Fiber is a key component of a healthy diet. Fiber helps with bowel regularity and colon health. Fiber adds bulk to the stool and holds water, making stools easier to pass. There are other potential benefits to healthy fiber intake such as lower incidences of heart disease, better control of blood sugar, and healthy weight maintenance.

Fiber is found naturally in foods you may eat every day. There are two types of fiber: soluble and insoluble. Soluble fiber can be found in dried beans, oats, oat bran, citrus fruits, and apples, among other foods. Soluble fiber serves to slow digestion and therefore slow the body’s absorption of sugar. Soluble fiber also binds fatty acids and removes it from the body, therefore lowering the low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. Insoluble fiber helps hydrate and transport waste through the intestinal tract. This promotes bowel regularity and digestive system health. It is ideal to get your fiber from dietary sources because these foods are rich in other nutrients your body needs. However, if your diet does not contain enough fiber, you may need to take a fiber supplement such as Benefiber or Metamucil.

What are the main differences between Benefiber and Metamucil?

Benefiber is an over-the-counter (OTC) soluble fiber supplement. The active ingredient in Benefiber is wheat dextrin. Benefiber absorbs water in the intestinal tract. This stimulates peristalsis or the repetitive contraction and relaxation of intestinal muscle. While this process ultimately moves intestinal contents, it slows the transit time through the intestine. Benefiber is available as a powder in packets or bulk packaging as well as oral or chewable tablets. There are sugar-free and gluten-free formulations available as well.

Metamucil is an OTC soluble fiber. Metamucil is made from psyllium husks, which come from seeds of an Indian herb known as Plantago ovata. Metamucil works in the same manner as Benefiber, stimulating peristalsis, and slowing intestinal transit. Metamucil is available as a powder in packets or bulk packaging as well as capsules. Some formulations are also sugar-free and gluten-free.

Conditions treated by Benefiber and Metamucil

Benefiber is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a dietary fiber supplement. Due to its ability to add bulk to the stool, it is used off-label, or without FDA approval, as a laxative to treat constipation.

Metamucil is approved as a fiber dietary supplement and in the treatment of occasional constipation. Metamucil’s ability to build bulk in the stool helps produce bowel movements that are easier to pass. Metamucil is also indicated in the reduction of risk of coronary heart disease. This is due to its ability to bind fatty acids and remove them from the body, thereby decreasing LDL cholesterol. Metamucil is used off-label to help control blood sugar in patients with diabetes mellitus. One randomized, controlled trial showed that Metamucil may be beneficial in decreasing symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome as well.

Is Benefiber or Metamucil more effective?

A clinical review published in 2015 sought to evaluate the health outcomes of regular fiber therapy by comparing commercially available fiber products. Researchers describe that a key difference between dextrin (Benefiber) and psyllium (Metamucil) is that dextrin is readily fermented in the intestinal tract. Once fermented, dextrin loses its water-holding capability and therefore is not an effective laxative. Psyllium is not fermented, and thus becomes a viscous, gel-like consistency and can hold water in the stool throughout the large bowel. This provides a hydrated, bulky stool that can be excreted more easily. Furthermore, the American College of Gastroenterology Chronic Constipation Task Force published findings that psyllium was the only fiber supplement that showed enough clinical evidence to support an indication for chronic constipation.

The American Diabetes Association published a meta-analysis in 2019 evaluating fiber supplements’ effects on glycemic control. Their findings suggested that viscous fibers, like psyllium, showed the greatest effect on glycemic control. Psyllium’s viscous gel formation slows digestion, likely slowing sugar absorption. This effect of slowing digestion also leaves you feeling fuller for a longer period of time, seeming to aid in weight loss.

A randomized, placebo-controlled trial published in 2012 evaluated psyllium’s effects on LDL cholesterol in adolescent males with risk factors for heart disease. Psyllium therapy of just 6 g per day was found to significantly lower cholesterol, specifically LDL, by 6%.

    Drug interactions of Benefiber vs.

    Metamucil

There are no known drug interactions with either Benefiber or Metamucil. Bulk-forming fiber like Metamucil may affect how other medications are absorbed. The manufacturer recommends that you take your Metamucil two hours before or two hours after your prescribed medication.

    Warnings of Benefiber and Metamucil

It is important to take Benefiber and Metamucil products with adequate amounts of fluid. Taking fiber therapy without adequate fluid intake can lead to esophageal blockage and choking. Do not take these products if you have difficulty swallowing. If you experience chest pain, vomiting, or difficulty in swallowing or breathing, seek medical attention immediately.

If you experience constipation for more than seven days or if you experience rectal bleeding while taking Benefiber or Metamucil, contact your healthcare provider immediately.

Benefiber and Metamucil powders are gluten-free, though some other products made by these brands may not be. Patients with celiac disease should read the label and consult a healthcare professional to ensure the fiber product they have chosen is safe.

Frequently asked questions about Benefiber vs. Metamucil

    What is Benefiber?

Benefiber is an OTC soluble fiber product indicated for dietary fiber supplementation. Benefiber can be used as a daily fiber supplement and is available in powder form as well as oral and chewable tablets.

    What is Metamucil?

Metamucil is an OTC soluble fiber product indicated for dietary fiber supplementation. It can also be used as a daily fiber supplement and is indicated to treat occasional constipation, as well as to decrease risk factors for coronary artery disease. Metamucil is available in powder form as well as oral capsules.

Are Benefiber and Metamucil the same?

Benefiber and Metamucil are both fiber supplements, but they are not the same. Benefiber contains wheat dextrin and is only approved as a fiber supplement. Metamucil contains psyllium, and in addition to being an approved fiber supplement, is also approved as a bulk-forming laxative. It also binds fatty acids to help lower LDL cholesterol.

    Is Benefiber or Metamucil better?

Metamucil has been shown to be a more effective laxative due to the fact that it is not fermented in the human bowel. This allows it to hold water throughout the intestinal tract and slows digestion. Slower digestion has been shown to help with glycemic control and weight loss as well.

Can I use Benefiber or Metamucil while pregnant?

With adequate fluid intake, both Benefiber and Metamucil are safe to take when pregnant as they are not absorbed into the bloodstream.

Can I use Benefiber or Metamucil with alcohol?

Alcohol use with Benefiber is not contraindicated, though alcohol should always be consumed in a safe manner. When choosing a fluid to mix with your powder fiber supplement, alcohol is not recommended.

    Which fiber supplement is best?

Metamucil has been shown to have more health benefits overall versus Benefiber. In addition to being a fiber supplement, Metamucil is a proven bulk-forming laxative. It also has been shown to reduce heart disease by reducing LDL cholesterol. Its effect on slowing digestion time helps maintain glycemic control and may aid in weight loss.

What are the side effects of taking Benefiber?

Benefiber may increase flatulence or gas build up in the intestinal tract. It may also increase the incidence of abdominal cramps or discomfort and bloating.

Is it safe to take Metamucil every day?

It is safe to Metamucil for gut health every day as long as you consume adequate fluid. Stop taking Metamucil and call your doctor if you experience constipation for more than seven days or have rectal bleeding.

Should you take fiber before or after a meal?

You can take your fiber before, during, or after meals. When taking fiber as an adjunctive therapy for diabetes, one study suggests taking just before starting your meal to help slow digestion and decrease appetite.

There are some days when my stomach doesn’t feel great and that can sometimes turn into irritability (not my proudest moments). I originally started the Metamucil 2-Week Challenge as a way to help with my digestive health, and it’s been great for that. I have started to feel lighter, less weighed down, and it has helped my digestive wellness*.

Then my digestive health really started helping me feel less sluggish and ready to take on the day. Aside from better overall digestive health, I noticed that on the days I took Metamucil, I was satiated until lunch*.

Take the Metamucil 2-Week Challenge for yourself and find out what I mean. Plus it tastes great and mixes well. What more could I want?

As I continue my journey to become a super dad, my overall health and wellness is incredibly important. Sure you can look like a super dad in the mirror, but it’s even more important to feel like a super dad on the inside.

One area of health that I’m continuously learning more about is the power of the gut. By improving your digestive health, you’re efficiently helping the body remove the waste inside the stomach that doesn’t digest or assimilate. Trust me, when my body gets backed up I have a hard time looking, feeling, and performing my best.

Even though healthy eating is a priority, it isn’t always enough. In addition to eating healthy sources of fiber from vegetables, fruit, and nuts, I’ve also closed the “fiber gap” by taking the Metamucil 2-Week Challenge. The Metamucil 2-Week Challenge is designed to introduce the benefits of psyllium super fiber to people like me who thought fiber supplements were for grandmas. This challenge really showed me what psyllium super fiber can do when you use it daily. I am more regular and feel lighter as a result*.

I take 1-2 teaspoons of Metamucil in an 8 oz. glass of water with my first meal of the day. In addition to helping with my digestive health, it also helps me feel satisfied until my next meal*. This means no more mid-morning cravings and binging on unhealthy snacks between meals. I also take another teaspoon of Metamucil in water later in the day if I have a sweet craving.

Metamucil traps and removes the waste that weighs you down, so you start to feel lighter in two weeks*. What was a little surprising was that I felt less sluggish after drinking Metamucil. When you do your body right, it does right by you!

I’m in my 20’s – like most people my age, getting “more fiber” in my diet hasn’t really been a concern. Then again, prior to this Metamucil 2-Week Challenge – I didn’t really know what “dietary fiber” REALLY was, and what “regularity” meant, or that not all fiber is the same. I learned that fiber helps move waste through the body. This increased movement promoted regularity and better digestive health*.

When I took the Metamucil 2-Week Challenge I was surprised at the benefits of Metamucil’s psyllium fiber. To put it plainly, when I’m taking it I feel lighter, more regular*, and even recharged. Less weighing me down, right?

It was pretty easy, too – all I did was mix Metamucil in a glass of water and drink it before breakfast. Later in the challenge I started working it in before lunch, too. At both times, I started with one teaspoon then upped it to two. It was just like adding another beverage to my routine, and it tasted pretty good too (yes, really).

I probably never would’ve thought to take a fiber supplement if it weren’t for this challenge, but I’m definitely glad I did. I think you should try it too – and let me know how it goes!

Fiber supplements: Safe to take every day?

I find it difficult to eat enough fruits and vegetables. Is there any harm in taking a fiber supplement every day?

Answer From Michael F. Picco, M.D.

There’s no evidence that daily use of fiber supplements — such as psyllium (Metamucil, Konsyl, others) or methylcellulose (Citrucel) — is harmful.

Fiber has a number of health benefits, including normalizing bowel function and preventing constipation. It’s best to get fiber from food, because supplements don’t provide the vitamins, minerals and other nutrients that fiber-rich foods do. But fiber supplements can contribute to the recommended daily intake.

Fiber supplements can cause abdominal bloating and gas, at least initially. If you have intestinal problems, such as a history of a bowel blockage or Crohn’s disease, talk to your doctor before adding a fiber supplement to your diet. It’s also a good idea to ask your doctor or pharmacist whether fiber supplements interact with any medications you take.

Fiber supplements can decrease the absorption of certain medications, such as aspirin, carbamazepine (Carbatrol, Epitol, others) and others. Fiber supplements can also reduce blood sugar levels, which may require an adjustment in your medications or insulin if you have diabetes.

If you plan to take fiber supplements, start with small amounts to minimize problems with gas. Also be sure to drink plenty of fluids every day.

Metamucil (Psyllium Fiber) – Dr. Adam Stewart

Metamucil is a natural fiber that can cure many bowel problems, including both constipation and diarrhea! It also has other health benefits such as lowering cholesterol and risk of colon cancer.

    WHAT IS METAMUCIL?

Metamucil contains a special type of fiber called “psyllium”. Metamucil is the brand name of the product. You may also find generic brands of psyllium that are less expensive, but you may find that the brand name Metamucil works better for you.

Psyllium is a source of both soluble and insoluble fibre. Soluble fibre helps to soften stools. It will either form a gel-like material when added to water (such as psyllium fibre found Metamucil) or it will dissolve completely in water. Insoluble fibre does not dissolve in water. It moves through your digestive system largely intact so it helps to bulk up stools. Both kinds are important.

    HOW DOES IT WORK?

The fiber works as a sponge. It absorbs the extra water and adds bulk to the stool. Think of your bowel as a tube of toothpaste: When there is not much toothpaste left in the tube, it is hard to squeeze out the toothpaste. However, when there is a lot of bulk and the tube is full, it is very easy to squeeze out the toothpaste.

If your stool is too hard, that same sponge-like fiber absorbs water up into the stool and softens it.

For these reasons, Metacucil can cure both constipation and diarrhea. It is like a miracle cure for all!

    DON’T FORGET TO ADD WATER!

When taking Metamucil, you will need to remember to drink more fluids during the day as well. If you add too much fiber and bulk without adding enough water, this can make constipation worse.

Men may need to take in 10 cups of fluid per day. Woman may need to aim for 8 cups. (1 cup = 250ml)

    HOW DO YOU TAKE METAMUCIL?

The most common form of Metamucil comes in a powder. You mix it in water and drink it. Metamucil also comes in a pill (capsule) form. The powder form is less expensive. For some people, the pill form is more convenient, but be prepared to be taking at least 6 to 12 (or more!) of the pills per day.

There is no “correct” dose of Metamucil to take. Everyone may need a different amount per day for desired effect. The trick is to start with a low dose, like 1 scoop per day (or 6 pills per day). Try this for 3 or 4 days in a row and see how things go. After 3 or 4 days at the low dose, if you are not having success with your bowel movements, then try increasing the dose a little higher, like to 1 scoop TWICE per day (or 6 pills TWICE per day). Then see how things go after 3 or 4 days more on that dose. You may have to adjust your dose further from there.

Again, everyone’s body is different and everyone will need a different amount for desired effect. Just keep adjusting your dose a little up (or down) every 3 to 4 days until you find the right amount that works for you.

    WHAT NOT TO BUY!

Metamucil now comes in a different version that contains a fiber called INULIN, instead of psyillium. DO NOT BUY THE INULIN KIND.
It causes people to have lots of gas and cramping.

Metamucil – Uses, Side Effects, Interactions

How does this medication work? What will it do for me?

Psyllium fibre belongs to two groups of medications: bulk-forming laxatives and cholesterol-lowering medications. It is used to treat constipation, as well as mild to moderately high cholesterol (when taken with a low-fat diet). It can also be used as a fibre supplement.

For the treatment of constipation, psyllium fibre works by absorbing water from the intestines to produce larger, softer stools. It usually works within 12 hours to 72 hours.

For the treatment of mild to moderately high cholesterol, it works by increasing bile acid loss from the body by trapping bile acids in the small intestine. This causes more bile to be produced. Since cholesterol is used in the production of bile acids, cholesterol levels in the blood are reduced when more bile acid is made.

Your doctor may have suggested this medication for conditions other than those listed in these drug information articles. If you have not discussed this with your doctor or are not sure why you are taking this medication, speak to your doctor. Do not stop taking this medication without consulting your doctor.

Do not give this medication to anyone else, even if they have the same symptoms as you do. It can be harmful for people to take this medication if their doctor has not prescribed it or if their pharmacist has not recommended it.

How should I use this medication?

Powder: To increase fibre intake or treat constipation, the usual recommended dose for adults is one rounded teaspoon (or one rounded tablespoon for Smooth Texture, orange-flavoured) or one packet up to 3 times a day. For children 6 years of age and older, the usual dose is ½ teaspoon (of ½ tablespoon for Smooth Texture, orange-flavoured) or ½ packet 1 to 3 times a day.

For lowering cholesterol, the total daily recommended dose is 10.2 g divided in 2 or 3 equal doses. The number of teaspoons per dose can range from 3 to 6, depending on the specific product you are using and how many times a day you are taking it. Follow the directions by your doctor, pharmacist, or the product information. For best results in lowering cholesterol, take this medication with a meal.

To take this medication, dissolve the powder in 240 mL of cool liquid (water, fruit juice, lemonade, iced tea), stir it briskly, and drink right away.

Capsules: To increase fibre intake or to treat constipation, the usual recommended dose is 5 capsules up to 3 times a day. Take the capsules with at least 240 mL of cool liquid. Swallow the capsules one at a time.

Since this medication can affect how other medications are absorbed from the stomach, do not take it 2 hours before or after taking other medications.

People who experience bloating when they start this medication should reduce the amount they are taking and gradually increase their dose to what is recommended. If you are not sure how to do this, contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Many things can affect the dose of a medication that a person needs, such as body weight, other medical conditions, and other medications. If your doctor has recommended a dose different from the ones listed here, do not change the way that you are taking the medication without consulting your doctor.

It is important to take this medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor or recommended by your pharmacist. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible and continue with your regular schedule. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you are not sure what to do after missing a dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Store this medication at room temperature, keep the lid tightly closed (for powder) to protect from moisture, and keep it out of the reach of children.

Do not dispose of medications in wastewater (e.g. down the sink or in the toilet) or in household garbage. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medications that are no longer needed or have expired.

Who should NOT take this medication?

Do not take this medication if you:

    • are allergic to psyllium fibre or any ingredients of this medication
    • have a blocked intestine
    • have difficulty swallowing
    • have fecal impaction (a large, hard stool that cannot be passed)
    • have nausea, vomiting, fever, or abdominal pain
    • have undiagnosed bleeding from the rectum

What side effects are possible with this medication?

Many medications can cause side effects. A side effect is an unwanted response to a medication when it is taken in normal doses. Side effects can be mild or severe, temporary or permanent.

The side effects listed below are not experienced by everyone who takes this medication. If you are concerned about side effects, discuss the risks and benefits of this medication with your doctor.

The following side effects have been reported by at least 1% of people taking this medication. Many of these side effects can be managed, and some may go away on their own over time.

Contact your doctor if you experience these side effects and they are severe or bothersome. Your pharmacist may be able to advise you on managing side effects.

    • bloating
    • gas
    • heartburn
    • nausea
    • vomiting

Although most of the side effects listed below don’t happen very often, they could lead to serious problems if you do not seek medical attention.

Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur:

    • bleeding from rectum
    • diarrhea
    • sudden severe abdominal pain
    • worsening or continued constipation

Stop taking the medication and seek immediate medical attention if any of the following occur:

    • difficulty swallowing
    • symptoms of a severe allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, hives, or swelling of the face or throat

Some people may experience side effects other than those listed. Check with your doctor if you notice any symptom that worries you while you are taking this medication.

Are there any other precautions or warnings for this medication?

Before you begin using a medication, be sure to inform your doctor of any medical conditions or allergies you may have, any medications you are taking, whether you are pregnant or breast-feeding, and any other significant facts about your health. These factors may affect how you should use this medication.

Aspartame: Some forms of this medication contain aspartame and should not be taken by people who have phenylketonuria (PKU).

Difficulty swallowing: If you have difficulty swallowing or if there is a narrowing of your esophagus, do not take this medication. If you experience chest pain, vomiting, difficulty swallowing, or difficulty breathing after taking this medication, get immediate medical attention.

Fluids: It is important to take this medication with plenty of fluids (240 mL per dose). Not doing this can cause the medication to swell and block the throat or esophagus (the tube that connects the stomach to the mouth), causing choking.

Sudden change in bowel movements: If you are experiencing a sudden change in your bowel movements that has lasted more than 2 weeks, contact your doctor before using this medication. Your doctor will want to make sure that another medical condition is not causing your constipation.

Pregnancy: This medication is considered safe to use during pregnancy.

Breast-feeding: It is not known if psyllium fibre passes into breast milk. However, this medication is considered safe to use for women who are breast-feeding.

Children: The safety and effectiveness of using this medication to lower cholesterol have not been established for children less than 6 years of age. Children 6 to 11 years of age should use the powder form of this medication.

What other drugs could interact with this medication?

Psyllium fibre may interact with many medications by reducing the amount of other medications that is absorbed. Therefore it is recommended that other medications not be taken 2 hours before or after taking this medication.

Tell your doctor or prescriber about all prescription, over-the-counter (non-prescription), and herbal medications that you are taking. Also tell them about any supplements you take. Since caffeine, alcohol, the nicotine from cigarettes, or street drugs can affect the action of many medications, you should let your prescriber know if you use them. Depending on your specific circumstances, your doctor may want you to:

    • stop taking one of the medications,
    • change one of the medications to another,
    • change how you are taking one or both of the medications, or
    • leave everything as is.

An interaction between two medications does not always mean that you must stop taking one of them. Speak to your doctor about how any drug interactions are being managed or should be managed.

Can You Eat Too Much Metamucil?

Too much metamucil can have negative side effects.

Metamucil is a brand name for a psyllium fiber supplement. Like other psyllium fiber supplements, Metamucil has some health benefits. However, taking too much Metamucil could cause negative side effects.

    Tip

Adding Metamucil to your diet is a good way to meet your fiber goals. It’s important to use it correctly, though, because you can have some side effects from taking too much Metamucil.

Psyllium is a water-soluble fiber mainly used as a bulk laxative to relieve occasional constipation or irregularity. It works by absorbing liquid in the intestines, which softens and adds bulk to stools. Psyllium fiber supplements are also effective at relieving mild-to-moderate diarrhea.

Other potential Metamucil benefits include a reduction in cholesterol (especially when combined with a cholesterol-lowering diet), improved blood sugar, and possibly even weight loss because it helps to keep you full for longer. Any gel-forming fiber that’s psyllium based should provide these same health benefits.

A review on the benefits of fiber therapy published in the April 2017 issue of the Journal of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners found that those who take a psyllium fiber supplement for six months saw sustained weight loss, as well as lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

    Side Effects of Psyllium FIber

Some people experience gas, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea or constipation when taking psyllium fiber supplements, according to MedlinePlus. The supplement also may cause headaches, coughing, runny nose, and sinus problems. To prevent side effects, start with a low dose and gradually increase it if necessary. It’s also important when taking any fiber supplement, to increase your fluids, and drink plenty of water each day.

While it’s unlikely that you would overdose on Metamucil, you should follow the recommended dosages for the various Metamucil products, which are listed on the product label and on the product website. Taking too much Metamucil can cause Metamucil overdose symptoms which can include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or other symptoms of an overly high fiber diet. In addition, some Metamucil products contain potassium, which should not be taken in high doses. Keep the product out of the reach of children.

According to the MedlinePlus, Metamucil, or any psyllium fiber product should be safe for most people to take, as long as you follow the recommended dose on the label. In addition to potential GI symptoms if you take large amounts, you may also run the risk of interaction with some medications or iron supplements.

If you take Tegretol or lithium, as well as medications for diabetes, high blood pressure, blood thinners, ask your doctor about any potential interaction with Metamucil.

Because of Metamucil’s health benefits, it can be taken every day as part of a healthy diet that includes other sources of fiber. The recommendation for fiber is about 25 grams per day for women and about 38 grams per day for men. Most people don’t eat enough, so adding a fiber supplement can help to fill in this fiber gap.

A March 2015 article in Nutrition Today describes the benefits of meeting that daily fiber goal, but the author also cautions that it’s important to obtain a variety of types of fiber, most of which should come from food.

Take Metamucil with at least 8 ounces of water or another liquid. If the powder is too thick and causes difficulty swallowing, add extra liquid to thin the mixture. Do not take more than recommended on the label or prescribed by your doctor. Psyllium can inhibit the absorption of some medications, so take medication at least two hours before or after taking Metamucil.

90,000 Natural Remedies for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

I don’t often recommend natural remedies because there is rarely any scientific evidence that they work better than placebos. But when there is data to support their use, I am everything for him. This case is currently in

    scopolamine

(Also called hyoscine), a natural product derived from certain plants, is also effective – but because it can be quite dangerous if used improperly, it is only available by prescription in the US.

As many as 20 percent of Americans have IBS, making it one of the most common disorders seen by doctors. Its symptoms include cramped

    abdominal pain

    gas and

    bloating

    and diarrhea or

    constipation

(or both, sometimes they alternate). One of the most important facts about IBS is that it is the so-called

    functional

disorder, which means it does not have an underlying structural cause. This distinguishes it from the other two chronic digestive diseases caused by inflammation,

    Crohn’s disease

    and

    ulcerative colitis

Each of which is referred to as inflammatory bowel disease or IBD. Due to the similarity of words

There are two things to know about fiber in

    IBS treatment.

Disclaimer One is that it is probably best for people who have predominantly constipated IBS, and the other is that the type of fiber chosen is important. In this regard,

    soluble fiber

    It’s better than

    insoluble fiber

Disclaimer Foods containing insoluble fiber include wheat bran, corn bran, plums, and prunes. Foods containing soluble fiber include oats, legumes (peas, beans, lentils), fruits, and

    berries

Disclaimer Another source of soluble fiber is dietary supplements containing

    Psyllium.

    , such as

    Metamucil

Withdrawal Fiber should be increased gradually because it can aggravate symptoms. Only trial and error will allow you to determine if it works in your situation. If using a psyllium supplement, start with one half to one tablespoon daily (Metamucil contains 3 grams of fiber per tablespoon). Most of the positive studies were used from 10 to 30

    grams of fiber per day

    Refusal

Research review found that the best

    IBS treatment.

it is peppermint oil that acts as an antispasmodic in the intestinal tract. Although Peppepermint tea is widely used to help relieve digestive troubles, if you are IBS it is probably best to take a standardized dosage on an agreed basis. For this you will probably want capsules, and the best of them is the intestinal coating, which means that they have a special coating that prevents breakdown in the stomach, which can cause heartburn, and allows passage through the intestines for proper absorption. Disclaimer Dose can be a little confusing. Some capsules are described by volume (ML) and some by weight (mg). When describing the volume, the amount per capsule is 0.2 – 0.4 ml and you must take one capsule three times a day. When weight is described, the amount per capsule is about 200 mg, again taken three times a day.

As with all chronic medical conditions, I recommend that you see your doctor for full diagnostic work to make sure you actually have IBS and rule out other more serious conditions.Your doctor can also give you other important information, such as dietary advice, and can help you determine if or when prescription medications might be okay. Not too long ago, Healthtalk had a webcast on misdiagnosis avoidance in IBS and IBD, which you may find interesting. Our chronic pain blogger wrote about IBS. And our

90,000 How to prepare for anal sex

Anal sex is still considered taboo in our society, because people see something unnatural in the process. But in fact, this is a normal phenomenon, a way to diversify sex life – for both heterosexual couples and queer people. Within the second group, there are two camps – “tops” and “bottom”. The latter love to play a passive role, because anal sex brings them physical pleasure. In addition, this is how they make their intimate fantasies come true. There are men and women who do not want to become liabilities because they are afraid of pain. But if a person is really ready to play the role of “bottom”, then he will get pleasure from intimacy: the main thing is to properly prepare for the process.

As with any other type of sex, there are some problems that a partner may have in a passive position. Any intimate contact should start with a discussion. Being a passive isn’t that hard, but there are ways you can help make sex safer.Intimacy is not work, but rather fun. The process should be enjoyable for both partners.

For those guys and girls who are ready to try themselves in a passive role, we have prepared some tips: with our help, you will definitely stop being afraid of anal sex and, maybe, love it even more than any other contact.

Where to start preparing for the passive role?

Sex is an unpredictable thing: intimacy can happen anywhere. But if you know in advance that today you have a meeting with your partner, then spend your free time preparing.

If you have already played a passive role, then you know exactly what you like. Be sure to tell your partner about this, discuss with him your sexual preferences and desires. Make sure he doesn’t overstep your boundaries and will stop when you say.

Talking about preferences will make sex more enjoyable, and talking about intimate fantasies will arouse you more.Don’t be afraid to describe these desires in detail: try different positions, toys, vibrators.

You should also think about intimate hygiene so that there are no surprises during sex. Most rinse with a shower hose (just unscrew the nozzle and direct the jet in the same direction) or an enema (it cleans better).

Do not rinse very often – once a week is sufficient. Water can irritate internal tissues, which leads to even more discomfort during intimacy.

Before taking care of the body, get tested for HIV. You can do it both in the clinic and at home: there have been express tests on sale for a long time, which show the result within a few minutes. Warn your partner about your status right away and ask him for the same. Discuss condom use and the use of PrEP drugs that prevent HIV infection. In principle, condoms are always preferable – barrier contraception also protects against other STDs.

What can you eat before sex?

A good diet will help reduce the number of flushes. Your best friends before anal sex are fiber-rich foods: raw vegetables, fruits, whole grains. Avoid fatty foods, red meat, dairy products – these can cause digestive problems. Give up alcohol, so as not to dehydrate the body, and sweets.

Raw nuts, popcorn and water are best for snack liabilities. Also note the brown rice. But avoid legumes: they can cause bloating.

If your diet is low in fiber, which strengthens the stool, then take special nutritional supplements. The most popular of these are Metamucil and Pure For Men. With them, you definitely can not be afraid that during sex there will be problems with digestion.

But most importantly, watch out for what is causing your bowel problems. Even after perfect preparation during sex, the body can malfunction. This is completely normal.Try not to worry too much: just relax and enjoy the process.

    Which lubricant works best?

What you definitely can’t do without is condoms and lubricant. You will also need a towel. We advise you to buy several types of lubricants in order to understand which one you are most comfortable with. If you plan on using sex toys, we recommend using a water-based lubricant. Silicone cannot be applied to vibrators, and lubricant with oils in the composition is not suitable for sex with a condom.

Pay attention to the consistency of the grease. Some prefer more liquid products, others prefer thick gel-like products. Try in practice which product suits you best. Only then you should think about additional ingredients in the composition that will soften your skin, among them – jojoba and aloe.

Some lubricants have analgesic properties, but we do not recommend using them, as you must feel everything and control the situation. Pain is a signal that something is going wrong, and you must understand it in a timely manner. Moreover, after the effect of the anesthetic wears off, you will feel even more discomfort than before applying the lubricant.

You can also resort to using a special device that injects the product so that the entire area is perfectly lubricated. This will reduce the risk of possible injury to internal tissues.

How to practice anal sex without a partner?

It is not enough to simply prepare the body for a passive role. It’s important to practice constantly. The more you exercise on your own, the easier it will be for you to have sex.

It will take some lubrication and half an hour of free time. You can use sex toys or masturbate with your fingers. There are two sphincters in the body: the external, which can be controlled, and the internal, which cannot be controlled. They both need to be relaxed before you get down to business.

Please do not try to masturbate with objects at hand, as they may cause irritation or injury.Choose vibrators that are adjustable in size.

Apply a small amount of lubricant: the silicone-based lubricant lasts the longest. But remember that this cannot be used with toys. First, relax and start massaging your external sphincter. The fabrics need to be warmed up well to be ready for penetration.

Gradually insert the sex toy or fingers: look for the depth with which you are comfortable. If you understand this, then it will be easier for you to explain to your partner what he should do during intimacy.

What is the most comfortable position?

This question is purely personal: it all depends on your physique, inner comfort, physical fitness, sexual preferences. Still, there are several positions that will give you and your partner the most comfort. In addition, changing positions frequently will make you more experienced and sex more varied.

One of the most comfortable positions is “cowboy”: your partner lies on his back, and you sit down facing him on top. This allows passives to control the depth and rate of penetration. There is also a “reverse cowboy pose” in which you turn your back to your partner.

The classic version is missionary. It is suitable for those who are confident in their flexibility. The liability lies on its back with its legs raised, and the asset penetrates it from above. For this pose, you will need a pillow to place it under your lower back and get into the most comfortable position.

Another common position: the passive gets on all fours, the asset enters from behind. This is a comfortable option for beginners.Only one drawback: during sex it will be difficult to look your partner in the eye.

Spooning is when you and your partner are both lying on your side. In this position, it is convenient to control the depth and speed of penetration, but there is no eye contact. There is also a similar position – “bodyguard”. In this case, you and your partner do not lie, but stand.

There are actually many poses, and we have only listed the most common ones. We advise you to try several to find the one that will be comfortable for you and your partner.

    How to reduce pain?

Slight discomfort is normal. Some people even like the feeling of pain. But be sure to listen to your feelings.

To reduce pain, use a lot of lubricant, ask your partner to act gently and say whether you are comfortable or not. The muscles of the anus should gradually stretch: when they get used to it, the discomfort will almost completely disappear. If you feel pain, then immediately inform your partner about it.Don’t be afraid to say no and ask to stop.

The size of your partner’s penis may be causing the pain. In this case, you need to spend more time preparing and better stretch the muscles. You can start with finger masturbation and then move on to sex toys.

If you notice a small amount of blood, do not panic: after a couple of days, the injury should heal (during this time, you should refrain from contact). But if the bleeding and pain persist, be sure to see your doctor.

It is best not to think about injuries at all. It is enough to just stretch the muscles well and relax the sphincter to get pleasure and reduce pain. And remember that good sex depends on your dialogue with your partner.

Metamucil is a great way to get added fiber. Orange sugar is a smooth version of the texture, less gritty than the original texture. The orange flavor is pleasant and goes down easily. As far as I understand, keep yourself regularly regular and it works the way it should. And it has the added benefit of being good for my cholesterol. Note: Different formulations of Metamucil powder have different mixing instructions. Some doses are measured in teaspoons and some in tablespoons. This medication is a full teaspoon. Check the label carefully. A Few Things to Remember * A good rule of thumb is not to take fiber at the same time as other medications, as they can bind to fiber rather than be absorbed. Take other medicines for at least 2 hours besides Metamucil. * Mix with a nice tall glass of water. You may want to drink more water afterwards to flush it out. If you fail to heed the water warning, you risk choking or getting completely plugged up – the exact opposite of what you are trying to experienced.* Don’t expect immediate relief. Use it every day for several days. * The gas problem will eventually go away. Start low and increase your fiber intake slowly to help with this problem. * Wash the glass immediately, otherwise it will stick to its glass and be difficult to remove. * Fill a glass with water and then add Metamucil. If you do it the other way around, you may have a large lump at the bottom of your glass that won’t dissolve. Who Shouldn’t Get Metamucil? * Someone who cannot drink the required amount of water.* Anyone who has trouble swallowing. * Anyone who has a bowel obstruction. This may seem strange at first glance, since Metamucil is labeled as a laxative, but it can also be used for chronic diarrhea. It works by absorbing water and thus adding bulk to the stool. Bulky stools move faster down the intestines. Because Metamucil absorbs water, it doesn’t cause diarrhea, but I can help it. As always, if the change in bowel movement is recent and does not improve, the doctor should be contacted.I’m not going to write a long review about why a person should add extra fiber to their diet. This would be a health problem and a doctor or nutritionist is probably the best source of information like that. What I know is fiber is a part of my life and I love it much more now that I have discovered this lemon-scented blend. The taste is tart, sweet and much more intense than the original Metamucil orange. I actually keep both in my pantry. There is no difference in its effectiveness, but it is definitely a good change in pace (taste) for what becomes a common daily thing. It is sugar so its not heavy and thus does not add extra calories. I have noticed that pink lemonade is not always available in stores or on Amazon.com so I stock up when I see it. However, there is currently Amazon Subscribe & Save which offers free shipping and a 15% discount, so it’s really good quality.Great taste. Helps lower cholesterol levels. Serves to suppress appetite. Stabilizes the water level in body fluids. Helps stabilize blood sugar levels when taken with meals. Reduces the risk of colon problems (cancer, etc.) Contrary to urban legend, it is not laxitive – but it regulates intestinal motor activity. If everyone used it, the US would have a significantly lower health burden. We highly recommend it!

This is by far the best tasting and effective product I have tried.I have tried caplet Metamucil and other flavors. I have a very hard time, wanting to drink other flavors or have to take with my fist a full amount of pills equal to the amount I want to take (3 tsp per day). Tastes like fruit punch and is very smooth if enough water is used and not left to sit. For a solution, the review about becomes thick. This fiber will swell / unfold the longer it will take to absorb. That is one of the reasons it fills you up and helps limit your appetite. If left on for a few minutes, it will become like liquid jelly. Fix it to mix and drink, and don’t let it set. When mixed properly, it tastes like smooth fruit punch and I have no problem drinking. I would say, even looking forward to drinking it. This product is hard to find in my area and I will not buy others. Glad I can get it through Amazon.

I use CVS brand’s comparable product orange flavor sugar-free fiber / laxative supplement and it has helped me tremendously with my loose bowel movements. I have increased my fiber intake and I am also drinking lactose-free 2% Valio milk (tastes great) or almond milk (the silk brand tastes better than the long shelf life Almond Sleep). Eating milk and eating ice cream seemed to disrupt my digestive system. The cheese doesn’t seem to bother me. What I found using a comparable product Metamucil is that I feel less anxious and, although I still have a frequency of bowel movements in the morning, they are harder, and as a result, my digestive system seems calm and I feel more energized. Also I have little or no bloat. I wish I could say that I have lost weight, but I have not yet – which will obviously take more work and additional dietary and exercise modifications due to my perimenopausal condition. My goal is to get at least 25 grams of fiber a day. Metamucil does not seem to impair free bowel movements, although it is a laxative – it does seem to help with the formation of hard stools that pass easily.I drink Metamucil before bed and once or twice throughout the day along with other whole grain fibers or legumes and this seems to be a good start towards improving my overall sense of well being. I drink Lifeway simple and aromatic kefir as a great tasting probiotic. (Has 3 grams of inulin fiber) I also eat Mestemacher fried whole grain bread almost every day and sometimes twice a day (also available on Amazon and has 6 grams of whole grain free wheat fiber per portion).Other than that, I haven’t changed my diet at all. I’ve also included Meal Metamucil Plates, but not so recently. If you eat too many of them, you may get tired of the taste and need to take a break, as I do. I recommend that you eat them along with a hot drink such as tea or coffee. (See my plate review – maybe a subscription to order from Amazon for significant savings) Return to this product – if you add a dropping teaspoon onto a relatively small glass with a rounded bottom (thick glass goblet) and then quickly stir and drink it, you should be able to get most of the powder dissolved with little effort. Then I quickly rinse the glass. It’s a simple and quick process, and in no way do you feel like you could choke on the mixture. (One of my fears of psyllium husk fiber) Keep in mind, however, that you may experience some cramps and discomfort early on by incorporating Metamucil and adding fiber to your diet – especially if your diet has been fiber-deprived. And take note – salad and many vegetables don’t have as much fiber as you might think. Start reading labels for fiber content.Cooked oatmeal is also a great addition. I hope this helps those who are looking for ways to feel better and not have their own desire to travel (especially in the morning) and it is anxiety to rule your life. Feel better!

This tip is for the flavor of the berries only. Please do not buy this product. If you ignore me and buy it anyway, I hate to say what I told you, but I told you so. If raspberries can poop, it would try like this. There is nothing pleasant about the taste of this product. The guy who invented the berry flavor and the guy who approved it should really be in a different line of business. I’m going back to orange flavor. I just tasted the berry taste because I was bored of the orange. But orange works and tastes good. This product works, but it tastes bad that you are better, chugging it fast and furious. There is even heavy wheaty after the taste, which is awful. Do not do that. But if you do, I warned you categorically, so my hands are clean.Metamucil is a great way to get added fiber. I recently tasted lemonade and found it smooth and refreshing. As always, if the change in bowel movement is recent and does not improve, the doctor should be contacted.Metamucil’s smooth texture, sugar-free powder does an excellent job of keeping people “ordinary”. The powder comes in a strong canister and as long as you use this one before the expiration date you will get the desired effect of this over-the-counter laxative. It is very easy to use Metamucil. Just take one teaspoon and add that to the drink while stirring it into an 8 ounce drink or maybe a little more. You can do this up to three times a day. It always works well for me, I usually take it with water, but I know people who take it with orange juice and other drinks. The creators of Metamucil point out that fiber can help your heart in the long run – and they are right. This is another huge benefit of using Metamucil. I also really like that this product is sugar-free. Of course I would like to keep this out of the reach of pets and children. You don’t want to swallow this. There’s also one more thing – they say Metamucil has a smooth texture, but sometimes I notice that it can “lump” in the drink I’m thirsty with. I would be careful to move the Metamucil very carefully to avoid “sticking”.Overall, this product does a great job of doing what you want it to do. It is convenient to keep some around the house if you are sometimes constipated.

Metamucil does its job. This keeps me regular. I have been taking 3 teaspoons in water every morning for the past 20 years, and my bowel movements are what nature meant they were. I never have to strain. This product has no taste, so it is easy to drink. I tried the artificially sweetened versions and found that they had a bit too sweet taste and extra color and chemicals.Who needs it.

I love this stuff. I have tried all the flavors and the only one I will buy is sugar free pink lemonade. Personally, I think it tastes great, but I don’t understand people who give 1 star reviews for taste. This is a fiber drink that quickly turns into slush, what do you expect? I take it twice a day and it keeps me going on a regular basis. I have tried all other brands and this seems to work the best. Drink it quick though. Oh, and I didn’t want to drink this and follow this with beer, it’s not the most comfortable feeling.I do it anyway though, what am I supposed to do, stop drinking? It’s best to stick to nitro beers like Guinness or Left Hand Milk Stout. My physician This was recommended after my colonoscopy. Will take some time to be used too. The best ones are taken immediately after a meal. Really does the job.

I love this berry to smooth out the best of all Metamucil products. It is smooth and tastes delicious. They have been in stores from it, so I hope they start getting it again soon.UPDATE: Feb 2013: Just Google search “Metamucil production issues” One of the results was the Metamucil Facebook P&G page. They now admit (after about a year) that they have proposals and production targets. They state that they hope to have it back on sale in the spring. I hope they mean 2013. This is my favorite scent. It has become impossible to find anywhere. I contacted the manufacturer via the Metamucil website. They replied that it was still done, but could not suggest anywhere to buy it.The last one I ordered from another Amazon supplier with “only 5 left”. Two weeks later, the order was canceled as unavailable.

I kill two birds with one stone. Having a nice cold glass of lemonade and getting my fiber. It tastes pretty good, which surprised me.

I have tried all Metamucil products; Berry (tastes horrible), orange (tastes good, but doesn’t always disolve evenly), and plates (Tastes good, but they thicken while in the mouth.) Then there’s Pink Lemonade. Not only does it taste like lemonade, it disolves very quickly, doesn’t thicken, and is actually a fresh thought! Who knew a psyilium product could taste so good! P&G has a winner here!

I am taking laxatives twice a week to help me go to the bathroom, and I have read that twice a week are not normal. So I searched the internet for a better alternative to solve my problem and I read all these great Metamucil reviews. After taking 2 days of Metamucil twice a day, I began to see a pattern. No more laxatives for me … Another benefit is that it makes me feel full throughout the day.

I got a free sample of this from the Procter & Gamble company in the mail. The taste is good and it is a smooth texture believing that it is a psillium fiber supplement which is generally hard, I would recommend this to someone who wants to use psillium fiber but is having a hard time with the typical texture and taste of this product mask grit and the taste associated with this type of fiber.Metamucil works. But I missed something important when I bought it. It contains aspartame. Or you don’t feel Aspartame is safe before you, but I would not want to risk it. A few days later, as I said, I took it to my mother, who has been using it for the past 10 years. She said when she received the colonoscopy that the Doctor noted he saw that she was taking it because her colon was stained. I plan to use an up package, but next time I’ll try something else (like Metamucil’s clear and natural product). The product arrived on time as advertised. Its rating of 4 is based on the fact that the various sugars are (slightly) more expensive than the sugar-containing version, and the texture is slightly less smooth than mine (does not dissolve quite easily as when mixed with water). It is also strange that buying separate packages was cheaper than buying in two packages. Sounds like a little wasteful packaging.

I have used Metamucil for many years – quite satisfactory. I recently bought an “orange smooth” product and it seems to be a completely different product.1 tablespoon in 8 ounces of water (recommended dose) fails to thicken at all even after 5 minutes. Several doses taken also appear to have no effect. Mixed 12:59 by volume in water, do not thicken the product slightly after 3 minutes. Previously, 1 tablespoon in 8 ounces of water had to be drunk quickly or it would become too thick to swallow. Quality control problem? There doesn’t seem to be any way to contact Metamucil or Procter & Gamble directly. I think this is usually a good product. However, as a person with colitis and diverticulitis, its bad! My doctor did recommend a fiber supplement or make sure I have a lot of fiber every day. I chose a fiber supplement because most people, no matter how hard they try, don’t get enough fiber in their day. Metamucil gave me a lot of cramps. The day after I took it, I would go and it would hurt, irritate and the cramps would last about 20 minutes. The rest of the day, I will feel as if someone was using me for a punching bag.I even reduced the dose to any other day … … no change. I have seen a similar review, so I think that fiber supplementation is generally very difficult for people with colitis, IBD and IBS.

This is my husband’s favorite scent from Metamucil. Nowadays it’s getting harder and harder to find, but $ 54.96 for a single 114 dose bottle is insane. I can get electronics for a cheaper one. Good thing he has free Super Saver Shipping.

New Metamucil should have a different composition. After 25 years using Metamucil in my orange juice every morning I find theat you have done something with a formula that makes Metamucil very difficult to disolve.I returned the last bottle for this reason and bought a replacement for Publix. I don’t think it’s better. What have you done to make a super product?

This product is loaded with aspartame and tastes awful. Aspartame is too bad for you to solve one problem and add a new one. It also contains maltodextrin, which is a form of sugar, so not sugar-free. The label says “100% Natural Plantain,” but it is not. The sugar form of Metamucil contains 3/4 teaspoon of sugar per teaspoon of the product….it’s really almost all the sugar. They really make a crisp version that is free of flavor, junk, sugar, and additives, and is the best source of fiber. Suggest those looking for a fiber boost to use this product. Generally, I boycott everything labeled food and predominantly sugar buried in misleading labeling. It seems to work okay, but read other reviewers’ comments about pacing yourself, or you’ll be bloated and uncomfortable.

WOW! I love this stuff, I have been trying to get more regular for a while and I decided to give this a try.And I mean wow, I can’t believe how much I eliminate. After about two weeks of use, I pooped out so I filled the toilet, I mean filled. I had to flush twice. This is just a fantastic product.

It is a natural product that I use every day and love it. This product works and my intestines are kept healthy. For me, I found this product in my local market and supplied. For me, I use this every day in my morning Smoothie and it won’t thicken the smoothie and actually give it more flavor. Here’s my cocktail recipe. – One heaving teaspoon of Metamucil. – One half glass of cold water – One half cup to one cup of orange juice – One banana (sliced) – 2 packs of Splenda (optional) I use them as I like the sweeter taste. Blend all of the above on a high in a blender for the thickest and finest tasting Orange Banana Smoothie you’ve ever tasted. This one I use as a light breakfast and it fills me up! I highly recommend this product!

I have struggled for most of my life with constipation, although I consume it fiber in my diet and drink plenty of water. After hemorrhoid surgery in 1984, my doctor recommended Metamucil for regularity and you don’t have to strain so much in having a bowel movement. Unfortunately, this is probably more information than anyone else wants to know, but as a result, I have taken Metamucil every day since then and have had it much easier. Since I have diabetes, I take the sugar-free version as it has less than half the carbohydrates of the regular version. There are other good reasons for using Metamucil, but for me, the improvement in regularity is why I understand other health benefits as a bonus.Great stuff. If you are constipated, this will make you go. If you have diarrhea, it will harden the material. Nice and comfortable. Make interesting BMs seekers if you do too much. Be sure to take with plenty of water.

I’m not sure what happened with any Metamucil product, but have never been able to find it in any of my stores. Saw it and ordered it immediately. I really like the large size (for daily use I put some in a smaller container for easy use) because I don’t have to worry about replacing it right away (it’s still not in my stores!).The drug is effective and tastes great. Didn’t give 5 stars because the price was high. I hope this has not ended. Not much to say about a product that provides fiber to your diet, other than it works and tastes similar to the TAN orange drink.Just take into account that if you don’t drink it quite quickly (in one minute or less) it will start to expand jelly substance in your glass thats like drinking grainy yogurt.

This product works great for me and I love the taste. The problem is, you cannot find it anywhere on the shelf.

2nd purchase of Metamucil Sugar Orange product. My doctor recommended it earlier and I have had successful results. Taking daily with a juice / water combination is a very simple way to ensure that there is enough fiber in the system for a comfortable and easy bath. The more liquid you have, the less likely you are to be too fat to swallow. I would be the first person to dump him if that were the case…. it is not and I actually enjoy my combo in 8+ fluid ounces. We highly recommend Metamucil to anyone who needs that extra fiber.

October 9, 2012: Not sure if what is happening now with Metamucil’s supply of sugar-free fiber to the pink taste of lemonade, but this is definitely not the case. My review below is based on smooth texture orange and pink lemonade in 114 dose canisters. (Metamucil Sugar) I was told by my doctor who performed my fistula surgery that I need to eat more fiber and drink a fiber laxative like Metamucil at least once, if not twice a day if I don’t want another fistula to occur.I eat greens every day and she still insisted on this shelf. So I have been buying sugar-free Metamucil in a mild orange flavor for a while now. It costs about $ 13 retail here in the UK. I have purchased this from Amazon as part of a subscription program and keep since 2011. Since then, the total cost for the orange flavor has ranged from $ 9.89 to $ 12.37. That’s right: it was cheaper for me to order from Amazon and ship it at my door than buying it from any of my local pharmacy or grocery store and even Wal-Mart.Except that I saved time and gas, so I was happy and contented and so were my insides. However, a few months ago, Amazon let me know my SUB and SAV was canceled due to some reason like pricing or something that I had no other choice with. So I decided to see if pink lemonade flavor was available on SUB and SAV but it wasn’t, but it sold for $ 19 on Amazon. Orange smooth was also available for a little less. I went to Wal-Mart the same day and there were no orange smooth flavors, just one sugar canister of pink lemonade for less than $ 13.I shrugged and thought I’d give it a try. The first time I tried it, I thought the aroma was ok, but by the 2nd day, I realized that I preferred the pink lemonade aroma more than the orange one. It’s really like drinking a glass of pink lemonade. I came back last week to get another one and the entire shelf space for the sugar free Metamucil (like orange and pink lemonade) was EMPTY !. I went to another Wal-Mart nearby and this store didn’t even carry the scent of pink lemonade.I went online and made walmart.com do a footwork to find me pink lemonade in any of the 7 or so nearby Walmart neighborhoods and they were all in stock! So I’m here on Amazon and lo and behold, a 114-dose of sugar pink Metamucil lemonade that used to cost $ 19 on Amazon a few months ago is now available for almost $ 40. its for $ 40 here. How funny. I can wait until the price is back in the $ 13 range. Not sure what is going on to cause this.I read a thing or two on the internet about Benefiber coming to mind. I wonder if this is what is causing all of this supply and demand crisis.

UPDATE 11/9/12 What a rip-off! $ 42.99 for 114 doses? This is supposed to be ~ $ 12! What the hell happened to them? Fix the price. I am buying somewhere else. —– Pink lemonade = 5 stars (definitely buy!) Berry = 4.5 stars Orange = 2 stars (not recommended) 1 serving (1 tablespoon): 20cal, 3g fiber, 2g net carbs, 0g sugar – mixed with 8-12oz from ice water.I drink 7-10 servings a day. So: 7 servings = 140cal, 21g fiber (84% RDI)), 14g carbs, 0g sugar, 84oz water (2.5liters). So, it’s also good for those who hate drinking water or don’t drink enough water, because it makes the water super tasty and delicious. I always ice my water first. Note: I am currently on a fat-rich diet (low-carb diet) so I drink less of this now. -It tastes best with ice cold water (no ice). The pink lemonade is super tasty and the aroma is super strong. The flavor of the berries is strong and tastes great too. However, orange flavor = awful; doesn’t taste like orange at all. I really love orange and I was so excited to taste the orange flavor, so excited that I ordered their maximum size, but I was deeply and mercilessly disappointed. Avoid getting this scent and go for pink lemonade and berries instead. Yesterday I went to the pharmacy and found the orange flavor fiber therapy from another company called Preferred Plus Pharmacy (not on Amazon), has everything the same (20cal, 3g fiber, 2g carbohydrates, 0 sugar) and the best part is the flavor “better” …Neither delivers a full flavor, but of course this other provides a “better” flavor, and I recommend it to any orange lover out there! I paid 5.99 for a 10 ounce bottle. Overall, very happy with the pink scent of lemonade, very happy with the berry flavor, and sorely disappointed with the orange tinge.

I use this on a daily basis. The best scent I have found and I cannot find it in local stores. I was very happy to find this (and other products) on Amazon.

I have used Metamucil for years and was pleasantly surprised when the Berry and Pink Lemonade flavors came out. Both new flavors are wonderful, although I prefer pink lemonade. Berry is good, but it seems to leave a little aftertaste that goes away quickly. I think the Orange flavor is still the best. All three fragrances are effective.

It was a staple in my grandmother’s kitchen for as long as I can remember, but I didn’t start using it until recently. Tastes like pouring down Tang, not wonderful, but not terrible. I prefer to drink it through a straw, for some reason, it’s just easier for me.Keeps the mail moving smoothly and easily and doesn’t give me stomach pain and cramps like Benefiber did. I have read all the other reviews and will be looking for a pink lemonade flavor nearby, everyone seems to like it a lot.

I am 27 weeks pregnant and had problems with constipation. I started taking this twice a day and it was better within 24 hours. It is amazing.

I gave it 2 stars because it does the job – keeping you regular. However, I had to take 3 stars because of the taste. It tastes too artificial (I don’t like berries) and has this overly sweet sugary aftertaste that is very off-putting to say the least. It’s gotten to the point where I can’t bring myself to drink it anymore. I have tried generic brands and they don’t mix as well as Metamucil. I take three doses a day and really think it has helped me a lot. Now this is going to sound real weird, but it’s really mixed well in the margarita as well. It almost got it so I prefer the margarita with it than without it, but you just can’t order that in the restaurant :-).

I mostly use Metamucil to get extra fiber. The orange flavor is excellent. If I drink this at night, I have a perfect bowel movement in the morning. If you have problems with constipation, I urge you to give this a try, because after you drink Metamucil, it just comes out right (perfect texture and that’s it, lol)!

this stuff is like the best food then for me. I have a gross digestive system and I am plaqued with hemmoroids and this stuff keeps me from moving like clockwork. With easy evacuation which means less paper and less irratation.I went about 2 weeeks with outside of it and thought I was gon ‘die.

The product was good. the same price at your local store. will probably buy locally after this. I hate being told how many words should I use to rate a product!

Bad pun, but I couldn’t help myself. I remember when Tang was first introduced as a “space drink” and a substitute for orange juice. I forgot about it until I tried this product. When mixed correctly, it tastes very similar to Tang. And it’s not that bad. After three abdominal surgeries as a result of a ruptured intestine, I developed significant adhesions that left my intestines in a stalemate. Unfortunately, surgery to remove adhesions can leave you with an even worse outcome. Most days are beautiful, but painful days are memorable. Being stabbed in the stomach by the very sharp Switchblade is a comparable feeling. Since the combination of Metamucil with my protein shake in the morning I have both improved the taste of the shake and minimized my pain and digestive difficulties.I just refuse to do without it.

I know how much psyllium husk I need, and took over from this product was almost all the psyllium. As a result, I haven’t used enough. If you read and calculate carefully, the material is only 58% plantain. This is important because I need more than their standard, because weight is sometimes important on desert trips, and because it is difficult to make a price comparison without knowing the amount of active product in the package.

If you feel like you’re about to blow out that aneurysm in your brain by trying to push that grummy out, then this is the product for you! It will slide with the greatest ease!

Since I have been using Metamucil a few years ago and this is fine for me.Many other products have been tried for years and Metamucil is the best of all.

It tastes good and really does add more fiber to my diet. I just wish they didn’t use artificial sweeteners. I would have preferred sugar or even no sweetener at all.

I recommend following this link about aspartame, […] I thought I was getting a healthy sugar product, then after taking just 3 days, I noticed I was getting irritable and getting headaches. My diet is sugar free and also sweetener free, but saw on Dr. Oz how much he like Meta mucil. So I guess it was healthy, don’t read the label, my big mistake. I returned this product and if I could, I would give it zero. I used to use this product like orange and unflavored. It was good. I did a little research and started using Yerba Prima instead, mainly because it was not harmful food coloring, sugar, aspartamine, sucrose, stuff that I was not crazy about consuming.I am much happier with Yerba Prima. So folks, there is another option out there if you are concerned about a healthy option.

The problem is, the powder takes time to mix and does not mix easily. I think the pills will be better and next time I will buy pills.

I don’t drink it twice a day. Reducing my cholesterol from dangerously high to acceptable levels in 3 months. The drugs caused leg pain. This is not true. Great stuff!

This product works well at reducing cholestrol without taking perscriptions., My husband loves the best berry and are hard to find. We have navigated a lot for this purchase, but love the product. I recommend this product

It’s just that when you find what you like, the manufacturer seems to kill him. (Often thought it was just a new product manager trying to make money with spurs.) I do not know why he suddenly disappeared from the shelves of all stores in our area. Anyway, buy four from this supplier at their reasonable price and they ship for free, very quickly. By the way, Berry Sugar Metamucil is good wines and works. This Sugar Free Metamucil is exactly what my gastroenterologist told me to take. But when I found it, and – luckily – read the ingredients, I discovered that it contains aspartame, a substance that I avoid. Then I became further curious and read on FD&C yellow No. 6. Discovered that is prohibited in many countries. You can Google it if you care what you put into your body. Being an analytical kind, I thought about this more. Yes, my esteemed MD said that it has nothing to do with plantain to fix what needs to be fixed. And I want to fix it. So more research has shown me that I can get Plantain without worrying about supplementation. Why would I need it sweetened or flavored? In fact, I gagged for the sweet / flavor when I tried it while I have no problem with the authentic version, which can be bought online or at your local health food store, even in this rural small town. I’m just saying. ”

Although I have not tried the product, my family members swear by it.Nice large size for a good price makes this keeper.

This flavor is much better than the standard orange flavor Most stores carry. Easy to take and goes down the throat smoothly.

This smooth texture does not disturb my belly as much as other so-called smooth affairs. You can easily see the difference in detail. It is not easy to find in stores, but there is a very good price.

Colon is a little slow … ride the M-train! Good colon health cannot be overstated! A little scoop-in, a little chug-in, and that train keeps on tootin together! The best price I found on this stuff right here on Amazon. What else can I say? He does what he has to!

I changed my eating habits drastically in order to lose weight and noticed that I became very irregular. I now drink 1 glass a day and I have become regular again. I love the pink lemonade flavor a million times more than the orange flavor.

Metamucil is great stuff. For those of you who are not familiar with him, this is not as bad as you might think. It won’t make you shit your pants. It just helps you go to the bathroom. There are many people I know who I have tried this and are very happy with it.They are very surprised by the results. I have been using Metamucil consistently for over 10 years. One thing you must remember while using this product. Unless you have to mix it and drink it right away. It’s not like you sit and sip for half an hour. It starts to freeze immediately. And get all the slimy and the texture will be unpleasant. I have tried other brand names. Just like generics. Metamucil is by far the best product of its kind. And I will continue to buy it in the future.Never in a million years have I thought taking a product like this once a day (the first thing in the morning) will result in the benefits Metamucil has provided me. But it was done. The drug I am taking causes constipation. But because of this product, I am now “normal” (if you catch my drift). The taste is great too. Plus, it’s sugar free. I highly recommend this product.

I have been using this product for several years now and plan to continue. It really works. When I first started out, the hardest part for me was remembering to drink. While I was feeling great, I sometimes forgot. Then uncomfortable, inflated feelings. Then I wanted to drink it. Now, I put it next to my vitamins, so I will remember. I recommend drinking it every day to give yourself the extra fiber you need to stay on a regular basis. Do not forget and suffer Ears while bathing.

I take this twice a day. It was by far the best I’ve tasted. Other brands like Walmart’s val mucil do not dissolve well, ate gritty, very sweet. It dissolves so easily. Tastes great, not sweet.

It’s easy to fix, it’s delicious, it’s good for me, and it seems to do what it’s supposed to do … I’m happy, I’ll buy it again!

it may work, but the flavor is totally Yech. So artificial tasting, it makes me want to puke. Where is the original unflavored kind?

Somewhat disappointed. Metamucil is much smoother and doesn’t hit in a glass of water, but it doesn’t seem to be as good as some local drugstore grocery chains, and the local grocery store is much cheaper.I really like Metamucil and it helps me so much when I am constipated. I would like to buy it again. Thanks. The product – Metamucil – very good – I am told to take it for the rest of my life. BEWARE – the painting makes it look like the regular Metamucil size you buy in the store (comparable to the orange flavor). What I got is actually a “miniature” container of Metamucil, which makes the price outrageous. I can’t find it in stores – the very berries have obviously been taken off the shelves for some reason.I guess I’ll have to get used to the nasty “orange flavor” if I want normal sized containers.

I have always bought a cheap drinks husk brand / psyllium fiber store. I’ve had IBS since I was young, although it dissipates significantly as I get older, I take fiber once in a while, as the procedure makes me more comfortable. It mixes very well and was so easy to take. The aroma of the berry is a good change in pace from all orange. I would recommend it.

Just what I expected to receive when I ordered the product.Something looking to take every day if you don’t have enough fiber.

Has a mild OJ flavor, it really helps with making you softer more regular. Adds soft volume. My surprise was in my physical year my bad cholesterol dropped 20 points from where it has been for the past 21 years. This was the only change I made in my life and diet.

it is a drink that I can enjoy all summer long. The taste is good, slightly tart, and not too sweet. It stays blended better than others. It tastes good and I have had good results. Happy! and I will order more. a little more expensive i think.

The first time I tried it, I used too much Metamucil to the water and it got pretty ‘jelly-like’. With the correct proportions, it works very well; tender, tasty, easy to take and natural ingredients … I also wish it was sugar free. I highly recommend it to anyone who can use some extra fiber in their diet.

It tastes great, much better than orange.I highly recommend this product if you decide to try this fiber supplement.

I bought this because I felt that we needed more fiber, since I only do salads 2-3 nights a week. Television advertisements imply that it can help lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels. We used it for a week and then quit because it raised both my and my husband’s blood sugar from 5 to 10 points. The orange flavor is not objectionable. Note that in order to mix it properly, you must put water in a glass and then sprinkle in powder and stir vigorously, otherwise, you will end up with lumps.Metamucil works. I mix a teaspoon in a glass of OJ and drink a glass of water. This is consistent with my system. We have searched for this product throughout eastern Iowa…. Our local pharmacist even had your production – so we couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw that it was available on Amazon Thank you very much – this is a detail my wife must have on a daily basis in order to survive.

The goods are of good quality. I heard that this is good. It tastes good and tastes orange. But it is difficult to dissolve evenly so that it becomes difficult to eat.

Love this stuff and its great for regulating your stomach, it gets thick very quickly. Does exactly what advertised and tastes good with water.

Why Don; t stores carry it anymore? This version tastes better, and we have to take it twice a day forever – well, why should I put up with unpleasant tasting fiber drinks? All I want is my Metamucil Berry Free.

This is the second time I have used this brand and it works great.I only needed it short term and it did the job by taking the medication.

so far so good i think. I don’t have much to say at this point. It takes time until this product works or not for me.

This product is only available from Amazon. Metamucil advertises it on their website, but it’s not available for sale. It’s the only one my wife can take. PGA will not reply to emails I send them Adolph Lankford

Have been using this for a while to help control cholesterol levels…. and it also helps in weight loss! Don’t be afraid to try it.

My husband is very fond of this product and we had difficulty finding it in local stores. Making sure that Amazon was a surprise and he is very happy with the product and the ease of ordering and receiving.

Not only does this product provide the fiber you need for a healthy lifestyle, but it also tastes great. Varieties like orange soda. Who doesn’t like orange soda! Does exactly what it says on the package. Since this is a product you are consuming, it will work a little differently for everyone. For me, it helped with my bowel movements and cleaning. I have read and carefully consider the warnings about malnutrition, but if you have no problem with this, I would recommend this product.

It is a very mild yet effective product to ensure you are getting enough fiber. I don’t take it every day, just the time I don’t eat, and also I should. The orange flavor is also pretty good.

This product does what it is supposed to do and I love it. I wish they were other flavors to chose from.Great for lowering bile salts! 30gms nightly is very beneficial for improving your cholesterol profile, not to mention the obvious benefit of improved bowel activity.

This is my favorite Metamucil scent and is hard to find. A large package is better than small ones.

These products are very difficult to find and when you make it expensive. I don’t know why they don’t do it like they do orange stuff. It’s a much better product, hopefully they’ll start making it again. My husband loves him. Jackie-wi

Why did Metamucil stop making this scent (pink lemonade)? It is undoubtedly the best of its tastes – that one ‘Berry’ is downright disgusting. Please Metamucil, bring back the pink lemonade!

I decided to buy this product cause you don’t find the taste of Limonade in the grocery anywhere, expensive, but I like it

it’s a gritty drink. the capsules are probably nicer. aroma tastes like cool relief. wish i got that much.

This product has been modified – instead of a tablespoon, now you use a teaspoon, but does not dissolve, as the old material does not remain mixed – volumetric slides down to the bottom of the glass – I prefer the old product. It’s much better than orange, but why is the world worth more than doubled?

Just need to order more I had a kind of berry this time I wanted an orange again. The berry was ok, but I just wanted to change back and forth.

Metamucil product is great for me, all I want to know is that every time I have to take. I need your help with yew stuff

This is the original Metamucil and arrived on time and packaged in order. It was more expensive than in-store purchases at Walmart

If you need a fiber supplement, then this is the one you want. You will be surprised at how good this taste is. Other brands and fragrances all pale in comparison. The mixing is also great. They make a mixed berry flavor as well, which is not that good.

Great stuff. We like the taste of the berry better than the orange flavor. Goes down easily and helps with digestive problems.

I wanted a pack of 2 as advertised, but charged half the price and only got 1. Ads did not match the quantity shipped.

When I decided to use this product, my wife warned me to expect it to taste terrible.Well, I wouldn’t drink this, I know, as a joke, but it’s actually not bad. Maybe because I was expecting the worst, the orange flavor with artificial sweeteners was actually almost good. Here’s what I have found works best for me: 1. * Tall * glass of * cold * water. 2. Add a teaspoon to the water in a kind of sprinkling, sifting motion (to minimize clumping). 3. Stir very well – but quickly. You don’t want this to sit before drinking it. 4.Drink – this is not the drink you want the nurse. 5. Maybe followup with an inch of plain cold water in the glass.

I never knew that there might be a choice in Metamucil flavors. So I took a chance and bought a Berry flavor. If I don’t like the taste I’ll have to put it in the closet … by itself. Luckily I like the scent and I only need to use one amount of a teaspoon. Due to my situation (post effects of radiation therapy for prostate cancer) I take two doses a day. Try.I use this product on a daily basis and it really works like extra fiber. Just a little bit tart. More about the sour than the sweet side. The taste is awful, I thought it would be better than an orange, but its awful … Well, I didn’t like it. I recommend to get a little one before targeting this big friend

90,000 Fiber Confidence in metamucil Ingredients 2021

Fiber is a dietary fiber supplement that was introduced by Proctor & Gamble in 2006.Colorless and tasteless fiber can be easily mixed in liquids or incorporated into baked goods and other recipes, providing users with a daily dose of fiber. The fiber contained only one ingredient, inulin, plant fiber. Fibers may be available for purchase in some locations, but as of 2010, Proctor & Gamble no longer sells a product under that name. The company changed its name to Metamucil Clear and Natural. The only ingredient in the product, inulin, remains unchanged.

    Inulin

Inulin is a plant fiber from chicory root.Chicory is a plant that grows throughout North America. According to Georgetown University, chicory leaves can be used as a vegetable or salad green. Its root is sometimes ground and used as a coffee substitute or additive. For centuries, chicory root has been used medicinally to relieve digestion and treat skin conditions, gout, jaundice, and inflammation.

    Fiber types

There are two types of fibers, soluble and insoluble.Inulin is a soluble fiber. A teaspoon serving of Fibersure contains 5 grams of fiber. Soluble fiber dissolves in water and forms a gel during digestion, which slows down the digestion process. Insoluble fiber makes stools bulky, speeding up the digestion process. The body is unable to digest fiber. Therefore, it is expelled from your body largely intact. Insoluble fiber promotes healthy bowel movement. Soluble fiber helps the body maintain healthy blood cholesterol levels, reduces the risk of heart disease, and controls blood glucose levels.

    Nutrient Sources

Although a fiber supplement is a healthy alternative, the best sources of fiber are those found in the food you eat. Peas, beans, barley, lentils, nuts, and fruits are all sources of soluble fiber. Insoluble fiber is found in vegetables, bran, and whole grains such as whole wheat flour, wheat germ, brown rice, and buckwheat. A high fiber diet helps maintain a healthy weight, healthy gut, and healthy cholesterol levels.According to the Harvard School of Public Health, adult men should consume more than 30 grams of fiber daily, while adult women should aim for more than 20 grams of fiber daily.

90,000 🐈 How to put a sick cat to sleep ★★★★★ – HEALTH

If you know your sick cat is not getting well, it’s time to think about when to sleep. When his condition worsens to a certain point, the time has come. This decision is never easy, and your veterinarian should be able to help you make the decision.Euthanasia literally means “good death,” which is the last loving gesture you can make for your pet. Instead of pain and possibly long-term suffering, you can help him go calmly and peacefully.

    When It’s Time

Your cat’s pain level and quality of life are major factors in deciding whether to sleep with your pet. If your cat’s pain is no longer adequately controlled with medication, the time has come.If he cannot or will not eat, if he is not fed, he is trying to tell you something. Incontinence, inability to walk, and loss of interest in any activity are signs that he no longer has any quality of life. Sick cats can have good days and bad days, depending on the disease. When the latter is almost all he has, let him go.

    Euthanasia process

You can choose whether or not to stay with your pet while it is euthanized. There is no right or wrong decision. For some people, it is important to say goodbye, while for others it is too difficult. Your veterinarian can calm your cat before the procedure so that it “comes out” before injecting the euthanasia drug. Most veterinarians use an overdose of sodium pentobarbitol to euthanize animals, a drug that quickly causes the heart to stop. Your cat will not be harmed and will be gone in a few minutes. Before he leaves, he may twitch or inhale a little, or pass urine or feces. This is fine.Rest assured your pet is not sick.

    Euthanasia Considerations

If your cat is conscious and has always had a tendency to get into the carrier and go to the vet, consider euthanasia at home. The veterinarian comes to your home and places your cat in its own environment, avoiding the stress of travel. Not all veterinary practices offer home euthanasia. If your veterinarian does not, ask for recommendations for a practice offering this service. After euthanasia, your veterinarian may collect your pet’s body for cremation or arrange for burial in your home graveyard.

    Grieving Counseling

It is natural for your cat to grieve, even if he has been sick for a while and you knew that day was coming.
