7 Weird Traits That Make Men Attractive

If you’re a guy and you wonder, “Am I attractive?” keep reading. Most men lament that they just don’t understand what women are looking for in a man. After all, many physically attractive women are seen dating some pretty weird-looking people these days. Before you sign up for a complete body makeover, did you know that it may only take a birthmark like Drew Brees’s, the handsome quarterback for the New Orleans Saints, a pair of great eyes, or a strong jawline to appeal to a woman?

The science of attraction is hard to predict, research shows. Sure, sex appeal is about good looks and an emotional connection, but there’s also a lot going on under the surface. “There is both a physiology and a psychology of attraction,” explains Tina B. Tessina, PhD, a psychotherapist and the author of The Unofficial Guide to Dating Again. “The physiology is what we call ‘chemistry,’ and it can be very misleading. You can have chemistry with an ax murderer.”

According to numerous studies, the eyes have it. When compared with an attractive face, voice, or body odor, a large, dilated pupil is associated with the most attractiveness in both sexes. That’s because when people are aroused, that black circle in the middle of the eye enlarges. Both men and women find this arousal sign attractive, even if only subconsciously.

The white of the eye (sclera), too, is important in attracting the opposite sex. Research concludes that people with whiter (as opposed to redder) sclerata are seen by others as happier, healthier and more attractive. Just one more reason to get in bed early and avoid bloodshot eyes.

Women look for a dark limbal ring in men. The limbal ring is the border between the iris and the sclera. This circle on the very edge of your iris may be difficult to see in those with dark eyes. In a study at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, researchers reported that women found men with dark limbal rings healthier and more attractive than men without dark limbal rings. Limbal rings may signify youth, vitality, and health — all necessary for reproduction — and limbal rings do fade with aging. Very young children have the thickest, darkest limbal rings.

If you’re now wondering what else appeals to women, get to know these physical and emotional traits that may increase your sex appeal.

Chin Reduction Overview – Causes, Treatment Options, and More

Overview

Having a larger than usual chin can affect people in their everyday lives for a variety of reasons. Ranging from physical to cosmetic concerns, there is no shortage of reasons for wanting a chin reduction. Whether it’s for medical or cosmetic reasons, the end desire is a smaller chin.

Medically, large chins don’t have too much effect on a person’s health. However, in some cases, a large chin can get in the way of proper jaw alignment, which can present chewing issues. This is commonly known as occlusion. Large chins can be the result of acromegaly, which is a condition that causes the body to produce too much growth hormone. This is where gigantism comes from. In cases like these, sometimes a chin reduction is medically necessary to ensure proper function for the jaw and mouth.

Cosmetically, a large chin offers many concerns for a patient. Most chin reductions are done for one of two reasons. The first reason is that their chin is so large it doesn’t fit in with the rest of the face. Examples of this would be when you can’t tell where the chin ends, and the jaw begins. On the other hand, the chin can be large, but make other facial features look small by comparison. For example, some people have a normal size nose but paired with an exceptionally large chin it is perceived to be too small for the face. A chin reduction is performed in this case to bring overall balance to a person’s facial appearance.

Diagnosis: The Relationship Between the Chin and Nose Proportions

While it is true that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, there is no denying that most of us consider certain physical characteristics to be ideal over others. The relationship between the chin and the nose and the measurement between the two—as well as the measurement of each feature itself—are certainly areas where certain conditions are considered ideal.

When a chin is excessively large, it can distort the appearance of the nose—creating the perception that the nose is too small for the face. In general, a cosmetic surgeon may consider a chin to be “too large” for the face when it exceeds the standard determined by the “golden ratio,” a measurement that is thought to represent the characteristics of a proportional face. While many people do not meet this measurement exactly, the golden ratio allows cosmetic surgeons to determine more accurately what is considered normal when it comes to facial features. According to the golden ratio, ideal facial harmony occurs when the face’s length, minus its eye-to-mouth distance, divided by the eye-to-mouth distance, equals 1.16—which is the number that the Greeks considered to be the “golden ratio” for beauty. In any case, it should be noted that most cases where the golden ratio is used as a beauty standard are a grey area for researchers, as they’re used in primarily Caucasian populations. Studies involving other ethnic groups like Black, Asian, Indian, Hispanic, or other individuals may not meet the same standards set in these studies.

In the United States, the classic proportions used by most plastic surgeons are inspired by the golden ratio and adapted to fit the personal preferences and physical characteristics of each patient. For the nose to chin, the goal is to have the measurement be as close to equal as possible to the measurements from:

When the measurement between the base of the nose to the bottom of the chin does not equal the previous two measurements and exceeds them in the distance, the chin is considered to be larger than average.

What are the Reasons and Causes for Large Chins?

Humans are genetically and physically similar. However, within those similarities there exists a range of differences. Environmental, genetic, medical, and developmental factors all affect the size of the chin, and those with large chins should consult a doctor to determine the reason for their larger-than-average chin size.

Genetically Strong Chins: For most people, larger chins are heredity and due to genetics. Those with parents or relatives with large chins might expect to inherit a large chin as well.

Studies have shown that those with genetically higher testosterone levels often have larger chins, which can unfavorably affect a woman’s appearance (and sometimes a man’s) if she or he inherit high testosterone levels from their genetic makeup. In other words, the larger a person’s chin is, the greater the chance is for that person to have higher levels of testosterone. This is why some women have larger chins that are considered out of the normal range for a femininely proportioned chin.

Big Chin from Underbite: Known as malocclusion, this is a condition that is largely due to genetic and environmental factors. Malocclusion is a developmental problem that forces the lower jaw and teeth to protrude beyond the upper teeth. This condition has three classes to denote its severity.

People who suffer from malocclusion have greater risks of cavities, and disorders like TMJ due to the misalignment. Many patients who have class 2 or class 3 malocclusions seek chin reductions and other surgeries to correct this problem.

Chin Size & Plastic Surgery Procedures

Thanks to the advances in medicine and plastic surgery, there is no shortage of options available for a person to reduce the size of their chin. Depending on the cause and severity of a large chin, surgery may be required to correct the problem. Alternatively, there are dental treatments in the case of an underbite.

Chin Reduction: Perhaps the most common solution to fixing a large chin, a chin reduction removes a portion of the chin by shaving down the jaw/chin bone. The chin is surgically made smaller to be more in proportion to the rest of the face.
Osseous Genioplasty: This procedure refers to any surgical procedure that reshapes and contours the chin. During an osseous genioplasty for a chin reduction, the surgeon will cut and reposition the mandible to a more aesthetically pleasing position.
Dental Treatments (Braces to fix underbite): So long as the underbite is not severe, braces may be a minimally invasive option for patients. Braces can help realign the teeth and jaw bone for minor but dramatic changes in the perceived size of the chin.
Before choosing a procedure, work closely with your doctor to identify the cause of your chin size, and to determine the artistic ideal of a new chin that’s right for your facial balance and measurements.

Large Chins in Pop Culture

Large chins have been a big part of pop culture for decades. Considered the classic leading man look, actors with prominent chins like Cary Grant and John Wayne were quite common and popularized the look for men around the world. Fast-forward to today, and that trend still holds strong in the United States—with Jay Leno as one of the most famous and beloved American celebrities known for his large chin. Interestingly enough, a large, strong chin has become a sign of machismo through sports like MMA. Considered the fighter’s chin, there is a cultural bias leaning towards striving for a large, strong chin and its relation to masculinity.

Women, in particular, are not associated with strong chins, and it’s usually considered a male trait. Many actresses are popular and famous for their beauty because of their decidedly feminine features. The most popular choice for women to emulate was Halle Berry, whose delicate features and small, pointed chin denotes the hallmark standard of beauty in the United States and throughout the world. Angelina Jolie is another woman whose small chin, sloping nose, apple cheeks, and overall perfect facial balance closely meets the standards set by the classic golden ratio. Nicole Kidman, Jessica Alba, and Kate Middleton are other celebrities whose chin sizes, and bone structures are often referred to by patients hoping to achieve a more symmetrical, beautiful face. Christina Hendricks, yet another example of a celebrity known for good looks, is another notable person whose gorgeous cleft chin is often requested at plastic surgery clinics from London to New York, across Europe, and around the world.

It’s important to note that not all strong chins are seen as detrimental to a person’s looks, even for women. Reese Witherspoon is famous for her genetically strong chin, as is Jennifer Aniston, and the “The Handmaid’s Tale” star Elisabeth Moss. However, not everyone wants to have such strong features.

Sometimes a large chin is the symptom of an underlying medical problem. The most well-known of these cases brings to mind the British footballer and European celebrity Jimmy Hill, who was famously characterized by his abnormally long chin. Although Hill passed away in 2015, his giant chin is said to have been caused by a severe, class III malocclusion.

BBC – Earth – Chins are a bit useless so why do we have them?

Chins: we all have them, sitting a bit uselessly at the bottom of our faces. Some people have strong chins, others are said to have weaker chins. But if you were pushed to explain what chins are actually for, would you have a good answer? Nobody seems to use their chin for anything useful.

Nobody had put forward a good idea about why humans would be the only animals with chins

It becomes even stranger when you consider that among the all primates – including our extinct relatives – only we have chins. Nobody seems to know why – although over the last century several theories as to its purpose have been offered.

A review of all the previous literature now seeks to put some of these assertions straight. “They [chins] are really strange, and that kind of drew my attention,” says James Pampush of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, who has been studying our humble chin for several years. “Nobody had put forward a good idea about why humans would be the only animals with chins,” so he set out to to untangle the enduring puzzle of the human chin in a recent review.

We all have a pretty good idea what a chin is, but it’s useful to define it nonetheless. Put simply, our chin is the protrusion of the bone that appears below the front wall of the human mandible (lower jaw). No other animals have chins – chimpanzee and ape jaws slant inwards for instance. Even our closest extinct relatives such as Neanderthals did not have them.

Nobody can quite agree why the chin exists

In fact, one of the ways that scientists differentiate between an anatomically modern human and a Neanderthal skull is by looking to see if it has a chin. “That is what makes the appearance of chins in anatomically modern humans so interesting. It implies that there was some sort of behavioural or dietary shift between Neanderthals and anatomically modern humans that caused the chin to form,” says Zaneta Thayer of the University of Colorado, Denver, another researcher who has studied the human chin.

Although nobody can quite agree why the chin exists, there are three prominent theories that have been around for decades.

To start with it has long been proposed that our chin may help us chew food. The theory goes that we need the extra bone to deal with the stresses involved with chewing. However, this idea falls flat when you compare us to other great apes with similar-shaped jaws.

When we chew, our jaw gets pulled apart a bit like a wishbone and the further apart our jaws are the weaker the bones are. If we were to protect ourselves from the stresses of chewing we would need more bone on the inner wall of the jaw near the tongue, not beneath our jaw.

We don’t have a very tough time chewing

That’s exactly what you see in chimpanzees and macaques. They have extra bone on the tongue-ward side of their lower jaw, called a “simian shelf”, which we do not have. The added bone that forms our chin is not very useful for additional chewing strength.

Another point Pampush is keen to make is that we don’t have a very tough time chewing in the first place.  Much of the food we eat is soft, especially cooked food. “That’s why the chin is not an adaptation for chewing,” he says.

Flora Groening at the University of Aberdeen in the UK, agrees. Five years ago she used a computer model to look at the mechanical load on the mouth with and without a chin. “There wasn’t clear evidence to support the claim that the human chin is a result of a mechanical adaptation,” she says.

Others have argued that our chin helps us to speak, that our tongue needs reinforcements from extra bone below our jaw. We are the primates with the most extensive speech repertoire after all.

The issue here is that we don’t need much force to speak, so it’s not at all obvious why we would need extra bone to help with the process. And if we did need any extra bone, just like for chewing it would be far more useful to add it to the inside of our jaw, closer to our tongue, rather than tagging it onto the bottom of our jaw.

If it’s an adaptation for sexual selection then we are the only mammal that has the same in both sexes

The third idea is that the chin doesn’t have an immediate function, but that it has been chosen by sexual selection. It is our equivalent of large-flanged orangutan faces or a male elk’s large antlers. These are traits that have both been selected for when the opposite sex is considering a mate. This ensures they live on in future generations even if they have no direct benefit or use.

Again there is a problem here, Pampush says. In all other mammals only one sex will have a sexually selected trait. Chins on the other hand are found on men and women. “If it’s an adaptation for sexual selection then we are the only mammal that has the same in both sexes,” he says.

The three hypotheses mentioned all therefore fall flat, says Pampush. In fact, he argues that nobody can know why we truly have a chin at all. “Anyone who tells you that they know [why] is lying.” Many of the ideas proposed so far have not stood up to scrutiny, he says, while others are untestable.

Unfortunately, then, we are no closer to explaining why we have a chin. But if we look at it another way it might become more apparent how it came to sit on our faces so prominently, despite having no functional use.

Spandrels are a by-product of a change happening elsewhere

It could simply be what’s called a “non-adaptive trait” that arises as a by-product of something else. This is an idea that was suggested in 1979 by the biologists Stephen J. Gould and Richard Lewontin. The chin, they said, is a “spandrel”. This is the name given to an architectural feature below some church domes that is often so ornate it looks as if it was the starting point for the building’s design. In reality, spandrels only exist because they help support the dome above them. In other words, spandrels – both biological and architectural – are a by-product of a change happening elsewhere.

Our faces getting smaller may be what caused this particular spandrel to show, according to Nathan Holton of the University of Iowa. He says the chin may simply be a by-product of the reduction of the human skull. Our mandibles, for instance, are less robust than those of our extinct hominin relatives. As our ancestors developed and used fire to cook their food, they no longer needed such strong jaws to chew. This means the overall strength of the jaw in turn became reduced.

The appearance of a chin could have helped to maintain some of the strength our lower jaws once had

Other features changed too. We lack a prominent brow bridge and we have a hollow point below our cheek bones (technically called the “canine fossa”). These have also been linked to our smaller faces, Holton says. “The presence of a chin is probably part of this trend as well. In this sense, understanding why we have chins is really about explaining why human faces became smaller.”

Groening also favours this idea, and says that the appearance of a chin could have helped to maintain some of the strength our lower jaws once had. “Neanderthals and Homo erectus had such robust mandibles, they didn’t need an extra thickening of the bone in the chin region, they already had strong jaws and robust bone,” she says. Modern humans in contrast have very graceful bones. “A chin might help to provide a bit of extra resistance to maintain a certain mechanical strength, but doesn’t really increase the [overall] strength.”

On the other hand, a spandrel could also have been caused by a random event or accident, rather than as a by-product of useful adaptations elsewhere in our faces.

“I am doubtful that it’s an adaptation,” says Pampush, but the problem is that for now nobody can prove it is an accident either. “We don’t have the tools to do so right now.”

The chin literally sticks out

So if none of the proposed theories fit the bill, and we cannot prove the spandrel hypothesis, you might wonder why Pampush has spent so long researching the human chin.

It makes more sense when you consider that, although chins are pretty weird, studying them helps pinpoint the evolutionary processes that make us who we are today. It also exposes that evolution works in many ways.

Perhaps surprisingly, it’s also rare to find a trait that is uniquely human. Many traits that humans have, other animals do too. The chin on the other hand, literally sticks out, and looking at how it did so may help us understand another step in the process that led to us.

6 Tips to Get a Ridiculously Chiseled Jawline

From Brad Pitt to Idris Elba a strong, chiseled jawline signifies a certain manliness.

If your jawline is looking strong and perfectly defined you know that it’s going to make you look and feel more confident.

And whilst genes play a big part in the shape of your face, and in particular the jaw area, there’s still a lot you can do to enhance what nature gave you!

A strong, chiseled jawline signifies a certain manliness

So whilst not everybody is blessed with the same bone structure as Brad, there’s a lot you can do to boost your jawline so that it looks stronger and more chiselled.

Getting that perfectly defined face shape

Below we’ve got 6 easy tips to get you a ridiculously chiselled jawline.

  • Starting with some advice on visually making your face look longer, and less round, so that your jawline looks more defined and more muscular.
  • Then we’ve listed small changes you can make to your diet, which along with adding cardio, will help you to lose any fat from your face. It’s this fat which makes your face look rounder and therefore less chiseled.
  • And finally, some exercises you can do to strengthen the muscles in your neck and under your chin which will shape and tone your jawline.

So, work with what you’ve got… and a strong, chiseled face shape is within your reach.

How to get a masculine, chiseled jawline

FIRST STEP

Start each day using a moisturizer designed to stimulate collagen production.

Collagen forms the structural support for your skin and keeps your face looking tight. It helps stop any signs of sagging, keeping your jawline looking nicely defined.

Applying our Hydrating Daily Moisturizer instantly tightens and firms your face – making your jawline look stronger.

Best Moisturizer to Tighten and Firm Your Jawline

Hydrating Daily Moisturizer is packed full of anti aging ingredients so it also reduces any fine lines and wrinkles and gives you a healthy even-toned complexion.

The effect is immediate and also gets better over time.

It’s packed with the hydrating superstar Hyaluronic Acid to deeply hydrate your skin, smoothing out skin tone, and rich in anti-oxidants to keep it looking even.

Plus it’s super-light, absorbs instantly and won’t leave a greasy film on your face.

NEXT STEPS

So after starting with a skincare routine that’s going to instantly firm your jawline, follow up with these 6 tips…

The first two are really simple to do and they both visually enhance your jawline. The trick is to elongate the appearance of your face so that your chin looks more defined.

#1: Choose a hairstyle that enhances your jawline

You want a style that elongates your face. So keep the sides tight, and add volume to the top to elongate your face shape. Avoid making the sides fuller as this will add to any roundness of your face.

Even if you have only a little hair always think about keeping the sides very tight to make the most of what you’ve got.

#2: Add definition with facial hair

You can get a lot of definition by adding some light shade on your jawline. This will make it appear darker and more defined. Even just a light stubble will help to accentuate your jawline. Use your clippers and play around to find the best length for your face shape. Check out our article “How To Trim Your Beard Like A Pro” for more tips.

Shape with a goatee

Adopting a goatee style is the easiest way to make a difference to the shape and contours of your face. It will immediately elongate your face and define your chin. Play around with the proportions to get the best effect. And pay special attention to keeping both sides even!

Shaving with our Protective Shave Cream is great for this because it’s translucent!

So you can see exactly where you’ve shaved and where you need to take off a little more.

Best Shave Cream for Defining a Strong Jawline

Protective Shave Cream nourishes and protects so that there’s no redness or irritation on the shaved areas. Making sure that you have the perfect finish.

You can thank the fusion of Shea Butter, Glycerin, Apricot Stone Oil and Tea Tree Oil for that!

Unfortunately, your jawline is an area that can be prone to acne, which can be made worse by shaving the wrong way. We’ve got more on how to get rid of acne here: “How to Clear Up Acne on Your Jawline”.

Adopt a full beard style

If you decide to grow out to a full beard just remember not to round out. Always think about keeping the sides tight, at the same time as elongating your chin.

Colour your beard

Colouring your beard so that it’s a uniform darkness will also add definition. This can be a tricky process so it’s best to get expert advice the first time you do it! We’ve got more information on this in an upcoming article.

The right hairstyle (and beard style) can visibly improve the look of your jawline

And then there’s changes you can make to your diet…

#3: Reduce sodium intake

You can get rid of any puffiness in your face which is hiding your jawline by reducing your salt intake. So that means cutting back on salty snacks, crisps and junk food – and staying away from adding extra salt to your food.

Also try drinking more water. This will make your face less bloated and allow your jawline to appear.

#4: Lose body fat

When you lose body fat your face will automatically look more chiselled and your jawline will look more defined.

Everything tightens up, and you will have a great looking chiselled jawline.

Sorry but this is one of the best ways to look better in every way, and we admit that it’s not the easiest thing to do!

Try switching to a plant-based diet for a month. People have reported excellent results not just in terms of weight loss but also in how strong and energetic they feel on this type of diet.

We’ve got a list of the “27 Best Anti Aging Super Foods for Men” here to give you some ideas of healthy options to add to your diet.

At the gym, a combination of strength exercises and cardio really are the most effective things you can do.

Working out and losing body fat are not just great for your jawline, of course. They also lead to better posture, your clothes will fit better, you’ll feel healthier and stronger.

We’ve got more on caring for your skin after working out here – “8 Skincare Tips for Clear, Healthy Post-Workout Skin”.

So really the message is lose fat and gain muscle – and it’s more than just your jawline that will benefit!

#5: Chew gum

Chewing gum is one of the easiest ways of improving your jawline definition.

The chewing action works the muscles in your neck and jaw, which really tightens up the whole jawline and chin area. And if you’re constantly chewing, you’re working those muscles all day long.

#6: Jawline exercises

Each morning, as you stand in front of the mirror, you can easily add these to your grooming routine.

We should warn you that you’ll probably feel pretty silly doing these, so you might want to shut the bathroom door before you start!

With these exercises you should feel the muscles in the front and side of your neck and under your chin being worked because that’s the area that we need to sharpen up and strengthen in order to define the jaw.

As you get older your face can start to sag, and you lose definition in your cheeks and jawline. Working these muscles should help to tone up any sagging cheeks and droopy jowls.

And for an action plan to stay looking young, and help prevent fine lines and wrinkles too, see “Look Younger: Your Complete Anti Aging Plan”.

Jawline defining exercise 1: Chin Lift

  1. Standing in front of the mirror, and keeping your mouth closed, try to push your lower jaw out at the same time as lifting your lower lip.
  2. You should feel a stretch build up in your jawline and just under your chin.
  3. Hold the position for 10–15 seconds, then relax.
Number of Reps: Try to do 15 of these each morning.

Jawline defining exercise 2: Tongue Twister

  1. Press your tongue onto the roof of your mouth, directly behind your teeth.
  2. Increase the pressure to add tension.
  3. Now start to make a humming sound… we know, we know! But honestly this will help to activate your jawline muscles. Hold for one breath.
Number of Reps: Do 15 of these each morning.

Jawline defining exercise 3: Collarbone Back Up

  1. In a standing position, and keeping your head level with the floor, try to slide your head back several inches. You should feel the muscles on either side of your neck contract as you go back and then relax as you release forward.
  2. Make sure that your head stays level the whole time.
  3. Hold the position for 10 seconds, then relax. Build up to a hold of 30 seconds as you progress.
Number of Reps: Do 10 repetitions each morning

And this last exercise you need to lie down for

Jawline defining exercise 4: Neck Curl

Think of this exercise as like an abdominal curl for your neck.

  1. Start by lying on your back with your tongue pressed to the roof of your mouth just behind your teeth. This will activate your front neck muscles.
  2. Bring your chin to your chest and then lift your head off of the ground about 2 inches (5cm).
  3. It’s only a small movement. So take your time, these muscles are often underdeveloped and you can cause neck strain if you lift too high too soon.
Number of Reps: Start by doing 10 repetitions each morning and gradually build up to 3 sets of 10 reps.

Other benefits of jawline exercises

Not only will these exercises strengthen and define you jaw, but they also:

  • Reduce tension in your face and neck caused by stress, or staring at a screen all day – which will lessen any headaches
  • Increase blood circulation – allowing more oxygen and essential nutrients to reach your skin cells
  • Relax your face – and you’re always going to look better if you look more relaxed!

The Takeaway

Yes genetics plays a big part in the shape of your jawline, but there are a lot of things you can do to drastically improve what nature gave you.

Start with a moisturizer that’s going to instantly firm and tighten your jawline, and follow up with these 6 tips…

VISUAL DEFINITION

  • Choose a hair style that enhances your jawline
  • Add definition with facial hair

IMPROVE YOUR DIET

  • Reduce salt intake to avoid puffiness

How Feminine Is Your Girlfriend’s Face? | Science

Guys, do you prefer more feminine faces? If so, chances are you grew up in a relatively healthy place. New research suggests that men raised in countries with higher average lifespans and lower child mortality more strongly prefer women with softer features than do men raised in less healthy nations. The finding bolsters the idea that years of human evolution have made men attracted to faces that could help them survive.

Previous studies have found that women living in harsher conditions—such as communities with high homicide rates and low income—are more inclined to find more masculine men attractive. Urszula Marcinkowska, a biologist at the University of Turku in Finland, and her colleagues wanted to know whether culture also influenced males’ preferences for females, or whether men judged females in a more universal way.

Using an online survey conducted in 16 different languages, the researchers presented 1972 heterosexual males between the ages of 18 and 24 from 28 different countries with 20 pairs of Caucasian female faces. Each pair contained one face with more feminine traits—such as larger eyes, fuller lips, and a less angular jaw—as well as a more androgynous face, with thinner lips and a wider chin. Participants were asked to select which face in each pair they found more sexually attractive.

While men across all cultures generally preferred a more feminine face, the strength of that preference varied between countries. The difference couldn’t be explained by the ratio of men to women in a country, its gross national income, or the race of the participants, but it did correlate with the national health index of the men’s countries—a measure of overall well-being. Those from countries like Japan, with high national health index scores, chose the more feminine face more than three-quarters of the time, the authors report online today in Biology Letters. Men from countries such as Nepal, which has a lower health rating, selected the more feminine face in only slightly more than half of the cases, on average.

“Women with more feminine features have, in the past, been found to be less socially dominant and less effective at competing for resources,” Marcinkowska says. Over thousands of years, she says, men may have evolved to choose less feminine women in harsher conditions to give them an edge at survival. One possible mechanism mediating this preference is altered testosterone levels; men raised in environments with frequent diseases and germ exposure tend to have lower testosterone levels through adulthood, because testosterone can handicap immune function. And men with high testosterone levels, previous studies have found, prefer more feminine women.

“Unfortunately we couldn’t measure participants’ testosterone levels in this study,” Marcinkowska says. “However, I think this explanation is very plausible.”

The conclusions “seem reasonable,” says Anthony Little, a psychology researcher at the University of Stirling in the United Kingdom who was not involved in the new work. But he also points out that separate studies have shown that recent pathogen exposure can increase a male’s preference for femininity, a slightly contradictory finding. “Future work can perhaps tease out whether different mechanisms are at play in driving these different effects.”

Marcinkowska next plans to look at additional characteristics of the countries included in the survey to see whether other differences may also be linked to the face preferences. She hopes the results add to the collection of data on how people use faces to judge others, and how these preferences may have evolved.

Chin Surgery For Business Men, A Strong Jawline Could Get You A Leg Up – CBS New York

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A new way for men to get ahead in the business world has some trying to keep their chin up. Literally.

As CBS2’s Maurice Dubois reported, study found that a more powerful profile may be the new key to success.

New York plastic surgeon Dr. Darrick Antell studied the profiles of Fortune 500 CEOs.

“They tended to have a stronger chin in at least 90 percent of cases,” he said.

He said his research showed that people consider a stronger chin to be consistent with authority and confidence.

“People want these companies to put a good face forward. They want the leading man look,” he explained.

Dr. Antell said executives from Bank of America, GR, Morgan Stanley and more all project a similar profile and were appointed to their jobs. Bill Gates on the other hand was not, but he wasn’t hired for his job, the other people were.

Financial executive Chip Oat had a chin implant to improve his profile.

Psychotherapist Diane Lang said it’s all about confidence.

“We look at those jawlines as strength, as confidence. It makes them look more manly. More masculine,” she said.

It’s that confidence, she said, that helps keep executives more motivated on the job.

“The jawline also makes men feel stronger,” she said.

Cosmetic Dermatologist, Dr. Paul Jarrod Frank agreed.

“A strong jawline projects strength. It’s that superhero image that you see in the cartoons. It portrays confidence, it portrays virility,” he said.

Dr. Frank said men make up almost 40 percent of his cosmetic dermatology practice.

“A woman will come in wanting to look more beautiful, more youthful. For a man it’s more about a competitive edge. Something related to their work environment,” he explained.

By all accounts, having a look that says ‘youthful energy’ can translate into a boost to help get you ahead in business.

Doctors said chin implants and other procedures that help define the jaw are relatively simple, but generally not covered by insurance.

We’re the Only Animals With Chins, and No One Knows Why

“Little pig, little pig, let me come in,” says the big, bad wolf. “No, no, not by the hair on my chinny chin chin,” say the three little pigs. This scene is deeply unrealistic and not just because of the pigs’ architectural competence, the wolf’s implausible lung capacity, and everyone’s ability to talk.

The thing is: Pigs don’t have chins. Nor do any animals, except for us.

The lower jaw of a chimpanzee or gorilla slopes backwards from the front teeth. So did the jaw of other hominids like Homo erectus. Even Neanderthal jaws ended in a flat vertical plane. Only in modern humans does the lower jaw end in a protruding strut of bone. A sticky-outy bit. A chin.

“It’s really strange that only humans have chins,” says James Pampush from Duke University. “When we’re looking at things that are uniquely human, we can’t look to big brains or bipedalism because our extinct relatives had those. But they didn’t have chins. That makes this immediately relevant to everyone.” Indeed, except in rare cases involving birth defects, everyone has chins. Sure, some people have less pronounced ones than others, perhaps because their lower jaws are small or they have more flesh around the area. But if you peeled back that flesh and exposed their jawbones—and maybe don’t do that—you’d still see a chin.

So, why do chins exist?

There are no firm answers, which isn’t for lack of effort. Evolutionary biologists have been proposing hypotheses for more than a century, and Pampush has recently reviewed all the major ideas, together with David Daegling. “We kept showing, for one reason or another, that these hypotheses are not very good,” he says.

The most heavily promoted explanation is that chins are adaptations for chewing—that they help to reduce the physical stresses acting upon a masticating jaw. But Pampush found that, if anything, the chin makes things worse. The lower jaw consists of two halves that are joined in the middle; when we chew, we compress the bone on the outer face of this join (near the lips) and pull on the bone on the inner face (near the tongue). Since bone is much stronger when compressed than pulled, you’d ideally want to reinforce the inner face of the join and not the outer one. In other words, you’d want the opposite of a chin.

“The chin is one of these rare phenomena in evolutionary biology that really exposes the deep philosophical differences between researchers.”

Others have suggested that the chin is an adaptation for chinwags: It resists the forces we create when speaking. After all, speech is certainly a feature that separates us from other living animals. But there’s no good evidence that the tongue exerts substantial enough forces to warrant a thick chunk of reinforcing bone. “And any mammal that also communicates vocally or suckles or engages in complex feeding behaviors that involve the tongue are probably experiencing similar stresses and strains, and they’re not getting chins,” says Pampush.

Maybe it’s about sex, then? Men typically have bigger chins than women, and stronger chins are often equated with attractiveness. Perhaps the chin is a sexual ornament, the human equivalent of a stag’s antlers or a peacock’s tail, a way of attracting mates or perhaps even signaling one’s health and quality. “But if that’s the case, we’d be the only mammal ever where both sexes have selected for the exact same ornament,” says Pampush. In other words, women have chins, too. Chin shape may well be relevant to sex, but that doesn’t explain chin presence. “They must have been there for some other reason before we started looking at the shape of them.”

Then, there are hypotheses that “stretch the concept of natural selection,” says Pampush. For example, one century-old idea says that chins are adaptations for deflecting punches to the face. That is, they helped early humans to take one on the chin. “That would require humans to hit each other so often, and to suffer such dire consequences from being hit without a chin … it’s unrealistic,” says Pampush. Also, chins are terrible for deflecting blows. They don’t disperse the incoming forces very evenly, which results in broken jaws. Even if our ancestors were constantly pummeling each other in the face, they would have fared better by reinforcing their jaws all the way round.

Pampush doubts that chins are adaptations at all. He thinks it’s more likely that they are spandrels—incidental features that have no benefits in themselves, but are byproducts of evolution acting upon something else.

For example, during human evolution, our faces shortened and our posture straightened. These changes made our mouths more cramped. To give our tongues and soft tissues more room, and to avoid constricting our airways, the lower jaw developed a forward slope, of which the chin was a side effect. The problem with this idea is that the chin’s outer face doesn’t follow the contours of its inner face, and has an exceptionally thick knob of bone. None of that screams “space-saving measure.”

A different explanation portrays the chin as a bit of the jaw that got left behind while the rest shrunk back. As early humans started cooking and processing our food, we made fewer demands upon our teeth, which started shrinking as a result. They gradually retracted into the face, while the part of the lower jaw that held them did not (or, at least, did so more slowly). Hence: chin.

Stephen Jay Gould and Richard Lewontin, who coined the concept of evolutionary spandrels, liked this hypothesis. So does Nathan Holton from the University of Iowa, who studies facial evolution. “It seems that the appearance of the chin itself is probably related to patterns of facial reduction in humans during the Pleistocene,” he says. “In this sense, understanding why faces became smaller is important to explaining why we have chins.”

“But why did the lower border of the jaw also not shrink?” Pampush asks. “What happened that left that last little bit sticking out?” This is the problem with spandrel hypotheses more generally: They’re often very hard to test.

It may seem frustrating to have so many imperfect competing hypotheses, but that’s part of the joy of chins: They reveal something about how scientists think about evolution. Some see the sculpting power of natural selection in everything, and view chins as surely some kind of adaptation. Others see natural selection as just one of many evolutionary forces, and so gravitate towards a spandrel-based explanation. “The chin is one of these rare phenomena in evolutionary biology that really exposes the deep philosophical differences between researchers in the field,” says Pampush.

And, indeed, between people outside the field. “I always get entertaining emails from lay people trying to help me so let me thank you in advance for what I’m about to receive,” he tells me.

Because if there’s one trait that more universally human than the chin, it’s having opinions.

Scientists have told how to determine by the appearance of a woman whether she will be faithful in a relationship.

It seems that one of the biggest fears of men – being deceived, can become a thing of the past. Scientists have found out the owners of what appearance are more prone to cheating than others.

It turns out that a person’s face and even the size of his legs can tell about the features of behavior.

In particular, biologists from the University of Stirling conducted many experiments, during which they found out: women whose face has masculine features (a well-defined chin, high cheekbones, etc.) do not particularly like to exchange for fleeting romances and intrigues. If they start dating a man, then there is no doubt: this is serious and for a long time.

But the owners of refined, pretty facial features are just the opposite, they live in novels, they feel subtly and love to immerse themselves in new relationships.

Ladies with big hips are prone to affair and infidelity. And also with a foot size larger than the average in your area.

Another “mark” of loving women – bent upwards large fingers tsy on legs .

An egoist will not be the best candidate for the role of a constant life companion. You can determine this by artificially enlarged lips .This was stated by face-reading expert Jin Haner . In her opinion, if you choose a lady with plump lips from a companion, then only with natural ones. Such women are distinguished by special sensuality and emotionality.

It is noteworthy that earlier another group of scientists assured that women with a voice with a slight hoarseness are prone to fleeting romances.

Earlier, “Kubanskie Novosti” told what distinguishes Japanese women from Russians, except for their appearance.

Reasons for the appearance of a double chin and how to eliminate it

Published: 04/16/2020

The second chin does not paint anyone and can appear in any person, regardless of gender and age. Anatomy explains its appearance as follows: adipose tissue accumulates between the lower jaw and the neck. However, this does not mean that a “double” chin is only a problem for overweight people. It can appear in slim people, and there are many reasons for this. The most annoying thing is that this cosmetic defect, especially in girls, adds several years to the real age.

Why does a double chin appear?

The causes of a double chin in women and men are similar. However, not all of them are obvious.

  1. Anatomy. Whether this defect occurs depends largely on the shape of the chin-jaw angle. When it is sharp, as in some nationalities, a double chin is unlikely to appear. The most “correct” (according to the canons of beauty) today is considered a right angle – its owners are also very lucky. But if an obtuse angle forms between the lower jaw and the neck, the second chin is almost guaranteed to its owner.

Malocclusion and a short neck can also lead to excess fat in the lower face.

  2. Unsuitable sleeping pillow. If it is too tall, then the chin is too close to the chest during sleep. As a result, the skin is stretched and the very unpleasant aesthetic defect is formed.

  3. Poor posture. The office lifestyle and the habit of hanging out on social media for a long time weaken the neck muscles, which is why the lower face gradually sags. The head is often tilted, collagen and elastin fibers have an increased load to retain adipose tissue, and as a result, they do not cope with this task. As a result, a double chin.

  4. Genetics. Oval of the face can start to “deteriorate” in youth. Sometimes the reason lies in the genetic characteristics of metabolism: collagen is produced more slowly than necessary, because protein biosynthesis is not sufficiently inactive.Aging begins prematurely and facial tissues sag.

  5. Extra pounds. The second chin is an insidious “trap” for fat: there it accumulates rapidly, but “leaves” this zone with great resistance. Therefore, weight gain often results in this unattractive “bag” between the face and neck.

  6. Dramatic weight loss. No wonder nutritionists warn that it is better to lose weight slowly. After all, when the kilograms are quickly dropped, the fat will “melt”, and the excess skin under the chin will remain. And you will have to deal with this problem.

  7. Age-related changes. Over time, tissue regeneration and nutrition slows down and therefore the skin becomes less elastic. Meanwhile, gravity does its job and “pulls” the face down.

  8. Hormonal failure. Disorder in the endocrine system and imbalance in hormones are another cause of a double chin. So, with hypothyroidism (reduced thyroid function), fat is deposited in problem areas, including in the lower part of the face. And with hyperthyroidism (an excess of thyroid hormones), the thyroid gland, increasing, can appear in the form of a goiter. In addition, the hormonal profile changes dramatically during pregnancy and menopause. So, these are the periods when the chances of getting a second chin increase.

  9. Puffiness. Sometimes the oval of the face deteriorates due to the liquid that has stagnated in the tissues. Frequent swelling occurs due to poor lymph drainage and poor circulation, and can also indicate kidney and heart disease.

Regardless of what the reasons for the appearance of a double chin are, there are different ways to cope with this problem – both at home and cosmetic.

How to remove a double chin

A double chin is a cosmetic flaw, which most likely requires a set of measures to combat.

  1. Slimming. If weight gain is to blame, diet alone is not enough. It is important to add physical activity – especially swimming, water aerobics and yoga. They will help tighten skin and reduce body fat.

  2. “Exercise” for the face. Exercises from different techniques (face building, face fitness or yoga for the face) will improve skin tone and possibly help to sharpen your oval.

  3. Massage. Honey, vacuum massage and self-massage with a damp towel are capable of removing a double chin. All this will help reduce tissue swelling and the severity of the problem.

  4. Correction of posture. Strengthening the muscles of the neck and opening the chest with exercise can markedly improve the condition of the lower third of the face.

  5. Injections. To correct a double chin, cosmetologists use lipolytics, which remove the contents of fat cells, as well as drainage preparations and injections that tighten skin folds.

  6. Hardware procedures. Ultrasound and microcurrent therapy, RF lifting or laser liposuction are suitable for improving the facial contours.

  7. Plastic surgery. During an operation called submental plasty, excess adipose tissue is removed and the skin on the neck is tightened. But this radical method has a number of contraindications. In addition, it will take a long time to recover, and there is also a risk of scarring.

  8. Thread lifting. Mesothread chin lift is a solution that can compete with plastic surgery in terms of efficiency. In places where correction is required, absorbable mesothreads are inserted under the skin. They instantly tighten loose tissue.

The main thing is to choose an experienced specialist who uses proven materials. For example, Luxeface & Luxebody mesothreads. They were created in 2010 by Dr. Dorina Donich with the support of A SWISS GROUP as a result of serious scientific research that has confirmed their safety and effectiveness.

Thread lift, or threadlifting, today is perhaps one of the most effective ways to remove a second chin without marks.First, the result will be visible immediately after the procedure.

And in the case of Luxeface & Luxebody threads, the lifting effect will grow for several months, while it can last up to two to three years. In addition, the appearance of scars or scars is excluded.

It is important that these mesothreads act in a complex manner, hitting several “targets” -problems at once: they smooth out wrinkles, start regeneration processes from the inside, activate the outflow of lymph, tighten the skin and even make it lighter, having a local therapeutic effect.

How to remove a double chin?

It is generally accepted that a double chin is a sign of excess weight. However, this problem is often encountered by people with a normal physique. A face with a “floating” oval often looks tired and unkempt, regardless of passport age. How to get rid of a double chin and what are the true reasons for its appearance? Let’s deal with the problem sequentially.

How to remove flews on the face?

Flews are an annoying age-related change in the form of sagging tissues on both sides of the face. A woman with such an aesthetic defect looks 5-8 years older than her age. It is also called gravitational ptosis. The oval loses its clarity, as a rule, after 35-40 years, but sometimes the soft structures of the face begin to “creep” as early as 30. Why does this happen and how to turn back the clock while maintaining the “angle of youth”?

Today we will talk about the rectangular shape of the face.

A face is considered to be rectangular, the ratio of length and width of which is close to 1.6, as in oval, but there is no smooth narrowing of the face from the line of the eyes to the line of the chin. If you attach a sheet of paper or a ruler from the side to such a face, then its outline will be parallel to the vertical line of the sheet. The width of the face along the line of the middle of the forehead and the line of the jaw will be almost the same.

The rectangular face is distinguished by a square jaw and a smoothed, “heavy” chin. These features are not considered to be the most advantageous for a woman’s face, but they are very highly rated as part of a man’s face. In general, a face with a “square” chin gives the impression of a strong, strong-willed, courageous person. If you are impressed by these features, and some masculinity is balanced in your appearance by bright femininity, perhaps you do not want to correct the shape of your face, but, on the contrary, consider it necessary to emphasize it.Below we give recommendations on how to smooth out the features of a rectangular face and visually bring it closer to an oval one. If you need the opposite effect, try to act “by contradiction”, not camouflaging, but emphasizing your features.

So, what are the options for correcting a rectangular face?

Haircuts and hairstyles

The main task of the hairstyle in the case of a rectangular face is to correct its contour by narrowing the forehead and chin. Straight bangs are not suitable, as it focuses on the lower part of the face, but long oblique bangs, laid asymmetrically, will be good.

Short haircuts above the chin can only partially perform this function: oblique bangs or side strands along the face will correct the forehead, but the chin and heavy jaw will be open and emphasized. Thus, the face may not even appear rectangular, but trapezoidal.
If you prefer short haircuts, and you have a rectangular face – choose ragged haircuts such as garcon or pixie, without bangs, style your hair away from your face so that it does not fall on your forehead and do not cover it.

The opposite option is a short haircut with very thick asymmetrical bangs and volume on top.

Such bangs will correct the upper part of the face, and the lower, in comparison with the large volume of the hairstyle, will look narrower and more graceful.

And, finally, the third option is a compromise between the convenience of short hair and the correcting capabilities of long hair: a bob or bob-bob haircut with elongated strands near the face. The length of the front strands should be approximately to the chin line.

Medium length hair is ideal for correcting the shape of the face.In the case of a rectangle, the length should be below the chin. You can choose almost any haircut – bob, bob-bob, cascade, the main thing is that the hair covers part of the forehead and the corners of the lower jaw: this will bring the shape of the face closer to oval.

If you have long hair, then the best solution is a torn cascading haircut. It will be especially good on wavy and curly hair.

If you need to pull the hair into a hairstyle and remove it from the face, try asymmetrical hairstyles, with a side parting, smooth, rounded outlines.

Glasses, like hairstyle, can change the face beyond recognition. If you want to soften the rectangular shape of the face, choose frames of medium-sized, smooth, rounded shapes. You should avoid glasses with a rectangular shape and with a clearly defined horizontal line: they will emphasize straight lines.

If you wear prescription glasses, try oval frames or cat’s eye. For everyday wear, rimless frames will be good, a brighter option – contrasting rimless frames.

As for sunglasses – try the same cat’s eye, grand, oval glasses. Aviators can also work if the chin is not flattened and sufficiently pronounced.

When correcting eyebrows, a lot, of course, depends on their natural shape. But if possible, give preference to eyebrows with a pronounced but smooth break. The ponytail of the eyebrow should be directed towards the tragus of the ear or even slightly higher so that the eyebrows are “spread out”.

Makeup.

If the task is to bring a rectangular face to an oval one, then the main task of makeup is to sculpt the face in such a way as to transfer the emphasis from the contours of the face to its center.
To do this, use a foundation one tone darker along the line of the hair on the forehead, on the sides of the forehead, under the cheekbones, and from the corners of the lower jaw to the chin.
Highlight the center of the forehead, the bridge of the nose and the center of the chin with a light corrector.
Apply blush under the cheekbone and blend diagonally from the nose to the temples.
Makeup with an emphasis on the eyes or with a simultaneous emphasis on the eyes and lips will look best on a rectangular face. Accentuated lips will draw attention to the lower part of the face, if you don’t want to – this makeup is best avoided.

Hats.

Headdresses of soft, rounded shapes are suitable for a rectangular face.
If you wear hats, choose hats with dropped brims. It can be as a soft wide-brimmed hat, and a cloche, and a bowler hat, and even a modern version of the hood.Fedora will also look great on owners of rectangular faces, but it should be borne in mind that it will emphasize the geometry of facial features and a masculine type of chin.

Hats for a rectangular face are suitable voluminous, soft, with rounded outlines. Options that allow an asymmetrical fit will be good.

Ornaments.

In order for the jewelry you are using to contribute to solving the problem of approaching the shape of the face to the oval, in their choice you should adhere to the following principles:
– give preference to jewelry of smooth, rounded or oval shapes;
– avoid straight lines;
– do not draw attention to the lateral contours of the face and chin.

Based on this, it is better to refuse long dangling earrings. The earrings should fit snugly against or slightly below the earlobe. The size depends on your facial features, but in any case, rounded softened shapes are preferred.

If you wear jewelry around your neck, try the so-called statement necklaces – large, accent necklaces. They should not be very long, oval or round, short rather than long. Such a necklace attracts a lot of attention, and its shape “outweighs” the shape of the face, bringing it closer to the desired one.

Scarves and shawls.

In the selection of scarves and shawls, the same general principle applies: soft lines, gravitation towards oval and rounded shapes and volume.

Bulky scarves made of silk, silk and cashmere, crinkled cotton, bulky knitted wool, laid around the neck with soft rings or a yoke, will be good.

If you wear scarves tying them on your head, the classic way will look good, only the scarf should be large enough to lie down in soft folds, and not tight around your head.

If we missed something, or you have any questions, we are waiting for your comments.

Line of Fate:

Determine the male character by appearance

When we meet men, we don’t know anything about them. Therefore, we make an impression based only on appearance: beautiful – not beautiful, pleasant – not pleasant.
But you really want to know more about a person! How to do this in the absence of information?
The science of physiognomy will help us with this, which studies the correspondence of features of appearance to certain qualities of character. It is based on many years of observation of various types of people.
So, let’s find out what the features of a man’s face can talk about.

Eyes

The owner of green eyes is a hardworking, purposeful person. Jealous and owner.
The owner of blue eyes often changes his occupation, is in constant search.
The gray-eyed man is practical, rational, looking for benefits in everything, including relationships with women.
The possessor of brown eyes in his youth is frivolous, changeable. With age, it settles down, becomes faithful.
Black-eyed men are melancholic, prone to despondency and depression.

Eyebrows

Men with wide eyebrows have a broad nature, they do not waste time on trifles, they are generous with gifts.
The owner of the eyebrows fused on the bridge of the nose tends to obey the woman. For the same reason, he worships his mother, which can complicate relations with him.
If a man’s eyebrows are too thick, hanging over his eyes, then he is prone to adventurism and is not used to reckoning with others.
The owner of narrow, thin eyebrows is modest, compliant and indecisive. It is difficult to wait for concrete actions from him.

The owner of a straight nose is a strong personality, he is stubborn, strives for leadership.
A man with an aquiline nose is masculine and sexy. He is cunning, often cruel. Doesn’t trust women.
The owner of a snub nose is simple-minded, emotional, vulnerable, unstable. Money flows between his fingers.
A man with a thin, pointed nose has a delicate nature. He is gentle, romantic, but optional, he does not know how to solve problems.
The owner of a round nose (in the shape of a potato) is cheerful, frivolous, loves company. Fickle.

The owner of thin lips is cautious and conservative, often a pessimist and whiner.
If a man has too full lips, then he has a soft, infantile character and often looks for a mother in a woman.
Lips of medium width, having a clear shape, speak of a strong, strong-willed, purposeful character. Such a man always achieves his goals.

Chin

A well-defined, strong-willed chin speaks of perseverance, willpower, the ability to achieve what was planned.
The owner of a square (superman’s) chin is laconic, has a firm, decisive character, can press and demand.
The owner of the chin protruding forward is smart, cunning, secretive, sharp-tongued.
An expressionless, sloping chin speaks of suppleness and weak-willedness. Such a man prefers to avoid confrontation.
A dimple on the chin indicates the capricious nature of its owner.

Face shape

The owner of a pear-shaped face (narrow forehead, wide lower jaw) is not distinguished by high intelligence.Respects only strength. Despotic to those who are weaker or dependent on him.

In the east, the ideal is a wide, forward, full chin. In second place is the square chin. A narrow, weak chin is considered bad. The chin is of particular importance for a woman. When choosing a bride, first of all, they look to have a large, rounded, full, protruding forward and (ideally) a double chin with a dimple. It is believed that women with such a chin are loving wives and good housewives. A small, pointed chin is worse, but it also speaks of a good heart. But a square or rectangular chin shows that a woman is stubborn and self-willed. Such a wife will scandal or command her husband.

Protruding chin

When considering the structure of the chin, you need to pay attention to the structure of the forehead. A protruding chin and a sloping forehead are characteristic of a person fixated on suspicion.

If a person’s chin protrudes forward – a strong and energetic person is in front of you.All his life he will strive for vigorous activity. Even in childhood, such a character trait as stubbornness will appear.

Even if an early break with parents occurs, the character of such a person will not break, because nature has endowed him with a strong will. He will achieve everything in life on his own.

A person with such a chin is able to correctly set goals and precisely choose the means to achieve them.

It is possible that a person with a protruding chin will marry twice. He will maintain good relations with his ex-spouse (wife) even after the divorce. Moreover, it will be much easier to maintain good relations after a divorce than to build normal family relationships. Such a person is simply not able to perceive his half as an equal partner.

In the professional field, such a person will achieve high results. After taking a leadership position, he will demonstrate a totalitarian style. However, this will not prevent him from being branded as a fair boss.He will not force anyone to move to another department or another firm in order to get a well-deserved promotion, he will not offend with his inattention.

Basically, his life will develop according to the plan.

Deviations are possible due to circumstances arising in personal life.

A protruding chin always shows willpower. But here it is important to pay attention to what form it is. If the chin is wide and long, then we are in front of a born leader, he will certainly achieve success.

A sharp, long, protruding chin is common in people who are smart, perceptive, sarcastic and very cunning. In general, they achieve results not with courage, but with cunning. Such people rarely reach high positions. But if they succeed, they begin to weave intrigues. A woman of this type has a shorter and rounder chin with thick, sensual lips. When applied to them, the chin shows sexuality and a tendency to frequently change partners.

Cut chin

A cut chin speaks of the inability to concentrate, endure, restrain, testifies to a timid and narrow-minded nature.Such people, as a rule, are pessimists. Their wealth will leak, relations with relatives will be upset, they are often unlucky in love. If a cut chin grows into the neck, then such people cannot stand loneliness, they cannot stand it.

If the chin is cut off, but outlined convexly, a person constantly has to overbear himself, although this is given to him with great difficulty. Such a person knows how to concentrate on only one moment, he is not enough for a long time. But with a clearly fixed mouth and a strongly pronounced nose, the will of such a person is more pronounced, although it manifests itself in flashes.

Long pointed chin

What does a sharp chin mean? A long and pointed chin speaks of a discerning mind.

In physiognomy, a sharp chin is exactly the type of people whose whole life depends on the immediate environment.

Because of his character, a person does not want to listen to the opinions of others, does not know how to adapt to circumstances.

A person with a sharp chin will not immediately succeed in gaining recognition, because the inability to communicate with people casts doubt on his professional qualities. If education allows him to occupy high positions, then he will become a middle manager.

The peculiar manner of communication will lead to late marriage. His mind will always look for a way to express itself. Not having the ability to joke lightly and naturally, such a person will eventually develop a tendency to sarcasm. It’s one thing to ridicule in companionship, and another thing to be romantically involved.

The chin, as if pulled back, indicates that you have a soft and indecisive nature in front of you.Throughout his life, such a person will seek support and support.

It is these natures that become quiet wives who for years put up with her husband’s infidelities, and calm husbands, led by more energetic wives.

Fleshy chin

What can the chin say about the character? You cannot help but pay attention to this person. He’s too smart, lucky, noticeable. Nature has endowed him with an extraordinary mind and selfishness – a truly explosive mixture.

Having decided on their life goals, they, as a rule, do not deviate from what was planned. They do not hesitate when choosing the means to achieve what they want, they never question the correctness of the tasks set and do not think about their moral side.

The value of a fleshy chin is enormous. Such a person loves himself too much to deny himself anything. On occasion, he can always find a person who is able to help him in projects. There are many similar people in his life. Of course, he deals harshly with many of them, but he will not make himself powerful and strong enemies, for this he is too smart.

It is highly likely that a person with a fleshy chin will marry several times or after the first divorce decides to remain free. Selfishness will not allow you to create relationships full of mutual understanding.

Men of this type often become convinced bachelors who never deny themselves pleasure. And women are adventure seekers. Left alone, they do not lose heart, enjoy freedom and the ability to conquer men’s hearts with their beauty and charm.

Split chin

What does a split chin mean? If the chin is bifurcated at the end, then this indicates a high emotionality and sensuality of a person. He loves to be liked and often starts romances.

In physiognomy, a split chin means a fickle nature. Neither in childhood nor in adolescence such people manage to determine what they actually want from life. They constantly create problems for themselves and others.

It will take a long enough period of time before such a person is able to determine what kind of activity is most acceptable for him.As a rule, he does not achieve high leadership positions. However, in the service he is appreciated for his ingenuity, creative approach to business.

People around him love him for his ease and ease in communication. He has many friends, but few real friends.

It is possible that some of your friends will be offended and even think about revenge. And the whole point is in the carelessness of this person, who can easily “cross the path” to his own friend, if something enthralls him.

Such people are amorous natures.Very often they cancel their own wedding at the very last moment. If there are several marriages, then you should not hope that after a divorce, good relations will remain with the former half.

In general, the life of these people cannot be called calm. A lot depends on what kind of relationship you develop with your parents and who will be next to you at the beginning of your career.

Square chin

A person with such a chin has will, determination and firmness of character. However, this type of chin is good for a man, but not for a woman. Usually a square chin occurs in people with not the highest intelligence.

The female version of this chin is softer, rounded. Women of this type are courageous and courageous, but they are ready for self-sacrifice.

A person with a large square and wide chin also has willpower, he will achieve his goal and will definitely win. In addition, he is power-hungry and loves to have sex.

Chin traits

As for the chin and jaws, they are almost inseparable, and therefore are often discussed together in Chinese texts. These two traits govern later life and are located in positions 60 to 79, and 98 and 99 on the left side.

How to determine the character by the chin? Well-developed jaws on a round or square face, in agreement with the general contour of the face, usually indicate a strong character. With a round face, the jaws indicate affection, generous character and self-control, provided that they are wide and covered with a strong and abundant whip. With a square face, they speak of a person of great determination with a firm or difficult character. These jaws are commonly associated with professional athletes or the military. Generally speaking, however, the face reader should keep in mind that wide jaws and a wide chin are a sign of a strong character, as long as they are not tainted by other bad facial features (such as a weak or broken nose or lifeless eyes). A person, whether male or female, with such a jaw and chin is likely to have a very fortunate life if the other facial features are favorable and in balance and proportion.

Generally, the wider the jaw, the wider the chin. The size and position of the two should be well matched. A wide and slightly raised chin is absolutely essential to balance the entire face. This indicates happiness and security later in life.

A weak and pressed chin “is a clear sign of a fatal flaw in character and destiny. A weak chin puts all other facial features at a disadvantage, starting from the forehead and below. known as a “split chin”.As a “rule of thumb” we can say that such a gap indicates a cordial, gentle, passionate nature. This is common among artists, actors, musicians, inventors and writers, i.e. among people whose creative work generates high emotions.

However, if a “split chin” is the result of bony structure rather than skin that has good tension along the entire length of the cleft, and if it is accompanied by defective irises, and possibly an imperfect nasal bridge, then it could mean unnatural death.A “split chin” in the absence of other defects indicates possible problems with immersion in introspection.

It is not difficult to determine the character by the chin. In some cultures, a pointed chin in women is considered a sign of beauty. Such a chin may not be fully developed and therefore insufficiently clothed with flesh. But a fully developed chin should appear by about age 30. If the chin remains pointed by this age, the physiognomist usually considers this a flawed feature, since it is often poorly balanced with other prominent facial features. An imbalance is always undesirable. After the age of 30, a pointed chin can speak of frustration, illness and a short life.

A wide jaw and a wide chin on a broad face is a sign of a strong personality. Such traits are often found in people of great strength and dexterity. Nothing can make such people deviate from the achievement of the intended goal. However, a long chin with underdeveloped flesh is a sign of an unsuccessful financial businessman. If the chin is flat, then this indicates that the person is not resourceful.

Heavy jaws protruding from both sides of the lower part of the face and clearly visible when viewed from behind indicate a rebel, a person of strong, uncontrollable passions. Such a person is able to repay a good deed by betrayal. Politicians, revolutionaries, unprincipled businessmen usually have this type of jaw.

In some cases, the protruding jaw is hidden behind massive flesh. This speaks of a self-centered, selfish person. A woman with such jaws is often a difficult marriage partner because she is constantly rebelling against her destiny.

Now you know how to define a character by the chin.

If in the art of reading on the face the forehead is the sky, then the chin is the earth. Look closely at the chin if you want to know what life will be like for a person in old years. It is he who hides the secrets of time.

A Chinese proverb says: a beautifully rounded, smooth chin speaks of a prosperous old age. By the chin, you can learn about performance, endurance and vitality, that is, about the method and manner of action by which a person copes with the demands of life until death.

The chin gives us general information about how things are with physical and mental strength, whether there is enough vigor until old age and, finally, whether it will be possible to keep the joy of life. They talk about an ideal chin if it describes an even arc, without being either angular or round. In addition, the chin should not dominate the face, all parts of the face should be in harmony.

Round chin

A person with a round chin is distinguished by a pronounced sense of family and an even friendly temperament. He has a positive effect on others. In controversial cases, he is excellent as a peacemaker. These people willingly take responsibility for the work they do and have high moral standards. In no case should they be called ambitious.

Round chin

They seem to lack purposeful career planning. However, their careers start early enough. Communication skills almost always bring them success at work.Women with a round chin are considered emphatically emotional and willingly work for their family. In China, they say: women with round chins are fertile. In an erotic sense, they are easy to satisfy: acrobatic exercises are not for them. Most of all, they are concerned about the happiness of children and prosperity in the house; family happiness often becomes the center of their life. The prospect of being surrounded by a dozen grandchildren in old age is the dream of a woman with a round chin.

Sharp chin

People with sharp chins are highly intelligent, but they are overly sensitive and subject to mood swings. They are said to love to gossip and have a penchant for treachery.

The worst thing that can happen to such a person is loneliness. This fickle character requires constant movement and audience to satisfy his overwhelming need for communication. Often these people also have the ability to perceive the supersensible. Relying on this gift, they sometimes can benefit for themselves.

Sharp chin

Professionally, they are not only excellent workers, but also have the ability to make decisions quickly. If women with pointed chins reach heights in social activities, then men with this type of chin are distinguished by outstanding technical abilities. Women and men with this chin shape sometimes experience difficulties in their personal lives, they cannot cope with their own feelings. This leads to misunderstandings, for example, someone with a sharp chin, thanks to his gullibility, sees more in flirting than it really is. Women with a sharp chin often have excellent vocal abilities, which is especially admired by men. However, these ladies are gullible and enthusiastic, they are ready to rush headlong into a marriage, the stability of which raises great doubts.

Wide chin

This strong chin testifies to a correct, honest person who has a lot of self-confidence and finds satisfaction in work. Everything that he begins is brought to an end. It seems that a wide chin has inexhaustible reserves of energy. Business and social success of these people is a matter of course.

Their sense of justice brings them a lot of sympathy. Not without envious people. Negative traits: pronounced stubbornness and a tendency to aggression. True, these character traits appear, as experience shows, only in rare cases.

Wide chin

Such people defend their honor very decisively, in this case the jokes stop instantly. The palette of their feelings is diverse – from the expressed instinct of a protector to deep love for their own children and the ability to sympathize with others, but in relation to their partner they often cannot show their feelings, possibly fearing to lose control over themselves.

If someday a man with a wide chin is deceived by his mistress, he will be consistent to the end and will never forgive such an offense.

Angled chin

Looking at a person with an angular chin, one can immediately say that he is a fighter, energetic and active, sometimes even prone to bitterness and rudeness. Such a character does not tolerate defeat. Such a person never forgets disrespect and insults, because he can be incredibly vindictive.People with such a chin shape are unlikely to rush headlong into professional or personal life, but will act, as a rule, according to a carefully developed plan. But, it is known that life does not always go according to plan, and sometimes it brings surprises. Despite their vitality, a person with an angular chin does not feel the joy of being. His penchant for exaggerated discipline makes him a dry pedant. For full communication, he lacks flexibility.

Angled chin

If the energy and fighting spirit of such a person is directed in the wrong direction, then he can easily find himself in a criminal environment.Criminals in criminal cases in the economy and even rapists often have this chin shape.

People with angular chins like to live in grand style. If they, against expectation, ever find themselves in tight financial circumstances, they will never admit their misfortune, but rather write a false check. A love affair due to a number of misunderstandings can easily turn into chaos for them. They were not born to love and be loved. Because of their rude demeanor, a potential partner is more likely to flee than to bed.Women of this type usually dominate the partnership, and not of their own free will, just the main role is imposed on them by fate. But experience proves that they can be satisfied with such a situation.

Protruding chin

This predominantly male chin shape indicates a lot of self-confidence, sometimes overconfidence and aggressiveness. Having a strong will, the owner of such a chin can direct negative character traits in a favorable direction.Success very early accompanies such a person. He is considered a natural born entrepreneur or manager. Often these people have a special sense of language, which helps them achieve leadership positions in the service.

Their restless nature is dangerous to both their business and their personal lives. They may suddenly quit a good job and do something completely different, such as choosing an art-related profession. It is worth noting that they often have a pronounced creative talent and know how to make friends.

Protruding chin

They hardly need to worry about their physical health. Their physical strength and strong physique tend to make them envious. Women with protruding chins are considered to be very ambitious in pursuit of a career and are endowed with striking beautiful breasts. They have a reliable instinct to find the right man who can meet their varied needs.

Women in science usually have financial difficulties. But if they have enough money, they scatter it left and right, although some of them are as poor as church mice.

Long chin

A long chin indicates a very emotional, often mentally unstable person. Due to innate instability of character, they are sometimes prone to gambling. When they are possessed by excitement, they are capable of uncontrollable risk.

Surprisingly, it seems that people with long chins always have money, and it is unclear whether they got it legally. But their wealth can be used by others. Positive traits are organizational talent and the ability to make friends. Professionally, they do not seek to achieve leadership positions, since they are completely devoid of vanity. But thanks to their bright abilities, they often occupy a high position.

Long chin

Happiness, which does not always accompany them in the game, they find in abundance in love. Women and men with this chin shape can show a lot of tenderness towards their partner. They usually receive a lot of attention from the opposite sex. Their vibrant love life is able to compensate for some of the difficulties in their lives.

Beveled chin

People with a sloping chin, according to XiangMing, do not have a lot of ambition, so promotion is not the main thing for them in life. However, they are very popular due to their peacefulness. Their interests are mainly focused on creating for themselves the most peaceful life possible.

Beveled chin

The period between the ages of 35 and 50 can be very hectic, and the blows of fate are possible. They must reckon with a dramatic turn in their lives. The problems that have arisen can be solved by these people only when they learn to overcome their passivity, indifference and vigorously fight for happiness.

Split chin

People with a split chin captivate with their passion for adventure, and it seems that they are constantly waiting for a new challenge of fate. Cheerful in temper and balanced, they have the image of good companions. This assessment is fully consistent with reality.

Ambition and panache are foreign to these people, although they like to be in the spotlight. They undoubtedly enjoy the sympathy of others, so they rarely appear alone. Such people enter into numerous relationships, and each time they fall deeply and seriously in love. They know how to enjoy love and sex with their beloved (beloved). But one should not expect loyalty from them. The constant search for perfect happiness makes them tireless. They seem to be full of boundless vitality, which helps them to maintain mental youth until old age.

Split chin

30 years, 60, 65 and 75 years are the most eventful years in the lives of these individuals. Success in professional activity (for both men and women) is facilitated by their attractive appearance. But they must show their readiness to achieve something themselves. If there is a dimple in the middle of a split chin, then this person, according to interpreters, has a more serious character. In love, he will be lucky to find a permanent and reliable partner. However, on his part, accidental betrayal is not excluded, but this will not lead to a quick break in relations.

Double chin

Regarding the double chin, XiangMing says: late happiness, after 60 years – double happiness. A double chin is a predominantly female chin shape. It is easy to assume that these people know how to enjoy life, especially food. They can withstand extremely heavy loads and skillfully engage in dialogue in discussions. Obviously, their cheerful nature is appreciated, as their company is always welcome.Surprisingly, people with double chins sometimes have a passionate temperament.

Double chin

Men with this chin shape often have a penchant for unusual professions, but in any case show a special talent for making big money. However, accumulating wealth does not satisfy these people. They can be unusually generous and can easily part with money.

The face reflects the character of a person through a look, a pattern of wrinkles, the corners of the lips. But his individual features have long been endowed with special personality traits, as evidenced by popular phrases and sayings: an intelligent forehead, honest eyes, a strong-willed chin. This article is devoted to the latter.

Chin Styles

Physiognomists distinguish the following types of chins:

  • Forked. Testifying to the passion of nature.
  • Tilted back. Characterizes patient and compliant people.
  • Double.Gives out lovers of sensuality.
  • Oval. Typical for creative people.
  • Round. Inherent in good organizers.
  • Sharpened. Inherent in cunning and insincere people.
  • Square. Indicates firmness of character and the presence of stubbornness.

The last option is the answer to the question: what does a strong-willed chin look like? Obviously, the more he moves forward and the more powerful it seems, the more powerful personality appears before people. It is difficult to negotiate with this person. Therefore, in dealing with him, it is preferable to use decisiveness, strength and fearlessness.

Influence of installations

Modern psychology classifies physiognomy as a pseudoscience that does not have an evidence base. At the same time, he recognizes the influence of social attitudes on the human personality. Perceiving the appearance and behavior of another person, each endows him with character traits based on stereotypes prevailing in society. Scientist A.A. Bodalev in his experiments clearly demonstrated this phenomenon.

Two groups of subjects were shown a portrait of the same person. They were asked to give him an oral description. Only to the first group was a person introduced by a criminal, and to the second by a famous scientist. As a result of the experiment, two mutually exclusive variants of the characteristic were obtained. The offender appeared as a cruel person with a suspicious look and a massive jaw, indicating ruthlessness. To the second group, the scientist’s eyes seemed tired, the expression on his face was intelligent, and its lower part testified to perseverance and perseverance. This confirms the idea that a strong-willed chin is a kind of stereotype of perception that has developed in society.

Distribution of the concept

The chin is responsible for the shape of the face as a whole, completing its lower part. Each race has its own characteristics in its structure. So, Negroids differ in slightly developed chins, Mongoloids – in their almost complete absence. And representatives of the white race have the most pronounced lower part of the face. The most developed jaw, affecting its shape, is in the Americans. It is they who are closest to the ideal of what people put into the concept of “strong-willed chin.”

It is believed that it was the Americans who largely contributed to the spread of this term. Hollywood actor Spencer Tracy (1900-1967), who played gangsters at the beginning of his career, replaced the “American jaw” with a more glamorous concept, endowing his heroes with masculinity and strong-willed principles instead of arrogance and rudeness. With his light hand, a prominent chin became a sign of a real man, which began to influence the perception of others.

Male Features

A strong-willed chin in men is often combined with large facial features: developed superciliary arches, a wide nose and prominent cheekbones. It is characteristic of people of an athletic build, in which broad shoulders with a bulging chest rise above narrow hips. Against the background of a well-developed trapezius muscle, the neck also seems more massive.Long arms, large bones of the skeleton and developed muscles indicate strength and a certain amount of aggression. Such men make either good athletes or leaders.

Male athletes are distinguished by developed logical thinking, strong character and ability to withstand pressure from others. Public opinion associates them with real masculinity and ascribes to them the presence of the following character traits: confidence, determination, physical endurance, competitiveness, perseverance.Often they are condemned for thick skin, aggressiveness, or, on the contrary, passivity. But it was noticed that during the period of increased hormonal levels (ovulation), women subconsciously choose men with a strong-willed chin.

Outstanding representatives

Various world publications regularly conduct a rating of the most handsome and sexy men on the planet (Heart world, Life). Looking at portraits of celebrities, it is easy to understand what a strong-willed chin means. This is an invariable attribute of all sex symbols of our time.It is possessed not only by actors who traditionally star in action films – Steven Seagal, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lundgren. But also handsome George Clooney, Robert Pattinson, Justin Timberlake.

The situation is similar among Russians. Sex symbols from Nikolai Eremenko to Vasily Stepanov (blockbuster “Inhabited Island”) have an outstanding lower part of the face. Among the legendary politicians, whose contribution to history is confirmed by time, there are also many men distinguished by the presence of a strong-willed chin: John F. Kennedy, Winston Churchill, Joseph Stalin. The existing exceptions only confirm the rule.

Strong-willed chin in women

Among women, there are also athletes whose figure resembles a man’s. Their chins are often rather rough looking. This is due to the high levels of the male hormone testosterone. The prominent lower part of the face scares off the stronger sex, because it indicates the sexual activity of women. For a long-term relationship, men are intuitively looking for a partner in whose loyalty they want to be confident. Therefore, polls show that women with strong-willed chins seem less attractive to them. The study was published in Personality And Individual Differences, citing developments from several universities in North America.

Notable persons

The conclusions are confirmed by examples from the life of celebrities. So, the Duchess of Cornwall, whose strong-willed chin can be seen in the photograph, had an affair with Prince Charles before her divorce from her first spouse, Andrew Parker Bowles. And the owner of a neat lower part of her face, Joan Woodward, spent her entire life married to Paul Newman, a Hollywood star who drove women crazy with his bottomless blue eyes.

Women’s strong-willed chins rarely have a quadrangular shape. They are more rounded and more attractive in appearance. They often make the proportions of the face, especially in the lower third, more correct and perfect. Among the celebrities with a protruding jaw are Julianne Moore, Cynthia Nixon, Ksenia Sobchak. Many Hollywood careers began with chin augmentation through implantation. Among women, Angelina Jolie, Haley Berry, Jennifer Aniston decided on such an operation. Their appearance has benefited so much from this that today many are wondering how to make a strong-willed chin.

Mentoplasty

The section of plastic surgery for correcting the size and shape of the chin is called mentoplasty. To increase it, an implant is inserted under the periosteum. The operation does not leave any scars in a conspicuous place, because the incision is made on the mucous membrane of the oral part of the face. The rehabilitation period does not exceed three days. Surgeon Brent Möllken from California talks about hundreds of men who are trying to change their appearance in this way. The actors do this because they no longer want to play the role of weak characters, and the characters require a certain type of face.

Why do women do it? To look like real ladies. Implantation solves several problems at once:

  1. The proportions of the face are corrected.
  2. The neck is visually extended.
  3. Cheeks are removed, making the cheekbones more prominent.
  4. The double chin is removed if necessary.

Many years have passed since the times of Aristotle and Hippocrates, who saw the connection between a person’s appearance and his character traits. The idea of the ideal appearance of a person, which evokes respectful perception of others, is changing. Today, a strong-willed chin is becoming one of its most important indicators.

What does the dimple on the chin mean?

It is fundamentally wrong to think that the science that studies the features of appearance has appeared only recently. It just wasn’t taken seriously for a while. They did not attach much importance to the features of the structure of faces and their connection with the character of a person. Only recently this ancient science acquired the name – physiognomy. But our distant ancestors, although they did not give names, already then knew how much the shape and structure of a person could tell about a person. Even in ancient China, sages predicted fate based on these signs. And very successful! So one of the emperors received a prediction about a brilliant future, when he was only a poor, unknown orphan.

The value of the chin shape

The Chinese called the forehead “the sky of the face”, and the chin, respectively, “the earth”. A considerable number of sages relied on these two components in their conclusions, considering them the most important for a person. Moreover, it is interesting that the shape of the forehead was much more important for men. The chin could tell more about a woman’s fate. This is due to the fact that the lower face of the Chinese was associated with the earth, which means the feminine principle. While the sky was the masculine principle.A narrow and short lower face was considered a bad sign that would adversely affect future fate. A wide chin, for both men and women, on the contrary, meant prosperity in the future.

He promised a happy, quiet old age, in which the owner will know more happiness than adversity, will enjoy the benefits that he acquired through hard work throughout his life. He foreshadowed a comfortable living, absence of health problems, prosperity and fame. Also, a very good sign for a person was called protruding chins in every possible way: upturned (then the type of face was called “heaven and earth looking at each other”), fleshy and massive, full, protruding forward. They talked about the strong will of a person, his ability to cope with any adversity, as well as love for earthly goods and increased sexuality.

The Chinese considered a favorable face shape to be a real gift from above, a gift from the gods. People with the “correct” face shape were automatically ranked as successful, if not now, then in the foreseeable future. And of course they were not threatened with a miserable old age in poverty, however it really was. No one knows for sure if their predictions were true, but this tradition lasted a very, very long time.

Double chin

No matter how strange it may seem in our age of struggle with obesity, the Chinese considered a double chin to be the most favorable sign. However, this form can be not only in overweight people. Contrary to popular belief, slender people also have a double chin. In China, this was the best guarantee of well-being after the age of fifty.

Such a chin foreshadowed comfort and calmness upon reaching old age.But even at a younger age, its owners became successful in their profession, received financial stability. It was believed that such people rarely deny themselves sensual pleasures, even in old age. Also, their desires throughout their life coincide with the possibilities.

Chin dimple: meaning

In simple language, this is the name for a depression on the human skin. If we are talking about the face, then most often we mean the dimples on the cheeks, which some people have when they smile, or the dimple on the chin.Often they are most noticeable at an early age, and over the years they smoothen or disappear altogether. This is due to the fact that our facial muscles are gradually lengthening. But some retain this feature until old age. It is also currently possible to create dimples artificially – using plastic surgery.

Each feature in physiognomy has a certain meaning. So a dimple on the chin means, in the popular interpretation, the benevolence of a person. This definition is especially true for men, and the very shape of the chin is of greater importance for them.Surprisingly, here we and the inhabitants of Ancient China have an almost unanimous opinion. The dimple on the chin in the science of physiognomy characterizes a person as the owner of a strong, unbending will.

Such men are real fighters, they are decisive and have an established firm and even tough character. But at the same time, they can be described as connoisseurs of the fair sex with a bright temperament. It is believed that such people attract the attention of women and therefore are spoiled by them. Sometimes a dimple can mean a two-faced character. Its quirky owner is very versatile, capable of achieving his goals, both with the help of cunning and enviable stubbornness.

The meaning of the chin and character | Physiognomy

Consider the physiognomic meaning of the chin. As for the chin and jaws, they are almost inseparable, and therefore are often discussed together in Chinese texts. These two traits govern later life and are located in positions 60 to 79, and 98 and 99 on the left side.

Well developed jaws on a round or square face, in agreement with the general contour of the face, usually indicate a strong character. With a round face, the jaws indicate affection, generosity and self-control, provided that they are wide and covered with a strong and abundant whip. With a square face, they speak of a person of great determination with a firm or difficult character. These jaws are commonly associated with professional athletes or the military. Generally speaking, however, the face reader should keep in mind that wide jaws and a wide chin are a sign of a strong character, as long as they are not tainted by other bad facial features (such as a weak or broken nose or lifeless eyes).A person, whether male or female, with such a jaw and chin is likely to have a very fortunate life if the other facial features are favorable and in balance and proportion.

As a rule, the wider the jaw, the wider the chin (Fig. 181). The size and position of the two should be well matched. A wide and slightly raised chin is absolutely essential to balance the entire face. This indicates happiness and security later in life.

A weak and pressed chin “is a clear sign of a fatal flaw in character and destiny.A weak chin puts all other facial features in a disadvantageous position, starting from the forehead and below (Fig. 182).

Severe chin cleft ”(Fig. 183) as a result of splitting of the bone structure or flesh covering the chin is known as a“ chin split ”. As a “rule of thumb” we can say that such a gap indicates a cordial, gentle, passionate nature. This is common among artists, actors, musicians, inventors and writers, i.e. among people whose creative work generates high emotions.

The meaning of the chin. However, if a “chin split” is the result of bony structure rather than skin that has good tension along the entire length of the cleft, and if it is accompanied by defective irises, and possibly an imperfect nasal bridge, then it could mean unnatural death. A “split chin” in the absence of other defects indicates possible problems with immersion in introspection.

In some cultures, a pointed chin in women is considered a sign of beauty (Fig.184).

Chin value. A wide jaw and a wide chin on a broad face (Fig. 185) is a sign of a strong personality. Such traits are often found in people of great strength and dexterity. Nothing can make such people deviate from the achievement of the intended goal. However, a long chin with underdeveloped flesh is a sign of an unsuccessful financial businessman. If the chin is flat, then this indicates that the person is not resourceful.

Heavy jaws protruding from both sides of the lower part of the face and clearly visible when viewed from behind (Fig. 186) indicate a rebel, a person of strong, uncontrollable passions.

What does a dimple on the chin mean in men?

I heard that this means that a man likes to walk to the left. There may be more versions.

Yanamarina

Nothing other than the fact that such a man’s face adds attractiveness to a man automatically. It is dangerous to have such a life partner for a woman who is not sure of her superiority over her husband. With a worthless wife, such a man will not resist the temptation to be in someone’s tender hands in addition to the lawful hands of his wife.

The point is not that a man will necessarily be a walker, but that a dimple is a bonus that enhances his attractiveness. Not every male can resist temptation. For this, there must be substantial constraints, and the man must be well-fed and lazy, at the very least.

And so, there is nothing dangerous and intimate in this sign, if you do not take into account that it is dominant and is inherited.

I heard and even was in complete confidence that a dimple on his chin indicates that a man will only have sons, but life shows that this is just a common misconception – so the owner of one of the most beautiful dimples on his chin, Til Schweiger, has three daughters. In fact, like any other anatomical feature, a dimple on the chin may not mean anything, but it certainly adds to the man’s attractiveness, although I prefer the dimples on the cheeks. And popularity with a female always has a great influence on the formation of a man’s character, and he may try to become more masculine and purposeful, just to follow the established stereotype and please female expectations.

Ulyana-nik

Not always a dimple on the chin means that a man with a strong character and self-confidence.As a rule, the owner of a dimple on his chin is kind and this is a fact, since I have many such acquaintances. Such a person is also attractive to women, they consider him passionate and temperamental. Physiognomists say that he is capable of making decisions.

A striking example of an actor with a dimple in his chin – John Travolta

Men with a “dimple” on the chin have a very strong character, determination, strong will and perseverance – this is their character trait.

Such men are very popular with women, so they say that this is because of the “dimple” on the chin.

From a medical point of view, a dimple in the chin is just a lack of connective tissue development. From the point of view of physiognomy, the meaning of a dimple on the chin in men, in different cultures, has its own meaning, but most often this feature means goodwill, firmness of character, ingenuity and cunning. Men with a dimple on their chin almost never lack female attention…

Vili borisovich

From a scientific point of view, it does not mean anything, as well as a strong-willed chin. The only scientific explanation is the lack of connective tissue. And from the point of view of life. Women like such a dimple, which gives the owner of such a dimple an advantage in dealing with the weaker sex, and, as a result, a promotion.

Once I heard that a dimple on the chin means that its owner is loving and loved by women. But the way it is, such a dimple adds irresistibility, then everything is correct. So it is, I think that this means that a man is decisive, handsome and enjoys the love of women.

A dimple on a man’s face is a feature of the physiological structure of a given individual’s face and nothing more.

But if we assume that 2×2 = 5, you can see a lot of interesting things in this dimple.

For example, a very purposeful womanizer.

Mustard

Nothing special. This is just a physiological feature, a special physiognosis. For girls, dimples on their cheeks give them attractiveness, a special zest. Dimples on the face simply make a person’s face stand out from other faces, nothing more.

Stealth

It means that with age-related growth of the musculocutaneous mass of the face, the connective tissue in the center of the chin is not fully developed relative to the structure of neighboring tissues. You can even say that this is a slight ugliness, and nothing more!

Marina Makyan

For a man, a dimple on the chin is a sign of determination, determination and strong will and character. This trait was possessed by benevolent people. Sometimes a dimple can mean a two-faced character in a man.

Facial features can tell a lot about a person. The chin is the place where will, determination and firmness of character are reflected.
If a man has a large square chin, protruding forward, he will be able to achieve great success in military affairs, sports and environmental protection. But he can hardly count on more.
In women, a large chin indicates the ability to self-sacrifice. They can surround almost any man with affection, care, become his reliable friend and support.

If a man’s chin protrudes significantly forward, it means that he is a shrewd, sarcastic person. He is more accustomed to taking everything by cunning than by force. Able to achieve a lot, but does not always pay attention to the little things. These people are rarely rich and do not bathe in the glory for long.
In women, such a protruding chin indicates their sexuality, sensuality and initiative in love relationships.
If a man has a chin pushed back, then he is an indecisive and weak person. It is much better for him to weigh everything and estimate than to decide on spontaneous actions. It is not typical for such a person to linger for a long time at the top of fame. His actions do not always get good marks. And the owners of such a chin are often very jealous and envious.
If a man has an outstanding chin combined with a narrow and sloping forehead, it means that the person does not have the best character and should be treated with caution.
If a man or woman has a split chin, it means the desire to be always loved and desired. Life foreshadows such people with stormy romances and disappointments.
And if there are moles on the chin, then its owner is a lover of travel, adventures and political intrigue. A mole in the center of the chin can indicate both great successes and scandalous defeats.

90,000 A woman’s inconsistency betrays her cheekbones :: Society :: RBC

Large, pronounced cheekbones, which, by modern standards, are a sign of female beauty, testify to the inconstancy of a woman due to her excessive sexual activity, scientists have found. At the same time, a prominent chin, on the contrary, repels the opposite sex.

According to a study published in the latest issue of Personality and Individual Differences, women with thicker jaws are more sexually active than women with softer cheekbones. The reason for this is the male hormone testosterone, which is the reason for the development of a large chin.

In the course of the study, a group of young women were asked to answer a number of questions concerning their intimate life and sexual fantasies. After that, a group of men, not seeing the results of the previous survey, rated the participants in the experiment according to their attractiveness as potential sexual partners.

As it turned out, women with prominent cheekbones showed the most pronounced sexual desire, but men found attractive other participants in the experiment – with a small and softly defined chin.

“It is difficult to hide physical signs, such as facial features, which are partly dependent on testosterone levels and overlap to some extent with a person’s sex life,” the study says. “This is the first study we know to prove that women with more masculine faces less sexually restricted. ”

According to the authors of the report, sympathy for women with a small chin is explained by the “desire to evolve”: men subconsciously choose the right partners who can give birth to children only to them.

Perioral Dermatitis – BIOSPHERE – Beauty Industry Experts

“Recently I noticed that there were several small red pimples on my chin – I started using acne cream

and washed my face more often, but it only got worse.Within a few weeks, the skin around the mouth and on the chin became just red, and pimples were still appearing
and appeared, the skin began to peel off and become crusted “- if you heard something like that from your client, most likely it is about perioral dermatitis.

Signs and causes of occurrence

Perioral dermatitis is an inflammatory skin disease characterized by the appearance of erythema (redness), against the background of which small papular or papulo-vesicular rashes and peeling appear.Typical localization is the area around the mouth, chin, less often – the periorbital area. A characteristic sign of dermatitis is the presence of intact skin in the immediate vicinity of the red border of the lips. Sometimes the rash is accompanied by a burning sensation, tightness, soreness. Most often occurs in women 90,084 at the age of 20-40 years.

Perioral dermatitis must be differentiated from the following diseases:

1. Rosacea . With rosacea, the process develops gradually: first, hyperemia appears, then papules, pustules, etc.e. Perioral dermatitis develops quickly and has no staging. The presence of telangiectasias is characteristic only of rosacea.

2. Seborrheic dermatitis . Rashes are often localized on the scalp, the border of hair growth, eyebrows, eyelashes, mustache and beard, nasolabial folds, the skin of the external auditory canals and behind the ear areas and are accompanied by the appearance of shiny yellowish fatty scales. Itching is characteristic. More common in men.

3. Acne (acne) . Erythema is usually absent. The skin of the face is oily, with a large number of comedones and conical papules. It occurs more often at a younger age.

4. Contact dermatitis . There is a connection between the onset of the disease and exposure to irritants and allergens. The main difference is pronounced itching, which is not characteristic of perioral dermatitis.

Factors contributing to the development of perioral dermatitis:

– Uncontrolled use of glucocorticoids (creams, ointments and other means)

– Regular use of dense decorative cosmetics and cosmetic products
with an occlusive effect

– Excessive insolation

– Use of fluoride toothpastes

– Hormonal disorders (including taking contraceptives), gastrointestinal diseases

– Carrying out aggressive cosmetic procedures (peelings, laser resurfacing, etc.))
without proper preparation and rehabilitation

– Decreased immunity, increased sensitivity to bacterial agents (mites of the genus Demodex, fungi of the genus Candida)

Treatment, correction and prevention

When prescribing treatment, it is necessary to take into account the severity of the disease. In mild stages, start with “zero therapy”. Exclude the use of corticosteroids (external
and systemic). Stop using cleansing and moisturizing cosmetics (except for special ones), decorative cosmetics, fluoridated toothpastes.A hypoallergenic diet is recommended. Eggs, fish, sausages, canned food, citrus fruits, carrots
and red peppers, coffee, alcoholic beverages are excluded. It is important to observe the drinking regime, normalize sleep, and sufficient physical activity. If there is no effect for 2 weeks or with a more severe course, topical agents based on azelaic acid
and metronidazole are used (prescribed by a doctor). Perhaps the appointment of antihistamines and sedatives. In severe cases, systemic antibiotic and retinoid therapy is used.

For the correction, prevention and elimination of the consequences of perioral dermatitis, Light soothing cream EGIA is suitable. The cream has a pronounced soothing
and anti-inflammatory effect, does not contain components that irritate the skin. Light emulsion texture, absence of occlusive and comedogenic effect makes it possible to use it during rehabilitation after postponed dermatitis, including
and perioral dermatitis.

90,000 Mentoplasty surgery cost, prices in Moscow

For a man, a large wide chin is a sign of masculinity, but such a chin will definitely not decorate a woman … It is logical that lovely ladies are more often interested in chin reduction, and men, on the contrary, want to add volume to it to make it brutal.

It is possible to correct the shape, size, length of the chin, remove various defects and the consequences of injuries by resorting to mentoplasty.

Mentoplasty: what is it

Mentoplasty is a plastic surgery to correct the shape, size of the chin and eliminate its defects. The main goal of this operation is to form correct and aesthetically pleasing facial proportions.

Most often, patients and patients who have the following indications apply for mentoplasty:

  • irregular chin shape, which creates a violation of the integral harmony of the face;
  • large and heavy chin, making the face too voluminous at the bottom;
  • double chin or chin dimple;
  • 90,080 slanted chin;

    90,080 signs of underdevelopment of the chin;

  • asymmetric chin contours;
  • congenital or acquired defects of the chin.

Sometimes chin mentoplasty is combined with laser liposuction – removal of fat deposits in the chin and upper neck. Laser liposuction will be relevant in cases where the double chin is formed not only by the structural features of the bone structures, but also by the presence of excess fat deposits. Liposuction softens and “lightens” the contours of the chin, making them clearer and more expressive.

Mentoplasty in Moscow can also be combined with rhinoplasty, cheekbone plasty, contour plasty of the corners of the lower jaw, removal of lumps of bisha – at one time the imperfections of different parts of the face are eliminated and the face is brought to certain harmonious proportions. If the chin needs a slight correction, the surgeon can offer a non-surgical method – modeling with fillers.

Standard contraindications for mentoplasty are: dysfunction of the thyroid gland, severe cardiovascular diseases, viral and infectious diseases, hypertension to a certain extent, diabetes mellitus, poor blood clotting, pregnancy and lactation, “fresh” injuries in the chin area.

Peculiarities of mentoplasty

Mentoplasty: chin augmentation. Most often, in this case, we are talking about pushing the jaw forward or about implantation. The surgeon makes an incision on the inside of the lip, through which the implant is placed, made of neutral materials that do not cause rejection of the body. The implant can be used both to augment the chin and to correct its shape and eliminate asymmetry.

Inserting an implant is considered to be technically simpler operation. Surgeons call her only drawback finding a foreign body. But, given the composition and safety of modern implants, such a disadvantage is perceived by many specialists and patients as insignificant. In addition, for some patients and patients, it is possible to use their own bone tissue as an implant, which is separated from the lower jaw and thus makes the chin longer.

Osteotomy will be the optimal solution when you need to change the length and projection of the chin. But there is no need to expect a special increase in volume after an osteotomy.

An alternative option for chin augmentation can be lipofilling: the patient’s own processed fat is injected by injection. The procedure is characterized by low trauma, short rehabilitation and almost zero risk of rejection of the introduced material, since the composition “familiar” to the body is used. The only drawback of this method is its temporality: the effect is sufficient for a period of one to several years.

Mentoplasty: chin reduction. If it is necessary to reduce the chin, the operation is aimed at removing the cartilage and bone structures that create excess volume. In such cases, the surgeon partially removes the bone (and cartilaginous) tissue, then painstakingly shapes the shape of the chin and finally sutures. The incision is also made “from the inside” to gain access from the inside of the lip. There are no scars after such an operation. In especially difficult cases, the surgeon may decide to carry out the correction through the open access.

In our clinic, such variants of mentoplasty are also performed, when the installation of implants is combined with the reduction of individual parts of the chin. The surgeon, when planning the course of the chin correction operation, must take into account the proportions of the face and offer the patient the shape and size of the chin, which will create an overall harmony of facial features. Computer simulation helps to determine the desired result of mentoplasty before it is performed and to draw up the correct intervention tactics.

Rehabilitation after mentoplasty

On average, healing lasts about two weeks, with a complex and large-scale intervention, this period can increase up to a month or even more. During recovery, the patient should wear a fixing bandage on her head. The stitches, if necessary, are removed 3-7 days after the operation.

For some time, in addition to standard restrictions (physical activity, sauna, swimming pool, etc.), you will have to take only liquid and very soft food. This measure is necessary to avoid severe pain and displacement of the implant (if inserted). Edema in the area of intervention in the first days is considered a normal and even expected phenomenon, which gradually “self-destructs”.

The final result of mentoplasty can be assessed in 4-6 months. There are situations when our patients become nervous: the chin due to edema seems too big, it hurts to eat. All these phenomena do not make the mood great, but they are within the normal limits, because the operation was performed.

The surgeon very closely monitors the condition of the operated area, in some cases the swelling disappears to the end only after a few months. Yes, this happens very rarely and here the characteristics of the patient’s body play an important role, but it happens. Therefore, there is no need to worry: if you have trusted the DECA surgeon, you can safely count on a good result.

How much does mentoplasty cost

The specific cost of chin correction can only be determined after meeting with the surgeon.
