Is apple juice good for uti: Foods You Shouldn’t Eat When Treating a UTI

Foods You Shouldn’t Eat When Treating a UTI

According to the National Kidney Foundation, one in five women will have at least one urinary tract infection (UTI) in her lifetime — 20 percent of them will have more than one. In fact, bladder infections result in nearly 10 million doctor’s visits each year as women seek treatment for the pain, pressure, and constant urge to urinate.

A bladder infection occurs when bacteria enter the urinary tract. The bacteria irritate the urinary tract, which often results in painful urination and even lower abdominal pain or cramping. Though certain antibiotics can treat a bladder infection, it’s important to know the symptoms of a bladder infection to help your body heal — and to prevent further bladder irritation.

Not everyone with a bladder infection has obvious symptoms. But according to the Mayo Clinic, common signs of a bladder infection may include the following:

  • Blood in the urine (urine that looks red, bright pink, or cola-colored)
  • Feeling of pressure or cramping in the lower abdomen
  • Foul smelling urine
  • Kidney or bladder stones
  • Low-grade fever or chills
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Passing frequent, small amounts of urine
  • Pelvic pain
  • Stinging or burning feeling when urinating
  • Strong persistent need to urinate
  • Urine that is cloudy

A bladder infection can be irritating and painful, but it can become a very serious health problem if the bacterial infection spreads to your kidneys. That’s why understanding your body is important and seeking treatment early on for bladder infections helps you manage the symptoms.

Women are 10 times more likely than men to get bladder infections because they have a shorter urethra. In women, bacteria can reach the bladder faster because of the shorter distance.

While being a woman puts you at greater risk for bladder infections, other risk factors that are common include:

  • Abnormal urinary tract shape or function
  • Certain types of contraception, particularly diaphragms with spermicidal agents
  • Diabetes
  • Genetic predisposition — bladder infections run in some families
  • Postmenopausal. In postmenopausal women altered hormone levels are linked to bladder infections.
  • Pregnancy. Changes in a woman’s hormones during pregnancy increase the risk of a bladder infection.
  • Sexual activity. Bacteria is pushed into the urethra during intercourse. Also, having multiple sex partners increases the risk of bladder infections.

Additionally, a number of common foods and drinks — artificial sweeteners, spicy foods, alcohol, coffee, acidic fruits, citrus, or caffeinated drinks — can irritate your bladder, and may worsen UTI symptoms — so you should steer clear of them if you have signs of a bladder infection.

The Truth About Cranberry Juice and UTIs: Southeast Urogyn: Urogynecologists

Urinary tract infections affect 50-60% of women at some point in their lives. The condition can be painful, characterized by a strong urge to urinate, burning sensations, and cloudy or reddish-colored urine with a strong smell.

While antibiotics are the “go to” remedy for a UTI, you may have heard that simply drinking cranberry juice or taking a cranberry supplement is just as effective. Before you treat yourself with the tart drink, know the facts about cranberry juice and UTIs.

The magic of cranberries

UTIs are most often caused by bacteria called Escherichia coli, or E. coli for short. Cranberries contain compounds called A-type proanthocyanidins that prevent E. coli from adhering to the bladder walls. Whether there’s enough of this compound in a serving of juice or supplements to make a difference in your health has not been categorically proven by research.

Scientific proof

Some research suggests cranberry may help prevent UTIs, especially in women who get them frequently.

According to one review of research published in 2012, cranberry juice may reduce the number of UTIs a woman experiences over a 12-month period — especially if she suffers from recurrent infections.

But the results showed that this might not be true for all women, and cranberry juice may be less effective than once thought. Small studies demonstrate promise for using cranberry juice to prevent UTIs, but many larger studies don’t.

Similarly, a 2012 meta-analysis of 10 well-designed studies showed cranberry-containing products protected against UTIs, especially in children, women who get UTIs often, and those who drink cranberry juice regularly or use cranberry products several times a day.

However, there’s a big difference between prevention and treatment. While the berry may offer some preventive protection, most of the medical and research community agrees that cranberry juice is inferior to antibiotics when it comes to treating a UTI once you have it.

Know what you’re getting

There’s no harm in drinking cranberry juice regularly to ward off UTIs; there’s just no guarantee it’ll work. However, do make sure you’re drinking 100% cranberry juice and not a cocktail, which is mostly grape juice, apple juice, and sugar.

Cranberry juice does pad your diet with extra calories. Even unsweetened, 100% cranberry juice contains 116 calories per cup. That might not seem like a lot, but if you add it without trimming an equal number of calories elsewhere, it could lead you to gain about a pound every month.

If you opt for cranberry supplements, know that the US Food and Drug Administration doesn’t regulate them. That means you can’t be sure how much active ingredient each dose contains.

Other methods to prevent UTIs

Lifestyle habits may be just as helpful in preventing UTIs. Stay well hydrated and always urinate after sexual intercourse. Make a habit of wiping from front to back, so you minimize contact between bacteria from your rectum and your vagina.

Avoid the use of douches and scented powders. Certain birth control methods are likely to cause UTIs, too. These include spermicides and spermicide-lubricated condoms as well as diaphragms, which contribute to bacterial growth.

If you have frequent urinary tract infections, the team at Southeast Urogyn also recommends you take other precautions to discourage bacterial growth. Stick mostly to cotton underwear and avoid baths. Tight clothing that keeps bacteria trapped near your urethra can also encourage UTIs.

In some cases, the doctors might prescribe a low dose of antibiotics for you to take regularly or to take as a single dose after having sex. Women who’ve experienced menopause can ask about estrogen vaginal cream to prevent dryness, which increases the chance of bacterial infection.

The bottom line? Cranberry juice can be part of your UTI prevention protocol, but not your only strategy. If you suffer from frequent UTIs and want to discuss preventive treatments with a trusted doctor, call Southeast Urogyn in Jackson, Mississippi, or click to make an appointment.

What to eat (and what to avoid) during a UTI

Most women have experienced a urinary tract infection, or UTI.

While men can get UTIs, they mainly occur in females.

Once you’ve had an infection, it’s pretty easy to recognize the most common symptoms:

  • Abdominal pressure and pain
  • A burning feeling while urinating
  • A near-constant feeling of having to urinate, even if you just went, and often only going a small amount

Left untreated, these symptoms quickly intensify from annoying to painful.

If you start to feel the symptoms of a suspected urinary tract infection, don’t wait to see a doctor. The sooner you begin antibiotics, the better.

Along with an antibiotic, what you drink and eat during a UTI can help you get better faster.

DO drink a lot of water, even if you’re not thirsty. This will help flush out the bacteria.

DON’T drink coffee, alcohol or caffeine until the infection is gone. These drinks can irritate your bladder.

DO drink a shot of sugar-free cranberry juice, if you like it. Cranberry juice may help fight infection, though the effectiveness is still being studied.

DO eat blueberries. They may have the same effect as cranberries, which is keeping bacteria from sticking to the lining if your urinary tract.

DON’T eat spicy food. It could irritate your bladder.

DO eat probiotics — plain Greek yogurt and fermented food such as sauerkraut and pickles. They contain “good” bacteria that can help keep the bad bacteria at bay.

DON’T eat a lot of acidic fruit, such as oranges, lemons or limes during the infection. They can irritate your bladder. However, once your infection is gone, eating acidic fruit with vitamin C can help prevent future infections. Add grapefruit and strawberries to your diet, along with spinach and green peppers.

Once you are prescribed an antibiotic, take the entire course. Don’t stop, even if you feel better.

During the infection — and after — make sure to drink a lot of water, at least 12 8-ounce cups per day. This will flush out your system and help prevent future infections.

If you feel like you’ve got to go, GO! Don’t hold it, as this simply delays getting rid of more bacteria. Holding your urine also provides the perfect environment inside your bladder for bacteria to grow.

Besides holding your urine, other causes of UTIs include sex (always urinate before and after), kidney stones or a lack of estrogen, which helps protect women’s bladders against bad bacteria. Some women are genetically more likely to get UTIs.

Urinary tract infections are very common. Knowing what to eat and drink can go a long way toward preventing these annoying infections from disrupting your life.

Top 10 Foods That are Great for Bladder Health

October 08,2020 |

Your bladder is an important part of the urinary tract system. It’s an essential pear-shaped organ made out of expandable components that holds on to urine until it’s expelled from your body. The bladder itself is quite impressive and is able to stretch from about two inches to over six inches long, depending on the amount of liquid it’s holding.1 In a typical person, your bladder will reach capacity when it fills up with about 16-24 ounces of urine, but most people start to feel the urge to urinate when it is only 25% full.1 At this point, your body starts to send nerve signals to the brain indicating that it’s time to find a restroom. When you proceed to use the bathroom, there is a mixture of voluntary and involuntary muscles working to lead urine from the bladder, through the urethra, and out of the body.

Your bladder works hand-in-hand with your kidneys to filter fluid and wastes from the bloodstream. They are the primary parts of the urinary tract system. The byproduct from this process is urine. When your bladder isn’t functioning properly, it can lead to a number of problems.

Normal functioning requires a coordination of neurologic, musculoskeletal, and psychological functions that result in the conscious and voluntary emptying of your bladder.1 Abnormal functioning can result in incontinence issues, leakage, backflow, and other common urinary system problems. To avoid these problems, it’s important to take the proper steps to care for your urologic health. This includes eating a healthy diet that’s rich in nutrients and vitamins. To help you eat foods that help your body, here are 10 foods that are great for bladder health.

  1. Garlic

Garlic is a natural antibiotic that has hundreds of different health benefits. It’s been used for centuries as a medicine and is now even sold in supplement form for those who don’t like the taste. Garlic has been shown to treat digestion issues, internal and cutaneous infections, parasites, and even fatigue or low energy issues. Garlic is also a great way to fend off any UTIs and make sure that your bladder is as healthy as possible. Thankfully, garlic is a great addition to many home-cooked meals and can be eaten in every form. It can even be made into a delicious dressing for salads or vegetables. If you’re not a fan of the taste of garlic, or would prefer to supplement it, there are plenty of options for you to choose from. Talk to your doctor when starting new supplements, especially if you’re taking any medications.

  2. Bananas

Bananas are high in potassium and fiber, which can help encourage regular bowel movements and flush out your urinary tract. If you don’t have regular bowel movements, your intestines can become enlarged and cause pressure on your urinary tract. This added pressure makes urine flow more restricted and can lead to urinary problems throughout the day. Plus, since banans a non-acidic fruit, they won’t irritate your bladder and will instead give you nutrients that you need in a balanced diet.

  3. Pears

Some people believe that eating fruits that are shaped like certain organs or body parts will help that specific area. While we’re not quite sure about other claims, pears are great for your bladder—a pear shaped organ. Pears are a healthy fruit that have a lower sugar content but are still satisfying to a sweet tooth. They’re loaded with dietary fiber, which can help facilitate regular bowel movements. Pears also have more antioxidants than many other fruits. Pears are great by themselves or they can be added to salads, smoothies, or used as an apple substitute in baking.

  4. Berries

Berries are some of the best fruits that you can eat regularly due to their low sugar content and high antioxidant levels. While cranberries are the most commonly used type of berry for bladder health, other types of berries have similar effects. Strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries have high levels of vitamin C, which can help your bladder stave off bad bacteria. Berries have high water content, so they can also help you flush out your urinary tract system throughout the day to avoid UTIs. Berries are great when eaten alone, but can be added to smoothies, salads, or other delicious recipes.

  5. Nuts

Nuts are a great, heart-healthy food that provides you with much needed protein and healthy fats. While most nuts are bladder friendly, certain nuts can cause irritation. For the best options, stick to almonds, cashews, and peanuts.

  6. Cruciferous Vegetables

Cruciferous vegetables are some of the healthiest types of vegetables due to their cancer-fighting properties. They include things like arugula, bok choy, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, radish, and turnips. These vegetables are filled with vitamins C, E, K, and plenty of folate and fiber to encourage bladder health. You can eat them roasted, raw, or even add them to a smoothie.

  7. Potatoes

If you’re looking for a comfort food that won’t irritate your bladder, potatoes are the best option. They’re extremely versatile and a great food to eat when the weather starts to cool down. Plus, there are so many varieties of potatoes—over 4,000 in the world—so you have plenty of options for taste preference. The best types of potatoes for your bladder are regular russet potatoes and sweet potatoes.

  8. Lean Protein

Lean proteins are one of the best proteins to eat when trying to avoid bladder irritation. They’re best eaten when you steam, broil, or bake them. Avoid frying these lean proteins or cooking them in too much oil as this can lead to irritation. Some good lean proteins for bladder health include low-fat chicken, pork, turkey, beef, and fish.

  9. Eggs

Eggs are another great source of protein that you can eat without fear of bladder irritation. They’re actually considered some of the least bothersome foods for many bladder conditions and are an important part of a balanced diet.

  10. Whole Grain

Finally, whole grains and bread are great options to give you healthy carbohydrates without causing bladder problems. Quinoa, rice, and oats are good options for whole grains and most breads can be eaten without an issue. If you have celiac or any gluten sensitivities, talk to your doctor about a healthy alternative.

Choosing Healthier Drinks

Another thing that can severely impact your bladder health is the types of drinks you’re consuming on a regular basis. Caffeine, while helpful in the mornings, is a bladder irritant and can cause disruptions in your body’s communication signals. Sugary drinks like soda pop or sports drinks can cause stress on your bladder and lead to irritation. Alcoholic beverages have been shown to worsen bladder problems, so only drink in moderation to stay healthy. If you’re not a fan of plain water, there are still plenty of healthy drinks you can choose from.

Different Types of Tea

To avoid excess caffeine, try switching to herbal tea of fruit-based teas. You can slowly ween yourself off caffeine-heavy teas to avoid any withdrawal symptoms, but eventually it’s well worth the effort. There are plenty of different varieties of fruit and herbal teas to choose from. If you’re not a fan of drinking hot tea, make a pitcher of iced tea and flavor it with some lemon, mint, or cucumber. Kohli tea has also been shown to have a protective effect on your bladder and is recommended for those who are currently struggling with bladder problems.1

Certain Fruit Juices

Some fruit juices are filled with excess sugars and are bad for your bladder, but others have some great benefits. Cranberry juice can help keep your bladder’s bacterial levels balanced and can prevent urinary tract infections. Pear or apple juice is also a good alternative, especially if you dilute it with water. Pomegranate juice is another alternative as it’s filled with plenty of beneficial antioxidants and helps to enhance your immune system. Just stray away from juices with high sugar contents.

Lemon Enhanced Water

While plain water can help prevent incontinence issues or bladder problems, a lot of people have trouble drinking enough. To help you increase the amount of water you’re drinking, try enhancing it with lemon or other fruits. Lemon is great as it’s filled with plenty of vitamin C and helps alkalize your body. Lemon is also a great diuretic, which helps to flush out toxins from your body.

Eating for bladder health doesn’t have to be boring. By incorporating a wide variety of healthy, nutritious foods, you’ll find yourself with more energy, fewer problems, and an overall healthier lifestyle. If you feel like you’re having problems with your bladder, or have other symptoms that raise concern, call your doctor immediately. For more information on maintaining a healthy bladder or if you’re looking for a way to better manage a chronic condition, make sure you’re getting the most out of your health insurance benefits.

Cranberry Juice and Urinary Tract Infections

Topic Overview

For years, people have used cranberry juice to prevent and help cure urinary tract infections (UTIs). There is limited proof that this is worth trying.

Pure cranberry juice, cranberry extract, or cranberry supplements may help prevent repeated UTIs in women, but the benefit is small. It helps about as much as taking antibiotics to prevent another UTI.footnote 1 Using cranberry products to prevent UTIs may be expensive, and some women complain of the taste. No single concentration of cranberry juice, extract, or supplement has been studied, so it’s hard to know which product to choose.

If you do want to try cranberry juice to prevent UTIs, it’s better to drink pure, unsweetened cranberry juice (rather than cranberry juice cocktail). Drinking cranberry juice cocktail doesn’t seem to prevent UTIs better than drinking any other fruit juice. footnote 2

There is no proof that cranberry can cure a UTI. Cranberry is not well tested as a UTI treatment.

What to eat and drink if you have a urinary tract infection — and what to avoid – National

If you’ve ever suffered from a urinary tract infection (UTI), you’ve probably been told to drink a glass of cranberry juice, but it turns out diet can go a long way when it comes to finding relief.

“Diet is important in treating urinary tract infection to support the body’s immune system, reduce irritation in the healing process and help the body shed bacteria,” says Desiree Nielsen, a registered dietitian based in Vancouver.

But this doesn’t mean that simply eating and drinking something will quickly fix your UTI, she continues.

“Sometimes, the infection is too advanced and natural methods aren’t going to work; if you are still feeling crummy in 48 hours, go and get that antibiotic prescription,” she tells Global News. “And be sure to take your probiotics alongside that antibiotic too. Urinary tract infections can progress to kidney infections, which are incredibly serious.”

She adds there is also a lot of conflicting information on UTIs online.

“For example, that high vitamin C intake can both clear UTI and make it worse,” she says, adding similar claims of calcium have also been made.

A UTI, the Mayo Clinic notes, is an infection that can affect any part of the urinary system, while most infections target the bladder and urethra. Women are at a greater risk of getting these infections, but men can also be affected.

Symptoms include a strong and persistent urge to urinate, a burning sensation when you urinate, cloudy urine, urinating frequently, among others.

Below, Nielsen shares the top things you should eat and drink if you have a UTI, and things you should avoid.

Cranberry juice

It’s an age-old remedy and it can work, Nielsen says. But if you are buying cranberry juice, make sure it is unsweetened and not from concentrate.

“Pure, mouth-puckering cranberry juice is high in phytochemicals, called proanthocyanidins, which help reduce the ability of e.coli bacteria to adhere to the urinary tract walls, making it easier to pee them away,” she said.

You should also know, she adds, cranberry juice won’t kill the bacteria, but it will help flush them out of your system.

Take 1/4 cup of unsweetened cranberry juice diluted in water two or three times a day.

Water, lots of it

“Water is critical to dilute the contents of the bladder, leading to less irritation and to encourage urination so you can flush more bacteria from your system,” she says.

Dehydration can also trigger a UTI, so drinking a good amount of water every day is a good preventative measure as well.

Good quality probiotics and fermented foods

“What happens in the gut doesn’t stay in the gut,” Nielsen says. “Taking oral probiotics actually changes the flora of the vagina, and by default, the urinary tract.”

Taking a probiotic during a UTI will help restore microbial balance. “I like Bio-K+ fermented probiotic as a clinical strength option, and recommend also eating good quality fermented foods like homemade sauerkraut and kombucha, daily.”

Plant-based protein

“Protein is critical to support the immune system and regulate blood sugar rise. When planning a meal, always put 15 to 30 grams of plant protein on your plate.”

What to avoid: sugar

“High blood sugars increase your risk of UTI, which is why it is common in poorly controlled diabetes,” she says. “Sugar can also impair immune function.

If you do have a UTI, stick to a no sugar and refined flour diet to keep blood sugar levels balanced and avoid the growth of bacteria.

Caffeine, spicy food, alcohol

“Caffeine will irritate the urinary tract, making you feel worse … so will spicy foods and alcohol.”

It is best to take freshly squeezed apple juice in combination with juice of celery, carrot, peach, beet, parsley, strawberry, cabbage, pumpkin.

How to make freshly squeezed apple juice

There are several ways to make natural apple juice:

We will look at the most popular recipes.

Juice cooker

Our grandmothers made juice in a juicer when other home appliances were not available. If this unique device is dusty in your attic, you can brew the drink yourself. Wash and peel the apples and place them in an upper saucepan with a hole in the bottom. Pour water into the bottom of the juicer and put the machine on low heat. After 20-30 minutes, the apples will begin to give out juice. It takes about 1.5 hours to prepare 2.5-3 liters of the drink.

Advantages of the recipe:

  • suitable for harvesting for the winter;
  • you can use the fruit of the second grade, just remove the damage;
  • no need to add sugar;
  • drink is obtained 100% natural without additives.

  • a lot of cooking time;
  • lends itself to heat treatment and loses some of the nutrients;
  • is a very concentrated drink, must be diluted with water.

The principle of preparation of natural apple juice through a meat grinder and a blender is the same. First you need to wash the fruit, peel it off, remove the core and seeds, cut into pieces. Then put the prepared apples in a blender or pass through a meat grinder.

The resulting mass must be laid out on a dense fabric, made a bag out of it and put under the press. Strain the mixture a little faster through a sieve. But such a drink will still contain fruit particles.

Advantages of the recipe:

  • the juice is obtained natural;
  • no need to buy an expensive juicer.

  • the process takes a long time;
  • the juice turns out cloudy;
  • a small yield of the finished product, at the cost price such a drink is expensive, because a lot of juice remains in the waste.

This is the easiest, fastest and most efficient way. All you need to do is wash and cut the fruit and put it in a juicer. After a few minutes, you can drink fully prepared apple juice.

Advantages of the recipe:

  • to cook quickly;
  • 90,031 the output of the finished product is 20-30% more than in previous recipes;

  • fresh is obtained 100% natural.

  • cannot be prepared without a juicer;
  • drinks are not suitable for long-term storage and must be drunk within 48 hours.

How to drink apple juice correctly

Freshly squeezed apple juice can be drunk neat. But due to the fact that it tastes rather sour, it is better to dilute it with water. But fresh juice can also be used as an ingredient in fruit and fruit and vegetable mixes. Apple goes well with carrots, beets, strawberries, peaches, pumpkin, celery, parsley. Of the spices, cinnamon is best suited to an apple.

90,000 The benefits of apple juice for the body: how is apple juice useful

Juicy, ruddy, liquid, rejuvenating – all these enthusiastic epithets about apples, to which we treat unfairly casually. But outside of the culture of the metropolis, apples have retained their value! They are not only a symbol of the new harvest – they embody abundance, well-being, harmony and warmth of the family hearth.

The benefits of apples have been known since ancient times, but now their beneficial effects on the human body have been scientifically confirmed.

Apples have beneficial properties due to the content of dietary fiber and pectin. Due to their low calorie content, apples are considered an excellent dietary product. A medium-sized apple, along with the peel, contains about a tenth of the daily value of dietary fiber – 3.5 grams. In the same apple, but without the peel, the dietary fiber content is reduced to 2.7 grams. Fibers do not dissolve in water and attach to cholesterol molecules, facilitating its removal from the body. With a decrease in this harmful substance in the blood, the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases and blockage of blood vessels is reduced.

But what if you don’t like to eat apples, especially in large quantities?

A good substitute for apples would be apple juice – freshly squeezed or from a manufacturer whose products meet international standards.

For example, there are as many as 10 ripe apples in one package of 100% “Fruktovy Sad” apple juice and no added sugar, dyes or preservatives.

Thanks to this, as well as modern production technology and high-quality packaging, a large amount of nutrients is preserved in 1 glass of apple juice:

  • Potassium – 48% Daily Value
  • Magnesium – 5.5% RDA
  • Iron – 6.9% RDA
  • Juice 2.5 whole apples
  • Antioxidants

90,000 About the benefits of apple juices

Apple juice occupies one of the first positions in the ranking of the usefulness of fruit juices for human health. In addition, it does not have an excessive amount of calories, and also contains a lot of iron, which is so necessary for the body to fully function.
Apple juice contains vitamins of groups A, B, C, E and P, as well as pantothenic and folic acids. Apples are also rich in minerals, which are preserved in high-quality apple juice. Juices made using direct extraction technology are especially useful in this regard. Directly pressed juices “Sady Pridonya” retain in their composition such macro- and microelements as copper, sodium, magnesium, sulfur, phosphorus, as well as iron.Iron is an essential component of the normal functioning of the circulatory system. Iron starts the process of hemoglobin synthesis in blood cells (erythrocytes). Hemoglobin, in turn, is responsible for the delivery of oxygen to all human tissues and organs. That is why when there is a lack of such a trace element as iron in the body, the tone decreases, and that is why apple juice is able to raise it so quickly.
Apples are especially useful for children, since the need for a growing body in hemoglobin is quite high, especially if the child leads an active lifestyle.Among the products of the Sady Pridonya company there is a wide selection of juices for children. A distinctive feature of Sady Pridonya juices and purees is that they are made exclusively from freshly picked apples of the first grade, grown with careful care in the orchards of our own company. Absolutely any juice for children made by Sady Pridonya undergoes gentle heat treatment, which allows it to preserve a maximum of useful substances that were originally contained in ripe apples.

But the benefits of apples are not limited to children.Adults, drinking juice or eating an apple, get just as much benefit for their body. Apple juices are especially useful for problems with the respiratory system. People with bronchitis are advised to drink a glass of apple juice every day. The same goes for smokers. Apples contribute to the elimination of nicotine from the body, and also contain natural nicotinic acid. It is for this reason that doctors often recommend that those who want to quit smoking, when they think about a cigarette, eat an apple each time or drink a glass of apple juice each time.

Apple juice is incredibly useful for those who want to lose excess weight. After jogging or doing fitness, he is able to replenish the energy expended by the human body, replenish the supply of vitamins, minerals and trace elements.

Apple juice prevents the development of atherosclerosis, removes kidney stones, and is also a prophylactic agent for liver diseases. When used systematically, it also improves the condition of the skin, nails and hair, making them healthier.

The systematic consumption of apple juices significantly increases a person’s immunity, thereby minimizing the likelihood of him contracting colds or infectious diseases.

There is hardly any other juice in the world that can boast such an amazing combination of useful properties. Drink apple juice and be healthy!

“In principle, juice can be drunk every day. But there are several points that need to be taken into account – if the juice is freshly squeezed, then daily consumption of 200-300 milliliters is quite acceptable,” said Professor of the Department of Polyclinic Therapy at Sechenov University, Doctor of Medicine Alexey Bueverov.

It became known about the deadly danger of juice and soda

At the same time, the content of preservatives in juice is a myth, the expert added. After the product has been reconstituted, it is subjected to pasteurization – rapid heating for a minute to a high temperature, and then packed in bags. Thanks to this processing, the juice can be stored at room temperature for about a year. However, once opened, it should be stored in the refrigerator and used within 1–2 days, Eller said.

According to him, the sugar content in juices averages 10-12%.

Because of the large amount of sugar in the juice, people who want to reduce body weight should better refuse the drink, said Bueverov.

“The danger of juice is that everyone considers it useful. The carbohydrates contained in the juice very quickly enter the stomach and are absorbed into the bloodstream, followed by an episode of drowsiness and, accordingly, if we drank the juice, went to bed, then excess carbohydrates are immediately deposited in fat, “said Elena Tikhomirova, a nutritionist and therapist.

According to her, the juice also contains fructose, which can cause fatty liver, in addition, juices do not give a feeling of fullness, after which a person wants to eat even more.

Doctors agree that it is better to drink juice in the morning and treat it like a dessert.

Contraindications for drinking juice are allergic reactions, as well as type 2 diabetes mellitus, Bueverov noted. In addition, it is not advisable to combine grapefruit juice with a number of drugs – antibiotics and antifungal agents.

“The fact is that they are competitors for the metabolizing system and this can lead to a sharp increase in the concentration of the drug in the blood, or even death,” the doctor explained.

Oleg Boltogaev ★ Sara read the book online for free

Boltogaev Oleg

Oleg Boltogaev

I spoke and will say: “Sara lived eight years”.

True, few people believe me. They laugh: “Chickens don’t live that long.”

Live. I know. They live. Sarah lived for eight years.

Because she had a rare gift.

Sarah knew how to be a mother.

She hatched chicks well.

We have always kept chickens. Ten to twelve pieces.

The time comes and almost every chicken begins to cluck. She sits on the nest to incubate the chickens and extend her genus.

The one who thinks that if the hen began to gurgle and sat on the eggs is mistaken, then she will certainly be able to hatch the chickens. Far from it! Very few chickens are able, forgetting themselves, to sit in the nest for three weeks.

Especially incubator ones, those, in general, do not sit well on the masonry.

Before the deadline, they leave the nest and indulge in worldly joys.

How good the sun is shining! How tasty and healthy are earthworms! How pleasant it is to bathe in a dusty hole! How interesting it is to walk along the edge of the forest!

And most importantly – how beautifully the cockerel sings!

All these temptations distract the hen.

Ancient instincts are weakened by the incubator’s past, which contributes to a lightweight attitude towards life.

This is very upsetting for the owners, because not only eggs disappear, but also the hope of getting new chickens and cockerels.

And only Sarah sat on the nest as long as it was necessary.

Three weeks.

After that, she carefully and selflessly nursed her furry offspring. Neither cats nor kites could harm the sarin offspring.

We were very pleased that we have a good quote.

Therefore, it was decided to leave Sarah for the next year – since she is like that.

However, another problem arose.

We already had enough chickens, and Sarah was still striving to become a chicken mother again.

It was impossible to drive her out of the nest.

Sarah was not afraid of anyone and desperately pecked our hands when we tried to remove her from the masonry. At the same time, she hissed funny, apparently believing that she could scare us with this.

During the day we chased her from the nest several times and were in despair.

In the morning she again sat in the nest.

She was not at all embarrassed by the fact that she was trying to incubate a single egg, called a load.

Other chickens wanted to lay an egg and had to sit next to Sarah. So they sat as a couple. Seeing a new egg, Sarah, using her beak, quickly, in a businesslike manner, rolled it under her.

What to do?

The question was resolved unexpectedly.

Friends, having found out about our problem, came to us with a timid request.

– Give us your Sarah. Let her brood the chickens for us.

Let! It even flattered us a little. Let her sit!

We removed the chicken from the nest and carefully passed it on to our friends.

And they carried Sarah to the people.

How are chickens usually carried?

Yes, in her string bag, in her bag, in her basket. So that the bird turns into a shapeless lump. Do not understand: where are the legs, where are the wings? Do not understand: why the head is at the very bottom, under the belly, and why does it stick out with its beak up? Why are the legs on the back?

Because the unfortunate bird is not considered a person. If the chicken is for soup, what difference does it make how you transport it? If only she was alive!

Our friends carefully took Sarah in their arms.

The chicken behaved quietly, was not indignant, as if she knew what a great thing she had to do.

Two months later, Sarah was brought back with the same care.

She did not disappoint.

In gratitude, our friends handed us a basket of sweet apples.

Apparently, Sarah forgot our yard. The first two days she was clearly getting used to it. Or maybe she was remembering the past.

However, on the third day everything fell into place.

Sarah took her usual dominant position in the chicken herd.

She was feared not only by chickens, but also by roosters.

Well, of course, a week later Sara began to gurgle again and sat down on the nest and refused to get up from it.

But now everything was easier.

New acquaintances came to us with a request “about a quota”, and again we carefully handed them our Sarah to give her the opportunity to fulfill her mission.

Now it is clear why she lived for so long.

When Sarah was five years old, my mother said that if the chicken had reached such a solid age, then making soup from it was a waste of time.

Yes, and somehow the tongue did not turn to say: “soup from Sarah”.

And we decided – let him live as long as he can.

Every year, from February to September, Sarah incubated the chickens.

First for us, then for our friends.

Apple cider vinegar against toenail fungus

Apple cider vinegar for nail fungus on the feet and hands: treatment, reviews

Apple cider vinegar is available in every home. It is used to prepare various dishes, to whiten things, but few people know that with the help of apple cider vinegar, you can get rid of some diseases, for example, from nail fungus. At the same time, subject to safety precautions, it is almost impossible to harm the body, because the vinegar is based on ordinary apple juice.

The effect of apple cider vinegar on fungus

Vinegar from nail fungus

The fungus is afraid of an acidic environment, so apple cider vinegar not only kills these microorganisms, but also prevents their reproduction. It is an excellent antiseptic that is able to reduce symptoms of onychomycosis such as itching, irritation, and inflammation in a short time. In addition, the fruit acids contained in this product have a good effect on the structure of the nails.

Thus, apple cider vinegar:

  • acts against fungus of the nails of the hands and feet;
  • kills germs, bacteria and other harmful microorganisms;
  • strengthens the nail plate
  • relieves unpleasant symptoms of mycosis
  • fights inflammation

However, apple cider vinegar alone will not help if you do not observe hygiene:

  1. Wash your feet and hands regularly;
  2. Change socks and clothes on time;
  3. Take a shower at least once a day;
  4. Do not use other people’s hygiene items;
  5. Avoid weakening of the immune system by vitamin deficiency.
  6. Do not go barefoot in the steam bath, sauna, pool.

Also, this home remedy may not help in all cases.

When to use apple cider vinegar

Not always apple cider vinegar will help in the treatment of nail fungus. In some cases, it will bring little or no benefit. We are talking about advanced stages of the disease. If you have more than a fifth of your nail damaged, vinegar can only be used as an adjuvant. But a doctor needs to deal with such a fungus. Do not be shy and afraid of dermatologists – no one will think that you are sick because you do not pay attention to your hygiene. Anyone can get a fungus – after all, it is a very contagious disease. But it is the doctor who must prescribe drugs that will really help.

Another time vinegar should not be used is open wounds. With a fungus, a situation when part of the nail exfoliates and falls off in pieces is not uncommon. As a result, painful wounds can develop.Naturally, if acid gets into them, you will get not only increased inflammation, but also severe pain as a result of a chemical burn.

Methods of Use

Vinegar can be used in many ways to treat nail fungus. Choose an acceptable option depending on your preferences and ease of preparation.

Trays with vinegar are a great option for those who have 30 minutes of free time. After them, not only the nails are healed, but also the skin softens, the legs stop sweating a lot, the unpleasant odor and itching disappear.

The simplest vinegar bath is done as follows: pour 150 ml of 5% apple cider vinegar into 5 liters of hot water. We keep our nails in this solution for about 20 minutes. We wipe dry, cut the diseased nails at the root, put on clean socks or gloves.

Baths with vinegar and other ingredients have also proven themselves excellent:

  • A bath with vinegar and essential oils. They help wonderfully not only against nail fungus, but also against other dermatological problems. When adding essential oils, remember that they are not suitable for everyone, as they are quite an allergenic product. If you have itching, red spots or rash, immediately wash your skin with plain water and apply an allergy cream – for example, allergosan. Add no more than 3-4 drops to the bath – this will be enough for a therapeutic effect.
  • Trays with vinegar and soda. Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 50 ml of vinegar to 1 liter of water. while the reaction takes place, keep your nails in the bath for 25 minutes.Wipe them off thoroughly and do not wash for at least 3 hours.
  • Vinegar and celandine bath. To prepare this bath, you need to purchase a collection of celandine at the pharmacy and pour 1 spoonful of herbs with a glass of boiling water. Let it brew and pour into 4 liters of hot water. Add 100-150 ml of natural apple cider vinegar. Do such baths for 2 weeks daily for 30 minutes, and the result will not be long in coming.
  • Trays with vinegar and hydrogen peroxide. Add 2 tablespoons of vinegar, 1 tablespoon of peroxide to 1 liter of water in hot water.Keep nails for 20-30 minutes. Wipe dry, grease with antifungal cream.

A lotion is a wet compress that is applied for a short time. For the vinegar lotion, you will need a cotton swab or regular cosmetic cotton pad. Soak it in vinegar and apply it to the nail plate damaged by the fungus. Keep it as long as possible – at least 1-2 hours, until the vinegar evaporates. This option is great because it allows you to get faster results with pure vinegar. For the best effect, you can add onion juice, peroxide, or some baking soda.

Lubricating nails with vinegar

Treating nail fungus with vinegar

Lubricating is a quick way to stop the development of nail fungus, but the effect of such treatment should not be expected quickly. The point of lubrication is to briefly apply vinegar to the damaged nail. Unfortunately, the effect of such treatment will be noticeable if you carry out the procedure at least 10 times a day for 2-3 weeks.

However, you should not immediately dismiss this method of using vinegar.Lubricate healthy nails and you can stop the disease from progressing.

Recipes with apple cider vinegar against nail fungus

In folk medicine, there are several dozen recipes for nail fungus, and many of them contain natural apple cider vinegar. Consider the most famous recipes.

Compress of vinegar with baking soda

Compress of apple cider vinegar from fungus

Take a small piece of gauze or a handkerchief, moisten it abundantly with vinegar, pour a thick enough baking soda on top.Apply a compress to sore nails and tie with a bandage. Wrap the top with cling film or put on a bag. Fix the compress again. It must be done every other day for several hours. Pay attention to how you feel – you shouldn’t have any unpleasant sensations. In case of burning, pain, itching, remove the compress and wash the skin with water.

Compress with celandine

Brew a strong solution of celandine, for which take 1 tablespoon with the top of the herb and pour a glass of boiling water over the floor.Let it sit for 30 minutes, then dip a cotton pad in the solution. Attach the disc to the nail, and pour some pure vinegar directly into the compress from above so that the excess liquid does not drain. Tie on a compress and keep it without removing for 2-5 hours. You can leave it overnight. Also, a solution with celandine is good for a preparatory or prophylactic bath against fungus.

With sea salt

Sea salt perfectly strengthens nails, provoking their growth and strengthening the nail plate itself. To prepare a sea salt and vinegar bath, you will need about a glass of sea salt for 5-7 liters of water and a glass of vinegar. The bath must be hot. If there are scratches or other injuries on your feet, you will feel it immediately. If unpleasant or painful sensations appear, the bath should be stopped. A solution of salt and vinegar can also be used for compresses that are placed on the nail overnight.

Vinegar and soda are an ideal remedy for nail fungus

Vinegar is a food product that everyone uses, so there are no contraindications for its use.The only thing worth paying attention to is the possibility of irritating sensitive or damaged skin. In this case, limit the use of vinegar and avoid skin contact.

Also, do not use it on small children. Such patients should be examined by a doctor and prescribe special drugs suitable for their age.

When using this product, remember – this is not a panacea for nail fungus, but an auxiliary remedy. In no case should you refuse treatment with traditional drugs and ignore the appointment of a dermatologist.

Pros and cons of treatment

Like all other traditional medicines, vinegar has its pros and cons. It will help someone to quickly get rid of mycosis, but for someone it will not work at all. And yet, before applying this technique, it is useful to know the pros and cons:

  1. Cheap tool.
  2. Always at home.
  3. No contraindications.
  4. Destroys fungus and accelerates nail growth.
  5. Ideal for complex therapy.
  6. Can be used as a prophylaxis.

Among the minuses, it is worth noting a small therapeutic effect and a visible result only at the initial stage of the fungus.

Predictions at different stages of the disease

Any disease develops in at least three stages: initial, middle and advanced. When using vinegar at the initial stage of nail fungus, the probability of a complete cure reaches 70%. Almost all patients during the experiment, by the end of the second week, noted a noticeable improvement in the condition of the nail plate.

Vinegar bath for nail fungus

In the middle stage, the method of using vinegar played an important role. Compresses and lotions brought the greatest results, the baths improved the general condition of the nails, but they did not cure the fungus. Lubrication did not give any visible result.

At the advanced stages of the fungus, vinegar improved the general condition of nails in 10% of patients, but recovery did not occur within a month. It can be concluded that with a strong fungus and a large lesion, this method does not work. The disease at this stage requires an integrated approach and the use of special antimycotic drugs.

Prophylaxis with vinegar

After you have been treated and seemingly defeated the fungus, there is always a risk of relapse. Unfortunately, the situation when the symptoms return after a month or two is not uncommon. To prevent this from happening, it is necessary to carry out preventive measures within 2-4 weeks. They include:

  • More frequent changes of linen, socks.
  • Regular shower.
  • During active physical activity, hygiene must be observed.
  • Do not wear artificial underwear or socks.
  • Observe the temperature regime in clothing.
  • In case of a lack of vitamins, take a general strengthening course.
  • Soak with vinegar for 2 weeks daily, then every 3 days.

Compliance with these rules will help to defeat the disease and prevent its return.

According to these human studies, apple cider vinegar may be beneficial for people with candidal and yeast infections who also have blood sugar problems. Maintaining a stable blood sugar level is very important when fighting candida and yeast overgrowth, as high blood sugar spikes can cause candida to overgrow. In addition, feelings of satisfaction after eating can also help control food cravings, which often lead to overeating, which is common in the early stages of a candida diet.

The topic of vinegar and yeast infections is very popular, mainly because there is not enough human research to test if pouring vinegar can directly help people with yeast infections.
In our experience, eating apple cider vinegar as part of a healthy candida diet can be beneficial for most people, especially as a healthier alternative to regular vinegar. If you are a fan of vinegar and want to add it to your food, apple cider vinegar is a great choice for salad dressing.

Apple cider vinegar for thrush

Using apple cider vinegar for thrush in your mouth is a common home remedy for thrush, although it has proven to be very problematic and risky in many cases. Apple cider vinegar is very acidic, with a pH of around 3. Rinsing your mouth with such an acidic ingredient. even diluted with water, such as apple cider vinegar mouthwash, can irritate the mouth and damage your gums and teeth. In fact, according to the medical community, persistent use of apple cider vinegar can lead to erosive tooth wear (source).

For this reason, we do not recommend using apple cider vinegar for thrush in the mouth. In our practice, a much safer natural remedy for oral thrush is ozonized olive oil, which has been shown by numerous published human studies (see Research References) to be very effective and safe for thrush and gum health. and the oral cavity in general.

Apple cider vinegar for skin

Using apple cider vinegar for skin is a very popular home remedy for fungal infections on the skin, as well as many other uses: facial toner, for treating dark spots on the face, skin whitening, acne scars.

The idea is that the naturally occurring acids found in apple cider vinegar can have an exfoliating effect that can help remove dead skin and therefore make skin look younger. However, these potential benefits come at a cost. Apple cider vinegar is highly acidic and can irritate the skin when applied topically or even cause a chemical burn (source).

Using apple cider vinegar diluted with water on healthy skin as part of a cosmetic procedure is one thing, but using such an acidic solution for a yeast infection of already irritated skin is another.Skin fungus and fungal skin infections such as itching, yeast rashes, itchy skin, and other fungal skin infections can make the skin very sensitive and easily irritated.

In addition, many people who hoped that using apple cider vinegar for fungal skin infections would be beneficial due to the antifungal properties of acv reported very little success. When apple cider vinegar was used fully in the laboratory, it showed good antifungal activity against candida (source). However, apple cider vinegar needs to be diluted before topical application to the skin due to its high acidity. This can significantly reduce the antifungal potential of apple cider vinegar against fungal infections on the skin and other skin fungi.

Apple Cider Vinegar Bath

Apple Cider Vinegar Bath is a well-known home remedy for fungal infections on the skin and other skin fungi. The theory behind the benefits of an acv bath is that the natural acids in apple cider vinegar can alter the pH of the water. making the bath water more acidic. As a result, you can get a deeper wash. In addition, the antifungal properties of apple cider vinegar can be beneficial against skin fungus and candidiasis on the skin.

However, the benefits of an apple cider vinegar bath have not been confirmed by any human studies. As we mentioned in the previous section, topical application of apple cider vinegar to the skin is dangerous due to its high acidity, especially when your skin is already irritated. Also, when you dilute apple cider with as much water as in the apple cider vinegar bath method, the question arises how many antifungal properties this bath water has.

If you decide to try an acv bath, see the suggested procedure below.

A bath with apple cider vinegar for yeast infection:

  1. Fill the bath with warm water.
  2. Add 1-2 cups of apple cider vinegar.
  3. Stay in the bath and lie down for 5-20 minutes.
  4. If you’ve never taken an apple cider vinegar bath before, start with ½ cup for 5 minutes and see how it feels to your skin. Apple cider vinegar is very acidic and can irritate or even burn your skin.If you feel irritated, don’t wait. Get out of the bath immediately and rinse your skin in the shower. Safety comes first!
  5. Rinse your skin in the shower.
  6. Dry the skin.
  7. Apply ozonated olive oil directly to the affected skin.
  8. Apply coconut oil to moisturize the rest of the skin that is not affected.

Apple Cider Vinegar for Toenail Fungus

Using Apple Cider Vinegar for Toenail Fungus is a very common use of apple cider vinegar that works by soaking feet and affected toenails in a mixture of raw apple cider vinegar and warm water. The idea here is similar to using apple cider vinegar to treat skin fungus. Soaking your feet and nails mixed with apple cider vinegar and water can alter the pH of infected toenails and toenails. The change in acidity can create an environment that can become hostile to yeast and therefore can help in cases of toenail fungus, athlete’s foot, and other fungal infections.

How to use apple cider vinegar for toenail fungus

Apple cider vinegar is very acidic, with a pH of around 3, which can irritate the skin and toenails when used undiluted. For this reason, always dilute apple cider vinegar by mixing it with distilled water.
It is best to start with a lower concentration of apple cider vinegar in water and gradually increase the amount of apple cider vinegar as you get more experience with how it feels on your toenails. A safe place to start is a 1:10 ratio: 3 ounces of apple cider vinegar mixed with 30 ounces of water.

  1. Mix apple cider vinegar with warm distilled water.
  2. Use organic apple cider vinegar raw, unfiltered, unpasteurized.
  3. Water temperature should be near body temperature.
  4. Wet all feet and nails for 5-15 minutes 3-5 times a week.
  5. If you feel irritated, don’t wait. Remove your feet from the water solution of apple cider vinegar and move on to the next step.
  6. Rinse feet and nails with warm water and dry thoroughly.
  7. Throw away the aqueous apple cider vinegar mixture after use.

Safety Note: We receive many emails from people who experience severe irritation after applying undiluted apple cider vinegar or other types of vinegar directly to their toenails as recommended by some home remedies for toenail fungus.Just because you are using a higher concentration of apple cider vinegar solution or a stronger toenail fungus remedy does not mean you will get rid of toenail fungus faster! In many cases, the damage caused by the medication can slow the progress of healing.

Apple Cider Vinegar for Vaginal Yeast Infection

The use of apple cider vinegar for vaginal yeast infection is based on the idea that acv’s antifungal properties and high acidity can create an environment in the vagina that is hostile to candidiasis and yeast. Many home remedies are used for this, such as an apple cider vinegar swab or acv douching.

However, evidence suggests that apple cider vinegar for vaginal yeast infections is not very effective either as a treatment for a yeast infection in the vagina or as a relief. In fact, apple cider vinegar is known to cause many side effects, such as increased burning and irritation in the vagina.

Apple cider vinegar swab

The apple cider vinegar swab is a very unsafe and dangerous method that can cause severe burning and irritation in the vagina. However, if you do decide to try this remedy, follow these steps to minimize the risks. If you feel irritated during this process, don’t wait. Remove the tampon from your vagina immediately and wipe with a clean, damp cloth.

To use an apple cider vinegar swab for yeast infections:

  1. Dip a clean swab in apple cider vinegar.
  2. Insert the apple cider vinegar swab into your vagina.
  3. Delete after 10-15 minutes.
  4. Some home remedies suggest leaving the apple cider vinegar swab overnight.
We do not recommend doing this. When you sleep, you may not notice signs of irritation or burning.

If you’ve never tried an apple cider vinegar swab before:

  1. Dissolve 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in 8 ounces of distilled water.
  2. Dampen a clean swab with apple cider vinegar water.
  3. Insert the apple cider vinegar swab into your vagina.
  4. Delete after 5 minutes.
  5. Wait 24 hours and fine tune (or stop) depending on how you feel.

Based on our many years of experience working with thousands of different cases of vaginal yeast infections, we believe that the external use of apple cider vinegar for vaginal yeast infections is very risky, unsafe, can cause many side effects, and is actually not very effective. Many women who have used apple cider vinegar to treat a yeast infection, either as a swab or douche with apple cider vinegar, have reported side effects such as burning, irritation, and other discomfort.

Based on our experience, which is also supported by published human studies, ozonized olive oil has been shown to be safe and effective for vaginal yeast infections (source).
See Step-by-Step Instructions for Home Remedy Ozonated Olive Oil Swab.

Apple Cider Vinegar Douching – Irritation Warning

Points to Consider Before Douching with Apple Cider Vinegar. Douching is a very popular home remedy for vaginal yeast infections, although according to our practice, it can cause many problems. Used too much, douching can destroy beneficial bacteria in the vagina, which can aggravate a yeast infection, causing further irritation and discomfort. Many studies that have evaluated the efficacy and safety of douching for yeast infections have concluded that the risks outweigh the benefits. The recommendations from these studies were that douching may be harmful and should not be considered a common practice (source).

If you have a vaginal yeast infection, there are a few things you need to know:

  • It is very important to identify and address the root cause of your yeast infection as part of your treatment.
  • If you have an overgrowth of systemic candidiasis, a vaginal yeast infection is usually one of the symptoms of a larger systemic problem associated with excess candidiasis and yeast in your body.
  • If symptoms of a vaginal infection are treated only, infections may return. In many cases, they get worse as the candidal infection spreads and grows. To find out if you have systemic candida overgrowth, see the Candida Self-Test.

Apple cider vinegar for male yeast infections

Using apple cider vinegar for male yeast infections has very similar risks to those we mentioned regarding using acv for skin and vaginal yeast infections. Even if apple cider vinegar is diluted with water, irritation and burning sensation occurs. are still common side effects reported by many men. In addition, most men do not believe apple cider vinegar is effective for male yeast infections, rather than as relief or as part of a treatment for external symptoms on the penis.

Based on our practice, a much more effective and safer natural remedy that has worked for many men is ozonated olive oil, which also has solid published research behind it (see Research).
For details, see Ozonized Olive Oil for Yeast Infections.
