Hangover Home Remedies: Homemade Veisalgia Symptoms Cures

Even though there are no magical cures for a hangover, there are remedies that can help an individual get rid of veisalgia at home. These homemade remedies for a hangover can help relieve the unpleasant symptoms the morning after drinking. Read on to find out the most effective crapulence relieve remedies that can be easily found in every house.

Home Remedies In Hangover Treatment

Most people that are uncomfortable with the alcohol aftereffect wonder how long a hangover lasts and whether there is a quick homemade treatment for it. When looking for a way to treat a veisalgia, it is important to address the underlying factors. That is where hangover cure at home comes in.

Hangover home remedies treat the underlying factors such as low blood sugar, dehydration, inflammation, headaches, nausea, and tiredness. Below are some of the best home remedies for aftereffect that will help anyone looking for how to get rid of hangover.

Green Tea

Green tea is one of the most popular home remedies for alcohol poisoning. It contains antioxidants that decrease alcohol consumption adverse effects. Green tea has a lot of beneficial plant chemicals such as catechins which protect the liver from damaging alcohol effects.

Consider adding green tea to daily diet to treat crapulence symptoms such as headache, nausea and upset stomach. Add ginger, milk thistle, or chamomile if present at home to give the best home remedy for a hangover.

Honey And Lemons

For anyone curious what’s the best cure for a hangover, the answer is quite simple. Honey and lemons are fructose-containing home hangover remedies which help to balance the blood sugar levels and reduce nausea.

Fructose is a form of sugar that speeds up alcohol metabolism and helps to remove if faster. The fructose prevents the speedy change in the level of alcohol. Add a few teaspoons of honey in warm water, so it dissolves. After dissolving add the lemon juice to it and drink.

The depletion of Vitamins in the body may result in an aftereffect. Vitamins B6, C, and D can reduce the veisalgia symptoms and are present almost in every house. Take them in the form of a vitamin supplement from the pharmacy or find a natural source in fruit and vegetables. Green vegetables and citrus fruit are especially useful.

Banana is known to be a multi-purpose medicinal food that contains potassium, vitamin B6, and magnesium. The depletion of these nutrients in the body is one of the reasons why people get an aftereffect. An individual can replenish the body with all these nutrients by consuming bananas. Also, the fruit can work as an antacid thereby can be used as one of the home remedies for diarrhea and vomiting.

Pickle Juice

When an individual takes alcohol, the electrolytes in the body can be reduced, and this can cause a headache. Taking pickle juice can work as one of the home hangover cures because the salt in it replenishes the electrolytes a person has lost while drinking. This, in turn, makes a headache and other unpleasant symptoms go away.

Smoothies And Juices

Healthy smoothies and juices recipe can be used as a morning after home remedies for hangover. Combining ingredients rich in antioxidant and vitamins in the tasty cocktail may be the best option of what to drink after hangover. The most effective ingredients include ginger, banana, blueberries, and lemon which help reset the mineral level and detoxify the body.

Noodle Soup

Noodle soups are a hangover cure food that delivers protein to the body and detoxifies the liver. As one of the hangovers cures home remedies, it helps to get rid of toxins deposited in the body by alcohol. Also, the salt in the broth keeps a person hydrated by helping the body retain water.

Due to the diuretic effect of alcohol a person may be dehydrated, and this can make the hangover even worse. This results in loss of electrolytes and fluids which is required for normal functioning of the body. Even though dehydration may not be the only cause of aftereffect, staying hydrated by drinking water can be the quickest way to get rid of a hangover.

Drinking More Alcohol

Furthermore, there is a method that people believes cure aftereffect, and it is called “the hair of the dog.” The method involves consuming more alcohol to alleviate symptoms when a person has a veisalgia. But does alcohol help headaches? There is no credible research proving the effectiveness of taking alcohol to reduce aftereffect symptoms.

However, some theories revealed why it may help a hungover individual feel better.

If a person is experiencing an aftereffect and takes more alcohol, it will raise the blood alcohol level, boost endorphins, and slows aftereffect-inducing compound production.

Unfortunately, all these effects delay the veisalgia. They will come back when a person stops drinking. It means taking more alcohol morning after the veisalgia is not one of the morning after home remedies for hangover.

Getting Help With Veisalgia

The punchline is that a person can try the home remedies for hangover mentioned above to avoid headaches, pain, drowsiness, nausea, and other general symptoms of aftereffect. Note that aftereffect cannot be eliminated without addressing the underlying factors whether an individual uses a hangover clinic or home remedies.

A mobile hangover clinic can be an alternative home remedy for someone who is hungover. Even though this might look like a quick fix, it may not be the perfect solution if one wants to cure the heavy morning after naturally and safely.

Enrolling in the rehabilitation clinic for alcohol abusers will be a more complex alternative. The alcoholism treating options offered there are aimed at getting rid of substance addiction rather than masking the severe symtpoms of abuse.

8 NATURAL HANGOVER CURES + VITAMIN WATER RECIPE: Denver Sports Recovery: Sports Recovery

The sun is out, the weather is heating up (for us lucky folks in Denver!)….which means backyard BBQs, Sunday beer sessions, happy hours, parties and weddings are kicking into gear. Spring/summer is a time to be social, but sometimes being social translates into being over-served.

As fun as drinking can be, the body really takes a hit. After a big day/night out, you gotta give your body some love. No one likes to feel badly after having a good time so here are my top tips for enjoying a drink (or 10. .) and not suffering (too much) the next day!

Eat before you drink

Drinking on an empty stomach sets you up for a wicked hangover the next morning. If you’re drinking at night, make sure to eat dinner before you start drinking or along with your first few.

Go Clear

Go for the clear and clean alcohols — vodka, gin, white wine — as darker booze contains more chemicals called congeners which inflame the body and intensify hangovers. Mix your liquor with plain or sparkling water + fresh lime. Sugary mixers (especially diet sodas!) make hangovers way worse.

This one is obvious, but I have to make sure you heard it loud and clear. Alcohol is a diuretic which means it makes you pee. Diuretics can lead to dehydration if you’re not hydrating with water while you drink. When you get home from a boozy night, slam a big glass of water before bed. The next morning, drink a large mug of warm water with lemon. Sip on water and coconut water throughout the day! Coconut water is loaded with potassium so it’s way better than Gatorade for replenishing electrolytes. Make a jug of my natural vitamin water (recipe below)!

Take your B Vitamins

Alcohol depletes vitamins in the body. If you’re not too sloppy when you get home, pop a B-complex vitamin before you go to bed….and then another one after breakfast the next morning.

Take Shots!…. of Apple Cider Vinegar

This wonderful elixir will balance your blood pH levels and increase deficient minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium and iron. Try 1 tablespoon of ACV in water with 1/2 tsp turmeric. Shot it back.

Eat a Good Breakfast

Unfortunately, being hungover does not give you a hall pass to head to McDonald’s or a greasy diner. Greasy, heavy food will really make you feel worse. I promise. Instead, opt for eggs and asparagus! Eggs contain a substance called cysteine which breaks down acetaldehyde (a hangover-causing toxin in alcohol). Asparagus assists with breaking down alcohol in your system so your hangover will be over quicker. Pair your eggs and asparagus with some gluten free toast + avocado for a well-rounded brekkie.

Sweat It Out

Exercise gets the blood flowing and stimulates the lymphatic system to excrete toxins. Do whatever exercise you love to do – walking, running, tennis, yoga, etc. If you don’t opt for a yoga class, add some twisting poses to your workout to help with wringing out the digestive system.

Love your Liver

Your liver is in overdrive after a boozy night. If you have a juicer, or a juice bar nearby, treat yourself to a big ole veggie juice which is a champ when it comes to liver detox. Add as many greens into your juice as you can stand and guzzle. Also, try to incorporate some brassica veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, kale, cabbage, Brussel sprouts) into your meals that day to support detoxification. Sip on roasted dandelion root tea.

Make a big batch of this refreshing and detoxifying natural vitamin water and drink over the course of the day. It’s pretty, and yummy, and sure to get you feeling good as gold in no time!

Natural Vitamin Water

Serves 4

  • Four cups of cold coconut or mineral water
  • 1 lemon
  • a handful of mint leaves
  • slice of fresh ginger root
  • 1 small cucumber
  • handful of frozen raspberries
  • handful of frozen blueberries
  • optional: 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar

Peel the cucumber into strips using a potato peeler. Slice the lemon into circles, the ginger into thin rounds and pull the mint leaves off their stalks.

Pour the water or coconut water into a jug and add the lemon, cucumber, mint leaves and berries. Add a dash of apple cider vinegar if you’re brave. Then let the water sit for about thirty minutes to allow the flavors to infuse into it.

Enjoy for a happy hangover!

5 Natural Hangover Remedies That Work, According To a Doctor

It’s the end of 2020 and for some of us, it’s about celebrating the end of this emotionally draining year. Despite your personal outlook, you may find yourself with a drink in your hand, especially during New Year’s Eve celebrations.

This time of year, experts predict that more individuals will resort to heavy drinking to cope with the current state of the world. The events of 2020 ” has created a perfect storm for more people to turn to drinking as a way to cope, especially during the holiday season,” says Dr. Kristamarie Collman, MD, a board-certified family medicine physician and founder of Prōse Medical. A report published earlier this year showed that adults ages 30 to 59 reported drinking 14 percent more than last year. Excessive alcohol consumption is linked to numerous illnesses, such as heart disease and liver disease in addition to mental health disorders, according to Collman.

If alcohol is a part of your celebrations, drinking in moderation is your safest bet. According to Dietary Guidelines for Americans, this is defined as having up to one drink per day for women and up to two drinks for men. However, this holiday season, you may not realize when you had one too many with all of the Zoom gatherings at home, says Dr. Collman. It will probably not be uncommon to wake up the next morning and find yourself in a dazed state, experiencing a variety of unpleasant hangover symptoms. In an exclusive interview with The Beet, Dr. Collman provides recommendations on some natural remedies that harnesses the power of plants to ease and heal a bad hangover:

1. Ginger and peppermint tea to help with nausea

“Ginger and Peppermint have been around for thousands of years and have been used in helping to improve nausea symptoms. Research has shown that ginger may impact certain receptors in the digestive system that may soothe an upset stomach and reduce nausea,” says Dr. Collman.

A 2017 review published in Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition found that ginger is filled with bioactive compounds and anti-inflammatory properties to prevent nausea and vomiting. In a 2020 study published in Complementary Therapies in Medicine, peppermint oil significantly reduced the frequency of nausea, vomiting, retching, and the severity of nausea in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Ginger and peppermint tea can be made by seeping some dried ginger or peppermint tea leaves in a pot of hot water, respectively.

2. Tumeric to alleviate headaches and pains

Turmeric is a plant in the ginger family and has been used for thousands of years for a variety of illnesses. Specifically, it was in traditional Indian medicine systems such as Ayurveda to heal disorders of the skin, upper respiratory tract, joints, and digestive system, according to the National Institute of Health. “Turmeric’s active ingredient is curcumin which has potent anti-inflammatory properties. This works well to help prevent inflammation and reduce pain,” says Dr. Collman.

A 2018 study published in The Journal of Immunology found that curcumin in turmeric inhibits inflammation by suppressing the pathways that activate it in the body. Not only can turmeric be added to rice, soups, and stews but also can be used to make golden milk, a caffeine-free delicacy. Dr. Collman recommends that it may be beneficial to mix turmeric with black pepper as it can help your body to better absorb the turmeric.

3. Potassium-rich foods like avocado, bananas, and leafy greens

“If someone is experiencing hangover symptoms such as vomiting, they are at risk for electrolyte losses and imbalances. Foods such as avocados, bananas, and leafy greens (like spinach and kale) are rich in nutrients which can help to replace important minerals and vitamins that may have been depleted,” says Dr. Collman.

Low intakes of potassium have been linked to high blood pressure, increased insulin resistance (risk of type 2 diabetes), and poor bone health, according to the National Institute of Health. A 2019 study published in Nutrients found that over half of the potassium intake in the sample of adults came from minimally processed foods, such as fruits and vegetables. “Making a smoothie with these ingredients could be a simple way to incorporate these foods, but depending on one’s digestive symptoms, it might be easier to have small bites throughout the day,” says Dr. Collman.

4. Hydrating foods like watermelon, cantaloupe, and cucumbers

When you have one too many, you may feel dehydrated with symptoms such as a dry mouth or headache. This is because alcohol is a diuretic, which can cause your body to remove fluids through your kidneys, ureters, and bladder at a faster rate than other liquids, according to the Mayo Clinic. “Replenishing one’s system with hydrating foods may aid in alleviating symptoms caused by dehydration,” says Dr. Collman.

She recommends foods such as watermelon and cucumber, which are not only water-rich but also have essential nutrients such as vitamin A, magnesium, and potassium. Other fruits high in water per cup include strawberries (151ml), plums (143.9ml), and apricots (133.8ml), according to USDA Food Data Central. “These food items can be added to the diet by consuming as a snack, smoothie, or even used to make a salad,” adds Dr. Collman. Make a snack plate filled with water-rich fruits like berries, melon, cantaloupe, and grapes while you are drinking to stay hydrated.

5. Coconut or plain water to increase water intake

“Increasing one’s water intake may certainly help to ease hangover symptoms. Besides the refreshing taste, coconut water can help with hydration and has an abundance of electrolytes (such as potassium and magnesium) and minerals beneficial to the body,” says Dr. Collman. After a heavy drinking session, it is best to drink lots of water to restore your hydration levels, suggests the Mayo Clinic.

A 2018 study published in Cell Metabolism found that alcohol-induced dehydration, stimulating water intake for hydration balance. If you feel like you have a drink or two during the festivities, try “pre-gaming” with a glass of water to reduce your chance of waking up with a hangover. Drinking water before and after the booze is your best bet to have a good morning the next day.

9 natural hangover remedies that really work!

You don’t have to suffer through a hangover anymore. Here are 9 tips that can help get rid of that annoying headache and stomach upset.

Written by Pavitra Sampath | Published : December 29, 2014 6:28 PM IST

With the new year around the corner, everyone is gearing up for the New Year eve party. But after all the fun comes the horrible hangover the next morning that can be quite debilitating. While having some pain killers and trying to go about your day can be an easy solution, giving your already fatigued body something natural to detox is a much better idea. So, to help you feel great the morning after a party, here are 9 natural remedies that can help zap that hangover away.

Water: The best remedy for a hangover is water. Not only does it help re-hydrate you, but it also does not put too much strain on your stomach. While drinking warm water is often more soothing than cold water, having some water just before you go to bed helps reduce the symptoms you experience the next morning. But if you missed that step, don’t worry. Start re-hydrating yourself as soon as you wake up.

Tip: Have at least one glass of water before you go to bed. If this is not possible then have one glass of warm water as soon as you wake up. This will help kick start your digestive system, re-hydrate your body and help beat the symptoms of a hangover. Remember to keep sipping on water throughout the day to help your body beat the effects of all the alcohol you’ve had.

Lemon, sugar and salt water: This is one of the most effective remedies for a hangover. Since alcohol tends to sap your body of electrolytes, sugars and water, re-hydrating yourself is key. The citric smell of lemon combined with the high amounts of vitamin C it contains helps replenish your body’s stores of nutrients. Further, salt and sugar help replenish lost electrolytes and beat the symptoms of dehydration.

Tip: Take equal amounts of lemon, sugar and salt. Add this to a one litre bottle of water. Warm water works better than cold water, but you can choose what you are comfortable with. Mix all the ingredients in the water and keep sipping on it for relief. A good way to prevent having a hangover is to drink some of this water before you go to bed. And then start your day with a tall glass of this mixture.

Barley water: Barley is a diuretic and helps flush out toxins from the body. Apart from that the minerals the seeds contain, also helps replenish what the drinking binge has sapped from your body. In addition to this, adding some lemon, salt and sugar to water infused with barley also helps beat the symptoms of a hangover.

Tip: Take a spoon of barley seeds (easily available in chemist stores) and add it to two litres of water. Allow it to come to a rolling boil and let it boil till the water changes to a pinkish hue. Once you have taken it down form the gas, allow it to cool and decant the solution. Fill it in bottles and add lemon juice, sugar and salt to it. Mix it well and keep sipping on it. Have at least two litres of this water in your entire day to help your body get rid of the alcohol.

Banana and honey milkshake: According to Anthony Hill, author of the book Hangover Survival Guide, bananas are perfect to beat a hangover. Bananas are full of sugar, potassium, magnesium and vitamin B6. The potassium helps relieve aches and pains throughout your body, helps keep a stomach upset at bay and beats heartburn as well. The magnesium helps relax and dilate your blood vessels and beats that pounding headache. Also, honey helps digest the alcohol and replenish lost electrolytes and fructose.

Tip: Take one banana and add two to three spoonfuls of honey to it. Put it in a grinder, add some milk and beat it to make it a smoothie. Drink this mix to help relieve the symptoms of a hangover.

Honey: Had on its own, honey is also a great remedy for a hangover. Packed with fructose, it replenishes the sugars that are lost in the course of alcohol metabolism (when your body tries to metabolize alcohol it loses fructose — causing a drop in your blood sugar levels, which is one of the reasons for a hangover) and helps in the quicker digestion and release of alcohol from the body, relieving the symptoms of a hangover.

Tip: Having about two tablespoons of honey helps beat a hangover. But a better way to use this remedy is to add it to a cup of hot water infused with lemon. All you need to do is boil some water and add the juice of a small piece of lemon (about half a teaspoon)and some honey. Sip on this tea for relief. You could also add some mint leaves for a lovely aroma that can help keep nausea at bay.

Coconut water: As per Fatin Mustafa, author of 40 hangover cures, coconut water is the best way to get rid of a hangover. Not only does it have more potassium than a banana and more electrolytes than most sports drinks, but it is also great at washing out the toxins from your body. Easy to find in most places, coconut water is cheap and one cup can do wonders. What’s more, it is also light on the stomach is the best antidote for those days when you cannot eat anything.

Tip: Buying some coconut water from your local store is all you need to do. A good preventive measure is to have a glass of coconut water just before you go to bed. This will give your body that much needed boost to start metabolizing all the alcohol you’ve had. Having two to three glasses of coconut water through the day helps beat a hangover and get rid of the toxins in your body.

Fruit juice: Packed with fructose, fruits and fruit juices are great to beat a hangover. Apart from that the fiber and minerals fresh fruits contain also helps get rid of toxins, replenish lost vitamins in the body and helps the liver metabolise the alcohol faster.

Tip: The best fruits to use as a remedy for a hangover are citric ones. So take a few fresh sweet lemons and oranges and put them in a juicer for a perfect hangover banishing fruit juice. You can sprinkle some chaat masala on the juice for that added boost. Other fruits like tomatoes, watermelon and apples work well too.

Ginger: A great remedy for an upset stomach, nausea and vomiting, ginger is perfect to tackle the symptoms of a hangover. Not only does it help in the digestion of alcohol but it also kills off that nauseous feeling most people have during a hangover.

Tip: All you need to do is cut a few slices of ginger and add it to a pot of boiling water. Allow it to stand for a while and add some mint leaves or some lemon to it. If you want your tea to be sweet you can choose to add a few spoons of honey to the mix. Now sip on this tea while it is still warm for relief from the symptoms of a hangover.

Reflexology: A science that based on stimulating the working of certain organs by pressing on corresponding points on the body, reflexology can also help beat the symptoms of a hangover. By pressing the points on your body that stimulate your liver, kidneys, stomach, head and solar plexus you give your body that essential boost it needs to overcome the effect of alcohol.

Liver point: Present at the centre point along the length of your foot. Pressing this point for about five minutes helps improve the function of your liver. It also helps it breakdown and eliminate alcohol from your system

Kidney point: This point is present just below the liver point and pressing it for about five minutes aids in the process of eliminating the toxins from your body.

Head/brain point: Pressing this point helps relieve a headache and therefore makes you feel better after a whole night of partying. Present on the top (fleshy part) of your little finger, pressing this point on both your feet helps relieve a headache.

Stomach point: The idea of stimulating this point is to help your stomach digest the alcohol and flush it out of your system. Also, since alcohol does tend to cause an upset stomach, pressing this point helps prevent that. Present on the outer arch of your right foot, make sure you press on this point for about five minutes.

Solar plexus: This point is meant to help you entire body and its systems realign and helps you feel better on the whole. Present on both your feet at the base of your big toe (feel for the bone also known as the ball of your foot) towards the inner edge of your foot, press this point for five minutes.

You can use the back of a pen to press down on the points. Make sure you do not press down too hard and do not hurt yourself.

8 Hangover Cures Celebrities Swear By | How to Get Rid of a Hangover

Operating by the logic that because celebrities go to more parties and have more fun than mere mortals, I decided to look to the rich and famous for their hangover helpers.

Expecting to tie one on and wear the proverbial lampshade? We’ve rounded up some of the untested, but interesting, concoctions and home remedies that may help you through the aching head and queasy tummy to come. You’re welcome.

Both Gwyneth Paltrow and Zoe Saldana swear by soaking in an Epsom salt-laced hot bath (Saldana does her soaking before going to bed). Paltrow likes to intersperse bracing one-minute showers in icy water before returning to her warm soak, and recommends big city folk head to their nearest Korean spa or Turkish hammam for a soak and splash.

James Bond hunk Daniel Craig also heads to the sauna to sweat out his alcohol-induced toxins and includes Pedialyte — used by parents for generations to rehydrate their stomach flu-sick children — in his post-drinking repertoire. DJ Diplo is also a fan of Pedialyte-fueled recovery.

Since alcohol does lead to dehydration, anything that gets non-boozy liquids back into the body is a good idea whether water, juice, coconut water or Pedialyte whose electrolytes help speed up absorption of water.

Liv Tyler recommends breakfast and the hair of the dog that slayed you the night before. And a big breakfast. Cameron Diaz is of the same breakfast-meets-hair-of-the-dog school, telling Cosmopolitan she prefers a beer and an Egg McMuffin. The Herald Sun reports that Julia Roberts goes for a fancier nip, alternating between champagne and carrot juice the morning after a night of partying.

Everyone has their favorite post-drinking edible hangover cure: a sugary Coke, strawberry or chocolate milkshakes, coffee or tea and lots of water are oft-cited hangover remedies, along with super spicy Mexican food and greasy burgers. Celebs differ on whether a healthy repast or a grease-bomb is the ticket to pain-free recuperation.

Kate Hudson recommends a very West Coast post-inebriation banquet of tomato juice, fresh fruit, avocado and lots of vitamins, while Nigella Lawson prefers a “prairie oyster”: a mash-up of egg yolk, Tabasco, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar and brandy swallowed in one gulp. An heiress with very of-the-people tastes, Paris Hilton’s post-shindig binge is a Quarter Pounder with cheese and fries. Rihanna likes “ice and Chinese food” when a hangover hits.

Some combination of eggs and bacon or eggs and pork belly or eggs and ham or eggs and sausage comes up often enough to make us think these celebrities are onto something.

Celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson prefers ramen soup loaded with pork fat or pork belly and capped with a poached egg, while Australian pop star Kylie Minogue sticks with basic egg sandwiches and star chef Jamie Oliver likes a double portion of eggs and bacon. Renee Zellweger recovers with a full-on English breakfast including beans on toast. And Kate Winslet told Australia’s Herald-Sun about her post-inebriation meal of choice: “a sausage and bacon sandwich usually does it for me. I also have a big glass of orange juice and a cup of sugary tea. The combination of vitamins and sugar perks me up.”

For the truly strong of constitution, a good sweat and some physical exertion gets the lead out. The Dark Knight star Christian Bale likes to go running after a night of drinking. And flapper-era party animal Zelda Fitzgerald (married to the tragically alcohol-fueled novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald) preferred a morning swim to relieve the aches and pangs of bathtub gin and doing the Charleston ’til dawn. A brisk walk can also do the trick.

Globe-trotting bartender Shingo Gokan, who has served up A-list clients at tony bars in Atlanta, New York and Tokyo, knows his way around a stiff drink and also a remedy for too much of a good thing. “Any soup; clear, not too heavy. And water with lemon. Simple and easy things. When I’m in Southeast Asia I always have coconut water,” Shingo told Travel Channel.

Coconut water tends to have less sugar than the sports drinks that many use to help with a hangover, but it has the electrolyes and super-hydrating qualities that make people turn to Gatorade or Pedialyte.

Lady Gaga told the U.K.’s Daily Record she gets started on a night of partying early. “Croissants the morning before a party are good for hangovers. Also green juice, although I still think health drinks taste like feet.” Not a bad idea at all, since making sure you eat and drink enough water or juice before, during and after your boozing can help mitigate a hangover. Some recommend one glass of water or juice for every alcoholic drink consumed.

Hung-over? Try these 5 easy and natural home-remedies

Published on
Dec 25, 2018, 04:20 pm

It’s the year-end, which mainly implies two things: Christmas festivities and the new year celebrations.

And for some, celebrations are synonymous with drinking.

However, the hangover part of it all isn’t that fun.

In fact, hangovers can be frustratingly bad, given the annoying hotchpotch of nausea, headache, stomach-ache, and lethargy that comes with them.

So, here are 5 easy home-remedies to help cure hangover.

Staying hydrated is more important than you think

One of the major reasons for hangovers is alcohol-induced dehydration.

That’s why it is recommended to take a glass or two of water in between those pints and shots, and also the next morning if you get up with a hangover.

However, water alone can’t help if it’s a particularly bad hangover, so you can always give a try to the following home-remedies.

Ginger works wonders against hangover symptoms like nausea

A time-tested cure for seasickness and nausea, ginger is yet another miracle remedy to help you reduce hangover symptoms.

In addition, ginger is also good for improving digestion, thus relieving you of stomach-ache and feelings of uneasiness.

So, make yourself some ginger tea. Or cut a few slices out of ginger root, add in boiling water, and drink, in order to feel better.

Honey is packed with potassium and antioxidants

The Royal Society of Chemistry labels honey as an ideal way of dealing with hangovers, not for nothing.

Rich in potassium, antioxidants, digestive enzymes, and antibacterial properties, honey makes for a foolproof way of getting over mild to severe hangovers.

Gulp down some raw honey, or spread over your morning toast.

One can also make a refreshingly good lemon-honey-water syrup to get relief.

A powerhouse of all essential electrolytes, Coconut-water is refreshingly good

Alcohol intake makes you lose essential electrolytes by way of urination, thus depleting your energy, and giving way to hangovers.

That’s exactly when coconut water comes into the scene as it contains five major electrolytes found in our body viz. potassium, sodium, magnesium, phosphorous, and calcium, and is great for re-hydration.

Also, unlike most energy/sport drinks, it is considerably low in sugar.

Potassium-loaded Bananas to the rescue!

A crazy party night with no dearth of alcohol, and obviously, frequent trips to the bathroom can drain your body of its potassium-content.

That’s why bananas make for a great cure for getting over hangovers, as they are naturally rich in potassium, and help restore your potassium levels.

And the best part is that there’s no effort involved. Just peel one and eat away.

10 Weird Hangover Remedies That Actually Work

There’s nothing like an amazing night out with friends, but (sadly) sometimes you end up paying for it the next morning. Your head is pounding, your stomach is not cooperating, and you kind of just feel like you’ve been hit by a truck. There are so many weird hangover remedies out there, but how do you know what actually works?

There isn’t a whole lot of scientific research out there on how to cure a hangover, according to The Guardian. Shaughnessy Bishop-Stall, who spent 10 years researching his own hangover cure for the book Hungover: The Morning After and One Man’s Quest for the Cure, told The Guardian, “The most obvious reason is just a sort of moralistic one. Doctors who are pressed for time say: ‘Why am I going to waste my time on this? All you have to do is not drink.

Bishop-Stall told The Guardian that his remedy involves taking milk thistle for the liver; the amino acid and immune system aid N-acetylcysteine; vitamins B1, B6, and B12, which boost metabolism; and frankincense, an anti-inflammatory, after drinking but before you go to bed, all of which are available at your local pharmacy or online. But these are 11 other hangover remedies you can try that are a little simpler than Bishop-Stall’s method.

Take A Shot Of Pickle Juice

Neilson Barnard/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images

OK, it might sound a little yucky, but the idea behind drinking pickle juice to cure a hangover is that the salt in pickle juice is supposed to replenish the electrolytes you’ve lost after a night of drinking, according to Health. Dr. Tochi Iroku-Malize, M.D., a practicing family physician in Long Island, New York, told Health pickle juice will help with your electrolytes, but you should still drink lots of water and get some sleep.

Have A Glass Of Kombucha

Kombucha also contains electrolytes and can help you get rehydrated if you want something other than a sports drink or plain water, according to PopSugar. Research on whether kombucha can help with stomach aches is limited, says PopSugar, but the bubbles also might help your tummy feel a little better, too.

Eat A Honey Toast Sandwich

There’s no scientific evidence that a big, greasy breakfast will cure your hangover, according to Health. In fact, a greasy breakfast might just give you heartburn after drinking a lot, says Health. John Brick, Ph.D., an alcohol research scientist and author of The Doctor’s Hangover Handbook, recommends eating something light. “No specific foods are recommended, although honey sandwiches are helpful to some people,” Brick told Health.

Drink A Big Glass Of Coconut Water

Monica Schipper/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images

It’s common to lose a lot of potassium from frequent urination and (maybe) vomiting after a night out drinking, says Livestrong, and coconut water is full of potassium. Coconut water is way easier on your stomach than acidic beverages like orange juice, so Livestrong says it’ll help you get rehydrated in no time. Cosmopolitan recommends adding pineapple juice to your coconut water if you don’t like the taste so it’s more like a piña colada, and the extra sugar can give you a boost in mood.

Take A Ginger Supplement Or Add Some Ginger To Your Tea

According to Livestrong, alcohol makes your stomach overproduce hydrochloric acid, which is why you might feel nauseated the day after you’ve been drinking. Ginger can help soothe an upset stomach, says Livestrong, so reach for some ginger ale, take a ginger supplement, or slice up some ginger root and put in in your tea or morning smoothie.

Skip the whole “hair of the dog” thing and go straight for the tomato juice to help your hangover. Heathline says tomato juice can speed up how quickly your body processes alcohol and can even protect your body against liver injury. Plus a few spices and garnishes can make it a tasty way to start your morning, especially if you’re not quite holding solid food down yet.

Brew Some Green Tea

Consuming foods and beverages high in antioxidants can also help your body start to recover from the effects of alcohol, according to Medical News Today. Green tea is a great source of antioxidants, along with berries, spinach, nuts, seeds, dark chocolate, and even carrots, says Medical News Today. That means you could also have a small spinach salad to cure your hangover if your stomach feels up to it.

Eat A Bowl Of Miso Soup

Soup in general is just kind of a great hangover cure, but Livestrong recommends miso soup for hangovers because of its water and salt content. The water rehydrates you, while the salt helps your body hold onto that water, says Livestrong. And miso is made from fermented soybeans, and fermented foods are just plain good for your gut anyway, according to Livestrong. Win-win!

Cover Yourself In Menthol And Mint

As someone who gets migraines, I can vouch for this one. Danielle Guercio, a now-retired bartender who used to work at PKNY, a tiki bar in New York City, told Insider to basically use anything mint or menthol to treat your hangover. “Upon waking and throughout the day, massage a drop or two of peppermint oil into your entire scalp and ears,” Guercio told Insider. “Smear Vick’s Vaporub under your nose to avoid feeling nauseous from [unpleasant smells]. […] Drink double-strength mint tea, and put the teabags onto your eyelids for a few moments.”

Eat Some Avocado Toast

Yes, I went there. But I have good reason. Just like coconut water, avocados can help you raise your potassium levels after a night of heavy drinking, according to Healthline. And Healthline says avocados can also help protect your liver against injury, so they’re a particularly good food to eat when you’re having a hangover.

However you decide to treat your hangover, Harvard Health says it’s just important to drink fluids, get your blood sugar levels back up, and maybe take a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory pain-reliever other than acetaminophen. Your body needs some time to recover, so just remember to allow yourself the space to feel better.

Remedies for a hangover – pills, folk methods – January 1, 2020

New Year is a test not only for the wallet, but also for the whole organism. An abundance of fatty foods and alcohol. After a ten-day marathon, even seasoned fitness goers can feel disassembled. We have selected several popular recipes for how to quickly get rid of a hangover syndrome, as well as expert recommendations that will help you stay fit and return to training with minimal loss of health.

It is important to remember that alcohol dehydrates the body, so the next day try to drink as much as possible. By the way, the magical all-healing cucumber pickle in this case really will not be superfluous. Salt will help restore sodium levels that have been partially lost through dehydration. If there is no brine in the house, then purchase “Regidron” at the pharmacy, which is designed to deal precisely with the consequences of dehydration. The solution turns out to be saturated, but no one forbids diluting it with water.

Chief freelance psychiatrist-narcologist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation Evgeny Brun recommends to have a hangover with kefir , which will help to establish the work of the digestive tract.

We should also mention preparations that will help you get back on line as quickly as possible: “Polysorb”, activated carbon and similar preparations . In case of alcohol poisoning, they neutralize the action of toxins and help in the fight against nausea and gastrointestinal upset.

As proved by our employees, vitamin C does not help to fight drunkenness and hangover in any way, but the rosehip broth, rich in this vitamin, will not be superfluous to drink. A contrast shower will also help against a hangover , but you should not go to a bath or sauna the next day after a feast – the load on the heart is too great.

“After a binge, you should never train the next day. If the holiday spree is prolonged, it would be nice to rest for a couple of days. Enter the training process calmly, do not immediately give very heavy loads. It is better to exclude fatty, fried foods from the diet, so that the liver can recover.Try to drink more water – 3-4 liters per day depending on body weight, ”advises Sergey Mozhaev, trainer of the Alex Fitness club chain.

His colleague from the “Fitness Territory” Denis Piklyaev agrees with Sergei’s arguments and recommends not to delay parting with workouts for a long time.

“The best prevention of the consequences of the holidays is to try not to drag out these very holidays. Try to keep yourself in line during the feast, do not overeat, do not drink too much alcohol, – emphasizes Denis. – It is important to understand that the longer you do not train, the harder it is to return to the gym. If you appear in a rocking chair on January 2-3 and do a light workout, you will be motivated to come back in a couple of days. If you miss a couple of weeks and eat and drink all this time, you will lose your form, and it will be very difficult to get involved emotionally. During the holidays, there is no need to set new records in squats or deadlifts – this leads to increased pressure. ”

Remedies for fumes – how to effectively get rid of bad breath

The smell of fumes is one of the unpleasant consequences of drinking alcohol, which manifests itself as bad breath. To eliminate it, you can use home remedies for fumes or medications. Using the recommended methods, you can significantly reduce the smell and other not very pleasant sensations after alcohol abuse. It is advisable to use remedies for fumes before contact with people – so as not to run into trouble at work.

What is fumes, the reasons for the appearance of

Fume is a manifestation of the products of the splitting of alcoholic beverages. It can appear within an hour or two after consumption, as well as in the morning after a feast. The liver converts strong and weak alcoholic beverages into acetaldehyde and acetic acid, which has a pungent, unpleasant odor from the mouth. The body also smells like , because acetic acid is released both through the skin and urine. Therefore, chewing gums and other flavored products do not always help. The fume lasts for the entire time until the toxic decomposition products of ethyl alcohol are removed from the body.

What folk remedy for fumes is most often used

The most common methods for eliminating fumes:

  1. Chewing gum. A convenient and easy way to deal with unpleasant odors, which helps for a short period of time. There is a general consensus that mint-flavored chewing gum is the most effective way to interrupt the smell. But the harsh aroma of menthol mixed with the smell of decomposition products can give unpredictable results. Therefore, is more effective than chewing gums with soft fruit aromas.
  2. Hygiene procedures. It is recommended that you brush your teeth thoroughly or use a mouthwash. This should be done in the morning after a feast or some time after taking an alcoholic drink. Such an overfume remedy works for about 20 minutes after the procedure and is recommended in combination with other methods.
  3. Large amount of liquid. It is recommended to drink a lot of different liquids – this stimulates the work of internal organs, helps to accelerate the elimination of alcohol from the body (but this should be done with caution for those who have problems with the cardiovascular system, blood pressure).Green, ginger or black tea, coffee, mineral water, herbal teas, natural fruit drinks are suitable as a liquid. Mineral water and herbal decoctions help to restore the mineral-acid balance of the body, improve well-being after alcohol abuse. Mineral water is considered an effective remedy, to which lemon juice and a little honey are added. This is one of the methods that does not have a quick effect, but it helps against all the consequences of alcohol abuse.
  4. Fragrant products for killing unpleasant odors.Popular recipes that help eliminate fumes include the use of parsley, fried sunflower seeds, coffee beans, bay leaves, pine needles. Such funds have their own strong smell, and this allows you to kill the fumes for 30-40 minutes. To eliminate the aroma during the working day, you can periodically chew aromatic spices and herbs, bay leaves, lemon balm or mint.
  5. Solutions and decoctions. A saline solution will help get rid of the smell for a short time.Dissolve a tablespoon of salt in a glass of water and rinse your mouth. You can also rinse your mouth with wormwood decoction. A lemon solution will also help to remove the smell for a while. The juice of half a lemon is squeezed into a glass of water, you can add a couple of drops of apple cider or table vinegar. Rinse out mouth with lemon solution , and then rinse the cavity with plain water.
  6. Physical activity. Walking in the fresh air or exercising near an open window will help start active processes in the lungs.Breathing exercises, deep breaths and exhalations, which must be methodically done for several minutes, are also suitable. Thanks to hyperventilation of the lungs, you can start the process of cleansing them and accelerate the elimination of ethyl alcohol breakdown products.
  7. Water procedures. To remove alcoholic toxins, which are also excreted through the skin, is recommended to take a bath or a contrast shower. This will improve health, cleanse the skin, remove the specific odor that appears on the skin during the breakdown of alcoholic products. If possible, you can go to the sauna – this is an ideal way to cleanse the skin and the whole body of toxins.
  8. Proper nutrition. To improve the general condition, get rid of bad smell, nausea and headaches, eat chicken broth or scrambled eggs, fruit for breakfast. These are foods rich in vitamins, useful amino acids, which will accelerate the processes of decay and removal of toxic elements from the body. According to reviews, oranges, which are eaten with the zest or peel of a lemon, help to kill bad breath.
  9. The use of fermented milk products. To remove unwanted aromas after alcoholic beverages, in the morning on an empty stomach, you can drink a couple of glasses of fatty kefir, fermented baked milk or sour cream. Fermented milk products have a good effect on digestion processes, stimulate the liver, help remove excess fluid from the body, leading to tissue edema.

Non-standard methods

Some people prefer to use onions or garlic to obstruct the unpleasant odor. This is a dubious remedy for fumes in the morning, tk. onions and garlic themselves have a very strong aroma, which is not liked by others. They can be used at home.

Some people add hot peppers and mustard to their food to speed up metabolism and quickly remove decay products from the body. Common folk remedies also include pickle (cucumber, cabbage) and tomato juice. The substances that are formed by during natural fermentation (not when preserved with vinegar and sugar) help restore overall tone, reduce nausea and headache.

Non-standard methods also include advice on the use of 1-2 tablespoons of vegetable or olive oil. It is necessary to use such funds with caution , because can cause unpredictable reactions in the digestive system.

Medicines for fumes

The package contains drugs for hangover and its symptoms without a prescription. Most drugs are aimed at complex effects – elimination of toxins, improvement of metabolism, saturation with vitamins and minerals, maintenance of vital body systems.Pharmaceuticals often contain aromatic substances, which for a short time can kill the unpleasant amber from the mouth.

What pharmaceuticals are used as the best remedy for fumes:

  • Activated carbon. It is a natural sorbent that absorbs toxins and removes them from the body. Coal helps well with food poisoning, intoxications of a different nature.
  • Vitamin C, ascorbic acid. Glucose with ascorbic acid works well for strengthening the liver, but is not suitable for those with diabetes.
  • Medicines for a hangover syndrome – “Zorex”, “Antipochmelin”, “Medichronal” and others. The pharmacist at the pharmacy can recommend a suitable medication because it is better to buy a medicine taking into account individual health characteristics. Reception of pharmaceuticals (“Antipolitsay”, etc.) can kill bad breath for 40-60 minutes. Basically, drugs are aimed at a complex effect to relieve the hangover syndrome.

Helpful Tips for Stopping Fumes and Hangovers

If you have gone too far with alcohol the day before, take a bath or a cold shower, have a hearty breakfast, use a folk remedy or medical remedy for overfume, drink plenty of fluids throughout the day.

Other useful tips that will improve your condition after yesterday’s fun:

  • Do not drink alcoholic beverages in the morning (some try to remove the hangover in this way). The next dose of alcohol will only increase bad breath and body odor.
  • If you chew coffee beans as an aromatic fume suppressant, you do not need to drink coffee.
  • For a hot bath to be effective in removing toxins from the body, you do not need to be in the bathroom for too long (15-20 minutes is quite enough).
  • Don’t smoke to kill the smell. The aroma after the smoked cigarette will only intensify the fumes.

Preventive measures that can help reduce morning odor and other effects of morning hangover include careful drinking. It is not advisable to mix different alcoholic beverages, you need to try to observe moderation in use. Eat drunk alcohol with light, low-fat food, which will not put a lot of stress on the liver (the liver will be overloaded anyway when processing ethyl alcohol products). Heavy foods include fatty meats, sausages, mushrooms, legumes, spicy and fried foods. Light foods are fermented and fresh vegetables, fruits, apple juice. Drink plenty of water after the meal and try to get a good night’s sleep.

In order not to suffer in the morning from a strong hangover and fumes, observe moderation in taking alcoholic beverages. Personal hygiene, a hearty breakfast, a contrast shower or bath will help remove bad breath and body odor. During the day, you can use aromatic products, drinking mineral water, herbal teas and tea.Sorbents and medications are also used to relieve various signs of a hangover syndrome.

The hangover of a healthy person is different from the hangover of an alcoholic

Almost every adult has experienced a hangover. For some, this painful condition is an accident, someone meets with it regularly.

Alexey Vodovozov, a military doctor, a member of the Science Journalists Club and the Association of Medical Journalists, told about what helps in this case and whether it is worth fighting a hangover at the IA “Khabarovsk Krai Today” within the framework of the Persona Grata project.

Amateurs and professionals

Often, at least in Russian, under the word “hangover” we mean two very different states. We have what in medical language is called alcohol withdrawal syndrome, the so-called “alcoholic hangover.” And then there is the hangover of a healthy person, which also has its own name – weisalgia. This interesting combination of Norwegian and Ancient Greek means, in short, “regret about yesterday.”

These two states are fundamentally different. In English there are two different words for these states, and in Russian we put together “professionals and amateurs”. A “professional” (a person who is already addicted to alcohol) has an alcohol withdrawal syndrome, the so-called ethanol withdrawal. He feels bad due to the fact that there is little drug in his blood, specifically ethanol. In order for him to recover, he is ill, he needs another dose of alcohol. These are the people who really need a hangover. Moreover, it is required – without fail, otherwise up to death. This is a very serious condition and alcoholics, in principle, do not know how to manage it.

With healthy people who have gone too far, everything is much easier. They feel bad because there was a lot of ethanol the day before. And a lot is a multiple of what he could digest. Accordingly, all manifestations that occur the next morning are associated precisely with the fact that alcohol was in excess. Naturally, such a person should never be hungover, because he will only aggravate the picture. There is a popular expression “for old yeast.” This is when the enzyme system is overclocked, a person adds alcohol, he instantly flies through the euphoric stage and the stage of consequences is immediately added.

Hangover – in moderation

The only way to avoid a hangover is to drink your measure of alcohol. It is necessary to determine the measure in youth.

We can determine this dose exclusively empirically, in no other way. All these alcoholic experiments will still be carried out, because we have to understand ourselves. I have my own sign, developed over the years. When my nasolabial triangle starts to grow numb, I know for sure that there is no need to go further – otherwise in the morning there will be a “square” head and all the attendant consequences. And if you stop at this stage, there will be no serious consequences.

I note that if you know that you have a hard time suffering a hangover, that it occurs even after small doses (it depends on many factors – genetics, a set of enzymes, physical fatigue, in women – on the phase of the cycle), then maybe it makes sense for you not to mess with alcohol? There should be a reasonable attitude towards it, despite the fact that it is a drug and neurotoxic poison and everything else, it is also a legal food product and somehow you have to live with it.

Over the years, the rate may change slightly in different directions, but not much. The functioning of the liver has a significant effect. If there are no problems with her, then until old age some drink quite strongly without problems. And there are many such examples.

A French proverb immediately comes to mind – “there are much more old wine lovers than old doctors.” However, if during growing up, some kind of hepatic pathology appeared, for example, hepatitis A, then alcohol is very poorly tolerated. Moreover, the same paracetamol is the world champion in medicinal hepatitis.

By the way, another proverb. “There are no ugly women, there is little alcohol” – this is a joke that has some truth in it. The point is that people perceive beautiful as symmetrical. Alcohol dulls all sensations, including it dampens the ability to perceive asymmetry. Accordingly, it turns out that the partner we look at with drunk eyes looks much better than he is in reality.

Also, scientific research was conducted on how a man perceives a woman if she is just in a bar at the counter and the second option is a bottle of beer next to her. Even just a bottle standing next to a woman makes it much more attractive to men.

What to drink?

There is no such alcohol, from which there would be no hangover later. Here we restrict ourselves solely to the dose. In theory, you could say that the purer the alcohol, the less likely you are to have a hangover. This is on the one hand, but on the other, pure alcohol is usually drunk in large doses. In this case, it turns out that it is much easier to arrange an overdose for yourself.

There are drinks that guarantee consequences. These are those that are prepared from raw materials that contain a large amount of pectins, which are precursors of methanol synthesis. Therefore, if alcohol is made from, for example, apples, pears, there is a high probability that there will be a fairly large amount of methanol in the final product.

It is not necessary that this will be a lethal dose, that a person will go blind or die, but the fact that the consequences from him will be pronounced is for sure. For example, calvados, various national tinctures made with these products, kirschwasser (cherry, cherry). Now, when they do it in industrial production, they add a fermentation stage to get rid of methanol from the drink. But if home-made, and even more so if it is a traditional drink, the same home-made moonshine made just on apples and pears will definitely provide the consequences.

There are no useful doses of alcohol. We can drink a certain amount of alcohol without pronounced negative consequences for the body. Conventionally, a glass of wine a day is the safest dose. Everything is considered in grams of pure ethanol, and this is no more than 18 grams. This is comparable to a shot of vodka, a pint of beer, or 150 ml of wine. IMPORTANT – these doses do not add up. You can’t “skip” the entire week and stack them on Friday. This dose is time-spaced and therefore safe.

Hangover like a cold

So how do you treat a hangover? Anything. It is appropriate to draw an analogy with the common cold here – it will pass regardless of whether you treat it or not. Whatever you do, the hangover will go away on its own. The only thing that needs to be done is not to burden the body, let it process all the products. He will do everything himself.

We do not now have miraculous remedies to combat hangovers, and by and large, I think so, we do not need such funds. Even if we someday learn to correct genetics so that a person can tolerate alcohol better. This is actually bad. A hangover for a healthy person is a defense, why should we break it?

The main thing is to let the body cope with the poison on its own. To do this, it is enough to get enough sleep, to make up for the loss of fluid. There is also a recommendation that if you went too far the day before, then before going to bed, you need to drink one and a half liters of still mineral water. But this is not entirely applicable, because when you go to bed “overdone”, you are unlikely to remember that it needs to be done.In addition, there are ready-made rehydron powders, this is a set of electrolytes, glucose – everything that is used for intestinal infections, when there is also a massive loss of fluid and electrolytes. Again, it’s good to talk about this in terms of recommendations – “do it, and it will be easier for you.”

When in the morning you wake up with a headache and with all the attendant, in this case you need to crawl for mineral water or for the above solution, it is better not to eat any fatty foods, because the liver is so difficult.Brine is a wonderful thing if it is actually a pickle, not a marinade. The marinade contains acetic acid, and we have so much splashing in our blood at this moment. If we add more, we won’t do anything good.

Almost any person will name their surely working recipe for a hangover. It’s just like a cold. Studies have been carried out and scientists have concluded that there is no cure for a hangover. Moreover, we do not even have a physiological basis in order to create it.Therefore, once again – we sleep, drink water, do not burden ourselves either physically or emotionally.

Five hangover myths

1. “The hangover can be prevented by some special secret pills that were distributed to the KGB agents, or by secret developments” – no, there are no magic pills. This is our body’s defense and it is dangerous to break it with medication.

2. “Need a hangover.” The drunkard is needed by professionals, people who really cannot live without it.This is already their physiological need. In the case of Weisalgia in a healthy person, you do not need to get hungover, this will only worsen the situation.

3. “The bath will help to expel toxins and get rid of a hangover.” Another fairly common folk remedy. A bath is a very big load on the heart. This is the basis of its therapeutic effect. In the event that the heart is healthy or relatively healthy, this is normal. But with a hangover, a huge burden falls on the heart. Dehydration causes our blood to thicken. If there was an adrenaline rush, then the heart reacts violently to it during a hangover. Rhythm disturbances are possible, one of the most common is atrial fibrillation, earlier it was called atrial fibrillation. It often happens that ambulance doctors take people from the baths after a hangover with heart attacks and other serious complications. The bath is good, but not in this state. Cool shower please.

4. “During a hangover, you need to drink coffee.” Coffee is a diuretic.Of course, weak, even in comparison with alcohol, but if we combine one dehydration with the second, it will not work out well. In addition, coffee has an effect on the heart, again, not so pronounced, but in this state – every stimulus will act badly. Caffeinated drinks don’t work well with hangovers.

5. “To avoid a hangover – you need not to lower the degree.” A very common myth. It doesn’t really matter in what order you drink alcohol. However, if you mix different drinks with each other, then you will end up with a hangover from all the ingredients that are in these drinks. The rule should rather look like this – “it is better if you drink one drink.” It doesn’t matter if you increase or decrease the degree. If you mix, then you add those chemicals, which will then be painted “oil painting” for you.

How to get rid of a hangover: cures and simple methods ✅

When the evening is too good, the morning is usually very bad – so often parties that were too fun end up. But what if you need to be in shape and quickly recover in the morning? A hangover is not a sentence. There are methods to help you cope with feeling unwell.

Hangover: what is it and why does it occur?

First you need to decide what a hangover is and what is the mechanism of its occurrence.

In fact, a hangover is an alcoholic poisoning of the body. Ethanol breaks down, the toxin enters the bloodstream, which makes you feel unwell when the whole body is in a fever. Nausea and vomiting occur.

Since alcohol stimulates an increased production of urine, urination becomes more frequent. This leads to dehydration. As a result – dry mouth, thirst, a feeling that sand was poured into the veins.

In addition, alcoholic beverages also irritate the walls of the stomach. In case of severe overdose and on an empty stomach, the gastric mucosa becomes irritated and inflamed.Pain appears in the stomach, nausea increases, gastritis may appear.

Decrease in blood sugar, loss of vitamins and minerals leads to the fact that there is a feeling of weakness, trembling in the limbs, profuse sweating, dizziness.

Ethanol is converted into acetaldehyde in the body. The appearance of this substance causes an accelerated pulse, palpitations, a person sweats and vomits.

Alcohol promotes deep sleep, but this sleep does not help to rest and qualitatively “reboot”.This is due to the fact that during alcohol intoxication, falling asleep, a person skips the first phases of sleep, immediately plunging into deep sleep. But it is in the phase of REM sleep that the brain is “rebooted”, information is memorized and processed. If there is no fast phase, then after waking up there is no feeling of cheerfulness, the person feels overwhelmed and tired, as if he had not rest.

Acetaldehyde, which is formed during the breakdown of ethanol, promotes the production of alkaloids. This is a poison that just causes clouding of consciousness, loss of coordination and deterioration of well-being.

Moreover, alcohol kills brain cells. Ethanol in the blood binds to iron. But it is iron that is responsible for attaching oxygen to the lungs and carrying it to the rest of the tissues and to the brain.

When there is ethanol in the blood, the blood cells can no longer attach oxygen so well. As a result, oxygen-depleted blood enters the brain, which leads to oxygen starvation of the brain. It is in this state that brain cells begin to die en masse. And oxygen starvation causes loss of coordination, dizziness, darkening of the eyes, tinnitus, confusion.

Alcohol poisoning is a consequence of an excess of poison in the body. The amount that will be critical for each person individually. The dose depends on the strength of the drink, the person’s age, weight, gender, health status and alcohol addiction.

And no matter what kind of alcohol you drink – live beer, cheap vodka, fine wine or expensive whiskey – any drink contains ethanol, which is a poison, and if you exaggerate the safe individual dose, it can become poisonous and lead to a severe hangover.

During intoxication, the body has lost a lot of fluid. You are dehydrated. Until you drink enough water and rebalance your metabolism will not help your body get rid of toxins. Therefore, you need to drink as much as possible – at least a couple of glasses of water on an empty stomach in the morning.

No. 2 More sleep and rest

The organism is undergoing poisoning. Physical activity now has a negative impact on health. Therefore, with a hangover, it is recommended to sleep more, you can safely walk in the fresh air, take a shower or a bath. Water procedures will help you to invigorate faster.

# 3 Take medication

The body needs support. It is necessary to remove toxins (sorbents will help with this), restore the water-salt balance (rehydrants will be required) and return all lost vitamins and minerals (complex vitamin complexes will come to the rescue, for example, Supradin ).

Advice number 2: protein food for tomorrow.

Omelet, soft-boiled eggs, boiled chicken breast, cottage cheese and cheese – these breakfast foods will help the liver to process ethanol faster.
