This book is all about self-love, and how your ability (or inability) to love yourself sets the stage for your entire life. It’s a bit over-the-top with it’s promises, but I do remember having massive mind explosions when first reading it.

Also, I adore Louise Hay and her affirmation work. So yeah, this book stays on the list of self-help books for weight loss.

So, you tried to lose weight, but you didn’t succeed. Obviously, you are doing something wrong. It means that something is bothering you. The reasons can be different, wrong attitude, motivation, wrong work with the environment, wrong regime and diet, bad habits, lifestyle, lack of physical activity, and so on. There are many factors that affect the success of losing weight.But in order to identify them, you need to at least know what we are dealing with. Here is one VERY USEFUL exercise for introspection from my weight loss course. Use it and you will understand why you still have not been able to lose weight. I highly recommend that you take it as seriously as possible, allocate time for the task, because it can take several hours, or even a whole day. But believe me, the results will be worth the time.Often it is simply necessary to formalize / voice and analyze your own thoughts. What will we do.

Exercise:
Create a 3-column table. The most convenient way to do this is on a computer, but a regular lined sheet will do.

The principle of the dominant does not allow the subconscious to form many equivalent foci of excitement and sends all the energy of mental reactions to the execution of only one, the most important task at this moment – that is, the dominant allows you to concentrate on one thing, suppressing and ignoring everything else.

But if the animal’s dominants, that is, needs, are not so many – to feed, avoid danger, mate, then in a modern civilized man, who are still found among us, their number is enormous. Physiological needs: hunger, thirst, sex drive, the need for warmth, light – are replaced by needs for personal safety, love and creativity. And the need for respect is replaced by a craving for knowledge, a desire for aesthetic and spiritual satisfaction. Over the years, many have not yet cooled down the need for self-realization and procreation.Each of these biological, social, spiritual, etc. needs can become your dominant in a certain part of your life.

What a vigorous and elastic gait you have, nothing hurts, does not pull, does not press. All just great!

Imagine that a car hits a person in front of your eyes. I am sure that you will experience this tragedy for a very long time, unwittingly thinking that you could also be in the place of the shot down person. This image will be so strong and negative that many will be able to get rid of its influence only after many years. Moreover, all this time he will simulate your behavior, forcing you to cross the roadway more carefully and cautiously.At the same time, you will invariably feel fear and insecurity. But it is worth clearing this dominant from your head with the help of another emotional image, arousing a new, stronger dominant – and all uncertainty will be removed as if by hand.

Not so long ago, Newsweek magazine published a study of British scientists from the Universities of Newcastle and Edinburgh on obesity. These experts set out to understand why people who were on a diet and finally lost weight sooner or later gain weight again? Over the years, there have been numerous studies of thousands of volunteers who want to lose weight (I dare to assume that there were many such volunteers!).As a result of the study, an amazing conclusion was made: “Their own brain, that is, the subconscious mind, does not allow a person to lose weight and avoid returning the lost kilograms!”

Weight gain occurs very slowly and imperceptibly, continuing for years. And as soon as a person begins to gain weight, the brain begins to gradually “reprogram”, getting used to its new image. Begins to perceive extra pounds as normal! This process is also very slow, and just as slowly a new image of ourselves, beloved, is formed in our subconscious.

All further attempts to dramatically change oneself, to lose weight, are interpreted by the subconscious (accustomed to being overweight) as a shock situation and a global threat to survival, so it does everything in its power to prevent this process. It automatically slows down the metabolism, trying to stop the “terrible” process of losing the “strategic reserves of the Motherland.” And, as a rule, it gets its way.

After a while, the subconscious mind manages to reverse the situation so that in any way the lost kilograms will invariably return.After all, even after losing weight, a person, as a rule, continues to perceive himself as complete for a long time! He sees himself as complete in the future, is afraid of the return of fullness and subconsciously continues to consider overweight as his norm. Many of my patients have told me how in their dreams they still see themselves as full and, waking up in the morning, without opening their eyes yet, fearfully feel their new body.

To lose weight and, most importantly, to maintain a new weight, you can only make a kind of psychological reboot of your subconscious, adopting a new image that gives birth to a new optimal program for maintaining a new weight norm.It is very difficult to do, especially in a short time, but if you can do it in your head, you can do it in life. And you can lose weight without even really changing your lifestyle and eating habits. The body itself will gradually rebuild itself to a new image and change everything. Literally before our eyes, food habits and metabolic rate will change, which will bring the weight in line with the new optimal norm. Simply because now the brain will perceive the extra pounds as a threat to the body’s survival.

This principle is the basis of the practice of many weight correction centers using the services of professional psychologists. Another thing is that there are not so many real professionals in this field in our country. Psychology has turned from art in our country into a fashionable craft, when communication with patients is put on a “conveyor belt” and group lessons have replaced the individual approach (a way to quickly pump money out of the population).

Now both ordinary psychologists and other representatives of the “weight loss industry” are trying to solve the problem of excess weight.There are many different ways and approaches, from the “Kremlin diet” to hard fasting. Moreover, such methods of losing weight have long been studied in detail and received a negative assessment from the attending physicians in the clinic of the Institute of Nutrition of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences and world-famous physiologists. The whole point, of course, is not that some method is more, but some less effective.The main mistake is that very few people try to find their own way to solve this problem. Most people are in too much of a hurry. They want everything to be as simple and fast as possible.

I was recently in a car service trying to get my car repaired. Considering my work schedule, I don’t have free time at all. I asked the mechanic to repair everything as quickly as possible, to which he, squinting his eyes, asked me: “So how do you like it, faster or more reliable?”

When I come to visit my mother, she constantly praises her little dog to me, which over the years has become the main member of the family. Whatever we talk about, the conversation always comes down to this “handsome” pug. Although (I’ll tell you a secret) this funny dog ​​reminds me of a brush for washing bottles, but my mother does not like him (and this is him!). So, in order to demonstrate to me his “unique” abilities, she gives him various commands: to bark or stand on his hind legs.Each such successful trick is accompanied by a reward or delicacy. I think that this is what prompts him to lazily carry out all the orders of his mistress. This very piece of delicacy is in this case motivation. We, of course, are not dogs, although I know from experience that among people there are those who are ready to sell their Motherland for a chocolate bar!

I have many complete acquaintances and even relatives to whom I sometimes subtly offer my help. But, unfortunately, most of them never go further than desire, they only look for constant excuses for their inaction.Sitting on a regular diet for 2-3 days leads to the subsequent “restoration of the body”, and with it the fact that it was so painfully lost by this very “sitting”! Advice to introduce into your life at least some elements of a healthy lifestyle in the form of feasible physical activity usually do not bring results, and this, as a rule, remains only in the future. As soon as I receive a strict constructive demand to put myself in order, the conversation is immediately imperceptibly transferred to another topic: “No time, tired at work, health is not right, my head hurts …” When meeting such people, one gets the impression that they are not at all they want to lose weight, but simply prove to me and everyone around them that all these methods are either quackery, or for some reason are not good enough for them.

How often you hear the same words: “I know perfectly well what is needed in order to lose weight (not to eat and move more), and if I wanted to, I would quickly lose weight. It’s just that now I … ”and then one of the options follows, which I already know by heart:

• if I had free time, I would, of course, be able to lose weight;

• if I were free, I would not have a husband and children, then I would look slim, healthy and beautiful. I would have had enough free time to devote to his health and figure;

• if I were less years old, I would easily lose weight;

• my obese figure is all heredity, and my grandmother and mother were always fat.I have such a disturbed metabolism;

• I have given birth to children, and therefore my metabolism is disrupted;

• I have no money or time for the gym and any massage there;

• if I had a simulator at home, then I would have had a Hollywood figure for a long time, and if I had a lot of money, then every day I would visit expensive sports centers and expensive beauty salons;

• if my financial situation allowed me, then, of course, I would buy only expensive natural products, and not those that are stuffed with nitrates and other chemicals.And I would eat exceptionally healthy food, for example, some fruits and vegetable salads. In this case, the body would get rid of “toxins”, and I would lose weight!

Immediately I remembered one anecdote: “They bring a prisoner sentenced to death to the electric chair. And this prisoner is so fat, he can’t fit on a chair. They give him a reprieve for a month and the task of losing 30 kilograms. A month passes, they bring this prisoner in again and try to put him on the electric chair. And the prisoner recovered even more! They ask him:

– Why didn’t you lose weight, they told you to lose 30 kg ?!

-? Yes, the motivation is weak! ”

Whatever you say, there are continuous excuses! I’m used to it already.Probably, everyone should just make a choice for themselves: “Either I will do everything to look the way I want, or I will just continue to want it in the future.” Lovely women and respectable men, do not look for excuses for yourself. We must honestly admit, at least to yourself, that you yourself, to put it mildly, launched and no one but yourself is to blame for this. You shouldn’t look for the guilty at all, you have to decide what to do! And act. ACT!! Right now. Not tomorrow or Monday, but today! But to act correctly and competently, without stepping on the same “rake” for the hundredth time.

Although, what am I saying ?! You are already acting – by reading this book! After all, knowledge plus determination is a terrible force!

Every day hundreds of letters come to my email address. In them I often find the same words: “Well, this is not for me! I will not be able to lose weight, my metabolism is disturbed, heredity is to blame, there is no opportunity and money … and so on. ” But one thing stuck in my mind. It was written by a very overweight young woman. She has a family – a husband and two children.Here is what she writes: “I really want to lose weight and have been fighting this problem for more than one year. To my shame, I have no willpower at all. On any diet I can stay no more than two days, then a breakdown and all over again. Just some kind of vicious circle! ”

I ask her in a reply letter: “Tell me, if something (God forbid) happened to your children, are you ready to donate a kidney or liver for them?”

She answers: “At least I will give my life!”

“So (I write to her), you have willpower.You lack motivation! Because in the case of children, you perfectly understand why you are making this sacrifice, and in the case of losing weight, you do not understand why you actually need it. ”

Another example: once a nice woman (a deputy of the State Duma) comes to see me. After a long conversation, she declares to me: “Of course, you are saying everything correctly, but when should I do all this, if at eight in the morning a car comes for me, and I return home only in the evening, after nine?”

I immediately ask her: “Tell me, if for each dropped kilogram you were given a kilogram of gold in bars, would you find the time?” At the same time, I make a gesture with my hand, as if putting a piece of gold on the table.

She, looking at my hand, without hesitation, answers: “Yes, I would have found it! But this is gold! ”

What can you say ?! Probably, we need to come to the understanding that health and a fulfilling life are more valuable than any gold. Until this understanding is there, there will always be excuses for doing nothing. After all, of course, it is much easier to pull on some superfit for weight loss, stick another vibrating butterfly on your ass and sit in front of the TV with a bag of chips, caressing your imagination with the unrealizable hope that everything will somehow resolve itself.

Then you are naively surprised – why in advertising the fat woman quickly became a slender woman, and your condition only worsened? There is another way out – to send this weight loss to hell and wait for the rest of your life for a prince who will love you for who you are, with your deep and all-embracing … spiritual world. Of course, women never knew the answer to the classic question – why do men go for a walk with some, and take others in marriage. They walk with affordable women, and they marry reliable ones, but in either case they choose mostly slim and healthy ones.Trust me – this is a proven fact for centuries!

Of course, some men like chubby women, but not fat cellulite cows. Those who live with fat wives often dream of a slender beauty in their hearts. This is also a fact! And the expression “There should be a lot of good people”, in my opinion, is simply ridiculous. A good person must, first of all, be healthy, and in a healthy body, as they say, and the spirit … is not bad. I am sure that all these exculpatory sayings were once invented by fat men and fat women to justify their inaction.

And at one time I also consoled myself with similar thoughts. But in fact, then, even during my studies at the institute, trying to find at least some way to lose weight, I could only count on the clinic of the Institute of Nutrition with its table number 6 and daily calorie counts. There were, however, also printed on a typewriter for a carbon copy and distributed semi-legally a variety of overseas diets “from the stars.”

In those days, it seems to me, I tried everything that was possible on my own skin, from acupuncture, jars of bromelain to the classic phrase said to me by one nutritionist from the clinic at the Institute of Nutrition: “Eat less and move more “. Ah, if someone then told me how you can quickly and without hunger strikes get rid of the hated belly, I would be ready to give half my life for this! And in the literal and not figurative sense.

But then there were no methods, and then we did not have doctors who understood something in this matter. All worked “the old fashioned way”, and the new and progressive immediately received the stigma of “pseudoscience”. So I had to get to everything myself. Tackle textbooks on biochemistry and physiology, books on sports medicine and pharmacology again.But there weren’t many books then. Rescued “foreign” publications. Therefore, I am now simply amazed at the attitude of some patients, to whom everything is literally “chewed and put in their mouths.” They give a real chance to radically and qualitatively change their lives, and they find some ridiculous excuses to quit everything or stay at home altogether and not go to a doctor who knows the solution with this problem. Either there is no money, now time, now the New Year is on the nose, then a wedding, then an anniversary, then you need to rest …

For some reason I do not feel sorry for such people.If you don’t want to – just stay as it is! Nobody will be sucking and persuading! Then, many years later, lying as a paralyzed carcass on a sagging hospital bed, you may remember that once you had a chance to change your life, but you have it … You have to pay for everything in this life! And the choice must be made!

If you do not believe in your own strength, doubt your willpower, try a small test. Imagine for a moment that if you lose weight, the government (as a popular health promotion program) will immediately provide you with a three-room apartment or a car.Have you presented? Now ask yourself, how soon will you lose this weight? See how your approach has already changed ?! Out of nowhere, both the will and the confidence in victory came! And no doubts remained! This is a significant motive. As soon as it appears, the achievement of the coveted result is just a matter of technology.

Based on my many years of experience, I dare to assure you that it is the right motivation that underlies all cases of successful weight loss.

Therefore, the doctors of our clinic devote a lot of time to shaping it in a patient.

If a person achieved his goal and lost weight surprisingly to everyone, everyone will think that he lost weight solely due to some kind of diet. And it would not even occur to anyone, why then did not thousands of others achieve the same goal, who literally rushed to this diet after the lucky man who lost weight? And everything turns out to be very simple. It was vital for this man to lose weight, and the others followed this diet partly for company, partly to see what happened in the end.

The longer I live, the more I am convinced that thought is material! If a person sees a goal, moves towards it and performs actions, the effectiveness of which does not doubt, his body switches to another mode of operation. Hormones and enzymes are activated that extract fat from the depot. Energy is released from hidden reserves, and the need for food, and therefore appetite, is significantly reduced. So before our eyes, psychology smoothly flows into physiology, that into biochemistry, and at the exit we get the result we need – the fat burns out, and we lose weight.

If weight loss does not occur, then either the motive itself is weak, or the motivation for you is incorrectly formulated.

Since you have had the patience to read my thick book to this page, then I fully admit that you have the desire to get rid of excess weight, and the desire is not weak. But this is not enough! It is important to correctly formulate your goal for yourself. Remember the old, still Soviet film “Sorcerers”? His heroes needed to see their target clearly to get through the walls.As one of the heroes of the film said: “I see the goal! I am confident in success! Everyone, go ahead! ” Such a magical teleportation from a fat body to a beautiful and well-groomed one in our life is not so easy to perform. But the main condition is exactly the same: to clearly understand the ultimate goal. If you accidentally stumble upon some very beautiful and necessary thing in a store, whether it be boots or even a coat, you will convince anyone of the need to purchase it, find or borrow money, but be sure to buy this thing.

I am sure that if a woman sets a goal and does her best to achieve it, then she always succeeds!

Therefore, it would be nice to finally decide on the goal, to understand what exactly you need to lose weight, and whether you need it at all.It seems to me that the time has come to talk about what is right and wrong motivation.
