

Contraindications to hypnosis

Hypnotherapy is one of the mildest and safest methods of treatment and has no absolute contraindications.
However, the doctor may require special care in the presence of severe forms of pathologies such as:

  • cardiovascular diseases;
  • depression;
  • 90,015 severe sleep disorders;

  • any serious systemic illness;
  • mental disorders.

All restrictions are clarified on a face-to-face consultation with a specialist, during which there is a thorough collection of anamnesis, express diagnostics of the patient’s condition. If necessary, the doctor may prescribe additional instrumental and laboratory tests.

Getting rid of the addiction is real. You should not delay with addiction until such time as persistent physical cravings are formed, and health is shaken. When smoking, the lungs, heart, kidneys and many other organs and systems are affected. The sooner you start treatment, the higher the probability of a complete and quick cure.

Coding against smoking in Chelyabinsk

Tobacco coding – treatment of nicotine addiction using various psychotherapeutic techniques. It is a type of aversive therapy. Aversive therapy is a therapy aimed at causing a person with an addiction to feel uncomfortable with the addiction. The patient is given medications, a course of treatment is prescribed, after which he gets rid of tobacco, etc. After the course of treatment, the patient has unpleasant associations that prevent a return to addiction. The most popular psychotherapeutic methods used in this area are hypnosis and coding according to Dovzhenko – the author’s technique that includes elements of hypnosis, rational psychotherapy and neurolinguistic programming. In some cases, to increase the effectiveness of treatment, psychotherapy is carried out while taking drugs based on disulfiram.

Content:

Smoking coding is a group of techniques based on the impact on the patient’s psyche. As a result of this impact, a ban on smoking is formed, the taste and smell of nicotine begin to cause disgust. The method has a rather long history, its foundations were laid by domestic and foreign psychiatrists in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.Since then, the technique has been repeatedly supplemented and improved.

As a result of the work of specialists in the field of psychiatry, psychotherapy, narcology and hypnology, a separate direction has been formed on the basis of this method. Technical progress and the study of the principles of the human psyche made it possible to increase the effectiveness of the methodology. Currently, in the process of treating tobacco smoking, along with hypnosis, elements of NLP (directions of practical psychology developed in the 60-70s of the last century) and rational psychotherapy (a direction created at the beginning of the 20th century by the Swiss neuropathologist Dubois) are used, as well as technical means of influence: management light, music and speech recordings, etc.

Features of the method

Coding for nicotine addiction refers to psychotherapeutic methods, the use of which ensures a quick quit of nicotine. Distinctive features of such techniques are high specificity, a small number of sessions, and an aversive approach. High specificity means a narrow focus – the techniques are designed specifically for the treatment of addictions and, unchanged, cannot be used (or are very limitedly used) to solve psychological problems not associated with addictive behavior.

The course of treatment, depending on the specific method, includes from 1 to 15 sessions. All methods are of an aversive nature, that is, they are aimed at the formation of a psychological prohibition, the violation of which threatens with certain consequences. After using such techniques, the patient, in a sense, finds himself in the position of a child who avoids a certain action (in this case, smoking), fearing subsequent punishment. This approach is good in a situation where the patient wants to be cured, but does not have sufficient internal reserves to quit smoking on his own.

The flip side of this approach is the psychological infantilism of the patient and the habit of shifting responsibility for his life and his behavior onto the shoulders of specialists. After waiting for the end of the psychotherapeutic coding period, patients often start smoking again. Having experienced a breakdown, they blame the narcologist for their failures and subsequently use their breakdowns as a basis for the point of view “I will still smoke, because medicine is powerless and doctors cannot help.”

This problem is a common disadvantage of all coding methods. However, this should not become a reason for abandoning aversive methods of nicotine addiction therapy. If the patient realizes that psychotherapeutic treatment using the coding method is only the first step towards getting rid of nicotine addiction and that the final cure is possible only with conscious work on oneself, the likelihood of recovery increases.

The key to cure is the willingness to identify the real reasons that induce the patient to drink alcohol, and the development of new ways of behavior. In the process of such work, a variety of psychotherapeutic methods can be used: classical psychoanalysis, client-oriented therapy, gestalt therapy, art therapy, existential therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, etc. All of these methods are not specific, that is, they are used not only in therapy smoking, but also for other disorders. However, in this case, they can also be considered as part of the psychotherapeutic treatment of tobacco smoking.

As an indication for the use of coding in the treatment of nicotine addiction, the patient’s conscious desire to stop smoking is considered.

Structure and conditions of the event

Tobacco coding involves two stages. The first is a setting conversation, during which the doctor finds out the history of the patient’s life and illness, determines his mental state, establishes a relationship of trust and explains how the therapy will proceed. The second is the actual treatment, which includes one or more sessions. Sessions can be conducted both individually and in a group, both on an outpatient basis and in an inpatient setting. In some cases, to enhance the effect, the patient is additionally prescribed additional drugs.

Before the session, the patient must fulfill certain requirements: do not take caffeinated drinks, go to the toilet, etc. The list of requirements is voiced by the attending physician during the initial conversation. The sessions are usually held in the morning. Patients sit on couches or comfortable chairs.

The structure of the session depends on the specific method of psychotherapy. So, when conducting hypnosuggestative therapy, the patient is in a state of hypnotic sleep throughout the session. The session includes several types of suggestion, some types of suggestion are carried out only with a sufficiently deep hypnotic sleep. Dovzhenko’s coding also provides for hypnotic suggestion, but in this case hypnosis is used along with other, non-hypnotic types of influence, and its depth does not matter.

Suggestion can be rational or directive. In the first case, the doctor turns to the spiritual side of the patient’s personality. He explains the consequences of smoking, encourages the patient and helps him to tune in to a positive result of therapy. Directive suggestion implies an appeal to deeper mental structures. The narcologist inspires the patient with disgust and / or fear of nicotine and the consequences of its use.

Often at the end of the session, special tests with nicotine are carried out. The patient is allowed to sniff tobacco, try to smoke.Disgust, nausea and vomiting that occur during such tests indicate the effectiveness of suggestion, help the patient to realize and accept his new reality. At the end of the course of treatment, the patient is provided with clear recommendations on behavior in difficult situations (stress, increased craving for nicotine).

Hypnosis VS cigarettes

6 questions from smokers to a hypnologist.

After the news that the prices for tobacco products would rise several times, even the most inveterate smokers began to think about getting rid of the harmful, and now even the overhead, habit. The easiest and most reliable way to quit smoking among the people is undoubtedly the coding method. The method itself has been known for quite some time, but the principle of its operation and effectiveness raises many questions. narcologist, psychiatrist and psychiatrist Ivan KUZNETSOV kindly agreed to answer the most important of them.

WHAT DO I STROKE UNDER HYPNOSIS?

Coding from drunkenness and alcoholism and coding from tobacco smoking, despite the external similarity, are different things. There are different goals and different mechanisms of influence. After coding from drunkenness, the body reacts even to tiny doses of alcohol as if it were poison. As a result, a person is afraid of unpleasant sensations and tries to refrain from alcohol as much as possible. With tobacco smoking, everything is different. The smoker’s cigarette is drawn not by the feeling of euphoria itself, but by the satisfaction of the sucking reflex. No wonder cigarettes are contemptuously called “nipples”. This is such a powerful instinct that it is almost impossible to destroy it. But you don’t need to do this either. It is enough to simply replace the desire for a cigarette with the desire for something less harmful, for example, gum or candy.

If you simplify everything, you get something like this. The brain does not care how to satisfy the sucking instinct: with a candy, a kiss, or a toothpick. Only with a cigarette this satisfaction process is more efficient. Because nicotine gives euphoria. But this euphoria is weak, and it is not difficult to replace it with a brighter stimulus (for example, a candy). For this, hypnosis comes to the rescue. This is not a zombie, but on the contrary, the restoration of the body’s natural reaction. What child would trade sweet, scented candy for a fetid smoking stick filled with acrid smoke? And who among the adults enjoyed the very first cigarette in their life?

HERE I’M HYPNOTIZED – AND I’M ABOUT HERE?

Most likely yes! The preparation process for a hypnosis session is quite long and involves working on yourself. To begin with, the doctor prescribes the necessary medications, these can be nicotine-containing drugs.Nicotine chewing gum, patches, pills. At the same time, it is required to reduce the number of cigarettes smoked to a minimum. And, most importantly, find a replacement for yourself. Here the doctor can also suggest something. It will be a kind of rehearsal for a future tobacco-free life. It is possible that the doctor will prescribe other aids. Vitamins, expectorant syrups, sedatives. This is so that the process of abstinence (in the common people “withdrawal”) was as painless as possible. It happens that even before coding does not reach. The drug method is enough.

HERE MY NEIGHBOR HAS STOPPED SMOKING. AND I SMOKED FOR 20 YEARS. DOES HIM HAVE GREAT WILL POWER?

The physiological mechanism of cigarette addiction is the same. But everyone has their own psychological dependence. For some, it is a disguise of insecurity, for others it is an imitation or a way to focus. Before coding, the psychologist works with each patient, determining what the cigarette means for him.

Ivan Kuznetsov gave a curious example of how the refusal of one of the spouses’ cigarettes almost ruined the family. There was an unspoken tradition in this family: to smoke together after dinner. When the wife gave up cigarettes, both spouses were haunted by the feeling that the relationship was weakened, and in general everything was going wrong. Nervousness and misunderstanding grew. After a visit to a psychologist, everything fell into place. It was enough to come up with a replacement for the joint smoking ritual, that is, to come up with a new, harmless and more interesting one.

That is why the process of coding from smoking can take more than one day.

WHEN IS IT DIFFICULT TO STOP SMOKING WITHOUT A DOCTOR?

If a person smokes a large amount (a pack or more) of cigarettes per day and experiences painful sensations from this, while he cannot stop himself, then it is simply necessary to consult a doctor. It is also undesirable to independently get rid of the bad habit for someone who has suffered a serious illness. For example, a stroke.

FIND OUT THAT MY SON IS SMOKING. IS IT POSSIBLE TO ENCODE IT?

Not allowed. First, the desire of the smoker is necessary, without this nothing will come of it. No threats or promises will help, but will only lead to the opposite effect. As practice shows, psychological help is needed more often by such “vigilant” parents, and not by children. It is parents who cannot build trusting relationships with children. If a teenager indulges in cigarettes, he does not need coding and medication. This is not addiction yet. But a doctor’s consultation is not only desirable, but sometimes necessary. So that pampering does not turn into addiction.

WHY SOME PEOPLE BREAK AND LIGHT AGAIN? DOES HYPNOSIS NOT WORK FOR THEM?

Hypnosis has nothing to do with it. If the result did not live up to expectations, there may be several explanations. Either an important detail was overlooked in the initial diagnosis, or the patient himself was poorly following the specialist’s instructions.Hypnosis is not magic. To completely rid a person of smoking, it is necessary to eliminate the sucking reflex, remove the ability to have pleasure. And this, of course, is impossible. Physiological cravings for nicotine subside after a couple of weeks. Six months later, the metabolism becomes exactly the same as that of a completely non-smoker. The encoding helps to get rid of psychological dependence, and there will be no painful desire to smoke a cigarette.

But to become a smoker again or to enjoy the pleasures of life without tobacco – this will be a conscious choice of the person himself.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

In Aktobe, coding itself will cost 35,000 tenge. But this is not the final amount. You may also need additional medications, consultations or other services. The final cost can only be determined individually. But in any case, the total amount of treatment is much less than the costs of buying cigarettes.

And health is generally priceless.

Vladislav KOZHUKHAR,

Coding from Smoking in Kiev – Tobacco Treatment Hypnosis

Smoking coding – a method of treating smoking habits using hypnosis. He easily copes with the main task – the destruction of the reflex of tobacco smoking, which has firmly entered and fixed itself in the life of a smoker.

Smoking ordinary cigarettes is not, in the public sense, such a scourge as drug addiction, alcoholism or gambling addiction. Tobacco smoking does not destroy the personality and does not knock a person out of the social environment. On the contrary, behind the illusory provocative call “let’s smoke a cigarette,” there is an affectionate killer of a person who acts completely imperceptibly, in an unexpected way, and can suddenly bring to life the worst nightmares of cancer hospitals with all the ensuing surgical consequences.

Every year in the world 7 million people die from diseases caused by smoking. This is stated in the report of the World Health Organization. Tragic statistics, isn’t it?

But, unfortunately, not everyone takes their minds. And I would like to hope that you are one / one of those smart, sane people. You want to live long and at the same time be a healthy, efficient and active person.

Treatment of smoking with hypnosis – a proven method to quit smoking

The very process of coding (encoding) from smoking can occur in two ways.

People are different and the degree of readiness to give up cigarettes is also different. For those who decisively and irrevocably decided to quit – this happens in one session, which usually lasts from 2 to 3 hours.

And the second option for those who hesitate inside, we offer three sessions of 50 minutes each, a few days later. Moreover, between senses, you can continue to smoke (if you want to, of course), since most of our visitors after the first, and more often, the second session, this desire disappears for reasons they do not understand.

And on the third session “a bold point is put” – the very coding from smoking takes place.

What is important and you need to know about smoking tobacco

This is a largely ingrained reflex (habit) that has become entrenched and integrated in a person’s life, accompanying all life processes. From going to the toilet in the morning with a cigarette in your mouth, to a cigarette before going to bed. Sometimes people smoke even at night.

A common myth is the so-called “nicotine withdrawal”, where smokers justify their cravings and desire to smoke for themselves by the fact that their body lacks nicotine.Yes, there is a reasonable grain in it, but only a grain, or a few grains, no more.

✎ “Smoking makes you think something is happening while you are inactive.”

In fact, “withdrawal” is psychological, since a person has many thousands of times combined smoking with other activities or rest and it seems to him that without smoking a cigarette, he will not be able to relax, or concentrate, or feel a feeling of comfort, or complete satisfaction after meal. Smokers understand very well what this is about. But every cloud has a silver lining.

90,000 Smoking cure. Modern methods of treating tobacco dependence

In terms of the degree of danger to health and the level of negative impact on the human body, smoking can be compared with alcohol or drug addiction.A person does not immediately feel the destructive effect of this bad habit – that is why many smokers do not want to admit the fact of the slow destruction of their own health. They claim that they are not dependent on regular smoke breaks, but this is fundamentally not the case. The proof is how difficult it can be to give up a coveted cigarette.

Our center offers you the most effective and efficient treatment for tobacco addiction. The scheme of the process of getting rid of the addiction is determined and selected individually. When compiling it, it is important to take into account all the characteristics of the body of a smoking person, the degree of his attachment to cigarettes, the time period during which he can completely get rid of the addiction.

Why is it important to quit smoking

Smoking treatment is a very important and difficult step in the life of every person suffering from this form of addiction. The main reason is the lack of freedom, the constant need to have a pack of cigarettes on hand.Otherwise, the person feels mild irritation and excitement, which can develop into stronger aggression and nervousness.

Another, more weighty reason is your health. The lungs at a fast pace are covered with tar from tobacco smoke, become clogged with harmful substances, a strong cough develops, and the voice changes. The skin acquires a yellow tint, severe shortness of breath begins with physical activity. The body ages much faster than that of an ordinary, healthy person.Further smoking threatens the development of lung cancer and many other serious diseases. In addition, the dose of nicotine required by an addicted person is constantly increasing and thereby forces them to buy cigarettes more and more often. Smoking treatment should be carried out as quickly as possible, because the degree of addiction increases every day.

If you decide to say goodbye to this harmful, destructive habit forever, our center will provide all the necessary assistance.

After quitting smoking, you will be able to feel a positive reaction of the body almost immediately: the lungs will be cleansed – and you will no longer have difficulty breathing.

Modern methods of nicotine addiction treatment

To cure tobacco addiction is a rather laborious and serious task, which largely depends on the patient’s internal mood. To achieve a result, a person must believe in his speedy recovery, he must wholeheartedly want to quickly become free from this dangerous habit.

Current treatments include:

  • Behavioral Techniques. This includes reading special literature (“Easy way to quit smoking”, etc.), methods of self-regulation. As a rule, such methods are effective only in cases where the duration of the existing nicotine addiction in the patient is very short.
  • Psychotherapeutic methods. These include hypnosis sessions, psychological support, and other non-drug techniques.
  • Methods of physiological influence. These include nicotine replacement therapy, treatment with special drugs, TES therapy and reflexology.
  • Psychotherapeutic methods and methods of physiological influence are the most effective and popular among many specialists. In especially difficult situations, the patient may be prescribed treatment in a day hospital setting of a medical institution. This method of therapy is mainly prescribed for people who have a very serious degree of addiction, and no other methods can help them. Day hospital treatment includes active therapy using special medications, as well as regular sessions with a psychologist. The necessary prevention of the risk of returning to smoking is being carried out.

Stages of nicotine addiction treatment

Treatment of a patient from tobacco dependence can be roughly divided into two stages:

  • First comes the release of physical addiction. The patient’s body is cleansed, various detoxification measures are carried out. The work of internal organs is normalized, harmful substances are removed, and the blood is healed.
  • After getting rid of physical dependence, psychotherapeutic and psychological recovery can begin. Conversations, hypnosis sessions are conducted with the patient, the reasons for the emergence of a pernicious passion are clarified, fears and anxieties are eliminated, active work is underway to create favorable attitudes for a successful result.Specialists are doing everything possible to make it easier for the patient to quit smoking, to make it painless.

Before starting psychotherapeutic and psychological treatment of smoking, the patient should refrain from using cigarettes for at least 1-2 days. This is necessary so that a specialist can assess the severity of addiction and prescribe the most optimal and correct treatment. If it is not possible to endure even a day without cigarettes, the doctor prescribes special drugs against the craving for smoking.

If you are here, you have most likely tried to quit smoking. Perhaps more than once. However, for some reason, they did not succeed. It’s time to change the situation.

How does it work?

There are receptors in the human body that are sensitive to nicotine. When it enters the body, the release of adrenaline and endorphins – “hormones of joy”, similar in structure to opiates. This is how physiological dependence appears. During an acupuncture session, exposure to biologically active points stimulates the activity of those areas of the brain where endorphins are produced. This helps to get rid of nicotine addiction.

Why is acupuncture better than other ways to quit smoking:

  • No withdrawal – I just don’t feel like smoking. There is no irritability, insomnia, headaches, dry mouth and other symptoms in those who decided to quit smoking simply by “willpower”.
  • No harm to health – those who quit smoking by willpower often exacerbate chronic diseases, decrease immunity, disrupt the work of internal organs, up to hypertensive crises, heart attacks, strokes. Acupuncture helps to gently quit smoking, get rid of bad habits and not overload the body.
  • No extra pounds. It’s no secret that those who quit smoking have an increased appetite and weight gain. Acupuncture helps you not to gain too much and stop poisoning yourself with cigarettes.
